Tariffs will destroy the economy!!! If you apply them as a desperate attempt to fill the coffers, at a time the country is experiencing economic strife, you would be correct. This is not then.
Okay, that’s it for me. Have a great hump day. Peace out, Glibbies.

Fun fact: they make vibrators that go bzzzzzzzzz without leaking your PII over an unsecured network connection, or even connecting to the internet. Crazy shit.
Well, many rely on an always open PII.
STEVE SMITH SAY YOUR BUTT IS THE PRODUCT
The only reason I can think of for such a product is teledildonics for long distance “relationships”. Otherwise — use a cucumber like God intended, ladies.
They do, indeed, appear to be used by camwhores. In which case, I guess your PII is kinda public as it is…
I always wonder how many of those things they sell, and how many of the people I see each day are intimately wired to the Internet.
You just want to use a port scanner and finger then fsck them, TOK…
I seem to recall a news story many years ago, about a woman who (per the vagueries of memories of old ephemera) had promised to wear it while awake, and had the controls open on the internet. It’s not quite exhibitionism, not quite SM, but if she liked it. Good for her.
It depends to some extent on whether you’re at a chess tournament or not.
I believe the entrepreneurs on the interwebs set it so that the viewer pay every time they want the device to activate.
But who would want that PII?
Someone who wants to give them the raspberry? (Lone Star!)
Former Vice President Kamala Harris will not run for California governor next year, she announced Wednesday, forgoing another campaign after losing last year’s presidential election.
“For now, my leadership — and public service — will not be in elected office,” Ms. Harris said in a statement.
People expect you to actually work, and stuff.
Yep. She knew she was over her head, and it showed. Now she doesn’t want to go through that again, big surprise.
If she really knows she’s in over her head and wants no part of it she might actually be one of the smartest politicians out there. Good for her.
To be fair, Ms. Harris — your leadership wasn’t in elected office before.
“my leadership” Yeah, that’s what you bring to the table.
Willie Brown liked this comment.
Her leadership brings ALL the boys to the yard!
I’m skeptical, not because I don’t think the FBI would do such a thing, but because even as completely incompetent as they are, I would think at least one of the clueless twats would have destroyed that evidence some time between November 7th 2024 and January 20th 2025.
Our FBI Director has to explore government buildings like Indiana Jones to find hidden evidence. Pretty amazing admission. In the sequel, he will raid the Tomb of Weiner’s Laptop.
“Indiana Patel and the Weiner of Doom” sounds an awful lot like a discarded Warty Hugeman Pop-Up Adventure.
I can see it if and only if the folks actually processing said burn bags (i.e. loading the incinerator, I would think) were viewed as peons beneath the Bureau’s notice for the most part… so they were in no rush to do their jobs.
Look for the union label . . . . .
Ms. Harris’s decision comes after a long period of speculation about her political future following her loss to President Trump last year.
Her HUMILIATING loss.
It’s only humiliating if you have any shame.
You can whore your way to the number 2 spot, but getting top billing on your knees runs into the problem that there’s no one to kneel in front of.
Damn shame she doesn’t follow the Nixon trajectory – she was so close.
The headless corpse of Spiro Agnew?

Remember way back when Trump was going to use tariffs to get good trade deals? Maybe some revenue if he had to issue reciprocal tariffs.
Now the deadline is 10 days for Russia to end the war or face “tariffs and stuff”. Also anyone buying their oil gets 100% tariffs despite being in the middle of negotiations with several of those countries.
https://www.foxnews.com/world/trump-issues-firm-10-day-deadline-putin-end-war
BRICS was created to escape the control of western banking systems. Trump’s proving why it’s needed.
Not real happy with his nonsense “National Emergency” proclamation getting rid of the de minimus for all countries starting at the end of August.
The BBB had a section eliminating de minimus in August 2027, which is dumb enough, but he sped the timetable up by 2 full years under the guise of a “national emergency.” That means everyone who orders anything at all from overseas, regardless of value, will now have to pay the tariff associated with that country. Order a candy bar from Canada, and receive a separate bill for the tariff.
