Fun weekend beachside in Canada last week getting a sunburn and alcohol poisoning with Prime, who has a cottage on Lake Erie. My apologies that one of my substitutes for Links managed some slippage. But I’m here again, I’m reliable, I’m drunk. True to form, everyone up there was excessively polite and the food was excessively bland. Well, most of it- there were some mildly spicy samosas available at the Farmers’ Market, which is a pretty decent junk food find.
Coming back to Glibs Gulch was the usual delight- at breakfast at our little cafe, two of the linebacker size dudes-in-dresses were sitting outside having a loud conversation about how horrible it was that all of their rights have been taken away. Except, apparently, their rights to wear dresses and have loud idiotic conversations. Inside, an entitled woman was ripping into a poor barista about how it’s insane that at a coffee shop we don’t have enough hot drinks that are caffeine free. When the barista offered her decaf, she told her that decaf doesn’t count. Neither does herbal tea. Then she started complaining about our disposable cups. The barista offered her a ceramic mug. “No. I have a mug in the car. I just need to get it to the car.” Then she was offended that we didn’t have a separate gluten-free space in our 200 square foot kitchen. The joys of a university town…
Birthdays include a guy to whom I owe a great deal; a guy who, if he were any better, would be famous for Tena; a rather nauseated fellow; a tragically underappreciated comic actress; the Man Who Would Be Siegfried; someone who fucked Spock and Jim Rockford; a guy who can’t write songs, lead a band, or ride Space Mountain; a human punchline; and a guy famously persecuted by Obama for embarrassing his regime.
And speaking of embarrassment, here’s some Links to chew on.
“No, seriously, we can’t even try to be non-partisan. It’s our duty.”
Interesting interview wherein the quiet part is said out loud.
“Fuck that shit, it’s Cleveland.”
Serious question for the techie types: How do they trace this?
On the one hand, lots of bureaucrats have been dumped. They shout the loudest. On the other, this idiot has brought The Food Babe into policy-making. OMWC says “Dump RFK, put Bhattacharya in charge.”
Why Reddit is dangerous garbage.
I thought it would have been Trayvon.
This is US taxpayer responsibility why, exactly?
A good start- now do NPR and PBS…
Sometimes the Old Guy likes to post profound music, other times, a delectable bon-bon.

They have sun in Canada?
Today’s probably the wrong day for that joke.
Sound like that broad needs some Waffle House justice.
Dammit. Overslept. At work by 7:20, only late by 2+ hrs.
I caught up on a week’s worth of sleep, I hope (but doubt).
Be better than me! Keep sleeping. (Or if ya gotta work? Show up on time.)

Fucking paywall. Sorry. Israel bombing Isfahan site. I’ll see if I can find an alternative link.

I know you posted Old Man Music.. but this made my brain loop here. Morning all. Glad you had a nice Erie trip, OMWC.
“According to two people familiar with the matter, World ID could soon become a way for Reddit users to verify that they are unique individuals while remaining anonymous on the platform.”
Remain anonymous?

To make sure you have enough Enya and Kitaro records?
I think the whole idea should just Sail Away.
Naw, just go with the Orinoco Flow.
That should take care o’ bein’ blue.
“If World ID becomes one of Reddit’s third-party providers, it would be good news for Tools for Humanity, which was founded six years ago with the lofty goal of providing a universal basic income to the world by offering them cryptocurrency called Worldcoin in exchange for scanning their eyeballs with an Orb.”
Sounds more like a killing joke.
OK, that has to be a joke, right?
scanning their eyeballs with an Orb
Mrs. Holiness handles all the money in our house. How is she supposed to use an Orb to scan her squinty Korean eyes? This seems pretty racist. Only letting Round Eyes use this new tech.
She’ll just have to take one of your eyes and keep it in a jar.
The world of Demolition Man inches closer.
Hmm… skimming the article, it doesn’t say if the pen cams were wireless transmitters or anything — if they were, I’d assume IP tracing access to them (assuming IPv6 hosting, not talking to a server which would be easier).
Otherwise, if they were local storage and he was intended to come back to retrieve them (which is its own possibility on nabbing him), I’m sure they have serial numbers in the firmware and you could trace the sale and shipment from the manufacturer through the sales channels.
Tech Glibs who don’t suck at network stuff will doubtless have further possibilities… that’s just off the top of my head.
I use game cams to look for critters around the farm. The first picture is always some old guy walking away from the camera.. I get a lot of pictures of tree limbs blowing in the wind.
The last set up behind the garage was lots of crow pictures, a raccoon and a bear and tree limbs moving from the wind.
Town near where I grew up and used to go the beach.
It’s on the boardwalk. My guess is there are like a billion cameras both public and private that tracked him and the idiot likely bought something or paid for parking electronically.

