¡Martes por la tarde, enlaces mexicanos!

Apparently I got off the hook last week for ¡enlaces! Too bad for you the site is sort of working now…

Guess who’s back?

¡enalces!

The Orange Man has already deported 56,000 back to Mexico.

The Orange Man’s response: those are rookie numbers!

Why would she be worried about ICE showing up to a soccer game in LA?

Suddenly Dave Smith and Daryl Cooper have a problem with Milei.

I totally forgot Citgo was a thing. Perhaps there is a reason for that?

My son and I caught this on the way back from BJJ. I said the video for this song will be so bad its awesome, or awesomely bad. Lets just say I was right.

I thought it was Valero that was their thing, por que no dos?

    • mexican sharpshooter

I don’t know, its been a while since I’ve seen one of those too. To my understanding gas stations aren’t necessarily supplied by the oil giant on the sign.

  2. rhywun

Why would she be worried about ICE showing up to a soccer game in LA?

lol Two big tourneys going on simultaneously in the US. Those environments are going to be so target rich it’s like stitching together a dozen Home Depots several times a day.

  3. The Other Kevin

I don’t get gas prices. For the past few months they’d go up 0.50 overnight, then slowly creep back down over 2 weeks, then shoot up again. Right now they’re still doing the slow creep down. I thought for sure the ME would get everyone skittish and they’d shoot back up. Strange.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

I only gas up 2x a month but last week I paid 4.29$ for premium which was down .50$ for last time. Yeah I know, but the weather is nice, and the girls, wow.

    • Ownbestenemy

Here in KY pricing is odd. Big drops/gains and never gradual. I just assume its cause of delivery and supply. I grew up where they crept up and/or down, never these mood swings.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Back in the day it was like that here but with Calis fucked up system who knows?
/has an escape route to OK

      • Ownbestenemy

I dunno, never remembered big swings in SoCal growing up

      • Evan from Evansville

Some people in Eville, Grandpa included, would cross into Henderson to take advantage of gas pricing in KY v IN.

      • Tres Cool

I think counties in kentucky can change sales tax, so you can go from Boone to Kenton to Campbell and have big price swings.
Also, being near 2 major highways will alter things.

    • The Other Kevin

We’re at 3.06, and it usually bottoms out at 2.86 and then shoots up.

    • ron73440

      Haven’t you been paying attention?

It was corporate greed when Biden was president, now it’s Trump’s fault.

    • Brochettaward

The markets seem entirely unconcerned by the Iran shit. They don’t seem to think a larger war will spark.

Iran is supposedly begging for negotiations and a cessation of hostilities. Israel can keep bombing, but can’t seem to break their nuclear facilities without us. So…it’s up to Trump.

      • The Other Kevin

This can keep going for a while without really escalating. Israel bombs things, Iran throws a volley of inaccurate missiles, day after day. Unless there are ground troops, I don’t see anyone else jumping in right now.

Trump might be doing the salesman move of an artificial deadline. Iran better act now, US ships and planes are on the way, right?

      • Brochettaward

My main concern is that Israel really, really wants Trump to jump in. And Israel seems to get what they want out of Trump.

      • R C Dean

My main concern is there seem to be a lot of people here who have a raging warboner to drop one of those megabunkerbuster bombs on the hardened enrichment facility. And we’re the only ones with the planes to drop them, so it would have to be a direct US attack on Iran.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum urged U.S. officials on Friday not to target individuals attending a Gold Cup soccer match in Los Angeles

IIRC, Mexican fans tend to be boorish even by wog soccer partisan standards. I think that just putting a few guys in ICE jackets near every gate to the stadium (and spreading false rumors on X that ICE is out and about in the neighborhood) would be enough to deny Mexico its “home pitch” advantage.

    • mexican sharpshooter

Hmm. That might finally get them to stop calling the other team’s keeper a bitch.

Like Haitians barbecuing housepets, this is totally not happening and any reporting to the contrary is motivated solely by racism.

Okay, it is happening, but you should quit noticing, bigot.

      • Ted S.

It is happening, and here’s why that’s a good thing.