He’s being reckless with regard to tariffs.
Somewhat on topic, just a few days ago I got a 8 lb bag of gigantic “baking” potatoes for $3.99. What a deal. I need to make some chili for them.
Saw a “Andy Griffith” rerun earlier today- sign in grocery window was “10 lbs potatoes 29 cents.” No greedy storekeepers in Mayberry.
A silver quarter, a nickel nickel and you got a copper penny back.
“AAAIIIGGGHHH!!! NOT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!”
Wow that article is full of excuses. And it also hits close to home. My oldest is now starting to complain about the consequences of being severely overweight. She doesn’t like her new CPAP machine, and she doesn’t like that we sometimes make her take 2 showers a day (she needs it). I’m telling her tough luck toots, if you refuse to take care of your health, this is what you have to deal with.
Cut the carbs and she won’t need the showers or the cpap.
I will find a more lucrative graft instead.
Is there really all that much money in day drinking?
If there was, what are any of us doing otherwise?
I hate day drinking. It inevitably leads to a headache before bedtime.
This. I can’t do it at all.
I can have a couple beers in the PM, but knowing that I will go home and take a nap watching baseball.
I’m shaking my head at “my leadership”. When I think of leadership, I think Alexander the Great, US Grant, and Kamala Harris.
Who does she think she is? LeBron James? “I’m taking my leadership to the winery.”
lol *hic*
What up, bitchez?
Hey, hon. Enjoying ursine bliss here.

WaPo writer gets surprise
Many Americans are car poor.
This week, Edmunds, a car-shopping website, reported that an increasing number of consumers with auto loans had negative equity, meaning they owe more on their vehicle than it’s worth — a lot more.
The data showed that 26.6 percent of trade-ins applied toward a new-vehicle purchase had negative equity, a four-year high.
The average amount of these “upside-down loans” was $6,754 in the second quarter of the year, according to Edmunds — up from $6,255 in the same quarter a year ago. Even more alarming is that 23.4 percent of these drivers owed more than $10,000, and 7.7 percent more than $15,000.
The story behind these numbers is that borrowers who lack the cash to pay off their previous loan often roll that negative equity into the new one.
Trump’s fault.
I’m pretty live and let live about people’s personal decisions, but if you are buying a new car and have to roll the balance on your old one into the loan, you have no business buying a new car. It is possible to drive a car more than a couple years. It’s even possible to drive a used car. You do not get a prize for keeping up with the Joneses.
If I can’t get a new Beemer every three years, it’s clearly a market failure.
When the average car payment started to be $600+, the Mrs. and I said NOPE.
What I don’t understand is why people who really want that lifestyle don’t just lease. Financing a car you intend to keep for less than the term of the loan is retarded.
Exactly, Pat. I don’t get it either.
We just got a new car earlier this month, with trade in, it cost us $11k. I would have paid cash, but got a discount if I financed it. So its getting paid off in full in August before the first payment is due (they warned us not to pay it off TOO fast, because if we paid it off before the financing company got the title, they would sometimes get lost. They have the title already, so we are going ahead with paying it off).
When I was in the army I was amazed at how many people traded in their cars when the tires were worn out.
I see a pretty fair number of trade-in deals since our company’s Virtual Retailing interface allows you to apply trade-in equity in real time. I could probably count on one hand the number of times that’s been a positive number. A significant number of our interactions begin with a customer chatting in pissed off that their trade-in value is lower than KBB. On in particular stood out to me. Guy was ~$27k underwater and wanting to roll it into a new loan for a ~$75k truck.
“Car poor?”
Why, I’m surprised they aren’t whinging about public transportation deserts.
Just wait.
California hit first and hardest.
‘File Bankruptcy’: Man Tries To Trade-In Hummer EV. Then the Dealer Discovers He Still Owes $170,000
Posted before.
