Dramatis Personae

Maximilion Von Dachs, Captain

Wednesday Delenda, Comms

Kiki Rattur, Weapons

Pongo and Tupppy, Engineering

Cat, Cat

Pixie, Red shirt to be killed off early

Our navigator Pixie was keeping us right on trim through the wormhole when Cat came up to me to propose a new option.

โ€œ Captain, I found a way to disturb, Shall we say the Bereaver’s orientation within the warm hole? And I think they have been thrown off our trail completely.”

โ€Dammit I don’t care, I don’t trust cats! Kiki cried in her song.โ€œThey have been wrong so many times and cost our race a good deal of stock, it’s intentional, by designโ€ Max was not having it.

Kiki! Kennel now! Comport yourself as a professional officer and leave the instinct behind! as Kiki left in shame.

After another 3 days we cleared the wormhole completely and entered into the G821 system. Three green planets, and a radio transmission from the prime planet.

As the crew settled into the captain’s den, there was silence. No growls, no barking, silence. Captain Max asked for answers. Del, what do you see? what are on the comms? What do we actually see?

What are we encountering?

Are they safe?

Are they dangerous, Pixie? What about weapons? Are our systems on board cleared for fire?

Is everything good engineering? What’s your status? Chief engineer Pongo repiled โ€œCaptain, we found no atomics, no spaceflight and rudimentary aircraft, I think it safe for a recon if you desireโ€

Dog I love my engineers, always the truth, come what may.

ROO! my comms girl is the best but tedious, but we are ready, lets go see!

I feel like I’m tripping from the six jabs I got at the medical center today. ๐Ÿฅด

I have to redo the baby schedule. Today I got Heps A and/or B, I think MMR, some other junk, and the Shingles one which babies don’t get but that’s the one I want.

      • Evan from Evansville

I strongly advise doing anything to avoid shingles. Funny, how all the Shingrix (HA!) ads make clear it’s only for 50yo+ and only they can get it. *Gritty McAngry face*

Got ’em when I was 18. Do everything to not get shingles. If ya do get it, Valtrex is your friend. That shit fucking *works.* My dose was delayed cuz fucking MLK Day closed IU hospitals. That was a pisser.

      • rhywun

I have been on (val)acyclovir for a year or so. Big chalky horsepill that doesn’t go down easy twice a day. That goes away eventually.

      • slumbrew

I just got Shingrix shot #2 a few weeks back. Definitely don’t want shingles.

      • Threedoor

I have t had it but I was exposed to chicken pox back in the day so itโ€™s possible Iโ€™ll get it eventually.

It canโ€™t be as bad as west Nile so Iโ€™ll roll the dice on shingles

      • Evan from Evansville

No shit: Shingles won’t kill ya, but pain for pain? It rivals several broken ribs.

      • Threedoor

        Havenโ€™t tried those yet.
Never been bitten by a rattlesnake or hit by lightning before either.

      • rhywun

I guess (?) Shingrix is effective and trusted?

I told them I’m not doing anything experimental or seasonal – we’ll see how that goes.

      • Chafed

Why do you have to redo the baby schedule? I’ve never heard of that.

      • rhywun

Stem cell transplant. I’m like a baby again.

      • Chafed

Holy cow. I had no idea. I hope it fixed whatever it was meant for.

      • R C Dean

Shingles can cause permanent damage. I know one guy who got a serious case of tinnitus from it, and Iโ€™ve heard of people getting vision impairment from it.

I had the easiest possible case of it – a few pustules(?) on my back (I thought they were spider bites), but Mrs. Dean spotted them, somehow thought they were shingles hustled me off to the doc. Donโ€™t recall what he gave me, but it worked.

    What could go wrong?

An agent workspace is a separate, contained space in Windows where you can grant agents access to your apps and files so they can complete tasks for you in the background while you continue to use your device. Each agent operates using its own account, distinct from your personal user account. This dedicated agent account establishes clear boundaries between agent activity and your own, enabling scoped authorization and runtime isolation. As a result, you can delegate tasks to agents while retaining full control, visibility into agent actions, and the ability to manage access at any time.

Also I have jury duty tomorrow do actually want properly answer the juror question related to jury nullification.

If I do I wonโ€™t be asked to serve.

    • rhywun

Do they really ask that? I’ve only been called up twice and it never got past the stage where I told them I work for an insurance company.

Would you have any difficulty or reluctance in accepting the law as explained by the court and applying it to the facts regardless of your personal beliefs about what the law should be or is?

      • Threedoor

Now that I donโ€™t have any social media I expect to get called up.

If they ask me Iโ€™ll tell a truth about jury nullification.

        My truth?
        The truth?
        The party line?

