Is that some kind of sikh burn on the tariff plan?
These puns jab at me.
They certainly didn’t curry favor with Trump.

He’s having naan of that.
And this should infuriate our country as much as Scottish girls with axes being arrested.
No real war going on… no real excuse.. just “COVID emergency spending!” being normalized as we all knew it would.. The Fox Business graph is telling… rolling back to 2019 would be a good start. 2000 would be better. But no — we have Representative Thelma, Senator Louise — and Orange Brad Pitt a-grinning away as they gun the gas of the country.
Bleah… morning anyway, Banjos. Morning all. I suppose I should take solace in that FedGov makes me look like a solid financial planner.
“COVID emergency spending!” being normalized
“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before”
Have we ever cut the fiscal bailouts from the Obama administration?
The graph implies we did — we dip below 1.4T deficit in ’09, but then recover to only .4T by 2014. I assume that’s Great Recession era stimulus timing out.
Never forget: Trump pushed for and signed the emergency COVID spending (part of his support for lockdowns).
And that One Big Beautiful Bill? Depending on how you do the math, it increased deficits.
Trump is certainly never going to push for an overall spending reduction. Wouldn’t matter if he did – Congress will never send him one.
There are ways to do the math that suggest the Big Ugly Bill *doesn’t* increase the deficit?
Well, it doesn’t borrow money to give it to me.
There are ways beyond normal understanding in the swamp that is Government accounting.
There are some claims that the combination of tariffs and massive expansion of the economy from its awesomeness will not increase the debt. Those assumptions are about as realistic as the ones that climate scammers use when predicting Global Meltdown by 2030.
Morning, Banjos.
Seems backwards, I think the logo was fine as long as they didn’t remodel the stores.
It’s cheaper to stop the logo change than to re-remodel, and they are looking to end the PR nightmare.
I find the logo busy and confusing but as the news has been trumpeting non-stop for the last week, I am probably not the target customer.
I recall seeing a food place in Heathrow named “Eat” with a simple serif font logo. I now envision this being Rhy’s type of establishment.
Come eat at Restaurant.
I would chow down at Eat.
But I am with rhy, not my kind of place and I thought the logo change was good.
Like I said yesterday this seems like just a bad marketing plan, nothing really sinister behind it. Taking a unique brand and making it more like every other brand seems like a dumb idea.
Yep. These companies need to quit hiring and taking advice from people who are not, and would never likely be, their customers.
When we talk about “groupthink” it always has to do with politics, but the same problem exists in art, design, music, and architecture. People using AI to do those tasks are just going to make it worse. We live in a time when truly creative people are becoming rare.

I was listening to a story on how thalidomide is now being used to treat leprosy. The journalo made an offhand comment on how female lepers are forced to sign some document saying they double pinkie swear that they won’t get preggos while being treated with thalidomide (It was an NPR story they had to work in some sort of oppression).
I was shouting at the radio and cursing the journalo. Using thalidomide to treat leprosy is sort of interesting. Female lepers having active sex lives is the real story! Tell me more about that.
Who is fucking them? What are the pit falls? Is there any special position that the lepresses and their loves like?

Personally, I’d appreciate our government not colluding with our corporations to flood our labor markets with cheap foreign workers in general… but yeah, trucking would be a good start. T-swizzle to the rescue and not a moment too soon.
They missed the opportunity to adopt Cracky as their mascot.
I probably pay attention to T-swizzle more than most here (being crazy enough to like several of her albums…), but I have to say… given her track record: 1) I’m not holding my breath for any engagement to work out and 2) I don’t really give a flying flip if it does, honestly. Like any human, celebrity or not — I hope her personal life works out… but I’m certainly not invested in it. People are strange in that they do get so wrapped up in such things… but we knew that.

You could call Sean Payton, but the Chiefs don’t play the Broncos until week 11.
Hey buddy, stop doing that.
I must be doing something right with my phone. Not only did I not get notifications of “The Engagement” I didn’t get notice of a violent criminal on the lamb in my neighborhood yesterday. My wife and kids did, my old neighbor did, just not me. They caught the guy hiding in a pond (swamp really) at the end of my block by our mail boxes.
You are doing Do Not Disturb correctly.
If he was on the lamb, I assume he was not towing the lion.
The violent criminal in question was obviously from rural Scotland.

