Yep! Big footballs weekend. We’re not far from entering a six month football drought, and Spud is melancholy. The spring league just doesn’t cut it. Oh, well. Guess I’ll go somewhere warm next month.

Links?

Good luck with that, Lou.

Everybody hates the Dutch.

DHS has always been a bad idea, you stupid fucks.

It was around long before Good got popped in the head.

“It’s an extremely ambitious goal.”

Putting his money where his mouth is.

OMB is just pissing people off all over the world. That’s like half their population.

Ideology, above all else.

Shout out to whoever raptor4916 is. This is why this place exists. From the Twitters:

@raptor4916

The reason commentariat went to shit when reason refused to cover a female relative of a commentator got the absolute tar beaten out of her by the police in order to run another Trump bad piece.

@wartyhugeman

probably can give more details.

Alright, that’s it for me. Peace out, Glibbies.

I do enjoy me some Blues Traveler.

Liberal academics have been diagnosing what they see as the problem.

    Preach, sisters.

/dedthread alleyoop: re: NFL – It’s good I don’t care about football cuz I’m always rooting for an exciting game. Hopefully I get ’em. But I kinda like the Bills cuz Buffalo’s a small market and underdogish. I kinda like the Broncos cuz Dad like Elway, who *was* fun. And Manning won there, too. So that’s nice. Go good games. And fuck the Dodgers. (We may agree on that, yes?)

    • Nephilium

      Same statement as before.

      Elway is the freaking devil.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I am now a Dodgers fan. ish. My grandfather was born in LA, and since SF has no baseball team, just cheaters and junkies, I will root for them now that the A’s have moved to LV.

    • rhywun

Overtime. Huh, wasn’t expecting that after giving up hope multiple times across several quarters.

      • Chafed

        This is a tight game.

Have repeated aloud what many here said: Take away the helmets if you don’t want head on head contact. Start of the 3rd? Same tackles, no helmets? Uh. 911. For both dudes. (Likely four, actually.)

    • rhywun

That gets you about half of the way to rugby or Aussie Rules. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • Evan from Evansville

I think rugby’s great! My favorite sport after baseball and hockey. (I did play both.) I mentioned the other day, my favorite sporting moment was a surprise ‘Join us!’ ticket to the World Rugby Sevens in Hong Kong. I stand by it.

I ‘get’ football, but never played, so I don’t ‘get-get’ it and have zero care. Basketball sucks cuz each point doesn’t matter. (You’re gonna score 100 more, so no worries!) Soccer is…damn. Just boring. “Center holds it. Holds it… HOLDS IT!!!” I’d rather watch figure skating or just dancing if attractive girls are involved, and I hold dancing in a level of hell lower than Judas and Brutus know.

There are signs that the categorization of Ms. Good as a radical may not be taking hold among the broader public.

More a pathetic hapless dupe than a terrorist.

    • R C Dean

      Pathetic, hapless, deluded, entitled.

      But no, not a terrorist.

Arrest the AWFLs, charge them with felonies, and the supply will start to dry up.

This. Flood the zone with black SUVs, when they pull one of the roadblock tricks, pull them out, cuff them, arrest for interfering with a federal officer, and tow the car.

        Continue the deportations.

(the point is cost: time, money, dignity.

      • EvilSheldon

Or…beat them into a three week hospital stay. Certainly a bad look, but probably cheaper and more effective.

      • Nephilium

        EvilSheldon:

Give them probation. Make them check in every week and piss in a cup. Shame them.

      • EvilSheldon

Neph: That’s even better. For a lot of reasons.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Agree. Unless there’s a legit assault, of which there have been many, shaming is as likely to be effective as beatings (for a variety of reasons) or jail.

Of course these dumb cunts will likely wear it as a badge, Instagramming their piss tests.

        Some people are completely broken.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Shame is an amazingly powerful tool.

    • rhywun

      And so what?