        Who knows.

      • rhywun

Jeez it’s been so long maybe they did ask that and I don’t remember.

I hate drama so I’d probably give the expected answer, shamefully.

  6. Brochettaward

I’m going to bring up that Fuentes character again.

Ben Shapiro is leading the charge to cancel him while claiming he’s not trying to cancel him like a little weasel. Shapiro refuses to debate or engage with Fuentes because he doesn’t want to provide him a platform as if Fuentes doesn’t already have a massive platform and following. He’s using the same sophistry the left used for years to avoid confronting icky inconvenient ideologies.

Shapiro is a fucking fraud. When has he ever been afraid of engaging in debate? I guess it’s different when it’s just some batshit insane progressive or commie who believes in infinite genders and man wombs, though. It’s a bit easier.

Shapiro is smart enough to know what he’s doing (trying to cancel Fuentes for speech he disapproves of), smart enough to know how effective silencing debate actually is, and smart enough to know the failed history of attempting to suppress icky ideologies. Banning the Nazis didn’t work, now did it? Still hasn’t eradicated the movement in Germany to this fucking day.

But he’s also smart enough to preserve his livelihood, I guess. He has to maintain his image as some sort of faux intellectual on the right. Actually intellectuals don’t respect him, but he still has some small iota of support from the boomer pro-Israel wing of the MAGA movement, I guess. Need to keep those sheckles flowing in.

What it looks like to me. Fuentes may be an asshole, but he’s witty and pretty fucking smart. That’s not an endorsement of his ideology as I understand it. More than that, I think Fuentes is actually authentic whereas Shapiro is a fucking bought for and paid for fool. He’s an Isreali court jester at this point masquerading as America First. It’s Shapiro that is the no-shit grifter engaging in ridiculous sophistry left and right to maintain the image of having anything resembling a coherent set of principles by which he operates. It’s embarrassing.

    • Tres Cool

Word round the watercooler is that you hate Jews. Is that true ?

      • Bobbo

        En vino veritas?
        Or just hates Jews?

      • Aloysious

Fuentes’ is the new hotness, right? To a point, I guess. Supposedly the bulk of his followers are in the 18-25(?) y/o bracket. If young men are as disaffected as the news portrays them to be, then they probably aren’t going to be very excited about an old guy like Shapiro who is a deeply entrenched member of the current system.

Therefor, Shapiro would see Fuentes as a threat to his influence, maybe a threat to the revenue stream of his business. I think the biggest threat to Shapiro and whatever influence he has is himself. Embracing cancel culture and deplatforming is damaging. All anyone would have to say is, “How progressive of you, Ben.”

If Ben Shapiro or anyone else calls for deplatforming or silencing of debate, they need to get laughed at by everybody, right before they get told to go climb a tree.

      • Brochettaward

Bingo and stated below as well.

    • Threedoor

He was always a bit cringy bit after the Gaza war heโ€™s been insufferable.

Iโ€™ve never liked Barbara Streisand. Is she a Jew?

    • Chafed

Good Lord, bro. You keep banging the drum for Fuentes. He’s smart? Show me proof.

“Thatโ€™s not an endorsement of his ideology as I understand it.” Be explicit. What do you understand it to be?

      • Brochettaward

Proof? His opponents are deathly afraid of actually engaging with him.

As for his ideology, Groyperism to me seems to be a form of white nationalism.

      • Brochettaward

Or maybe I’m just the sort of guy who has never said some ideas are too dangerous for me to debate. I don’t know.

      • Chafed

Weak sauce. Both Thomas Chatterton Wiiliams and Noam Dworman have invited him on their podcasts. I’d be unsurprised if there are others. He hasn’t accepted an invitation.

As for his ideology, does his white nationalism include overt antisemitism?

      • Brochettaward

I’ve honestly never heard of either of them. I enacted some labor and looked both up. Noam Dworman has a podcast that gets like 10k views if he’s lucky and has all of 45k subscribers on Youtube. Thomas Chatterton Williams doesn’t seem to have his own show? I don’t know, but again…not a big draw. Both supposedly have roughly 150k followers on Twitter. So followings that are a fraction of the size of that of Fuentes and audiences with little crossover appeal I’d imagine.

It’s great that they’re willing to debate Fuentes unlike the cowards on the right who want to cancel him but refuse to debate him under the guise of refusing to give him a platform (which he already has), but that doesn’t mean there’s anything in it for Fuentes.

I don’t think those situations are comparable. Fuentes is obviously clout chasing with all this and trying to attract followers, but he has engaged with conservative personalities in the past willing to give him the space to do so. You could say that’s a reason for a Shaprio not to engage with him further, but the problem is that Shapiro’s audience is actually shrinking while Fuentes seems to be growing rapidly (I don’t buy that it’s just a bot army) despite attempts to deplatform him that go back over half a decade now. What they’ve been doing isn’t working.