In this case they’re likely right (as it is an attempt to enforce CA regulations on other states if you dip a toe into a California highway and all). Can’t say anything that cuts down on CARB’s power would upset me though… too many decades of them thinking they get to dictate not just the economy but life in general with no mechanism for push backs (since Sacramento is captured by the same forces and doesn’t care). Revoke all the special privileges for California air.

Miles a year. I’m thankful my CA customers are only 35 miles inside the state and across the fence from eachother.
So that’s the way the cracker crumbles…..
Joking aside — I’m not a frequent customer of theirs as it stands… but I doubt I’ll go back until and unless I hear they’ve restored food quality, and any of their regulars should probably hold out for the same. (Not that they’re alone in this… it is getting to the point where it is hard to find a restaurant that doesn’t either suck or where you don’t feel fleeced looking at quantity versus cost… thanks rampant inflation!)
Yup, Cracker Barrel is not alone there. The industry is undergoing a doom spiral IMHO, caused almost entirely by policies pushed by Democrats. “Living wage” being near the top.
All of the Covidiocy didn’t help one wit either.
I’m seeing the same thing with fast food. I used to love Steak & Shake, but they raised the price on their value meals. Last time the burger was terrible and the chicken strips were three scrawny little things.

It’s the same crappy meat/fries/salads at every place now.
One of the local diners has on their menu both home made corned beef hash and regular corned beef hash. The girlfriend and I were there (her first time at the place) and they were out of the home made corned beef hash. I went with the chicken fried steak instead.
“The Wisconsin Supreme Court placed Dugan on administrative leave just days after she was charged. The judge continues to receive full pay and benefits, raking in nearly $50,000 over the run of her suspension from the bench, The Federalist reported Tuesday.”
Shouldn’t she be fired?
Some variation on “innocent until proven guilty”? Suspended based on the charges… can’t be fired until the charges are confirmed by a conviction… that seems reasonable to me if so.
Let’s say you worked at Home Depot and took a huge shit in the gardening section. You think you would be suspended with pay?
The employee handbook mandates I get bathroom breaks! It doesn’t say where I take them!
Few if any private businesses will suspend you (never mind with pay) indefinitely while they wait, possibly years) for the outcome of a trial for a federal crime.
That’s just home made, artisanal manure. You should be given a raise.

“US District Judge Alan B. Johnson once again dismissed former University of Wyoming students’ lawsuit against their sorority for allowing a biological male to join their group, ruling last week that the sorority can define “women” as it chooses…..
He also dismissed the former students’ citation of the definition of “women” under President Donald Trump’s executive order in January as “adult…human females,” adding that he did not even understand what that description meant.
“We are not entirely sure what this definition means, not having a degree in biology,” Johnson wrote. “But even assuming this definition aligned with Plaintiffs’, it only applies to the Executive Branch’s interpretation of federal laws and administration policy. It is not relevant in the world of private contracts, which is where we currently find ourselves.””

At my school, the Kappas were hotter than the sorority average.
KKG and Pi Beta Phi were the babes at mine.
You don’t need a degree in biology to know what this means. If you need something official, middle school sex ed class will do.
Using the materials from pre-2010, of course.
Reagan appointee. I wonder if this isn’t a gigantic troll, particularly about not having a biology degree. Perhaps he hopes this trial record makes it all the way up to SCotUS.
He also appointed Sandra OConnor.
Judge’s biological idiocy aside, I can see the argument that this is a private contract between the women (the old fashioned kind) and the sorority. That said, if the sorority’s bylaws refer to women, and I assume they do, at some point a judge is going to have to make a call about what that means.

“Texas’s redrawn congressional maps have drawn a lawsuit from the NAACP, accusing the state of committing a racial gerrymander with its maps that strip Black voters of their political power.
The lawsuit, joined by the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, names Texas’s Republican governor, Greg Abbott, and secretary of state, Jane Nelson, as defendants. It asks a federal judge for a preliminary injunction preventing the use of the redrawn maps, arguing that the redistricting violates the US constitution by improperly reducing the power of voters of color. It also argues that the maps violate section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.”

