Yeah, grim times in the Spud household. Somehow, I got a stress fracture in my left foot……walking. I mean yeah, I was power walking at the start of a workout, but still. It’s friggin’ retarded.
Speaking of retarded, how about some Links?
Speaking of retards across the pond…
Revoke these retards passports.
Speaking of Team Red retard and cranking the hog. His war boner has to be painful at this point.
Okay, that’s it for this broken retard. Time to go sit in the sun. Peace out, Glibbies.
All the retard songs are retarded. So here’s an apropos Chicago cover.

It’s retards all the way down.
Well, how else do you retard the decline?
I resemble this statement.
No Easter blizzard.
Disappoint.
It’s going to be a cold Dyngus Monday. Highs in the 40s.
Not a blizzard, but we got at least 4 inches. I am so sick of shoveling snow.
Hoist with your own retard?
Bingo.
Sorry about your fracture Spud
Amanda Lynn Tully spent her teenage years as a ward of the State of Colorado and believed a college degree was her ticket to a better life.
So, when she graduated in 2017 with a master’s degree in historic preservation from the University of Oregon, $65,000 in federal student loans and no job offers in the conservation field, she felt misled.
*howls of derisive laughter*
she bought the snake oil. so sad.
She went to a football team with a degree mill attached.
Surprising ending? No.
Raised by the state to believe in what the state was selling.
The plan is working flawlessly.
Which is why I nearly burst at the seams with pride when Tres Ver 2.0 said he was going to school to be a welder.
1000% my kid is going to add more more value to society than she ever will.
That’s the one reason I have some sympathy for her.
And apparently did so as an out of state resident. If she was an illegal, she’d only pay in state tuition.
What a fucking retard. Four years of undergrad plus 3-5 years of grad school and no fucking clue what the job market is not any offers lined up? No internships during grad school program? Send her to Canada for post grad MAID studies….
Next weekend there’s a gun show in Syracuse. Should I make a trip out?
… if I keep asking you lot, I realize I’ve made up my mind, I’m clearly just seeking validation.
::stamps his parking ticket::
Danke
🚗
How does it work if you want to buy an actual firearm?
🤷♂️
Never been to a gun show.
I know how it works in a free state. 🤷🏼♂️
I know how it used to work when Bill Goodman rolled into Hara Arena for his annual Gun and Knife Show™.
(jingle tagline- “Call a briar, shoot a friend)
1) you found a firearm you liked
2) you paid someone money for it
3) you went home with a new toy
No FFL shit; no point-of-sale NCIC background check. Just uninterrupted gun commerce the way it was intended.
*We also had a weekly classified newspaper called the “Tradin’ Post”. It had its own section for firearms/ammo
I miss gun shows in the 80s and 90s.
There were cool things to be had.
Now. Not so much.
Big 5’s foreign surplus…
It’s a gun show, aka men’s porn. there are some here that are addicted while others are still hanging on to an expired man’s card.
Straightforward cover of the original. Might as well listen to the original.
Better audio.
The LP is fine. Live performances from the era were very badly recorded.
Que GnR’s take on Sympathy for the Devil…
Hold on a minute. Let me take out my hearing aids.
Please allow him to reintroduce himself.
Woo! Woo!
Another (and suitably creepy) cover.
Jane’s Addiction did a different version too.

Made for TV movie that was actually pretty good.
more sympathy
Ms. Tully was on an income-based repayment plan, which allows many borrowers to have their remaining debt forgiven after 20 years of making qualifying payments. She was paying $60 per month when she defaulted. This amount, to many, may seem manageable. But for her, it remained psychologically burdensome.
“The payments weren’t even paying off the interest, so it was frustrating,” Ms. Tully said.
Maybe she’s not completely retarded.
Personal responsibility is too stressful!
“But for her, it remained psychologically burdensome.”
Oh tough titties, sweetheart. When ex-Ms Cool and I were young, in love, and newly married, my TV sat on a milk crate. The couch was the back seat from my 77 Olds cutlass.
Hamburger Helper stroganoff was a luxury.
Harden the fuck up, do better, and be patient.
“…my TV sat on a milk crate.”
Luxury.
Evan:
I’m pretty sure those milk crates had stamped on them “Thou Shalt Not Steal”. At least the ones we had in the house I grew up in did.
I have several milk crates and they all have “property of…” on them somewhere and yet I have zero idea on how I ever came into possession of them.
