The Havasupii were good people, they got us across the marshes in clever reed rafts that their ancestors made and gave us food and drink for labor, a good deal anytime.
We all took shifts in the mine shaft tending the mycopia, or charging the batteries. the People knew of coal seams that we used to stay warm and dry, and a sort of long house at the mine entrance was our communal living area.
In the dimness of the “night” we discussed what may have happened. I ruled out a nuclear war easily, the entire bay to the south of my home just subsided under the waves. It took 30seconds.
Others say they saw the sun being torn apart, as if being eaten, then the light began to fade. There was talk of aliens who drove great shafts into the earths core, to tap the energy. It was never productive but it kept our minds off of our plight.
Traders had come through last moon with tales of a terminator aligned with the Rockies, and sunlight on the other side. They also warned of the perpetual storms near the terminator itself. It was decided that a group would head east towards what we heard was more light.
Our journey would take six moons at least depending, well depending on everything. We were to head due east until the Huavapii trading post, about 2 weeks away and there we would try to get some cold clothing, we will need it. Being one of the tribes, the Hauvapii were to lend us four Oatman mules to pull our travois, and keep us fed through the cold.
The twelve of us who made it out of California were chosen to move on. We didn’t complain, they being generous, and hey they could have just eaten us. After that, we will follow the trail, nay, find the sun.

I like a Canticle for Leibowitz a lot as far as post-apocalyptic sci-fi goes, though that one skips over the initial catastrophe.
While researching my next satire, I came across this clip about the only two women in Nitro Circus:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UR8QVI9OeTs
Surely any moment now feminists will protest this egregious disparity in representation. Note that the aforementioned female stunt performers dismiss such claims themselves.
Is it worth finishing? I got kind of bored a hundred or so pages in.
*clicks, watches a bit*
Nope, nope, nope
Next, you’ll be telling me you don’t want to go sky diving without a parachute.

Uh, a front-flip on a bike? Damn. Not sure I’ve seen that before, tho I never went looking. That seems remarkably difficult.
(I can do that but I don’t wanna.)
Enh, worth the risk to get out of California.
Indeed
I keed… slightly.
I might have to move out of my state (NY). Today was my first day back at work from disability. Boss is like, they really want people back in the office.
There is no office where I live. I guess we’ll find out how badly they want me back in an office. I sure as hell am not moving back to NYC.
Penn?
More likely Ohio.
I don’t think we have any offices in PA.
Anyway I am leased up for more than the next year so they can hold their horses.
Yet, you went back to Californication?
More likely Ohio.
You can move to Columbus. Rooting for the Jackets can’t be any more soul-crushing than rooting for the Sabers.
It would be Cleveland. My company has a big presence there.
Something something let me down again.
You’d be in good company.
Nice, economical story-telling/scene-setting, Yusuf.
You have a completely different approach to life than I do, and I’m glad you’re here to share it.
Thanks RC, glad you it so far

The campfire storytelling aspect of the characters themselves is a fun bit. I never thought of the yarns and half-truths folk likely would ‘devolve’ into if they didn’t truly know the how/why of their predicament. Ya gotta tell the kids something, right?
The Old Gods are dead. Long live the new Gods for the Modern Day Audience.
Jeebus… MORE heavy rain. I wonder if the crick behind my apartment building is going to flood. It was ragin’ the other day.
Kinda like this, although this was last year also after shitloads of rain.
I got my tomatoes and peppers (jalapenos, serranos, hatch, and fresnos) planted this past weekend.
Also planted broccoli, pak choi, cabbage.
The rains are welcome. The increased stress at work is not.
Im going to have a over production of tomatoes this year. Looks like a lot of freezing/canning in my future.
Lettuce is in full swing and herbs are humming along.
Tomatoes: San Marzano and Roma
Edmonton was dirty tonight and it was glorious to watch them completely breakdown.
Spearing, crosschecks from behind, to the ribs…
I dont understand the NHL front office obsession with not fining/suspending Nurse
I tapped out hours ago. I am firmly against the idea of hockey in Florida at all so whatevz.
Much like the shit results at the French Open, I have a feeling this one is not going to go my way either.
They were completely on tilt.
Definitely some old time hockey, Eddie Shore type shit
I hate that the Bruins wouldn’t budge on Marchand’s contract negotiations but what a great postseason he’s having; his eventual payday will be significantly larger than what he would have taken from the B’s.
Someone will overpay him, for too long. Good for him.
That team-wide and ice-long royal rumble was fucking nuts. Especially in a playoff game. Why *not* spill *all* the bad blood on the ice at once in such a lopsided game? All at once! Punches to the back of the head and some crazy uppercuts. I’d like to see their faces in about 12 hours to determine the true ‘winners.’
And as for Marchand? I can take him. (I must.)
Not a fan of Florida, but I don’t want the Goodthinkful Xenophobes of the Canadian Establishment to be able to celebrate.
Hockey is Canada’s #1 national sport. America bashing is #2.
Seems like an odd thing for a trans to say. They don’t do anything that even resembles loving their bodies. They hate their bodies with all their being. Throwing in a dress and growing out your hair doesn’t change that.
My left leaning Cali family members are imploring other family members to trust them that not all is as it seems…dont believe the videos and pictures.
Its a cult. Has to be
Weirdest part is it was two family members, one from each side of mine and wifes family, saying the exact same thing. They dont even know each other exist
It’s like the mash-ups of different TV news talking heads repeat the same ‘choice phrases’ that have obviously been mulled over.
Revealing. Both of those crafting these speech patterns for the audience to hear, or the audience being gullible -and trusting w/o verification – folk are to the PrinciPals they’re biased in favor of.
Humans be human, at all levels. *kicks pebble*
Programming is real.
“Well good, because it looks like an insurrection being carried out by criminal foreigners at the behest of communists”
Yeah…..which part are we not supposed to believe….and what does that mean?
On the bottom news feed during Mariners v Diamondbacks, which got DAMN interesting REAL fast in the ninth!: Some NFL player is out for a bit cuz of an injury to his “(Giant) Toe.”
First, legit out-loud chuckle to myself. When the fuck did “Big” toe go out of fashion? And why? Obviously racism, but isn’t ‘giant’ more … uh… whatever, than ‘big?’ Am I missing something, cuz I don’t know if I have a giant toe. To steal Seinfeld, my big toe is the captain of my toes, unlike some of those second big-toed folk trying to usurp power from Big Daddy.
The proud nature my generation is diving into Orwellian nonsense is disconcerting. Though if a con or grifter, uh, the easier the mark!

