Are you organic or are the trolls?

What does a troll taste like?

    • Chafed

Rule 34 says there’s an answer for you out there.

  2. Muzzled Woodchipper

    Disaster Averted:

Italy is currently winning 5-0, which means the US will advance. If Italy wins, we advance. If Mexico wins, they need to score at least 5 runs for the US to advance, which Italy has now forced.

DeRosa needs to be fired the minute the tournament is over for the US.

    • creech

Is Nola pitching well? Phillies fans have fingers crossed he will return to his top form.

    • rhywun

No idea what the coach can do “better” but aren’t the vast majority of players Americans? I doubt he has any say-so over which countries the players choose to represent.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

DeRosa isn’t a manger. USA Baseball takes all of this very nonchalantly. As if we’re above international play. They hired a former player who’d never managed a game in his life, because he’s good on camera.

And during a recent press conference he proudly exposed that he doesn’t even know the fucking tournament rules by assuming we’d already cleared pool play, when we hadn’t. Not knowing the tournament rules is inexcusable. He’s running a fucking clown show.

      • Evan from Evansville

DeRosa had a few good years with the Cubs, so I like him.

World Baseball is really, really stupid. I pay no attention. Spring Training for All-Stars and nothing more. International sporting competitions are all bullshit, post 1991. We should further the ‘Break-dancing’ bullshit in the Olympics. Get all the countries together and play Sorry!. That’d be amusing to watch, the winner being the colonizer with the most penitent display of grief and internal sorrow.

We could also play Battleship against Japan again. That went well last time.

  3. Evan from Evansville

I’m impressed the Mustache can text.

Replying to all seems to have gotten shockingly many folk in trouble these days. I can’t recall ’em off my head, but dumb stupid obvious shit folk shouldn’t make the mistake of doing. Humans are real good at that.

  4. rhywun

“I want him [another illegal alien subway shover] to live”

Not sure I agree with that sentiment.

    • Chafed

I’m good with tying him to the train tracks like in a silent movie.

      • rhywun

There is so much to unpack with this drearily familiar story that nobody wants to touch.

Illegal alien. Either batshit crazy or criminally insane. Why is he here? Why is he not in an institution? Or a prison.

I don’t know how many times this has to happen again before something changes.

      • Evan from Evansville

A Big Democrat would have to lose something remarkably personal for anyone to actually give a shit. And even then, only if they’re *really* high ranking. I don’t think Blue’s got anyone, even any Obama or Clinton, (their kids?), that could be brutally killed in public and make a big enough wave for the Clergé Bleu calling the shots to give a shit. Not enough independent thought exists within their worshipers to turn the tide themselves. It’d have to be a Big Event.

Or the illegals could start voting Red. That’d do the trick right fast.

We have become a nation of pussies. Not a new observation, but just yet another piece of evidence to drop in the bucket. The Iran war shit…

I see people, even service members bemoaning the loss of 7 or 8 deaths and 150 wounded. Latest spin I’m seeing is that we passed on some super secret drone intel that Ukraine offered up which is ridiculous for so many, many reasons. But just yea…what the fuck sort of losses did anyone really think we’d sustain in an existential war against the Iranian regime?

If you are in the military, or were in the military, and you are crying over the losses over two weeks here from a body count standpoint, check your underwear and make sure your cock and balls are still intact.

It isn’t just the military. My retarded Fuentes-supporting brother crowed about the losses in some sense because I called Iran a paper tiger. Same guy who bemoans the loss of life in Palestine and thinks wars can or ever will be these clean and orderly affairs with no risk. He’s hardly alone with that mindset. It’s not even just limited to the anti-Trump crowd looking to score cheap political points off the corpses of a few service members.

The question with any war is whether it’s worth killing and dying yourself for. Many Americans are ok with the killing part, but completely balk at the idea of sustaining any losses.

We have major issues to address if a major real war breaks out. Not the least of which is that our military in so many respects is technologically brilliant, but completely lacks the ability to produce the shit we need at anywhere near the rate we’d need it. Part of that is political – too many vested interests in acquiring the most expensive and complicated systems on the planet rather than the most cost effective. But some part of the reason even for that is we are a nation of pussies and think we can fight a real war without losses to begin with.

Nut up, America. You elected these assholes and this was a war they chose and you don’t seem all that worked up by any of it. So if we aren’t going to revolt or even get off our asses over it, at least grapple with the reality that some Americans will die when we choose to start toppling third world regimes once or twice a quarter.

    • Ownbestenemy

20+ years spilling our blood in the ME does that.

      • Brochettaward

If anything, you’d think people would be relatively desensitized to the idea of US military dying in the sandbox. But our political leadership along with most of the media have spent a shit ton of time propagandizing the public in all the worst ways. Heroizing service members regardless of the cause they’re fighting for combined with creating fantastical notions of what technology is actually capable of in war. All done in response to the Vietnam backlash.

I think the perfect example of this is the idea of smart bombs or precision missiles. It leads to this ridiculous notion that civilian casualties can be completely avoided.

People suck in general. You really won’t see some great anti-war movement in this country again without a draft because unless this shit puts the broader population at risk, most people don’t really care. But judging success or failure of a military operation based on whether there was any loss of American life still has real world consequences.