Milk crates? The Tres Cools were living the high life. What’s his TV thingie that you had garnishing the milk crate?
4X I was a luddite- 19″ Montgomery Ward handed down from ex-wife’s cousin
Was color tho. Growing up we had the “porch TV” that was a 20″ Zenith B&W
OFFS.
Adulting really is hard. 🙄
Unsecured loans should not exist.
Reposes a kidney and a lobe of her liver.
Unsecured loans are fine. Guaranteed unsecured loans backed by the taxpayer are not.
Non dischargable loans back by taxpayers are not. Lenders lending irresponsibly and schools with inflated tuition schemes all need to take a haircut too.
MA??
Was the education worth $2/day? Y/N
How much was she paying for her cell phone plan?
$60/mo is unmanageable?
Fuck that bitch.
Cornell ha$ an outpost in Qatar – I’m sure there are lots of others. Doesn’t seem to harm the reputations of these American institutes in the least.
Dumbasses. Creditors will find you – even when seeking a lot less than what these clowns owe.
I find that article about retarded deadbeats to be infuriating.
Odd to say this, or maybe not, but France has the second best military in the west.
We already had April Fools day…
There is the US, and who else?
So Israel isn’t a western nation?
France would overwhelm Israel, it is a much bigger military.
I would take that bet on Israel’s side.
Vassal state or not, any nation residing East of the Mediterranean coast probably shouldn’t be classified as Western…then again, you may have been being sarcastic…(burp)
Have I mentioned that I’m drunk?
ZWAK, Israel has a track record of beating many much larger militaries from Islamic states.
The US often trains French and IAF pilots.
That would be interesting to watch.
ZWAK, I think the setting matters. If France attacked Israel I can’t imagine they have the ability to sustain the attack. They very little airlift or sealift capacity. Sure, they will be powered by their antisemitism but that’s not really an effective weapon in a shooting war.
They at least have a military to surrender?
I find that article about retarded deadbeats to be infuriating.
At this point I want to see the entire “higher education” racket crash and burn. Nothing but fucking thieves and mountebanks.
The educational complex is like EMS/Fire.
Government owns almost all of it.
It’s too big to fail with access to your pockets.
In case anyone missed it, I think the “retards across the pond” article is by one of our own.
I did miss that; thanks!
I completely missed that.
In this episode of “it’s none of the fucking government’s business” Colorado is the featured contestant.

I have to fight off bad ideas from CA, OR, and NY already, please CO do not add to the mix.
LOL bullshit
I’ll take this bizarre obsession all leftist politicians have with this stuff the day they pass a bill to make customers use paper plates at all the hoity-toity establishments they patronize.
People are pissed about bag bans. Not the other way around.
Wrap the fast food in a 1/4 sheet of newspaper.
Yard long French bread required a whole sheet
100% bullshit. If anything, I can always use more napkins.
Yes, McDonald’s needs cloth napkins.
What could possibly go wrong?
You forgot WA.
Personal responsibility in declining utensils/sauce packets/plastic bags is too much. All of those fuckers need to be put to the sword.
Bring bag plastic bags and styrofoam.
I’d also point out as women have taken over legislative positions, this crap has escalated. They are incapable of leaving people alone.
🥳
Finally got my raspberry pi to show up as a mass storage device on its usb-c port.
I’m trying to see if I can use it as a remotely updatable file store for my 3D printer. I don’t know how much space is on the internal storage of the machine, and I’d rather set up something I have more visibility to.
Downside is, it’s on the same port that it gets power over, so I’m going to have to get a power-blocking adapter, and feed the pi power via the GPIO pins (perfectly legitimate way to power it.) But I get the mass storage device showing up on my desktop (which puts enough power over the USB line to run the pi, simplifying the process) even after rebooting the Pi
Last break at the gas stn. Cubs game rained out, so not missing anything.
Feels quite nice to end on a remarkably chill day, cuz we don’t have to stock anything, for one. Saying goodbye to an odd side gig. To use an old man (w/o candy?) phrase, it builds character.
Glad I’ve got a good story out of it, submitted and coming here later this month.
Re: the woman “master of historic preservation” with the “burdensome” student loans. Maybe the culprit luring kids into “almost impossible to break into occupations” is outfits like ZipRecruiters? Curious, I checked their site and found, to my amazement (and disbelief) that the average wage in the U.S. for “Entry Level Historians” is $88K!! Even excluding the legions of B.A. History degree holders who are baristas or waiters or Walmart shelf stockers, I seriously doubt that hardly any who get an entry level job in any history field is making that kind of money.
