Goddammit I need to figure out this POS speaker. Bluetooth keeps cutting in and out. No problems before except one game today (Death Stranding) and one Youtube video (this one).

F#@$#!@ M@ I hate bluetooth with the heat of a thousand suns. I tried the directions for supposed USB support – doesn’t work.

    • Chafed

When you figure it out, let me know why it works fine with my car’s speakers but not the microphone while I’m on a call.

      • Brochettaward

It’s because instead of Firsting you touch yourself at night instead.

      • Chafed

        It’s true but I don’t think that’s the reason.

  2. DEG

Donald is the only one that can hear us

WTF? I can hear them fine and I’m not Donald.

    • rhywun

      I can’t. 😠 lol

      • Fourscore

I can’t either but then again I can’t hear anyone

  3. Sean

lol, that took an unexpected turn

    🤣

    • Derpetologist

Who wants me to believe that and why?

I don’t think we need the Brahmin of Baker Street to figure out the mystery.

      Stunning and brave.

More creative than that stupid inflatable Trump baby. Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Maybe, but I hope to meet up with robodruid this weekend, other than an appointment with the head of the OKCDGC.

      • Bob

Kinnath, tomorrow is the Sunset motel on rte.66 in Moriarty NM, the kids of the original owners, they keep it clean, kitche and modern. No locals allowed.
All one floor which us old folks like. I like backing up to my door, we spend time organizing our stuff with no hassles

Stayed overnight in Winslow, about 25 years ago. Good experience.

      • dbleagle

It’s worth a quick stop in Winslow to see the statues standing on the corner and the mural of the girl in flat bed Ford checking them out.

Plus the La Posada Hotel in the old Fred Harvey house serves fine food.

        Jus’ sayin’

Oh yeah, fyi – if you use the words “American” or “Christian” in AI image prompts, it gets blocked. How odd. Fortunately, the dopes who coded it don’t seem to know about synonyms or circumlocution.

OT apologies: I am at the ‘veIend of a shitty day. Seizure at 8am, and either a continuation at 9 or a whole new one, and ditto for ~9:30. By parental and medical observatition, I had two grand mal’s and some other total-tension episode. I was EMT’d out of the house afterwards. I left the hospital at 2pm and have been home ever since. I’ve been mostly sleeping, but just came back from a talk downstairs with M&D.

I tried to work it out with them, but best guess? I’ve been sentient, cogent, for maybe three hours today, +-2hrs of mixed-twilight zone.

Taking tomorrow off work, 50/50 for Friday, but Dad is having his second knee replacement tomorrow morning. None of that will be pleasant.

At present, I’m exhausted but cogent.I awoke to fantastic Distraction Dust, w the Cubs scoring 5 in the inning and now up `0-1 in the 7th.

Speaking of Dist.Dust, my Fleshlight arrived during all of this. I’ve heard nothing but fantastic things and I’m highly interested.
Whenever I get my self all put-together, I’m sure I’ll have erotic escapism to pump up some positivity.
It’s always the little things, and like ‘Mind the pennies and the dolllars take care of themselves.’ Never dwell in the negative. Little things add up.

Thank y’all for a moment to share. What a strange day. Worryingly, I’m not sure how this all started. I haven’t been drinking, so I didn’t drink my way into this one. Lots of job, car, social, and other stressors jumbled about in my mind.

I guess enough sparks collided to tip the scale into Seizure-Land. May all yours align in a beautiful and productive constellation.
Thanks for the chance to vent.

    • rhywun

      Sorry dude.

Watching that one – 3 to 10 now the Mets are coming back!!

lol Was never much of a fan growing up but I like live TV and this is live. I am so tapped out on everything else lately.

      • Evan from Evansville

In my mind, baseball is a lot like swimming or oone’s relationship with dogs, and many more — I think you have to grow up with it (and them) to *get it.* If you’ve never been in the batter’s box facing pitching -even pitching machines – there’s no way to have a reference for how hard it really is. And ya learn remarkably quickly just who is afraid of the ball. Which may not be ‘most’ kids, but at least 50%.