One of the New York Giants?
Couldn’t find a story on a DDG search.
Cant sleep. News is on.
Report from LA – reporter says all day protests peaceful but those people left and agitators all showed up apparently on cue. Masks, no signs or flags, dressed in black. They were being handed water bottles, fireworks, bricks etc (no one asking or saying by whom) and they just run around being destructive and threatening.
This is ridiculous.
Morning all. Cleaning and organizing the John Wick Arts & Crafts Room today while waiting for my ATF permission slip for the .22 LR muffler.
Good morning, Donny3F (who is also apparently a ham radio operator?), Sean, and Ted’S.!
Morning, GT.
How goes?
Good morning, U! It goes very well, thanks! Just working a half day today – taking the afternoon off to gad about a bit before going to a concert with Taj Mahal (the musician, not the building) and Keb’ Mo’, collectively known as TajMo. Listened to their new album last night and looking forward to the show tonight!
How are you?
Good morning, and yes indeed
Donny3F – my late father was a hamster (insert obligatory Monty Python joke here) a very long time ago – K8SVM.
Lousy.
I’m sorry, U! What’s the matter? 😟
He has lice; he just told you that.
My knees have decided to hurt whenever I have the temerity to stand up. I haven’t gotten any of the cleaning done that I need to. The weather is always exactly wrong. I fell off my diet in the stupidest way possible. My job is a farce that I’m sick of playing – but am too much of a coward to leave. I’m angry and frustrated, and not in the mood for the sort of sarcasm I normally revel in.
Three things most within your control:
1. Please see a doctor about your knees if the pain persists.
2. Complete one small cleaning project after work.
3. Get back on your diet…as many times as it takes.

“ US Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, a vaccine sceptic, has removed all 17 members of a committee that issues official government recommendations on immunisations.”
At 1st glance I read “septic” then saw it was the BBC.
Both full of sh*t?
A story from the George Floyd Mostly Peaceful Protests:
https://globalnews.ca/news/7010462/donald-trump-bunker-white-house-george-floyd/
I also remember how TEAM BLUE bitched about Trump not bringing in federal forces during the January 6 Mostly Peaceful Protests.
It’s simple – Whatever action he takes will be declared the wrong one.
Apparently they were “peacefully protesting” in Austin last night. 🙄
My liberal Austin son was complaining about all the homeless, druggies, etc, that roam the streets of the city. Apparently all the good corners are taken by the veteran beggars. He is able to work from home but likes to take extended walks but without being accosted and feeling threatened.
Yeah, they are aggressive
suh’ fam
whats goody
School shootings are rare in Europe and in particular in Austria, a country of 9.1 million, which has a combination of strict gun control laws and robust preventive measures.
And what might those “robust” measures be? Quality journalism there WSJ

Where do pirates get their hooks?
Second hand stores.
First article I’ve read that speculated how the diver died.
On that day, a diver died due to an explosion while separating the boom, which is a long pole that controls the sail. Investigators believe the explosion was the result of a build up of hydrogen.
The boom is usually extruded aluminum of smaller boats that I’m familiar with. You could certainly trap in the boom and the water could compress it, but I’m not sure how the hydrogen gas would form.
