When you add all types of knives together, I think I have about 60 blades. My EDC is one of my Spyderco’s. This little fella followed me home today. I need to feed it the blood of my enemies. Or at least some cardboard.

Links?

He’s surfing the big waves now.

Sucks to be an El Salvadoran gang banger.

Boom chickie wow wow.

Looks like a (((pedo))).

Nope. Shocked face still isn’t working.

Nice shootin’ Tex.

Speaking of ultra processed food.

This part of the deal was a foregone conclusion.

Okay, that’s it for today. Peace out, Glibbies.

The authors of the study, which was published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, are calling this blatant favoritism “AI-AI bias” β€” and warn of an AI-dominated future where, if the models are in a position to make or recommend consequential decisions, they could inflict discrimination against humans as a social class.

Garbage in, garbage out. It’s garbage all the way down.

New record a kinnath’s house today. The weather station says the dew point is 85 degrees. It’s fucking miserable outside.

Ice Cream Social today at a neighbors house. 70 degrees, a light breeze and overcast. And no mosquitoes.

If AIs continue to be widely adopted and integrated into the economy, the researchers predict that companies and institutions will use AIs “as decision-assistants when dealing with large volumes of ‘pitches’ in any context,” they wrote in the study.

This would lead to widespread discrimination against humans who either choose not to use or can’t afford to pay to use LLM tools. AI-AI bias, then, would create a “gate tax,” they write, “that may exacerbate the so-called ‘digital divide’ between humans with the financial, social, and cultural capital for frontier LLM access and those without.”

AIs will never be as good as humans at pulling wild hypotheses out of their asses.

Spyderco will not sell their autos to the β€œpublic”. πŸ™„

      • Sensei

Yup. That said I prefer the non auto version for pocket safety even if given a choice.

The whole Spyderco blade shape and hole allows for easy one handed operation. I don’t need the speed.

      • Spudalicious

Really? I’ve got one and it’s a beast. I ordered it off the website. It could be a state thing.

      • Spudalicious

I was just on the website. They’ve changed their policy. And the selection of automatics has shrunk.

Florida GOP merch hits a little too close to Home (Depot, that is)

The party’s line of β€œThe Deport Depot” merch was themed on the new immigrant detention center Gov. Ron DeSantis unveiled this week that he called β€œDeportation Depot.”

But the items bore a logo with the same recognizable orange box and stenciled font as the one belonging to The Home Depot.

Maybe come up with something a touch more original, guys?

lol Everyone in a pedo article looks like a pedo, don’t they.

    • Sensei

I’ve read good things about them. I think the source blades from Taiwan. Lots of tool making there.

      Spyderco usually sources from Japan.

      • Spudalicious

All my Spydercos are from Colorado. That’s where they make knives with the powdered steels from CPM. A lot of Spydercos are also made in Italy.

      • Sensei

I have a Delica 4 in ZDP-189 and it takes and holds a razor edge, but it’s hard as fuck and takes forever to sharpen.

For general use I much prefer my Manbug in VG-10. It dulls marginally quicker and can’t hold as fine an edge, but it’s way easier to keep sharp.

        Both are Japanese.

        How are the CPM Alloys?

      • Spudalicious

The CPM steels are amazing. They hold an edge forever. This one is 15V. I touch them up about every six months with a ceramic hone. Takes about ten strokes. I also have an automatic with an LC200N blade. It’s designed for the marine environment and doesn’t corrode.

      • Spudalicious

My primary kitchen knives are Kikuichi with Swedish folded steel blades.

    • kinnath

      I have one of these:

      https://www.bladehq.com/item–1107-Protech-Brend-Auto-1–2932

I haven’t carried it for a while. Work is a wee bit picky about certain items being carried at the facility, and I have decided that I want to work for the foreseeable future.

Cool thing about Iowa’s Permit to Carry Weapons is that auto-blades are covered. While everyone focuses on concealed carry of firearms, knives are covered as well.

But that does not provide reciprocation with other states. So, I am legal to carry a concealed pistol in a lot of reciprocal states, I can’t carry the knife with me.

      • Sean

Those protec side autos are sweet. My previous edc was a Godson SMKW special.

      • Tres Cool

Ohio has legal carry for auto knives. My daily is a Kershaw OTF. However, when I work in New York and we’re going to a bar, it has to stay in the hotel.

I dont need to get hemmed-up on a concealed carry charge in New York when Im on the job. Again.

      • Tres Cool

Just as I was reaching for my wallet.

      • kinnath

Auto knives with blades not greater that 4 inches are legal. Blades longer than that can be carried with the Permit to Carry Weapons.

    • DenverJ

Yes, I like tattoos style; stabby stabby. I used to buy cheap Dewalt $20 and just throw them away when they got dull. Usefull for drywall, because the lower part is saw toothed. Now I carry a razor knife and use a vibrating multi-tool for cutting drywall.

      • DenverJ

Auto spell thinks tanto style is tattoos. Stupid AI.

The findings are particularly dramatic at our current inflection point where the internet has been so polluted by AI slop that the AIs inevitably end up ingesting their own excreta. Some research suggests that this is actually causing the AI models to regress, and perhaps the bizarre affinity for its own output is part of the reason why.

So, the Habsburgs are being challenged as the most inbred?

    • Chafed

      Lol. Well done.

  15. Suthenboy

  16. Suthenboy

Speaking of men’s everyday tools…fixed knives should be full tang. Having a handle with a short tang, especially those ones with some little Mickey Mouse pin holding the handle on is dumb. There is too much leverage between the handle and blade to make them separate pieces.
This made me think, since I had to repair one yesterday, why the hell cant anyone make one of these with a handle that stays on?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaving_brush
The brushes are stuck in the handle with about 1/8 inch circumference inside the handle with a tiny dab of crappy glue. I have thrown a hundred of the damned things away over the years, all with the same chincy design. I see some out there that should be good but they start at 100 bucks with a few going into the ~500 dollar range. What the hell is that?
