Guarding the integrity of the Links

Not real happy with my State…Chicago cops won’t respond to calls from the feds, when they are being attacked. Our landwhale governor is beating his flabby chest about keeping our voting roll padders, er, illegal aliens safe from mean old ICE. I think I need to buy more ammo. Remember, nobody is coming to save you.

All that aside, here are some links to consider.

      when they are being attacked

Either this is important work and a dangerous setting or it is not.

If it is dangerous, the feds should defend themselves appropriately and let the chips fall where they may.

This is the price of poker: Trump’s bluff has been called, let’s see your cards, sir. All he does is talk shit and jump from one unforced error to the other; well, now, Mr Bigshot, show us how it’s done; pull your big dick out and whack ’em silly. Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR. Well, okay then. We have to take care of this little gnat that’s on our shoulder called the Democrats. Well, you’ve invaded a metropolis full of them: mop us that mess.

      • Bobbo

Sorry Don but the dems made the mess, now the real adults are cleaning house, ugly but you got a better idea?

      • juris imprudent

Yes, let’s the Dems wallow in that mess until the people that voted for them come to their senses and put all the appropriate heads on pikes.

      • Shpip

If it is dangerous, the feds should defend themselves appropriately and let the chips fall where they may.

This is where I’m at. Cops in general like to talk about how dangerous their jobs are — now put up or shut up.

Mobilize every federal badge-toter from Green Bay to Indianapolis, plan quietly and use operational security, then bait the black bloc into showing up en masse at the ICE facility. Kettle them in, arrest them all, then bring in some hard, pipe-hittin’ niggas Assistant State Attorneys to prosecute the lot into Leavenworth.

If the invaders and their violent defenders get too saucy, go full Kent State My Lai on their asses. I don’t care at this point.

Never gonna happen JI, in the meantime immigration is a national, not local issue and needs to be tackled nationally.

These people do t wash their shirts. They may if the rest of us are lucky air them out in a pile or douse them in patchouli from time to time.

That’s a great video. I have no idea why I’ve never seen it, I was (and remain) a huge INXS fan.

    • SDF-7

I just never really got into them — INXS always seemed like just too much.

    • rhywun

I am a big fan of the five albums that came out before that one.

  6. Shpip

Hundreds of hikers have been rescued after being trapped on Mount Everest following an unusually strong snowstorm over the weekend.

    Sometimes people need reminding.

You can attempt the summit outside the traditional pre-monsoon May window, but that’s not the way Tibet.

    • SDF-7

One would think after the flash floods, hurricanes, etc. people would remember that Nature is too powerful to notice you and doesn’t care a whit about you.

And Shpip — don’t expect Swiss to give you a pass on that.

      • Threedoor

        They didn’t read Moby Dick.

    • Bobbo

Wrong, many attempts are made in early fall before the winter, risky but the winds are lighter, just dont get caught in an early storm. Ask the Messner brothers about Nanga Parbat,
Oh yeah, only one brother Reinhold returned.

    • SDF-7

I can appreciate that they wanted to go touring again — but it just seems like there was no rush without the drummer.

      • Sensei

I guess they just want to play. But there isn’t much interest from me.

My interest in them greatly declined by the time of their later albums regardless.

      • Bobbo

Neil was as great a part of there sound, not to mention the corny but entertaining lyrics. I love Rush

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I am guessing that, for once, there was a real need to put a Rush order in, as none of them are looking to Peart these days.

      • Necron 99

I’m going to snag tickets to the Fort Worth show if they aren’t outrageous.

        [narrator: they will be outrageous.]

      • bacon-magic

Tool’s drummer Danny Carrey(sic?) sat in for him…he did a great job.

    • Bobbo

      AI Neil?

    • Threedoor

Great. A month solid of Ozzy songs on the local rock radio and now I’m going to be subjected to Rush again.

      • Necron 99

Why do you listen to radio? Stream what you want. Heck, even the 4 minute aids commercials in iheartradio is better than over the air noise.

      • Threedoor

        Bandwith.
I’m 5 miles from the nearest cell tower in a Faraday cage.

    • Shpip

Taking Peart’s place is celebrated German composer and producer Anika Nilles.

I can see this chick getting all puffed up from being Peart’s successor.