      • Raven Nation

I remember one of the takes on BBQ-ing pets was “What we should be talking about is how we can live in a country where people are so poor they have to eat pets.”

      • R C Dean

My favorite take was “Those videos don’t show Haitians barbecuing pets in Springfield, bigot. They were taken down the road in some other town!”

  6. Shpip

These days I find that I have to curl my lower lip backward all the way past my incisors and canine teeth to my bicuspids to pronounce the “F” in FUCK YEAH I VOTED FOR THIS

    …and I’d do it again.

    • Suthenboy

The plan was always to flood the country with illegals, create huge legal problems and overwhelm the system then weaponize empathy for public opinion. Foolproof, right? The more I see of it the angrier I get about it. Deport them the same way the democrats imported them: en masse.

      • The Other Kevin

It would be great to see a side-by-side video of people pouring into the country, and people pouring out of the country. Probably that won’t happen.

    • rhywun

The NY Post is running with a narrative to which I won’t link but “according to inside sources”, ICE is all wore out and demoralized from quotas and all the extra work instead of focusing on just bad dudes.

      • Sensei

I can see a portion of that being true and another group being happy to do what it is supposed to do.

      • bacon-magic

I’ve not seen even one cop unhappy about doing the exciting part of their job. Bonus points if they get to use force.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

The event in that original post probably didn’t actually happen. There’s a lot of BS flying around about what ICE is doing, but none in the media dare call it misinformation.

      • Akira

All the Democrats on Facebook assure me that there is “ethnic cleansing” going on in America right now at the hands of mad-dictator Trump.

(I don’t use Facebook, but my wife feels the need to show me these things and say “I had to look at it, so you do too”)

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

One story our Mexican neighbor told us was that a Coca Cola bottler (I think) fired all their illegal employees and called ICE to come pick them up. I thought that sounded unlikely, but if it did happen, it probably would have been all over the anti-Trump news. According to the fact checkers it was just an unfounded rumor, but this is the stuff that’s going around and sometimes apparently reported on Telemundo or Univision as if it were fact.

      • Ted S.

        Akira:

Can you delete Facebook from your wife’s phone?

      • R C Dean

Going from “deporting illegals” to “ethnic cleansing” is a bold strategy, etc.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

The Great Replacement Theory is just a crazy conspiracy, but ethnic cleansing is totally real.

  7. Suthenboy

I dont know who Daryl Cooper or Dave Smith are but I am the same way about the Palis that I am about the illegals.
They create a problem then try to turn it around. I have no sympathy for the Palis whatsoever. The time for talking ended oct7. As for the Iranian Mullahs, it is long past time for them to push up daisies.
What I find hilarious is that Iran’s defense systems were Chinese and I have seen them described a number of times now as ‘paper’.

    • UnCivilServant

You know that “Made in China” quality.

    • bacon-magic

      Paper tiger!

    • Brochettaward

I have no love for the Iranian regime, but regime change has ushered in something worse everywhere it’s been tried in that region (and most places where the people are frankly barbaric).

I’d rather just not. And I can’t help but feel that Israel is using the WMD narrative to drag the US into another round of regime change. At the least, they’re hoping to turn off the flow of funds and weapons from Iran to Hamas. Which I get from their perspective, but it’s not our fight. We need to stay the hell out of it.

Iran is not and never will be an existential threat to us.

        Co-signed.

      • Raven Nation

Yep, agree. “Things can’t get any worse than they are so we should do something” is generally a good way to provoke the gods of history.

    • Akira

Dave Smith is a libertarian podcaster who has been pretty excellent. I’ve followed him closely since about 2016, and he’s called out all the bullshit since then: Russiagate, all the Trump Derangement Syndrome, COVID tyranny, January 6th hysteria, Hunter Biden’s laptop, and everything else. He actually debated Andrew Cuomo (ex-CNN guy and huge COVID regime cheerleader) and absolutely wrecked him.

He is generally pro-Palestine, and I’m not really sure I agree with him totally on that, but I think he’s more nuanced about it than both the pro-Palestine Left and the pro-Israel Right.

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

He is generally pro-Palestine, and I’m not really sure I agree with him totally on that, but I think he’s more nuanced about it than both the pro-Palestine Left and the pro-Israel Right.