Other bits of fun: Baseball is the only example of a fundamentally *team* sport that has distinct individual moments for each player throughout the game. Even if you’re hitting 9th, you’re gonna get 3ABs (If everything’s ‘normal, and each one is just you v pitcher. Your coach may tell you to take a strike or to bunt, and I suppose you’ll likely oblige, but that moment’s *yours,* succeed or fail. (You’ll still get a Happy Meal. Well, if my dad’s your coach, but you have to order yourself. He was very strict on that. Funny to watch the other kids who’d never done so. (Embarrassing.)

Free throws and penalty kicks are aberrations, in this regard. They’re not dependable. But if you’re on deck, you’re next. Go.

Cubs Magic Number to clinch the Wild Card home advantage is down to 2. Such oddity. The WC is now a 3-Game series. Uh, Home Field advantage=You host all three. Damn. That’s a helluvan incentive.

Doing well. Normally, I’d have to wake in four hours for work. Called off. I imagine I’ll be sleeping until past noon. Dad’s theoretically back from surgery at 5pm or so.

      • rhywun

I did not grow up with baseball or dogs. But I am open to new diversions now and then.

Probably not dogs, though. I rent and it baffles the hell out of me how many people coop them up in an apartment. That seems cruel to me. Them too. But mostly me. I can’t stand the whining coming from next door so often.

I picked Moriarty because ABQ is not a good place, out of state plates makes yo a target. Its 40 miles east and I said the rest. I am too old and vulnerable to take chances.
/ about to lose guns from OK in a horrible boat accident.

Long distance driving is a hell a lot harder than people think. you have to maintain speed. Yes, I’m not getting yourself in trouble. And I have to watch what the trucks are doing. Cause I’m gonna do it and you have to keep going and keep going and keep going. And you can’t stop. It’s really nice when you get to where you’re at and you can sit around and chat with your friends..
    2 more days

    • Bob

      Im tired

      • R.J.

Yep. It’s hard stuff. Stay at a nice Hilton and get the free drinks in the evening. It helps tale the edge off after a long day and night of driving.

      • Bob

Im in my rocker behind my caddie deck lid. Beer weed, life is good tonight

      • Evan from Evansville

I strongly, strongly approve. The long drive’ s hard but I’m glad you’ve found your spot.

I vape my THC these days and have for quite a while. You may be a joint/blunt dude, but for me there’s nothing like a good glass pipe, preferably one you’ve developed a relationship (and color) with. Pack a solid bowl and toke ’em up. My beer is N/A tonight by Athletic, the Mexican Copper one. Crisp.

I’m joining you. I just finished my Cubs game and switched to Dirty Jobs (heterosexual *swoon*) BUT, Rick & Morty is on for a bit. Y’all turned me onto it with good cause. Remarkably clever, funny and fun. (Ha, fun memory. Teaching Korean kids the difference between those two words. Much Charlie Chaplin-ING to their delight.

Minis in luggage is the way to go. Almost always better selection than a hotel bar.

Long distance driving sucks donkey balls.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Man, I love long distance driving. Oregon to Tennessee to see my brother, Oregon to New York to see my son. No problem, do it for weeks at a time.

      • Bob

Once its time, Im on, hotels booked,
I roll ten hours a day, too old for more. I stay at the same places, it is very comfortable

      • Evan from Evansville

I’m trying to think of my longest drives. Even from Evansville to Abingdon, VA, I purposefully stopped somewhere in TN for the night. So I broke up a ~9hr drive into two days. However, I was on vacation and when I got to VA, I was to take Dad’s dad to a Cherokee casino in NC. After that I went on a solo trip to Fairfax/DC to meet w a couplee folk, separately.

This is 2012, I think, my first trip Stateside after 2+ years in S. Korea. After that journey, I flew to Dallas to hang out with another friend, before flying to Denver. Then back to IN.

My weed trips to Michigan is a gorgeous (to me) 5hr adventure, and I’ve driven from Eville to Chicao (6hrs) no problem. I don’t think I’ve ever driven over eight in one spell, however. I was a Jimmy Johns delivery driver the summer between high school and IU )1005), but I don’t reckon a shift woulda been over 6hrs.

