In lieu of music or Swiss news, we have a sports update that sloopy forgot this morning.

As always, the comments are open and yours.

The CHP said traffic was reduced to a single lane during clean-up operations and warned drivers to “expect major delays.”
“Major delays”. How is that different from normal driving in California?
I don’t know how anyone can tell what happened.
The photo was too grainy.
I barley got your pun.
STEVE SMITH HAVE ALIBI. WAS DRIVING LOAD OF RAPESEED.
These puns are corny.
These comments hang like a millstone around Switzy’s neck.
*MASS NARROWED GAZE*
Does our punning really grind your gears, Switzy?
Maize narrowed gaze.
The March 22, 2016 attacks claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group left 32 people dead and more than 300 wounded โ Belgium’s worst peacetime massacre.
“Our country will never forget,” King Phillipe told a crowd of hundreds gathered around a monument to the victims. “We did not give in to fear, we did not give in to division.”
“We’re going to invite the jihadis in even harder now and give them more welfare, so that maybe they’ll kill us last.”
No sh*t. Europe learned nothing.
‘Learnt’.
Passive surrender voice.
Diversity is our strength! Once we are so diverse that Islamic fundamentalists are in the majority and have established a theocracy, we will no longer have to worry about them mass-murdering non-Muslims.
Thanks for the sports update. Now instead of my wife being happy about sports, it’s my brother who is doing a happy dance.
I was hoping for a CBU v SMC final.

On the plus side, it wasnโt THAT much grain. And it wasnโt green grain.

If it’s “bipartisan” it has to be good idea!

I’m torn on that one. There’s clearly fuckery going on with all the gambling money sloshing around.
And all the gambling sites are in thick with teams and stadiums. No conflicts there, I’m sure.
Leagues should be the ones to make their own sponsorship rules. If they want to bar gambling sites from having financial deals with the teams then vaya con dios. This is the steroids in baseball shit all over again.

Find the pea. It’s right there under the cup.
Roid rage?
If this account is true, the neighbor done FA and FO. If.
Jesus, the dude is the size of a gorilla. What was the neighbor thinking?
Thatโs a lot of speed thinking. Would also like neighborsโ opinion on โracing.โ If heโs with his daughters on ATVs I seriously doubt he is racing.
In my younger days I was at a bar with one of the offensive linemen from the 49ers, a friend of a friend. It was fascinating to watch people acting passive aggressive toward him trying to provoke a reaction, and some of the guys doing it weren’t even that big.
It’s why Tyson always needed to have bodyguards (and may still). Some guys just can’t help trying to poke the bear.

TBF, it’d be great if the video didn’t start in media res.
But, yes, his kids being with him points away from him instigating it, absent some history of doing that sort of thing (which I have never seen mentioned).
TMZ has a video of the neighbor basically confirming this account. He was upset and went into the street to confront Ritchson about his riding. I just today had a workman jump out of the back of his pickup directly in front of my car as I drove down the street. Had a car been either coming or parked on the other side, I would have hit it. Had I been on a bike, I would have likely layed it down. Popping out in front of traffic is not smart and I could see how it caused a problem.
Good news for the day
I’m not going to celebrate death of another person, but for this guy I’ll make an exception.
Indeed. Good riddance to that monster.
Agreed. And I hope to never read anything so horrific again.
That was one of those stories I deliberately didn’t read about, because I know I’d never get that out of my head. Justice was served on earth, and hopefully divine justice was also served.

A Lager a day
Perhaps the secrete elixir to agelessness is in the beer itself. Dilullo told the brewery that she drinks a lager a day to keep her young.
To help keep Dilullo on schedule, Yuengling gifted her a truckload of suds that she happily enjoyed with friends in a video posted to their Twitter page.

EPA will expedite NH’s emissions testing waiver request
The EPA typically has up to 18 months to make a decision on state petitions, but it now says it will have a proposed decision by early summer and a final decision before the end of this year.
To me that means “yes.”
I still haven’t taken my stickers off. I wanted to see how the drama shook out. I think I’ll take them off soon.
Free that windshield!
Texas used to have not one, but two giant stickers you had to put on your car. It was retarded. We at least got down to one sticker under governor hot wheels.
Lol, the first year I moved here they had just repealed the inspection requirement, but it didn’t kick in until the following year. It was still just the one sticker though. $7 a year to have some schmuck tell me my lights and seatbelt work…
Theyโre in the process of repealing here. I have an ABS code that I havenโt fully diagnosed, so I need to find a shop that is less picky about what codes the truck throws.
@RJ, but they didn’t used to make you have to pass inspection to get registration. Most cops were sympathetic to a lapsed inspection with current registration.