If you cut US aid to HIV prevention programs, then people would stop getting HIV, and we can’t have that.

Looks like King Walz tried to activate Reggie Jackson to take out Special K.
It will be interesting to see how local proggies try to spin this embarrassing turn of events.
Well that didn’t take long. Turns out that the shooter was: A devout Christian with failed ambitions and an arsenal of firearms who chose ‘war’
The narrative now is that he is a religious kook with lots of guns.
Seems to me he is a broken man who went cuckoo.
Walz v Klobuchar? BITCH FIGHT!
The whole thing gets curiouser and curiouser.
It’s through the looking glass, people!
This can’t be. He can’t just be full stop crazy. That is going to wreck the narrative on both sides.
The anti-gun crowd might still be able to salvage something from this shit show. But, yeah, everyone else is going to be disappointed if they try to hang this asshole around their opponent’s neck.
GT…yes long shift today. Luckily I have a few things to do and catch up on
The gates are set to open momentarily for the Dayton Air Show, so I expect it to start getting noisy (and not so Tranquil) any old time now. 😣
“A Russian soldier on the frontlines in Ukraine murdered his comrade and ate the corpse to survive the grim wartime conditions — only to end up dying anyway, Kyiv’s military intelligence reported.
A call between two Russian soldiers who shared the jaw-dropping story of the cannibalistic ‘Brelok’, who killed his countryman ‘Foma’, was allegedly intercepted by Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, according to the Kyiv Post.”
https://nypost.com/2025/06/20/world-news/russian-soldier-eats-comrade-to-survive-in-ukraine-report/
So it could be bullshit.
The Post will print any bit of nonsensical propaganda that fits the narrative.
Unfortunately, so does every other outlet. Although, they are more tied to the neocons at NR than most.
No different from the comments section here….
Hey, my propaganda is totally sensible!
Not surprising, not unbelievable and not unlikely. That sort of shit happens in all protracted wars. I remember how shocked people were about a case just like that in Bosnia. It also happened a few times in inter-war Germany where the victorious allies were essentially continuing WW1conditions in the country.
Under extreme conditions people crack and do crazy things – news at 11

Switcheroo. I expected her complaint to be that you had them at all, and were burying the earth with unnecessary trash.

I had enough with these spoiled brats.
“Nixon, however, committed to just two days of the five — a full 48 hours of abstaining from her beloved cinnamon raisin bagels with lox.”
Straight to jail!
About 100K wrestlers in the US alone would sneer at that sort of ‘hunger strike’. Or any hunger strike, for that matter.
Narcissist’s daughter screams for attention. I see. Anyway….
Who do they think cares about their performative bullshit?
Ahh Reuters. It’s all about the framing. I’m ok with him getting bail, but let’s have some fun.
“That’s a big protest,” Melber admitted. “I’ve been to cover protests. Sometimes a few thousand feels like a lot, if they’re packed in and loud. Tens of thousands is certainly big, and you can cover it. But where does that compare to 5 million people in one day this weekend? Indeed, at their height, the Tea Party estimates … would be 1/20 of what we saw just this weekend alone — 20 times the number of protests.”
Despite those numbers, Melber said the anti-Trump resistance was still largely underestimated and undercovered by the media: “The narrators — whether they’re on podcasts or traditional D.C. media — might be missing it.”
5 million people. He counted them. And nobody he knows doesn’t hate President Cartoon Villain.
Notice the media never interviews to the protesters.
I did notice. The whole thing was a staged performance just like that article is.
It is all bullshit, start to finish.
Poor dears. I’m not even buying the idea that their tantrums fell out of the news because Iran. No, I think the MSM knows the whole thing was a dud. Otherwise they’d be trumpeting the fake numbers every hour on the news.
How can you call it a dud? We have no king! They won!