With only 11,000 miles on the odometer and the fact that the car appears to be in good condition, Benallal tells Anthony he’d like to buy the car. He offers him $79,000 for the car, but that still leaves Anthony with $90,000 in negative equity. Next, Anthony informs Benallal that he’ll be able to give the car dealer $20,000 down to bite into the amount he owes on the ride.
This leaves him with around $70,000 in money he’ll have to pay back on the Hummer EV purchase. Which also carries the negative equity on the Silverado and X6 he had lumped into the sale.
Hummer EV. Again, just stop right there.
Also, the Ex once had about five cars stacked up like that and credit cards she juggled to pay off credit cards.
Totes different!
That whole article is full of “Some people benefit from this so we shouldn’t look for any type of abuse at all”, and “Some people have this health problem through no fault of their own so we shouldn’t determine if a person’s behavior might cause it”.
I’m sympathetic to both arguments. Make your own choices, accept the consequences for them. Nobody needs to be telling grown fucking adults that they need to eat, whether it’s Cheetos or amphetamines.
So are we talking food desserts or food deserts?
Oh nice, they added condescension similar to “Minorities can’t get an ID”.
I see that article is bothering you as much as it’s bothering me.
It’s “awesome” on many levels.
Mind you Kennedy is a nut, but he pisses off all the right people.
Oh for fucks sake. Too poor to exercise is the dumbest take to date.
I’ve got 2.5 jobs bringing in ~$40k a year; living in a town of around 10k people with exactly 2 grocery stores, one of which is Walmart; with 2 parks, neither of which is within walking distance; I’m ~5’11” and 145 pounds; and the last time I bought anything from a convenience store or fast food restaurant was about 2 years ago when I was road tripping with my U-Haul moving here. Go fuck yourself with this food desert bullshit. You’re fat and unhealthy because you make stupid choices.
Speaking as a green space alien I would just like to add that I am big-boned. All the drink specials, buffets and occasional grifter BBQs have nothing to do with it.
Lol, that raises another issue. Not everyone prioritizes the same things in life. A couple BMI points attributable to living well doesn’t mean you’ve been victimized by capitalist opulence.
BMI has its issues, duh, but I saw an interesting longitudinal study a while back.
Lifespan extends as BMI increase thru the “normal” range. It then flattens out in the “overweight” range before dropping off dramatically once you reach “obese”.
So the top of the normal range is the peak of life expectancy. And a little bit overweight changes nothing. Which makes sense, if prehistoric days, carrying a little extra weight would be useful to survive the winters/droughts/etc. Evolution wants us to be a wee bit chunky.
Fuck your thin privilege.
“…public health leaders…”
Ok. Just stop right there.

Does anybody know if Uber Eats still takes EBT?
The gas station where my kid works accepts EBT. I guess they have milk there amongst all the junk food.
The story behind these numbers is that borrowers who lack the cash to pay off their previous loan often roll that negative equity into the new one.
“Lack the cash to pay off their previous loan”
This makes my head hurt.
A luxury automobile is a right. Who are you to deny me going into $75K of debt on a $50K car?
I put 20% down! (from my credit card).
But I waaaaaaaant it noooooow! And then in 25 years these people will be the ones screeching about how they can’t live on their social security and begging for help.
Screw you grandma, eat your Alpo and try to enjoy your memories of having a new car every year.
Denver loses another level-headed family…
https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/denver-family-moves-new-zealand-fears-transgender-rights/73-b4ac34cf-874f-453c-adcc-3a9628607bd0
“They had been watching with concern as transgender rights came under increasing scrutiny across the country. The day that Donald Trump returned to the White House and signed an executive order declaring there are only two genders, their fears crystallized into action. Within 24 hours, they started making plans to leave the United States.”
_________________________________
“For the couple who lived in Denver with their 10-year-old daughter Chase — a rising fifth-grader who came out as transgender several years ago — the urgency felt personal.”
I’m feeling left out, in that I haven’t been able to must a near-decade-long nervous breakdown because some unsavory, loudmouth nut managed to get elected to high office.
If your 10 year old came out as transgender ‘several’ years ago your opinions have value only as a negative indicator of truth.