Of course, she and the many like her are radicals but more importantly they are being trained for some sort of lame-ass “insurrection” by a web of billionaire-funded NGOs.

I would expect it to continue and probably get worse and more “serious” leading into summer. Buckle up.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I’d say she qualified as a radical, but it’s over the top to call her a terrorist.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Yeah, I think framing it that way has done a disservice. She’s no more a terrorist than we are far-right Nazis.

No one is buying that rhetoric. Even those who support what’s actually being done.

Woah. Indeed good on, observant of Raptor. Either lurker or possibly someone we ‘know?’

William Vanderhoop, a member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head Aquinnah, has run Tomahawk Charters, a whale-watching and charter-fishing business for decades. In a statement announcing the lawsuit, Vanderloop said his business has also been devastated by the turbines.

“The Biden Administration chose a big, foreign-owned wind company, Vineyard Wind, over local businessmen, hurt my business and jacked up our electric rates in the process, all in the name of a big green lie,” Vanderhoop said.

Vanderhoop. That’s an interesting Indian name.

    • SarumanTheWoefullyIgnorant

Dutch-Indian intermarriages during the colonial era were surprisingly common. In those days Albany was practically a frontier town and had a thriving trade going on with the Indians. Quite a few Iroquois have Dutch blood. I wasn’t aware they interbred with the Wampanoag, but them traders got around.

      • Evan from Evansville

Hrm. Sounds hot. Real hot. Thought: Seems a fun dichotomy in humans that sorta explains itself. Foreign girls are hot for all sorts of biological reasons. So The Other is desired. But folk wanna hoard/ protect Their women, so gotta keep The Other away, otherwise The Other will steal Our women! Fight or trade.

Other thought: First ‘serious’ girlfriend was Indian (born in Canada); second ‘serious’ was (still with us) a coloured South African; Minnesota Munchkin is also Indian, but raised in CO. Third gf, HYPER short-term cuz her bipolar included lawsuit threats within 6mo, was Arab (born Stateside).

One ‘Indian’ and the ‘Arab’ both studied law, and the other ‘Indian,’ (Munch), studied poly-sci and I’ve tried to lure here. (She’s most akin to Suthen’s line of thought, maybe?) I think thought-lines attracted me, not their colors, though I know it didn’t hurt.

So we had protests at the Capitol in Boise this morning. I hope that they were protesting the words ‘stagnant air’ used constantly by the modern weather services.

    • Spudalicious

We did? Yeah, they better be protesting this fucking inversion.

      • Aloysious

It’s probably too much to ask that these pro-simpers protest the bloated budgets of the government schools and their minions.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

My huge beef with modern weather services was their switching out the scientific and mathematical term to describe temperature, “average”, and subbing in a personal judgment call and using “normal.”

They’re telling you how much a temperature deviated from the average, by calling it normal.

“Today’s high was 37 today, 3 degrees above normal.”

Is so goddamn dishonest it makes me want to choke a bitch.

      • Ownbestenemy

        Yep a sneaky use.

    • Threedoor

      I was through on Wednesday.
      Weather was nice.
It was still Boise though, got the bypass on the weigh station. That was nice.

Student/Refugee Horror House sounds like the new apartment building across the street from me I’ve mentioned a few times that’s about 2/3 working poor and 1/3 drug-dealing meth-heads they rounded up from the urban campground behind the WalMart.

    • Nephilium

The working poor haven’t explained with percussive results to them how things need to be? Or would that cause police involvement?

      • rhywun

The cops are there every day – along with ambulances and fire trucks to handle the frequent overdoses and arson.

I feel somewhat sorry for the poors – the local media are extreme leftists and therefore big fans of the “housing first” nonsense that leads to putting vagrants in apartments they can’t possibly succeed in. The poors didn’t ask to be put next to those unfortunates but to socialists they’re all interchangeable – people who need our “help”.