Don’t run backwards for the ball, people. Safety first.
Isn’t the better advice not to play pickleball?
That would be incorrect because pickleball is, in fact, a lot of fun. Which, funnily enough, is why it’s become enormously popular.
How many pickleball deaths a year? Could we have prevented this with common sense pickleball control?
Like
cornholebean bag toss, pickle ball is perfect example of the infantilization of American culture.Name aside, I’m unclear on how it’s infantalizing. It’s a racket sport, that can be played casually and can be played competitively.
Anything that gets people active is good. Tennis players think that everyone would just play tennis if pickleball were banned. That’s delusional.
Yeah, I don’t get the condemnation myself. Probably from people who live next to it.
Probably from people who live next to it.
That’s not without merit – the sound is sharper-pitched than tennis and I don’t know if I’d want to hear it all day. But I wouldn’t want to live next to a busy tennis court either.
Ping pong paddles and whiffle balls…
The Aggasi pickleball tournament was very entertaining last year – I’ll tune in again.
Aggasi is a perfect ambassador here – his back is too messed up to play tennis these days but he can handle pickleball.
I would try it out. Looks like fun.
Tennis is not fun unless you’re already good at it.
Eh. If I die during a freak pickleball accident, please tell people I choked to death on dick in a gay bathhouse. It would be less embarrassing.
Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with pickleball. Just dying while playing it.
I was thinking the other day, I wouldn’t mind taking up racquetball again, if I could find a convenient place. I wasn’t bad at it back in college.
EvilSheldon was killed in tragic kiln accident.
I think the big thing I have about pickleball is the sudden popularity feels like astroturfing to me.
Could just as well be a fleeting trend. Millennials in particular love a bandwagon.
As if he was a Spinal Tap drummer.
Is it one of those weird pickleball incidents where you accidentally fall violently headfirst onto a pair of bullets?

…Have you and Maryland Man ever been seen in the same room?
I’m with rhy on this one. There’s a lot of movement and finger-y things going on there for a quadriplegic. You could also be Alleged Accomplice of Maryland Man.
“Quadruple amputee pro cornhole player” Dayton James Webber, 27, is facing charges of first- and second-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Bradrick Michael Wells… According to the Charles County Sheriffโs Office, ๐๐๐๐๐๐ซ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ฒ ๐ง๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ข๐จ ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐จ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ง ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ญ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฌ, ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ญ-๐ฌ๐๐๐ญ ๐ฉ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ, ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ… Webber pulled over and asked the two other passengers to help remove Wells from the car, deputies said, but they refused, left the scene…”
Um. Huh. Gotta say. That’s a helluva story. Damn.