“This, too, fits into the right’s distorted gender stereotypes. Women are considered especially trustworthy and safe, but only if they are complying with what men want from them — in this case, Maxwell offering the preposterous claim that Trump was a “gentleman in all respects.” If women resist men, however, they are seen as quarrelsome and disobedient, and no longer trustworthy. This dangerous model is generally convenient when denying or downplaying sexual abuse, because victims who speak out are easy to dismiss as troublemakers.
In this case, the right’s notions of “good” versus “bad” womanhood reveals a deep sickness. It renders a convicted child sex predator as trustworthy when she’s compliant with what male authorities want from her, while actual victims are brushed aside. MAGA’s stereotypes make for a perfect inversion of reality — especially because delusion is the state in which they need to live.”

I’m limited to driving my truck in California to a total of 1000 miles a year because it’s “too old.” I have to file with CA for that thousand mile exemption annually in addition to IFTA (which should not exist as well) and if I am ever late in my exemption filing my company is permanently banned from operating non Tier IV trucks in California forever.
CA should be kicked out of the Union or parted out.
CARB (legitimately) fucks with interstate commerce, that in and of itself should be enough to get it dismantled.
And by legitimately, I don’t mean they have a right to, I mean this is one case where standing should actually be a thing, but probably isn’t for reasons.
Q: why is everybody calling what is a obviously a hatchet an axe? Is this a thing? Even people translating kung fu movies don’t make that mistake.
Acktchually – Hatchets are a form of Axe.
Don’t you mean Axeually?
I reject your taxonomy. Source: Boy Scout Handbook.
They are used differently for different tasks.
Also, just as in this case, hatchets are concealable weapons that peasants use when they’re not permitted purpose-built weapons. When peasants openly revolt they use spear/pole arm analogues.
The Boy Scouts were wrong about many things.
Axes started as one-handed stone tools and grew until there were varieties all the way up to polearm size where the limits of the human defined the upper range. Because one variety of single handed axes gained the name hatchet doesn’t mean it left the category of Axe.
Axes come in many sizes. Buit even a small axe is not a hatchet, even if it can be repurposed by a large person to be used with hatchet-technique for hatchet-jobs.
A maul is not a sledge.
Before we make you die on this hill of incorrectness, pray tell, what feature make it ‘not an axe’?
*bzzt*
“Feature” is not the relevant differentiator. You are penalized 10 yards and loss of down for that question-begging.
Ok, but where do you stand on machetes? Axe or non axe?
Incorrect Response – There has to be something that distinguishes it otherwise you cannot claim it is not the class it clearly belongs to.
If you don’t have a reason it does not belong to the category “Axe”, admit you are wrong.
Machetes are mostly blade fitting into the end of a handle and the question for them is “Sword or not sword”.
Again, you’re begging the question by declaring without support that “axe” is a general class (presumably of tool with a limited sharpened are which extends past the hand and with a deliberate weight imbalance) rather than a tool with a specific technique/task combination design. You can whack a nail with a wrench, but it’s not a hammer. Though you can of course make a hammer-wrench thusly: https://www.grainger.ca/en/product/p/RASRS12H
Just like with your classification of “machete” as “sword” rather than “knife” or “cleaver.”
Also, the original (see also: archaic) categorization is not actually relevant to modern usage (sedan, cabriolet, phaeton, etc.)
Even a quarter-sized axe is designed to be used with one stationary hand and one sliding hand. Just like a quarter-sized violin is designed to be played by with a bow. Even if you use a plectrum and change the tuning, it’s never going to be a ukelele.
Is your contention then that the difference is in use and therefore there is no physical distingishing characteristic by which one might tell that a given tool is one or the other until the operator acts?
Guys, I think it’s time to bury the hatchet. Not axe! Burying an axe can also end a fight but it’s messier.
Jar – Who’s fighting? This is just spirited debate.
Yes, but I am not sure how to make an axe joke about that, so I am retconning this into an armed conflict!
Not simply “use” but “design for use.”