“I am only the third drummer for Rush in fifty-seven years. Neil before me.”

The Swiss Guards, who have protected popes for the last five centuries, now have a new uniform.

I was expecting something something more like this.

    • SDF-7

      Better that than other options.

      • Suthenboy

So, aunt jemima, uncle ben and the land=o=lakes hottie are out but the Swiss miss, no one complains about or tries to cancel her.
        I wonder what that means?

      • The Other Kevin

I take it to mean that the people complaining are fine with white people on a box at the store, but the don’t want to see minorities when they go grocery shopping.

    • Threedoor

I know there was a push to recover some recently.

STEVE SMITH TELL COUSIN YETI SMITH GO HELP HIKERS KEEP WARM. AND BY HELP KEEP WARM, MEAN…

I’d like to see more details on this. Whether they were attempting to summit, had proper gear, etc. Ok, “hotel” (unheated hiker shelter) without running water understandable in that location, but no heat?

Blizzard strands hundreds on Mount Everest

I thought it was a slow news week when weather at Burning Man went national.

    • (((Jarflax

I dunno, a video game company stranding people in the mountains is news as far as I am concerned. I kind of feel privileged all they ever did to me was annoy me with boring grinds.

    /dedthread —
Brooks:Ms Weiss needs to add an explicit prohibition on cheap appeals to emotion, and that’s going to be a hard habit to shake.
JI: That’s pretty much core to reaching a mass audience.

Yes/yes. “If it bleeds it leads.” <– Truth, and one for a reason. That *is* the shit people want, and need, to read. A direct appeal to primal emotion. Keeping emotion out of stories can be furthered by refocusing journalism on *reporting* rather than *opinion-ating.* You're there to report what you see and can get out of people of note in the story.

Ev's editional(!) rule is to simply enforce basic AP style when it comes to "don't use adverbs." (Adjectives should also be rare.) That alone takes away much of the written appeals constantly used by modern 'journalists.' Be succinct.

    Community trust

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson was signing an executive order Monday aimed at limiting where federal agents can gather in the city, prohibiting them from using certain city-owned spaces for immigration enforcement activities.

The order, which is set to take effect immediately, will prohibit federal immigration authorities from using “city-owned or controlled parking lots, vacant lots, and garages as staging areas, processing locations, or operations bases for civil immigration enforcement activities,” it states.

“In recent weeks, federal agents used several City-owned properties—including parking lots near Harrison and Kedzie, and a vacant lot at 46th and Damen—as staging sites for immigration enforcement,” the mayor’s office said in a release about the order. “Such use of City property undermines community trust and runs counter to Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance, which ensures that all residents—regardless of immigration status—can live, work, and seek services without fear.”

Selective (non)enforcement strengthens the bond between ruler and ruled.

We don’t need no interference from outside.

Pritzker can suck a whole bag of dicks. And fuck all the cops that complied with that bullshit.

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

They’re cops, what do you expect?

  18. The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

I’m wondering if I need to rethink my strength training. I’ve been doing lots of high volume(relatively) low weight stuff, body weight exercises, and running. I’m significantly more fit than I was but I can’t really lift that much heavier than when I started training again about a year ago.

I’m wondering if I need to do more heavy lifts, or just up my protein intake. Honestly a little concerned with injury, getting too old for all this.

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

I guess the obvious answer is make sure your macros are good before changing anything else and see how you respond.

    • Ted S.

      DO YOU SQUAT BRO?

    • Suthenboy

I do high rep, low to medium weight work. I feel great. I feel light as a feather. I dont need to be Hercules. It is about how I feel and my health.

She’ll go home, be fêted by the bien pissants, then reload with another boat out of Italy or Malta to repeat the same stunt in a desperate quest for continued relevance.

I wonder if Israel will ever get tired of her ass and present her with the Rachel Corrie Award for Most Annoying Dumbass that she so desperately craves and deserves.

Of course, unlike Corrie, no one will ever call Greta a squish.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Looking at her, they might call her a squash.

      • Evan from Evansville

    Everbody daid?

    • Evan from Evansville

Nope, but my computer just froze and I can’t get it working. Restarted but now I can’t open anything at all.

Will have to see. It’s cheap and has always been shit, and was just a temp replacement. But yuck on my Friday into my weekend.