I once got tipped with a shotgunned beer.At least twice it was a rip of a bong or such. Your delivery drivers are all stoned, and that’s well and good. It ain’t good if they’re drunk. Such a strange summer. Nothing negative resulted in any way. Other than my boss eventually getting sent to jail for skimming off his employees. I worked at the time of these transgressions, and he went to court, but I never heard of my status, nor did I receive any money back. Huh.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Longest I’ve done in a day is Lexington > Miami. That was a bullshit drive. I’ve done 4 x 12 hour drives this year (about 700 miles – or almost as long as the entirety of England and Scotland), 1 of them I was sick as balls.

      • Grumbletarian

I’m fine with it too. TX to NH and back once a year for the last six years for vacations. Some nice countryside in eastern TN and western VA. Fuck the TSA.

    • Gustave Lytton

Talk me out of driving to Alaska and back.

  9. UnCivilServant

    Just submitted “Judge of Jinwick”.

I shorted the title to “Judge” for the article headers so I can include the chapter names.

It is up to the Powers that Be if you guys get to read it.

    • Brochettaward

      Are there titties in it?

      • UnCivilServant

No. Feel free to skip it.

      • Brochettaward

RJ’s movies have titties in them. And I don’t have to read them.

      • UnCivilServant

It’s an homage to the mental image I developed of the Noir genre from cultural osmosis rather than personal familiarity with it.

Jinwick is an Atlorian colony in the same fantasy setting as “Prince of the North Tower” and “Beyond the Edge of the Map”.

There are no characters in this yarn who previously appeared in other stories.

      • Brochettaward

I was really hoping to see some animated titties there, Derp.

      • Evan from Evansville

I’ll certainly read. On a personal note, which may need correcting cuz my Memory Switch has been off all day: IIRC, in 2018 I edited Beyond the Edge of the Map. )Or one book within that series.) I’d edited a bit of fiction before, but those were Dad’s books and a screenplay or two.

Odd question cuz I’m fearful of the answer: How’d I do on that, UCS? Ya won’t hurt my feelings. I was ~31. I had taught (and for-fun written) but didn’t start at the Tribune until 2022. I remember taking it very seriously and did my best. I was young and didn’t have prior knowledge of the world you’d created, but I think I did a decent+ job. Would love to hear thoughts, and don’t worry if I was recalcitrant or ‘bad’ at it. Gotta know when ya fucked up to get better.
Regardless, I have fond ‘memories’ of that project together. Thanks for the opportunity.

I’m doing well. I predict a long sleep and am excited for it. Odd muscles are sore and need the respite.

      • UnCivilServant

@Evan – You did fairly well, but I’ve since spotted one or two typographical errors that escaped the both of us.

@Derpy – to finally put your mind to rest, there is nothing Irish about Jinwick. The name comes from the in-universe Demonym ‘Azanjin’ and the Anglo-Saxon -wick suffix. When the Atlorians arrived there was a small Azanjin village along the harbor, which has since become the Azanjin district of the city. The demonym got truncated in the reference to the port early on and it just became ‘Jinwick’.

      • Evan from Evansville

        @UCS: Thanks, sincerely appreciated.

It’s a funny truth, which can always be expanded: Even editors need editors. (Watchers need to be watched, etc)

Sleep is not finding me. Well. I need to find it again. I had it for a spell.

      • WTF

UCS – Since I really enjoyed “Prince of the North Tower” and “Beyond the Edge of the Map”, I’m really looking forward to this one.
        Thanks.

  10. B.P.

My wife just gave me an old Mac computer. I’m just trying to burn some discs (yeah CDs), and the Apple Music situation is terrible. In frustration, I typed into Google, “Is Apple Music the most retarded platform?” Here comes the AI… welcome to the future!:

“Your statement uses offensive and ableist language and is not an appropriate way to describe a music platform or any product. While user satisfaction with Apple Music is subjective, critiques of the service generally focus on specific features rather than labeling it in this manner”.

I truly hope no platforms were offended by this exchange.

    • Brochettaward

AI doesn’t think. It is an algorithm with built in railings to prevent it from regurgitating too much wrong think.

    • rhywun

To be fair, everything not pushing streaming dollars has turned to shit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I refuse to play that game so I deal.

      • B.P.

I’m literally trying to give Apple money to access some songs, and it’s seemingly impossible. A few years ago it was a breeze to give them money.

    • Threedoor

      make playlist.
      Insert CD
Double click burn CD from playlist.