“President Donald Trump announced on Friday he and Secretary of State Marco Rubio had secured a “wonderful” treaty between Rwanda and Congo, as Pakistan formally nominated him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
“I am very happy to report that I have arranged, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a wonderful Treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Republic of Rwanda, in their War, which was known for violent bloodshed and death, more so even than most other Wars, and has gone on for decades,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social announcement.
“This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World,” Trump wrote in the post. “I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for this, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia (A massive Ethiopian built dam, stupidly financed by the United States of America, substantially reduces the water flowing into The Nile River), and I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional Countries signing on, and will unify the Middle East for the first time in ‘The Ages!’”

What if he identifies as the third black President?
With any luck, maybe now people will start to understand that simply being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize is utterly meaningless.
Obama’s already proved that winning it was meaningless – even more meaningless than the Best New Artist
Grammy.
Nah, Team A will continue celebrating it while Team B complains that only members of Team A get one.
GT gets it.
Being offered a Nobel prize is an insult so….
How many of those efforts he listed are in the news?

Khalil was released on bail shortly before 8 p.m. ET on Friday after U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz concluded he is not a flight risk as he’s married to a U.S. citizen, has no criminal record and a baby at home.
I thought getting him to leave was the whole point of the exercise.
And then he says Trump fucked with the wrong guy; that sounds like a threat.
I refer to him as “the Columbia Jew hater” to my progressive friends and they pointedly ignore it every time I use it.
And here I thought the left – yet again – chose the wrong person to crown as the face of another one of their ridiculous causes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What’s wrong with the food babe?
My wife and I recently went down the rabbit hole of critics of the HC system and it’s treatment approach (mainly reading Drs Attia and Makarey) and ended up reading clean food stuff from Drs Hyman and Means.
I asked the same thing. Apparently, she said some very stupid things in the past.
Ah, got it
We need people to tell us how to feed ourselves? I dont think the food babe is the problem.
Yes. Yes they do.
I mean some people put pineapple on pizza
Fabulously ignorant fear mongering. Horrible pseudoscience. Stunning stupidity coupled with sharp self-promotion.

“Nearly 20,000 patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering could lose access to critical care because of a contract battle between the renowned cancer hospital and health insurance behemoth UnitedHealthcare.
The two sides have until the end of June to hash out a new deal over reimbursement rates — but are trading blame while patients, many in need of lifesaving care, anxiously wait to see if they will keep in-network treatment.”
https://nypost.com/2025/06/20/us-news/msk-and-unitedhealthcare-contract-battle-could-affect-access-to-care-for-thousands/
What a mess. We need price transparency, and eliminate certificates of need, prescription requirements, DTC advertising, and tying insurance to employers.
I usually expect to see these inevitable pissing contests between a big insurance provider and a big hospital/health care system later in the calendar year. It’s either that or a public slap fight between a cable company and a local broadcaster. Or both. 🙄
Yeah, same happened with my insurer and the inevitable settlement news arrived around December.
I don’t think you can fix our ‘system’ it’s kind of the ultimate example of what happens when you spend decades “solving problems” by ad hoc government interference. The idea that the best way to provide and pay for medical treatments is to have a massive Federal bureaucracy interacting with massive State bureaucracies, massive corporate bureaucracies on the payment side, and massive corporate bureaucracies on the provider side, none of which have either the doctor or patient as their focus, is just stupid. We’ve created multiple giant industries, regulated by and interfered with by multiple agencies to replace the simple mechanism of a customer paying someone for a service. You know, the mechanism that when it’s allowed to operate has simultaneously made producers rich and goods and services more affordable.
One might be tempted to think that it was all a big boondoggle from the beginning to pave the way for socialized healthcare…
Healthcare is such an awful industry. You have the issues you describe plus it falls woefully short of actually promoting heath. MDs are still running around promoting decades old defunct dogmas like no HRT because it causes cancer or that blood cholesterol is based upon what you eat
Plus it is so fully algorithm and admin led you end all sorts of nonsensical policies and practices
My kids are not to follow in my footsteps and will be told to avoid working in HC
That is impossible. We have Obamacare. All of these problems went away.
I tell that to every lefty that bitches about the system. Fake news. Obama ensured that all Americans have access to high quality low cost care in 2010. There are no uninsured people.
Justice at last
Today, we have the opportunity to fully realize the promise of freedom symbolized by Juneteenth through guaranteed income programs—a bold step toward fair compensation in reparation efforts to those still suffering from the legacy of slavery. These programs aren’t charity, but a chance to finally honor a commitment that should have been fulfilled generations ago.
Guaranteed income is a simple but powerful concept: unconditional, direct, and continuous cash payments delivered to residents. Disbursed without work requirements or restrictive conditions, guaranteed income operates as an investment in the agency of individuals. It has bipartisan and broad support: Americans of all political parties—Democrats, Republicans, and independents—approve of guaranteed income as a tool to eliminate poverty.
——-
The ACLU of Louisiana, in partnership with the Fund for Guaranteed Income and donors Buck and Gracie Close, implemented a guaranteed income pilot program as a form of reparations. This pilot was the first of its kind funded through voluntary reparations, in which oppressors’ descendants choose to actively redistribute their wealth and power to the oppressed.
That’s nice.
‘voluntary reparations’
These people never remember the lesson of Danegeld.
Celebrating the end of slavery by having Marse Gubmint feed, clothe and house the poor seems to miss a point somewhere.
‘The Oppressors’ saw this coming. That is why they all left the country in 1865. They live in Brazil now.
What ‘the oppressed’ say always boils down to “Give me money”. IOW, they are grifters.
Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.
Guaranteed income offers an alternative that makes everyone safe by giving them a rightful share of the nation’s collectively produced and inherited wealth.
Great googly moogly.
And of course those who decide who gets what rightful share get to pick what rightful share belongs to them.
The whole thing reminds me of the Python skit ‘Dennis More’.
Nope, the ACLU aren’t commies at all. 🙄
It’s nice watching them burn what little is left of their credibility.
While we were worrying about “fascism” it appears “communism” has crept in the house.
Not gonna let a little ALS get in the way of hittin’ that pussy.