What are the odds, you suppose?
Assume a generous 5% likelihood of being “born the wrong gender”, that would mean .05^3 = hmmm, let’s see…. about 100%.
If you do the math right.
WTF? Do they not know what state they are in? It is like the constitutional amendment in CO last year to add abortion protections to the constitution. I think CO already has the loosest abortion laws.
If you’re transgender, the availability of an abortion being your problem is probably far down the list.
I was making a comment on the state and its support for left-wing social issues. I haven’t heard anything about the governor being a trans-hating gay.
They felt unsafe!
Those parents belong in prison, not NZ.
Po-tay-to, po-tah-to.
GHOST GUN!!!!!!!
New York skyscraper mass shooter assembled weapon himself, police say
Did he complete an 80% lower?
Did his buddy buy him a finished lower, and he slapped on a factory upper receiver?
The world may never know (because who fucking cares?)
At least he didn’t have a bump stock, or he may have killed millions!
It started in 2021 with pandemic-related shortages, which drove up auto prices. Many buyers felt they had no choice but to pay more than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
Those poor buyers were pistol-whipped into signing the papers.
Is it really that hard to say, “That price is too high. Thanks anyway”?
I say it started earlier, when Cash for Clunkers put a huge dent in the supply of used vehicles.
That’s crazy talk. We had to get those dangerous functional cars off the streets and crushed, so that we could destroy something of value!
Along those lines as well, new cars are really fucking expensive, and really fucking expensive new cars don’t become really cheap used cars. Since 95% of the US isn’t, thank Christ, “walkable cities,” a car is pretty nearly a necessity. So I’m not unsympathetic about buyers getting hosed and having to cough up a larger and larger percentage of their income to afford transportation. When my Elantra dies off it’s going to be tough to replace. From the title information, I know the original owners paid ~$13,500 for it in 2006, which is equivalent to ~$21,950 in today’s money. I paid $5,500 for it 7 years later at ~72k miles, which is equivalent to $7,705 in today’s money (and even then I was bitching about getting hosed on it because prices were still up from Cash for Clunkers). A new 2025 bottom-trim Elantra today costs $25,080 at a local dealership in Abilene. The cheapest used 2018 Elantra with under 100k miles within 400 miles of my location on Autotrader is $8,750. The next cheapest is $8,995.
Lockdown-related, not pandemic-related.
I am convinced there was no pandemic. The before me sensed something was wrong and it was hard to admit they could pull off something that big and that evil but the after me has no trouble with that.
For somebody that wants basic transportation new with a warranty I get it. Otherwise walk away.
But if that was the case you shouldn’t be crazy upside down either.
Just out of curiosity, I check Craigslist for sub-2K cars in my neck of the woods https://corvallis.craigslist.org/search/cta?max_price=2000#search=2~gallery~0
More than one, most of them are newer than 2000, and so on. You don’t need to put your whole life in hock, they are out there.
Less than 25 years old can still be a pretty old car.
Alas, no one ever sold a cow because it gave too much milk or a car that got too good of gas mileage.
Heck I’m down in your area for work about three times a year.
I’ll have to remember you’re in that area, I’ll buy you a beer next time I’m through.
I say it started earlier, when Cash for Clunkers put a huge dent in the supply of used vehicles.
*uptwinkles*
We
We’re
Looking for a
Newer car at that time.
Used Subarus were more expensive than new ones.
“…hack your account…”
Wut? I have to have an account for a sex toy? What kind of bullshit is that?
Personal responsibility? The only thing people hate more is truth.
Huh. Harris isn’t running? Maybe she is not as stupid as I thought……no, she is.
Earthquakes…volcanoes…Somewhere someone is blaming global warming but I cant be bothered to look for it.
Documents in burn bags….I wonder if any of them have the name of that CIA lady on them.
I forget…the boy that cried wolf, did someone finally beat the shit out of him? I dont remember the ending.
Chase had long known who she was. Her parents said their role had always been to follow her lead — to listen, learn and support her as she grew into her identity. But the world around her was growing more hostile, and the family’s deep concern for her mental, emotional and physical well-being began to outweigh everything else.