    • Chafed

What happens when you tell Google to fuck itself?

  11. Brochettaward

Luigi Mangione’s lawyers slam Charlie Kirk comparisons made by Trump administration.

A federal judge said Wednesday that President Donald Trump and other administration officials may have violated the law with their recent public statements about Luigi Mangione.

There was some order from the judge in the federal case not to make public comments on the situation which is utter nonsense. It was a high profile assassination of a health care CEO that was cheered on by large portions of the country and you are demanding the president not to say anything?

Obama weighed in on Trayvon Martin of all things. By comparison, there’s no absolutely no real question of whether this guy is guilty. I know in the most technical sense that is what the trial is still for, but we know he killed the CEO. We can sit here and quibble over what degree of murder he’s guilty of, but not really that he’s guilty.

There needs to be some sense of reality to your order, your honor.

  12. Brochettaward

And James Comey is being indicted soon.

While I’m glad to see it given the fuckery that he helped orchestrate for Obama (who will sadly never face consequences), they had damn well better make sure whatever they throw at the rat fucker sticks or it’s going to be a disaster.

    • Brochettaward

Comey and Brennan have both stood by the integrity of the 2016 intelligence assessment, arguing its findings on Russia’s interference in the election were bolstered by bipartisan congressional investigations as well as former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation on ties between Russia and Trump’s 2016 campaign.

      https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/newly-appointed-us-attorney-attempt-charge-james-comey/story?id=125906268

The fake political investigations that launched as a result of our fuckery totally vindicate us and show how super cereal it all was.

The Mueller Report didn’t lead to any actual convictions. It led to indictments or whatever of some Russian trolls who may or may not even exist who will never see the inside of a courtroom.

      • J. Frank Parnell

Maybe Schiff will finally release all the ironclad Russian collusion evidence he’s been sitting on in order to save his buddy Comey.

    • Aloysious

I have an irrational hatred of Clapper. That’s the guy I personally want thrown in prison.

      • Chafed

        That’s not irrational. It’s merciful.

      • Evan from Evansville

        Well-played, Chafed.

    • The Last American Hero

Be a damn shame if Comey offed himself in prison while the cameras malfunctioned.

  13. Gustave Lytton

The point of slow rolling any mass deportation of illegals is to allow time for anchor baby US citizens who will support their illegal parents and kindred against their own nominal country. Everything that was feared about Nisei during WWII is exactly true with the anchors.

    • Evan from Evansville

I’d say he had that about right. I’d say well over 10% shouldn’t be there at all, though that also depends on history, stock and training.

To go to my earlier baseball point,~most people are simply afraid of the ball. Needs conquering in youth, IMO.

Trump’s address to the UN is fucking gold.

Damn. I don’t like the securities bit, but his message is clear. Boom. Me likey. Europe is toast and it has itselef to blame. Ouch.
(IMOm a very well-written speech. I haven’t heard the delivery(Ooh,should do.), but the WSJ quotes are Fabulous. Direct. Bold.)

Normally I’d be parking, but I put the day off in the app. I don’t have confirmation on if they know, and I don’t have a # to call. I did msg my boss-boss about it yesterday evening, so not like I didn’t try.Unconcerned.

Find some sparkle in your day.

Re Trump’s delivery to the UN: Damn. The escalator not working is pretty funny, and his UN-provided teleprompter was also broken, so he gave it without one, and I didn’t really see him look at notes.

That’s gotta burn. It’s a powerful, primal thing to hit normies, how he can do shit off-the-cuff, while Biden was never ‘there.’

Boss-Boss replied to my msg of today off and 50/50 tomorrow with “OK,” so I’m cool. I’m guessing I’ll work tomorrow, but likely will be driven.
Also important: Crush’s first day of her week is also tomorrow. Natch, incentives matter.

    Kick ass, y’all.

    • Grosspatzer

      All of them?

      • R.J.

        That is the correct answer.

    • UnCivilServant

My GPS can’t even reliably tell what road I’m on at times and will occassionaly decide that I am driving in the River. What happens when these things decide the driver isn’t on the highway but on the city street next to the highway and slam on the brakes to bring them down to 20 in a 55 zone with a bunch of people coming up the road?