Didn’t they do that a long time ago?
I’ve concluded that the Dave Smith vs. Neocons (eg. Ben Shapiro) thing, like most things in politics, is two retards fighting. That Trump should be impeached because the U.S. has been arming Israel for decades is a stupid argument. That people on the left (eg. Ana Kasparian screaming on Her Take) are against supporting Israel means that the right should be in favor of it is a stupid argument.
The Iran deal was “trust me, bro” so Trump was right in throwing it out, regardless whether or not Iran already violated that agreement.
That Trump couldn’t remember who Tucker Carlson is just seems weird.
Trump knows very well who Tucker Carlson is. He’s just trolling.

Outrageous slur and slander
Several California Democrats slammed Vice President Vance after he referred to Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) as “Jose” during a Friday presser in Los Angeles.
“I was hoping Jose Padilla would be here to ask a question,” Vance said, referring to Padilla’s forcible removal from a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) press conference last week.
“I guess he decided not to show up because there wasn’t a theater,” he continued.
Democrats railed against Vance for misnaming the state’s first Latino senator, who the vice president served alongside before his successful White House bid.
“Calling him ‘Jose Padilla’ is not an accident,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said in a Friday post on the social media platform X.
Impeach him.
This is what they have got. This and tranny boys. And the fight for illegal aliens, rapists, murderers and pedos.
They are going to sweep the midterms!
I think they’ll just go with abortion again.
If by sweep, you mean “dems retake the house with a narrow margin”, then yes.
Politics are local, and there are only about 40 seats that are legit up for grabs.
Understandable slip of the tongue, seeing as Jose Padilla (the convicted terrorist) is more of a household name than Alex Padilla, a virtual unknown.
Newsom should issue a proclamation naming J D Vance persona non grata and forbid him to enter the state of California.
“The Department of Justice (DOJ) has been going after anti-ICE rioters in Oregon, filing criminal charges against several Antifa militants accused of committing criminal acts during violent organized direct actions targeting the ICE facility in Portland. The criminal charges range from disobeying orders to assault on federal police officers, which is a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison.”