——-
“It has been much harder than I thought,” Candace said. “I’ve been compartmentalizing with the best of them, but now that it’s the day of, it’s really, really hard.”
Despite the grief of leaving, the family said they are hopeful.
“There have to be brighter days ahead,” Candace said. “When it gets really hard, I just imagine our lives in six months and how much better it feels. That’s what I keep holding on to.”
How nice of you to share your grandiose delusional life with a lowly peasant like me. I cannot thank you enough.
“Her parents said their role had always been to follow her lead”
Well that explains a lot.
I mean, my parents gave me a lot of room growing up, probably more than was wise (my old man taught me to break into and hotwire a car before I could legally drive,) but holy shit…your role as parents is to follow your child’s lead?
It’s nothing short of a moral atrocity, that the ‘parents’ vapid stupidity has been allowed to damage another human being…
my old man taught me to break into and hotwire a car before I could legally drive
My dad did that too.
It was so long ago I don’t remember much but I think if I had to, I could figure it out from what I do remember.
Yep, bypass the ignition switch, and she will light right up.
Dad was a good ‘un.
You used to have to give Mr. Barnum money for this kind of entertainment. Now the freaks come to you.
That is one hell of a cross. Imagine having to drag that around.
I, too, had long known who I was at 6 years of age. Which is why I’m a part time scientist, part time astronaut, part time fireman today.
Your six year old self would be highly disappointed that you aren’t full time at all three.
Not a part time major league ball player or a handsome quarterback?
I was going to be either a cowboy or an Indian, whichever job I got assigned by my older brothers. Sometimes I was either a kraut, sometimes a nip, never got to be Mike.
Had I been more recent I’d have been a raghead, I suppose.
If you need to take out a seven-year auto loan, you probably can’t afford the vehicle.
No shit, Shirley?
These days, 6 years is the standard. Very few of the lenders available in our real-time lending database even return results for terms less than 72 months. 84 months isn’t at all uncommon, and a minority of them offer 96 month terms.
And WHY can we not afford vehicles? Let me count the ways.
Everywhere I go, I see Hyundais and Kias. Decent cars. About the only thing anybody can afford.
Trump is allegedly considering pardoning P Diddy because he:
1. Thinks it’s a witch hunt like those directed against him
2. It would somehow be a great distraction from the Epstein list.
If he wants to titty twist the IC for their witch hunts against him, I wish he’d turn his sights to Snowden instead of his celebrity pedophile friends.
Diddy’s getting a pardon? Break out the celebratory baby oil then. Fucking vapid bullshit, maybe Trump missed the vid of him beating the piss out of his gal (not what he got convicted for but still, fuck that guy).
I want to say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening? Teledildonics.
How did you know about my day job?
No one wants a sex toy that comes first
The future is now.
Is that the first that’s been growing inside you?
And, in the future, we will all live in the city of Dildopolus.
Burn bag docs….I bet they were forgotten because no one thought Trump was going to win.
See, Peter Sztrok was in charge of those bags, but then he started the fornicating with his side piece and then, well, somebody did something and forgot all about those so silly bags.
Or it’s a fake plant.
that would require forethought
Oh, and New Zealand family of freaks…I hope they are ecstatic down there and call all of their friends to tell them how happy they are so all of their friends will follow them.
Gotta say I always thought you people and your “Biden’s handlers should be charges with Elderly Abuse” bit was a bit over the top , but this is criminal and whomever is enabling it should be caned,
Great back in the day but not so great now. He’s looking better than Ozzy at least but please put on a shirt.

“Beef jerky that got left in a cup of water”

Skittles ruined my life. Twice.
#1: Replaced lime with green apple. WTF. That does not GO with the rest of the flavors.
#2: Once they went back to normal, I found that they turned me into an asthmatic with a jackhammer of a heart.
I do not eat Skittles. This ruins my life.
I like them but the quality control of them and most of the candies I grew up with has gone to shit.