When Israel starts tying Palestinian mothers together with their babies and then lighting both on fire while cheering get back to me about a nuanced stance. Same when Israel starts mass raping teenage Palestinian girls at festivals and their populace dances in the streets. Or taking children hostage and then torturing them to death.

October 7th dropped the mask. Israel should’ve turned Gaza into ash following that. Their restraint is remarkable. We inflicted far worse damage on Japan, both firebombing and nukes, when Pearl Harbor was a proportional fraction of what Hamas pulled.

      • Brochettaward

The legitimate Jew haters tend to rationalize their attacks on Israel’s war the following ways (Server at my first post!):
        1. Israel funded Hamas in the past so this somehow excuses Hamas for their brutality. Israel was arrogant and stupid at best. This ties us to #2.
        2. Israel knew about the planned attack and many believe they allowed it to happen to justify waging a war of expansion and genocide. How this changes the fact that Hamas did in fact do those heinous things is beyond me, but it’s what they argue.
        3. What happened on 10/7 doesn’t justify what Israel has done since. Bombing women and children (the Pali propaganda). Americans have largely been conditioned to believe, naively, that wars can be fought cleanly and with minimal loss of civilian life. That this is the goal as if humanity has somehow advanced technologically and morally to the point where what Israel is doing is wrong. The Palestinian propaganda is meant to exploit this naive notion.

#2 is plausible to me . I don’t believe our own government is the only one on the planet that would allow an attack or stage a false flag in the name of getting what it wants. But the evidence we actually have indicates that the Israelis were done in by their own hubris. They believed they had Hamas in check and that they weren’t dumb enough to do such a thing. But they were, and here we are.

      • Ted S.

Wouldn’t that have been Chris Cuomo, The Other Asshole Cuomo?

      • Brochettaward

The Palestinian playbook is a lot like the one used by our enemies in recent wars. Be barbaric scumbags, but evoke sympathy across the globe by playing up the destructive nature of war in general to naive and perceptible Westerners. There’s some segment of the population that is prejudice to buy the propaganda and they will. And there’s many more who just have no fucking clue how ugly war is having never experienced it or really having been made to study it in school beyond the surface level.

The progressive view of history has real world consequences.

      • Akira

        @ Ted S:
Yes it certainly is. I’m getting my Cuomos mixed up. They’re all assholes anyway (except possibly Rivers Cuomo).

      • Ted S.

Regarding #2, if the Netanyahu government had come out in the days before October 7 and said they had evidence that Hamas was going to attack the Nova Music Festival, I wouldn’t be surprised if the response of a lot of the secular left had been to say this was just the Haredi rabbis trying to shut down a secular event (it was supposed to be held over Shabbat, deliberately near the Gaza border, for what I fully believe was the express purpose of giving the middle finger to the Haredi community).

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

        Good points, Bro.

I can believe 2) as well. The Israeli government certainly aren’t good guys. They amped the death count on 10/7 by disarming their own people. Insanity in any case but unreal while surrounded by enemies.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

A good chunk of the reason this is so ugly, to the modern American/Western mind anyway, is that it has been put off for 50-75 years, and allowed to fester. This is what war between to peoples who utterly hate each other looks like, and all the BS that gets tossed around, whether about a two state solution or whatever, is just that: BS. They both want to kill each other, and anything else is just talk.

      • Raven Nation

One point to add to Bro’s…there is also this undercurrent coming from the evangelical right (who largely support Trump) that embraces a theological position that, essentially, sees all Jews as the children of God and anything Israel does is God’s will.

I had a nice appointment with the VA career counselor. She’ll help polish my resume. That should help on the job hunt. I told her a bit about my ordeal, and she said I should look into getting a disability rating. I’d prefer not to mooch off the system, but if I can’t get a job or other income, I might have to. But that day is years off.

    • mexican sharpshooter

Do you have a service connected disability?

      • Brochettaward

I mean, do you really need it to be “service connected?” Plenty of vets are leeching off the system already.

I, too, have so far refused to go that route. But it’s tempting when I see the shit our government is handing out to others. Even a few hundred a month. Why the fuck not.