Good, but antifa will just recruit more from an endless supply of commie retards.
The ‘dont kill Hitler’ rule has been discussed around here a number of times. Marx has been mentioned as a better target but I dont think so. The same way Hitler was inevitable Marx was as well. In fact, we may be lucky to have had those guys as the possible replacements might have been worse.
Nah…fuck it. I would still strangle them both in their cribs.
Yeah, you don’t hold off on getting rid of Very Bad Indeed without a high degree of certainty that the replacement will be Even Worse.
“The left-wing activist group 50501 has announced that they have disassociated themselves with the Salt Lake City chapter of the group after one of the Salt Lake City 50501 “peacekeepers” fatally shot a bystander when attempting to shoot someone who had an AR-15 rifle…
Last Saturday, during the Salt Lake City “No Kings” protest, there were thousands marching in the streets of the city in a protest against President Donald Trump when a couple of so-called “peacekeepers” associated with 50501 Salt Lake City spotted and confronted Arturo Gamboa, who was carrying a rifle at the event. Open carry of firearms is legal in Utah.
One of the “peacekeepers” claimed that Gamboa was handling the rifle in a “firing position,” however, video released earlier this week appeared to show his statement contradicted actual events, as the video appeared to show Gamboa pointing the rifle down at the ground, ready to be of use, but not aiming at anyone…
Gamboa was facing murder charges on suspicion of being the shooter earlier this week, however, his charges have not been finalized, per CNN. He has been held without any charges in the Salt Lake County jail only because of District Attorney Sim Gil’s extensions on the detainment…
Gill, a Soros-linked DA, has previously been slammed over allegedly targeting police officers with spurious charges as well as allowing for drug crime to run rampant in Salt Lake. The so-called “peacekeeper,” although under investigation, has not been met with any charges and has not been publicly identified.”
https://thepostmillennial.com/national-activist-group-ditches-salt-lake-city-chapter-after-peacekeeper-commits-fatal-shooting-of-bystander
So maybe the unidentified shooter was a cop, but is being protected because of his politics.
Um, “was not a cop”
“Gamboa was facing murder charges on suspicion of being the shooter”
Bullshit. From the very beginning it was clear he was not the shooter.
Note that the person who shot at someone for the mere possession of a firearm was himself in possession of a firearm. There is no justification for what he did and no justification for what the DA is doing.
I think it was pointed out yesterday very nicely that the left is about outcomes. The law is viewed as either a means to or impediment to their desired outcomes. This is textbook example no. nine billion, four hundred thirty two million and…..
Regarding the flagpole article on Trump – “He dictated a statement to his press secretary…” That sounds like something a dictator would do.
I thought the “best poles” link was going to be an article about strippers.
Civic duty
Most importantly, liberal education nurtures what Tocqueville called “self-interest rightly understood”—the recognition that individual flourishing depends on collective wellbeing. This perspective counters the narrow self-interest that undermines civic friendship. By engaging with texts across centuries and cultures in community, students discover their own interests are bound up with a broader human collective.
The decline in civic engagement that Tocqueville would have found alarming is all too familiar in contemporary America. In 2000, Robert Putnam’s “Bowling Alone” documented a civic withdrawal that has helped lead to our weakened democratic institutions. Yuval Levin’s “A Time to Build” updated this argument in 2020 and challenged us to renew our institutions.
——-
This civic vacuum isn’t just unfortunate — it is dangerous. We become strangers to one another, vulnerable to manipulation and increasingly unable to distinguish fact from fiction.
Here’s the challenge: Our democracy is eroding rapidly, and civic culture builds slowly. And Tocqueville warns us that there is no shortcut. “In democratic countries, the art of association is the mother of art; the progress of all the rest depends upon the progress it has made.” Democratic preservation requires both immediate work to counter democratic breakdown and long-term investment in our civic infrastructure.
Learn to love Big Brother.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think our pal Tocqueville ever envisioned a “democracy” with such a stranglehold on individuals’ lives and decisions. Also, it’s pretty apparent what Professor Egghead means by civil society, and it isn’t individualism or intellectual freedom of choice.
I would like to hate-read that. Re-link?

The WSJ is owned by News Corp…who has the same law firm as the Chamber of Commerce. So, the wsj is essentially their rag. How many of the regulations that govern the automobile industry were written by….the automobile industry?
The basic physics behind all of the fuel regs make no sense. I will give them this….the regulations started back in the ’50’s at the behest of the insurance industry – not having anything to do with fuel but with safety. They have made autos wildly safer than they used to be, like sci-fi level safer.