    • Evan from Evansville

Agreed in many ways. From 30k feet, everything being equal, I’m glad we’re more averse to war. We see all the bullshit 8 billion humans put out, but we’re still in the most prosperous and most peaceful time in the history of our species.
It’s good for Us to shit on ourselves. (We deserve it.) But a pat on the back, for remembering history and having our ‘rhymes’ be far less destructive than wars past.

“…did anyone really think we’d sustain in an existential war against the Iranian regime?” <– There's the biggest rub. Sure Iran apparently thinks so, but the US wasn't 'existentially' at war with them. No Pearl Harbor. It's easy to look at our dick in Iran's nest and think that whatever unclear objectives we have, they aren't worth seven or eight people dying over.

      • Brochettaward

I mean, yea. I meant it’s an existential threat to Iran, not us. That’s all these wars of choice we’ve engaged in since WW2.

The question of whether Iran is worth the loss of American lives is valid to me. But the political leadership we elected said it was, and the loss of life seen so far is actually kind of stunningly minor.

My social media feed is flooded with propaganda on how Iran will win. If Iran wins strategically here it’s because our leadership had no clear objectives (despite the protests of some on here) let alone a means of actually achieving them. It’s not because we lacked the military capability.

And I’m not personally buying the idea that Iran wrecked our Middle East assets. The anti-American left is a nest full of lying charlatans. The most benign among them are incapable of separating their belief in a war from its results.

    • SarumanTheWoefullyIgnorant

If a Democrat was the president and doing what Trump is doing you wouldn’t hear a peep about loss of life. Look how they dropped the rolling body count in Afghanistan once Obama was in office.

      • Evan from Evansville

If Obama were doing this, it’d be a public flood of orgasmic joy: “Look at our brave Lightbringer freeing those Iranians from being murdered by their despotic regime who we were just loudly calling ICKY! just a few weeks ago!! This is such a brave and Nobel moment!”

Trump does it? Typical hatred froths forth. Same as how in 2003 child genital mutilation was evil to everyone. Not being against it, or even not celebrating it, means you’re a bigot who hates children. Frogs boil slowly and none of the emotional response is based in anything resembling Reality.

I think much of Venezuela and Iran was showing the Chinese just what our military really can do. Politically, at-the-moment useful demonstrations.

“This is us playing nice.” Might scare the Chinese into an arms race it can’t afford. *shrug*

    • Chafed

Nick Fuentes isn’t guiding young men to act like grown men? Color me shocked.

    • Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

It’s ALL propaganda. From both sides. Who fuckin’ knows?

      USA: We have air superiority.
Me: But the Iranian drones are still getting to their targets.

Iran: We have elected a new leader!
Me: But we haven’t seen him on live TV yet. Is he alive? *crickets*

      Who fuckin’ knows?

      • Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

You know who is gonna literally pay for this war though?

You and me. And probably our children. And probably their children.

      • Brochettaward

I don’t think air superiority means what it used to mean in the age of drones. There’s really no way from stopping them from getting into the skies. We can probably bomb them with impunity and keep anything conventional out of the air, but a drone be a drone.

    Monocle update

Really, I’m just testing out the one-line change – the ‘Comment *’ text is now suppressed if you use the formatting buttons.

As ever, it’s something Trashy already took care of that just needed a little TLC.

Master is now 4.10.0 – it should auto-update at some point

    — for Apple people Userscripts is at least temporarily not auto-updating (disabled by the developer while chasing down a memory/CPU issue); following Step 4 under https://gitlab.com/glibertarians/forumProject/-/blob/master/README.md?ref_type=heads#iphone-ipad–mac-safari should update it.

Normally my years of being on-call would make me shy away from pushing something to production right before bed, but it’s a one-line change, it works on all the combos I have and you get the free-tier version of me.

I’ll repeat in the morning lynx and be around for support, if need be (but it’s a one-liner change).

      • rhywun

Heh maybe I’ll add that myself cuz the existing behavior drives me absolutely bonkers.

    • rhywun

It’s not showing an update when I click the “Update” button in Userscripts but I’ll try later. thx

      • slumbrew

Sorry, that’s ‘hit the link’, ‘hit the Userscripts icon’, ‘Click to re-install’

      • rhywun

I keep getting AdGuard interfering with such actions – it wants Total Control over scripting – no biggie, I’ll figure it out eventually.

    • rhywun

I don’t know much about GitLab – does it take pull requests? I have a request. Nothing dramatic, I’ll ask later if you’re tapping out for the night.

      • slumbrew

Of course! They’re welcome. I think you need to sign-up though (and I might need to add you as a Developer to the project, with the current settings).

      • slumbrew

Looks like I can even extend an invite if you’ve got an e-mail you’d like to share (or e-mail me at my handle at proton)

      • rhywun

Is that part of GitHub?? I have an account there.

      • rhywun

Huh – it looks like No. I’ll figure it out – not tonight. I’m boozed up and ready to retire.

      • slumbrew

        Yeah, GitHub competitor.

        No rush, whenever you’re ready.

      • rhywun

For some reason I always thought it was some sort of “experimental” child/branch of GitHub.

Yeah, it’s a simple change. Add a keyboard shortcut to the “Next Unread Comment” button. I just get tired of adding it manually every release. 🙂

  8. Brochettaward

Nearly half of free black people in the South around 1860 owned slaves of their own.

That’s my racist fact of the day.