I say Derpy should go get his.

      • UnCivilServant

I suspect it depends which budget line pays the money that determines the requirements to qualify.

      • Derpetologist

No. Fit as a fiddle physically. Mostly, anyway.

      • mexican sharpshooter

do you really need it to be “service connected?”

My voca rehab dude got in touch with me last week, and he says we should meet in the week after 4th July. I didn’t think much of the resume polishing, but I’m quite certain I need it to be redone, far better than my recent attempts. Underselling my experience is one that I, and Munchkin as well, have made, IMO. Hopefully this dude at least has some idea of what he’s doing.

For now the Holding Pattern at Walmart is a pleasant purgatory, the best and safest available to build *any* US rep as I hope this dude is on point. Even if he isn’t, I’ll be doing my own search soon.

    • Tres Cool

Get it. I know of two veterans that are/were employed by the VA that got disability for vague conditions like MS.
One is an Army retiree, drawing that pension, VA check, and disability all at once.

  9. The Other Kevin

This Iran thing feels a lot like the tariff situation. Lots of Trump bloviating, tons of guesses about what’s going to happen, but few specifics from the DOD. The tariffs were craziness for a short while and then things settled out. That might be happening with Iran. We’ll see in the next few days I guess.

    • UnCivilServant

I’ve still got my fingers crossed for the removal of the Ayatollah and a Persia on the road to recovery.

      • SandMan

My wife is Iranian and most of her family is still there. As much as they would like to see the regime fall I just don’t see a way for that to happen. It upsets my wife when I keep telling her this. Hope I’m wrong.

    • Brochettaward

My money is on nothing major comes of all of it. There’s no real stomach among Trump’s base for a war with Iran. It’s not what he was elected for and I think even he’s got enough sense of reality to know that.

Iran is (per the WSJ at least) already using back channels to signal they want to end hostilities. Israel only has plans for two weeks of bombing, I think. If true that they’ve established air superiority over Tehran, the only thing that could escalate this all is America stepping in. Then all bets are off.

I don’t think that happens. Iran’s nuclear program remains intact as Isreal can’t really harm those facilities. Hopefully a chastised Iran backs the fuck off their support of the Palestinians for a while and let’s things cool off.

      • R C Dean

I’ve seen reports (you may add salt to your taste) that about the only nuclear facility that remains fully functional is the enrichment facility buried under a mountain.

The opening ask for a peace deal should be that Israeli demo teams are given access to that facility to drop it.

The new trend among Democrat wannabe pols: mugshots

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, a Democratic candidate for mayor, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Lower Manhattan Tuesday after obstructing their attempt to detain a criminal defendant who was leaving court.

A video of the incident posted to Lander’s social media account by his wife, Meg Barnette, shows Lander physically hanging onto the defendant among the crowd of federal agents while the agents attempt to take the defendant into custody.

I guess causing a scene and getting performatively arrested is the way to demonstrate your lefty bona fides this month.

    • Brochettaward

They probably think it helped Trump with his base, so it will help with theirs.

In NYC at least, they’re not wrong no matter how ridiculous defending some criminal illegal alien from deportation seems to every normal, rational human being on the planet.

    Celebrity chef’s goose is cooked

Anne Burrell — the beloved chef known for her trademark spiky platinum hair, larger-than-life personality and culinary expertise — died on the morning of Tuesday, June 17 at her home in Brooklyn, New York. She was 55.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” her family said in a statement. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

If countries suspected of developing nuclear weapons get bombed (Libya, Iraq, Syria, Iran), and countries that have them do not (North Korea, China, Russia, Pakistan), then that creates a powerful incentive for many countries to get nukes ASAP.

Iran already has a history of getting ballistic missiles from North Korea. Even if Israel kills all their nuclear scientists, they can just hire new ones from Pakistan and elsewhere.

Israel is in a real jam. I agree they must retaliate, but they must do so without provoking even more destructive attacks. Sorry, the Zionists really picked the wrong piece of real estate to defend.

At this point, I’d be fine with US citizenship being granted to all Israelis plus money to encourage them to move here. It’d be cheaper in the long run than trying to keep the tide from reclaiming a sandcastle.