If enacted, the proposal would eliminate fines for violating CAFE, all but nullifying rules that for generations have pushed automakers to churn out ever cleaner and more fuel-efficient vehicles. That technology has saved two trillion gallons of gasoline over the past 50 years, according to the journal Energy Policy.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Wow. It flooded the roads with giant ‘trucks’ and the inverse is true. It probably wasted two trillion gallons of gasoline.

The Hill: “Tocqueville’s forgotten solution to America’s democratic crisis”
Federal and state regulations have directly affected the look and feel of vehicles on U.S. roads—including through fuel-saving technologies such as turbocharged engines that deliver more power, transmissions with more gears and powertrains that automatically shut off at stoplights to conserve gasoline.
Hallelujah.
“powertrains that automatically shut off at stoplights to conserve gasoline”
No.
… in laboratory testing scenarios only. Pay no mind to decreased life and significantly more expensive 12V battery and more robust starter costs as well as their environmental costs.
“Automakers have proven time and time again that without strong and enforceable fuel-economy standards, many of them will leave proven, popular, and cost-effective technologies like hybrids sitting and gathering dust on the shelf,” said Chris Harto, a Consumer Reports policy analyst.
So popular and cost-effective they require government incentives and coercion.
Pay no mind to decreased life and significantly more expensive 12V battery and more robust starter costs as well as their environmental costs.
A totally cost-effective way to save a teacup’s worth of gasoline annually.
“My opinion is just that and nothing more. And on an issue as consequential as war or even limited military strikes, there absolutely should be some disagreement and debate. I’m not a purist, and you don’t need to agree with me on 100% of the issues for us to be friends. The tent of the Republican Party is big enough for both of us.
But what I have absolutely no respect nor tolerance for is the disingenuous, revisionist, conspiracy peddling, and fear-mongering of Tucker Carlson and his incel army of internet goblins. Carlson isn’t an honest broker, merely asking genuine questions. He has an agenda, and he formulates his questions to gaslight the impression that any disagreement with him is proof of “warmongering” at the behest of — well, you know.
Tucker is an extremely intelligent person. I don’t buy for a second that he actually doubts the Holocaust took place. I don’t buy for a second that he thinks the conditions of daily life in Russia far exceed ours. And I don’t buy for a second that he legitimately worries about America getting sucked into another Middle East quagmire, one that might result in the end of America as we know it.”
https://pjmedia.com/caskeet/2025/06/20/tucker-carlson-unconditionally-surrenders-in-the-civil-war-that-wasnt-n4940990
I think he is legitimately worried about America getting sucked into another Middle East quagmire. Is a reasonable worry based on our long history of being sucked into Middle East quagmires to fund the MIC.
“Journalist Tucker Carlson called to apologize to President Donald Trump after he criticized him for betraying his America First movement by supporting the Israeli missile strikes on Iran last week.
Trump revealed that Carlson had called him after the president called him out as ‘kooky’ on Monday and taunted him for not being on cable television anymore.
‘Tucker’s a nice guy. He called and apologized the other day because he thought he said things that were a little bit too strong and I appreciated that,’ Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday.”

Wanton destruction
Proposed cuts to health insurance programs in the budget bill being pushed through Congress by President Donald Trump could put hundreds of thousands of health care jobs at risk — jeopardizing one of the few notably strong areas of the U.S. job market.
——-
Less funding for Medicaid and fewer people with health insurance would mean a drop-off in doctor’s office visits, prescription refills and medical procedures — and, as a result, fewer workers needed to support those types of services. It could lead to the loss of nearly 500,000 health care jobs over the next decade, according to an analysis by George Washington University and the Commonwealth Fund. The expiration of the ACA tax subsidies, which were enacted in 2021, would result in the loss of an additional 140,000 jobs, a separate analysis from George Washington University found.
“Hospitals will close, health centers will close, pharmacies in some parts of the country will close because they will lose revenue,” said Leighton Ku, director for the Center for Health Policy Research at George Washington University, who worked on the analyses. “There are going to be job losses, and we’re talking about middle class jobs being lost.”
Why does Trump hate doctors?
It’s not for a business sector to be “notably strong” when it’s sucking in hundreds of billions of dollars of government money.