      • rhywun

I meant to add that the media don’t give any sense of what the poors feel about all this. They are all about trashing the management and driving sympathy for the “formerly unhoused” who are the direct cause of all of the problems.

      • Nephilium

        rhywun:

I ask because I can see if something like that happened in certain neighborhoods around here, the addicts would have an uptick of overdoses, and the marginal ones would clean up or move out.

      • rhywun

        clean up or move out

I don’t see any evidence of that happening here. The city is *really* invested in trying to give the impression that this fantasy works.

The OD’s are probably being replaced with fresh recruits from The Jungle (not kidding, that is what everyone calls the homeless camps on the west side of town) – there is an endless supply of them, probably drawn there from across upstate NY and northern PA.

  10. Rat on a train

A judge has ruled federal agents can’t retaliate against peaceful protesters or stop people in their cars if they aren’t obstructing operations.
    ICE is finished.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

So the judge means to say that ICE can carry on doing exactly what it’s been doing?

Because they haven’t been “retaliating” against peaceful protestors, if they even exist at this point, or stopping people who aren’t stopping them.

There’s a very simple solution to the entire problem, but the sanctuary idiots won’t have any of it.

It seems to me that it’s about time the Justice Dept brought these sanctuary state/city leaders to court and settle this shit once and for all. Mayors can’t just ignore federal law.

      • rhywun

The sanctuary idiots want more violence in the hopes that public pressure will open the borders and flood the nation with more millions of illegals who can pump up Dem representation at census time like in the good old days.

settle this shit once and for all

Yes. We know the dirty tricks the Dems will stoop to in order to keep the game going. It’s gonna get much worse if they aren’t stopped soon.

  11. Muzzled Woodchipper

How out of touch do you need to be to believe that AWFL is new, and how deluded to think it’s BECAUSE of the retard?

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

        Sweet.

The pool hall I played for has long since closed down.

    • rhywun

As out-of-touch as the average NYT reader.

I like Blues Traveler. I especially like that time when John Popper got pulled over doing 110 in his G 63 AMG, with three ounces of Northern Lights and about a dozen top-shelf firearms (including one custom .50BMG) concealed in cargo area. Be like John Popper.

    • rhywun

Not a fan-fan but I liked the big hit or two that were everywhere way back when and I liked his appearance on Roseanne.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

That fat mitherfucker can sing his ass off and play the fuck out of a harmonica.

  13. JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I’m at Yosemite this weekend. They want to charge non-US residents $100 entry fees. In theory I’m not opposed to charging them more. I pay more than EU citizens for entry to European museums and sites. But $100 is a bit much.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

      Yeah, that’s bad.

I’m not convinced they should pay more at all. I think the cash they spend here in hotels, on food, and in entertainment is sufficient. I’m perfectly okay with sharing a slice of America (so long as they go back when their visas expire).

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Given the line at the entry gate I’m ok with charging the same price too. I don’t want to make the wait longer, which is what will happen if they start checking IDs.

      • slumbrew

I’m inclined to agree with you.

      • rhywun

Agree with all of the above, and I don’t even understand what the rationale for this is supposed to be.

      • dbleagle

Have fun. Yosemite in winter used to be empty and the waterfalls were rimed around them.

Foreigners should pay more. Double seems about right. Yeah EU nations I am looking at you for charging non-EU citizens more.

      • Chafed

It’s all of a piece with Trump’s belief foreigners cost us money any time they have contact with us.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I lived in Merced for a few years, just at the bottom of the hill from Yos. and loved going up there in the winter. Place was empty, outside of Badger pass, and you could just cruise around.

When I was a Boy Scout, we did a snowshoe two day trip out of Badger one year. Holy crap that was a lot of work, and super cool.

    • slumbrew

Yow, just saw that. Huge loss for them.

    • creech

Backup hasn’t thrown a pass on two years? Surely there were games this year where Broncs were ahead by enough to put the backup in to get experience? Second stringers don’t get enough playing time in NFL, then a starter gets hurt and team suffers.