And I’m perfectly fine labeling Fuentes as anti-Semitic. Believe it or not, I have never seen anything but clips from Fuentes (one full podcast he did with Alex Jones the exception) and not that many. But the guy is witty and entertaining/funny often times from what I’ve observed. My brother has become a big fan, as I’ve stated (we do not have much crossover in our beliefs period).

My post was far more about mocking the right wing pseudo intellectuals who fancy themselves champions of the public debate sphere who refuse to engage with a guy they claim is some sort of dangerous clown. Their arguments for refusing to do so are piss poor and blatantly contradictory. They’re using the same tactics against Fuentes as the left used against them for years and that seems undeniable to me.

I also like internet drama having grown up with it.

      • Brochettaward

And the crux of the issue here is Israel. There is a divide among younger people on the right and the older generation/boomers in MAGA land. It doesn’t split perfectly down the middle like that, but it’s a real trend. The younger MAGA types are really questioning why Israel has such an outsized influence on US policy, and there was a massive void there and inherent contradiction with the notion of America First which they bought into. And guys like Shapiro planted their flag firmly in camp Israel and never managed to give anything resembling a coherent, rational, or persuasive answer as to why it was in the best interests of America. It’s just a lot of rara emotional appeal bullshit, and in Shapiro’s case an obvious conflict of interest given his Jewishness. Then Shapiro goes and says some really dumb fucking shit over the years that leads people to rationally conclude that, hey, he sure does seem to care a lot more about the well being of Israelis compared to Americans. And, hey, he sure does seem to be fine with them engaging in social welfare while we fund their wars while telling younger Americans to basically get good at life or simply pick up and move if they can’t afford where they’re at (despite being a guy who pontificates on bullshit for a living).

Who is going to fill that void and square those circles for them? You’re going to get a guy like Fuentes, and if you believe Fuentes is a piece of shit, if you’re a guy like Shapiro you have no one to blame but yourself for his rise. And it’s a really bad look to refuse to nut-up and actually engage with that guy.

And Shapiro, for his many warts, is intelligent. Intelligent enough to engage in the mental gymnastics to rationalize his pro-Israeli bias while still maintaining some semblance of a following in MAGA land and be aware of what he’s doing.

Woah. Seeing a commercial on TV for Swisher Sweets. Tons of smoking and smoke, cherry and drags, partying, all. Mostly black.

That’s definitely a first for me. I didn’t know that was allowed now. Uh, well. Big Pharma just got Big Competition. I’m sure much watershed rules. Watching Law & Order on WEtv.
(Season 5. Still Chris Noth. Still don’t get why he was such a sex symbol, Mr. Big, especially. Admittedly, never watched that show nor am I attracted to men. Still, I get some folk, not him.)

    • Threedoor

I canโ€™t remember a tobacco add since Joe camel and Virginia Slims.

      • Threedoor

Has to be that itโ€™s streaming and not broadcast.

Mr Big was sexy because he was physically large and had money. Not because of his looks.

      • Evan from Evansville

        Does compute.

Seems I was led to believe he was a lothario of the visual sort. He ain’t ugly and he ain’t small. I also think SJParker is cute, sometimes ravishing. Well. Hocus Pocus. Need no special bewitchin,’ ditzy witch.

I hate the smell of dope but OMG the smell of cigarillos is a 1000x worse. ๐Ÿคฎ

      • Tres Cool

I always liked the smell of weed, and the taste. Sadly the effects on me aren’t “as advertised”.
I become a neurotic pile of paranoia.

      • rhywun

I like the effects. Or I did in college and until 2005 or so. The newer stuff is a bit much for me.

      • rhywun

        2005 more like 1995

      • Chafed

        Are cigarillos still being made?

      • Bobbo

Yes, I smoke them instead of cigarettes,
        Remington vanilla.
        15$ a carton,

      • Evan from Evansville

Swisher Sweets are solely made to be opened and gutted to make an easily rollable blunt.

I was unaware people actually ‘smoked’ them as is.

      • Bobbo

Evan, I discovered my filtered cigars through my sons blunt habit. Mixing tobacco and weed is gross imo

  8. Chafed

I’m watching MNF and considering my life choices. This game is just terrible. Dallas blows despite having a good coach. Las Vegas is a joke but I want to congratulate Mark Davis for discovering he doesn’t have to put a bowl on his head to get a haircut. There is something gratifying watching Pete Carroll struggle and I’m not proud of it.

    • rhywun

Two teams I have zero interest in.