Propaganda mill
A handful of journalists have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration for allegedly seeking to use the Voice of America (VOA) to promote propaganda and censor news coming out of the White House.
Two VOA journalists alongside two past reporters signed on to a Monday complaint in the U.S. District Court for D.C. with Pen America and Reporters without Borders, both press freedom groups, alleging their First Amendment rights were violated.
——-
โThe importance of reliable, accurate, and comprehensive programming from USAGM and its networks is most pronounced during major international conflicts, crises, and regime changes, like the recent Iran War,โ the complaint says.
โThe availability of accurate and transparent reporting is not merely a matter of good journalistic practice; it is a fundamental safeguard against propaganda, misinformation, and the manipulation of public understanding during international crises such as these,โ it continues.
Plaintiffs are urging the court to grant relief from viewpoint discrimination, award nominal damages and cover their attorney fees in addition to any other relief deemed just.
Strangely enough this piece is pretty much devoid of actual information other than the usual vacuous platitudes about “press freedom”.
The very existence of VOA is to promote propaganda. There’s no “… only when the president is a Democrat” clause.
“seeking to use the Voice of America (VOA) to promote propaganda”
Wasn’t that the entire point of VOA?
*fist bumps TOK*
I guess we’re pretending that VOA wasn’t always explicit propaganda.
Whee!
*sigh*
Name the plaintiffs, fuckheads. I bet it includes the one from the last lawsuit that isn’t even an American. Truly rich that VOA is hiring non Americans to do official propaganda. Lost the plot.
“Freedom of the press” apparently means that the government has to provide you with a job to do your journalisming.
This is a week old, but considering that the source is Al Jazeera, I have to scratch my head and say “hmmm.”
When you look at what has actually happened to Iranโs principal instruments of power โ its ballistic missile arsenal, its nuclear infrastructure, its air defences, its navy and its proxy command architecture โ the picture is not one of US failure. It is one of systematic, phased degradation of a threat that previous administrations allowed to grow for four decades.
The Arabs aren’t unhappy that the Persians are getting whacked without being directly involved.
This. Even they are sick of Iran’s shit.
Isn’t Al Jazeera Qatar, which was generally closer to Iran than the other Gulf states?
Bahrain is 45% Shia, and they are the ones friendly with Iran. Qatar is 5% Shia.
Iran struck Bahrain anyway because of the US Navy base there.
Is anybody surprised that this was a military success? Iran was and is outmatched, as all sides knew they would be. The โfailureโ comes when some knucklehead drives a truck through a parade in Louisville or shoots up a bunch of Jewish ambulances in London. The โfailureโ comes when we can no longer squash the remaining cockroaches with cruise missiles and bomber planes and we have to insert an occupation force. The โfailureโ comes when the Iranian equivalent of ISIS forms and starts causing trouble anew across the region.
Hardly anybody is dumb enough to think Iran was a bad idea because we were somehow going to fail to gain air superiority or fail to degrade their traditional military capabilities. Itโs bad because weโre thisclose to doing Iraq and Afghanistan over again, and all we get for it is $4/gallon gas.
the picture is not one of US failure. It is one of systematic, phased degradation of a threat that previous administrations allowed to grow for four decades.
Whaaat? Those poor peace loving Iranians were just minding their own business, building a prosperous cohesive nation when Trump snuck up and dropped the hammer on them for no reason other than Netanyahu threatening to tell everybody what a pussy he is.
Don’t forget kids, Trump is a rabid anti-Semite Nazi, except when he’s a Zionist puppet under direct control of Jewish space laser tricknology.
It’s a floor cleaner and a dessert topping.
I did my own study on beer & longevity.
https://platedlizard.blogspot.com/2026/03/beer-and-longevity.html
It’s interesting that there are some countries with higher annual per capita beer consumption and life expectancy than the US. Consumption in the Czech Republic amounts to about a pint per person per day. I suspect a scatter plot with more countries would show a positive correlation between beer consumption and longevity. The simplest explanation for that is countries that spend more on beer can also afford more healthcare.
Counterproductive?
To date, he noted, policy measures being talked about to keep the prices down at the pump, such as no-tax holidays, are in a sense almost perverse measures because they seek to support demand. โIn a situation like this, we kind of want demand destruction to allow the price to stay stable, or maybe even go back down, because of how problematic this is for the consumer,โ he said.
Who’s going to tell the voters?
demand destruction . . . for the consumer

If the U.S. or Israel hit more Iranian oil export facilities, โI would expect them, with whatever they have left, to asymmetrically go after oil production facilities in all the surrounding countries,โ Kilduff said. โThe UAE is sort of the closest and easiest to hit. So thatโs why theyโre doing that.โ
โThis was one of the unknowns. What would Iran do in response? Would they go after their neighbors? Would they be like what I call โthe drowning man syndrome,โ where you go to save somebody and they take you down with them? It looks like that for the Iranians. They are looking, in fact, to take everyone down with them,โ Kilduff said. โItโs clear that the Iranians are looking to spread the pain, and theyโve turned out to be fairly good at it,โ he added. โIf you were to hear about a successful Iranian attack on meaningful Saudi or Kuwait or Iraq infrastructure, then this price jumps up $20 a barrel in no time. Itโs โbuy now, ask questions laterโ mode for traders in the market.โ
I think the question is, “How completely suicidal is whoever is in charge in Iran?”
What happens when they start taking out the water desalinization plants in the region?
rules for gunfights by a combat infantry veteran
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXyg8dnhtPk
It’s solid advice, though I suspect most of us here know it all already.
gist: have a gun, don’t go it alone, see them first, it’ll be over fast, get behind cover, run for better cover, tracers work both ways, call for backup, longer fight = more casualties, rifle >> pistol, shoot from the hip, flank them before they flank you
Some of it is not applicable to 1 on 1 street gunfights. In those cases, you are either quick or dead. The only way to win is to draw faster and shoot straighter than the other guy.
I don’t blame cops too much for not using their pistols to take down a guy with a rifle, though many cops have rifles in their cars these days.
Staying Swiss themed.
Sennheiser’s headphone division is for sale
This is interesting. Wired headphones are enjoying new popularity. So this may be them trying to get out when the going is good.
They are high end standard used in professional applications across the world. The danger is somebody buys them cheapens them, stops R&D and rides the brand into the ground. An example of that would be Fisher. From amazing U.S. receivers and top shelf stuff in the 60s to all in one rack systems in the 80s and 90s to death.
In those days it took 20 plus years. I bet PE can do it in under a decade today.