      • Chafed

        Jimmy Garrapolo nods in agreement.

  15. Chafed

    Forty Niners are getting pounded.

    • rhywun

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Yes, my ‘Hawks are doing nicely.

Close to the ‘maybe DHS was a bad idea’ article: “We don’t know what was going through Ross’s head as he recorded Good on his phone and reached for his weapon. As Good attempted to drive away, Ross opened fire. Ross had nearly two decades of Homeland Security service at that point. He killed an American citizen, on a residential street in an American city, and as Good’s car careened away, a voice could be heard—reportedly Ross’s—saying, “Fucking bitch.”’

Uh, maybe he was expressing what a fucking bitch he thinks she is after hitting him with a car. *taps temple* The more ya know.

    • Chafed

I don’t know if the shooting was justified or not. I have a bunch of questions about shooting video with his phone in one hand while aiming and firing his gun with his other hand.

      • Evan from Evansville

Agreed on the phone bit. I also think it was a bad shoot. Didn’t know about the phone thing til yesterday(?). Kinda helps my take, assisted by a comment by someone here: Panic fire, which I get is ‘understandable’ as a human reaction, but shouldn’t be for a cop, etc. The assist: No regard for ‘what’s behind his target.’ Extra dangerous, and the whole thing likely warrants some sort of manslaughter or something.

(The ‘bad shoot’ also makes it almost ‘purposefully’ divisive. They trained on tactics designed to create martyrs, Example #…? Floyd, Maryland Man, Good…)

The media, and now folk on my FB, insist on using “murder.” It wasn’t fucking premeditated, idiotically useful assholes. Another great demonstration of how endless-repeat of The Narrative plays in real Orwellian time as Believers happily proudly adopt it themselves. Fuck. (How ‘proud’ they are of their adherence freaks me out the most. ‘I could show them pictures and all the facts, and they still wouldn’t believe it.’

      • Nephilium

I think it was a questionable shoot that was instigated by the victim.

I’m getting more and more annoyed each time I have to stand up for the fucking cops.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

I think it was a legally justified shoot, instigated by the retard in the car.

I’m not about to judge a guy who was hit by car.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

irregardless of where you come down on it, this really does show how there are many perspectives, and that trying to judge something that you weren’t there a witness too is kinda hard. I am not saying you shouldn’t have an opinion about it, but the facts come out rather slow, and two people can see the same thing and come to entirely different answers to it.

    • rhywun

We don’t know what was going through Ross’s head

…but we’re going to tell you anyway.

      • Chafed

Those “experts” don’t get paid for staying silent.

      • dbleagle

Speaking from personal experience, Ross’s comment was much less than mine after various POS tried to kill me. It was a perfectly understandable reaction.

OMWC’s “most important link” from this morning had it right. The people pulling the AWFUL’s strings wanted this to happen, hell they needed this to happen.

It’s a sign how much the media hates Trump that they can’t even admit the First Lady is a smokeshow.

      • Chafed

That is ridiculous. And yes, an excellent illustration of your point.

    • Evan from Evansville

Gotta give Abigail my vote. (I’m sure I’m forgetting many. And, yeah. The forgettable ones are likely the ‘best.’) I really liked the series with Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney, who’s likely my favorite actress. Stannis Baratheon may be Jefferson.

Mom wrote and performed a one-woman play as Mary Todd, set I think mid Civil War when Lincoln’s away for… something. Dad’s written and produced plays, but thank fuck he knows he should never act.

      • Evan from Evansville

Obviously not on the Hotness Front, obviously. More on the ‘important.’ I’m pretty much talking about their letters, which I may be forgetting. Most Interesting First Lady? Most literate, perhaps.

I’m well stoned and watching Rick & Morty. Melania is *obviously* the hottest. Damn. Damn Damn.