What’s the survey size? I can believe the salary but I would guess there are very few positions.
God bless old GM. Went to start my daughter’s ’91 Corvette and the fuel pump sounded like a coffee grinder and it wouldn’t get over 45mph without protesting the lean fuel mixture. Went to look at what’s involved in changing the fuel pump and they are a very accessible pump and won’t even break $100 for the part.
My 91 GMC does not have accessible fuel pumps.
The best was my dad’s ’67 Dats
…Datsun pickup. Had a little flap in the bed, opens right to the pump and tank connections. Worst was my ’94 Dakota. Had to pull the bed or drop the tank to get to the submerged pump/sending unit. Which was $300 or so bucks.
Apropos of nothing: I love you all. Life/ My mind got completely out of wack a few years ago and I basically decided internet culture wasn’t good for me, regardless the context. Please don’t take my lack of participation on this site a criticism. I have my criticisms to some the takes here and I’m sure my takes are criticized(If even noticed) in return. No worries.
Anyway, just popped in to say hello.
…(Burp)
Yes, I’m drunk and feeling nostalgic…piss off.
You can show up and ramble drunkenly any time you wish. Especially Thursdays. We will drunkenly ramble together.
Hawt.
🍻
Good to hear from you, but yes, internet can be bad for you. Like all things in life, abstinence in moderation.
You too are loved, TH. Do what you need to do and enjoy your life.
Glad to see you’re still around and saying hello.
(big, socially uncomfortable hug for you all).
Right back at you.
Oh… *you*!
/noogies TH
*big squeeze back*
Always a pleasure seeing you. Hope you’re feeling better, more stabilized.
Like Def Leppard, I’m gonna hit and run.
https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/california-states-seek-103-million-helping-block-kroger-albertsons-merger-2026-04-01/
California, states seek $10.3 million for helping block Kroger-Albertsons merger.
Looks like there’s money to be made in the anti-trust business.
Would the merger have been a good? Don’t know, but I’m sure these twunts know less than me.
Been feeling unsettled for the last few days.
My daughter has moved away. She are her fiancé are starting a new life in south western Oregon.
First time in my life she hasn’t been within a 20 minute drive.
She’s a big girl and has been threatening to move away since we moved back from Phoenix 30+ years ago. She may have been born in Iowa, but she spent her formative years somewhere else. And she really, really hates winter. 😉
The interesting part is that her two grown sons are staying here. They were born here and grew up here. They’re not interested in moving someplace strange to them.
Sounds like my daughter. She grew up in TX, moved here for 30 plus years, her kids were born here. Two kids stayed in Metro Mpls, #3 got married and moved to Alaska. My daughter moved back to TX.
OTOH I too moved back to familiar haunts at retirement.
I thought of her after I posted.
Best of luck to her. My niece did a move back in 2020, but it didn’t stick. She was back in the area within a year.
I don’t expect her back.
She hadn’t left yet and was already trying to talk me into retiring to their new little town. 😉
Whereabouts are they moving?
Grants Pass. Barely north of California.
I know it well. I’ll be driving through the first week of May on my way to Crescent City.
I’ve seen photos. It looks like a lovely place.
Her fiancé’s uncle owns a business and wants to retire some day. So, the fiancé is taking a job there to learn the business. If all goes well, he’ll take over some day.
They appear to have a bright future there. I am happy for them. But . . . . fathers, daughters, can’t shake the feeling.
Beautiful country. Very green, pretty wet.
New daughter and future husband will be moving to my place in New York next fall. It will be quite interesting. Her and her mother are joined at the hip.
Just today, my daughter asked me for advice. Which, like all the other times she’ll promptly ignore.
Not much we can do, K, except hope for the best. I remember leaving home at 19.
We all moved out as soon as we could. I was out just before 19.
It’s the water!
Green in the spring. Browns out in summer.
But does have an In N Out now.
At least they’re not moving to Cave Junction
Both of my kids moved out at 18. But neither of them moved away, until now. Which is rather remarkable actually.
I was never more than an hour away, until we moved to Idaho, and mom moved to Brookings, Oregon.
Which, like all the other times she’ll promptly ignore.
If yall are anything like me and my dad, it’s not for a lack of respect for the opinion. I know 95% of what he’ll say, and I know which parts of that 95% I’ll heed and ignore. He’s a very conservative guy, and I try to take reasonable risks where he wouldn’t.
It’s that other 5% that is gold. That’s what I’m after.
Thank you all for the conversation. No one local that I would want to talk with.
*fist bump*
Hold Up! When you say “Big Girl”…..
Oh, never mind.
Thanks for bringing retard back Spud.
It has creeped back into my lexicon out of necessity.

My county’s sheriff has released an annual report
https://x.com/lanesheriffor/status/2040232895458222353?s=46&t=RcSPkS6a1VN_0hEKIR54WA
The photo is atrocious and perfectly encapsulates the problems with the current sheriff and the sheriffs office
1) lack of grooming standards
2) lack of physical fitness standards
3) campaign hat has never been the sheriff’s headgear. Neither is a Stetson which some deputies have started wearing.
4) wasting resources to produce an annual report
That salute looks like shit. 🫡 guy does a better hand salute.
Just finished the S01 finale of “Mr Robot” for the first time in 11 years and I am struck by two things.
1. If the vaunted goal was to “cancel all debt”, what of those of us chumps who have no debt?
2. This episode was bumped off one week due to a live televised murder that has apparently been completely memory-holed because I sure don’t remember it.
I only own S01 on DVD so maybe I will search for the rest online or something.
Looks like it’s all on Tubi now.
The thing most writer’s don’t seem to grasp is that eliminating all debt would also benefit quite a few corporations, the ones who are leveraged to the hilt. Mr. Robot does expand on it, and the aftermath.
I had forgotten how cliffhangery S01E10 was. I did watch S02E01 “live” but bailed on the show almost immediately thereafter.
But yeah, the debt thing bugs the shit out of me in present day. I have a love/hate thing with this show so maybe I owe it to myself to follow up if only out of morbid curiosity.
How exactly? What’s a simple, explain to idiots and folk like me? I’m thinking I can imagine why, but I’m also a) ignorant, especially in finance and b) just got stoned back from work. (Re-stoned and Rick & Morty as I sort stuff.)
I’m really ignorant about finance cuz I’ve never had to deal with it, frankly. Shit that makes me happy and ramfucksluckingly pissed: I had $20k to pay IU; I paid it off in ~6yrs. (go you, ev!); SiL to my knowledge either just, or still owes money to IU and she’s 5yrs older than me; <– she (thinks) and Lefties just wanna eliminate it all. And *I* never got *my* fucking money back. Huh!
My generation loves that shit and are fucking assholes. They love rewarding their own disregard while punishing responsibility.
Of course, "Adulting" is hard. Stop being stupid fucking pussies about it.
/vent
*meant to add: I’ve paid off that debt and always payed off the little credit I put on. (Just plane tix, IIRC.) At my peak, I was completely debt free and had ~$20k. No car or property. (Singapore times.)
I don’t have anything in my savings, no investments, stocks, or anything but paychecks and what I squirrel away. So I’ve never personally experienced, or had to learn, about anything. It’s good I really don’t spend on anything.
I guess in the grand scheme of things debt makes the world go round.
Personally – I avoid it like the plague. And the show gives the strong impression that it’s all shiftless youngsters celebrating the end of it.
Evan:
How does it benefit the corporations that are leveraged? Leverage is debt, that’s what it means. A company can make billions in revenue each year, but still be cash negative and deeply in debt. Cancel the debt, they don’t own anyone anything anymore. They’re no longer leveraged. Just did a random Google search for ATT’s debt, it says ~$136 billion, with a b. That gets wiped out, the corp is on top, and the people who bought the bonds (pension funds, retirees, risk-averse investors) get wiped out.
Finance isn’t hard, avoiding thinking you’re smarter than everyone else is.
Where is Pete Hegseth when you need him?
Whatcha need him for?
I think I somehow misthread this comment. I was replying to GL about his fat, sloppy sheriff.
No room here for levity, I see.
Sorry Spud but not all retarded songs are retarded.

After the Drinker’s recommendation, I’m watching Mr. Inbetween and it is, indeed, hilarious and fantastic.
that’s now on my list.
glad to hear it’s good.
Drinker said something like “it’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to binge a whole show in a single evening” and that’s 100% true; I’ve stayed up too late several nights watching it.
I saw that review too. What service is it on?