A big ol dude could pick up a 1/4 axe and use it hatchetly (maybe. They’d need to be pretty big). But unless it was a hybrid or pretty incompetent design (like a straight haft), you’d be able to see that it was designed for use by a smaller person.
What about hand axes?
Hand axes like hatchets, fransiscas, tomahawks, etc?
I think the existence of the hand axe argues for your side UCS, and no, I mean actual hand axes, the oldest tools known, which were initially handle less. If the proto-axe was a one handed tool that argues for hatchets as sub-category of axe.
@Jar – the earliest socketted axes were also designed for one-handed use, but NA is intentionally saying “history doesn’t matter” because it doesn’t help his case.
Hand axe is another name for a hatchet and proves the point. Were it not a separate thing from an axe, it would be named as are the other sizes of axe. Like sledgehammers — we don’t say “hand sledgehammer” for the small ones, those are just well, small sledgehammers.
I disregard history for the same reason I don’t consider a jogging stroller a variant of a travois, oxcart or wheelbarrow.
The problem that I see with your assumption, NA, is that there are so many types of ax that it does indeed become a classification rather than a specific. As there are hand axes, battle axes, fireman’s axes, double bit axes, Pulaski’s, European, splitting, and so on, hatchets are just one more to fall under that classification.
Thus All Hatchets Are Axes, Not All Axes Are Hatchets.
One good thing came out of this debate – I found a hand axe made in the USA for a reasonable price. I have plenty of knives but only one ax, and it wasn’t a very good one even before I misplaced it.
Named as are the other sizes of axe? As in descriptive word + axe? Like say hand + axe, battle +axe, broad + axe, felling + axe?
I am trying to break assumptions, taxonomy being so completely arbitrary. Like in Japan – the difference between a legally restricted weapon-type-knife and a purchasable by peasant tool-type-knife had(has) nothing to do with the sharpened part, but how the handle was(is) attached.
I am seeing people wondering how it was possible for a 14 year old to conceal an “axe” in her pants. Because they (like me) understand that while it’s not impossible to conceal an axe in your pants, it does call attention to the way you walk when you do so.
We could just call all marklars “marklar.”
One good thing came out of this debate – I found a hand axe made in the USA for a reasonable price. I have plenty of knives but only one ax, and it wasn’t a very good one even before I misplaced it.
Ooh shiny, I think I will buy one too.
@Jar – Hatchet comes from the french for little axe
No as in size, like I said. Either as proportional to a nominal or (as is more common today) actual size.
https://www.shforestrysupplies.com/shfs-outdoor-tools-equipment/shfs-axes-mauls/shfs-axes-hatchets.html?srsltid=AfmBOor04y112jDqVyT61dffYKBLqMIPV3RtTLYg0TZcn0CVmaDiWKL0
Note how they list “axes and hatchets” and not “axes and smaller axes.”
Because storefronts have always been sticklers for strict terminology when not required by law rather than making it easier for the lowest common denominator to reach the checkout.
There’s a wide gulf between having levels of generality in language and having only one noun for all objects. I’d argue that having the hierarchical taxonomy adds specificity rather than reducing it. Axe as general category is useful in some contexts meaning chopping tool (which is why I made the joke above about machetes, which would at that level of meaning be axes), but having the more and more specific levels of nomenclature nested under that general category doesn’t mean the top level is confusing. It’s a category by which you can be introduced to the specific tools referentially, so you start out with a limited, but basic understanding of what a hatchet is when it is defined using the word axe, with modifiers specifying the type of axe.
Successful store owners speak the language of their customers, and to the way those customers conceptualize the world.
The ones who do otherwise are Cracker Barrel.
“The customer is wrong but we still want their money so we won’t argue”
Looking at the linked hatchet I can’t help but notice that it’s all one piece of steel. No separate haft. Which “ow,” but is yet more support for my contention that features are less relevant than design in determining tool nomenclature/taxonomy.
Also, there’s a reason stacked leather vanished as a handle back in the ’70s.
No as in size, like I said. Either as proportional to a nominal or (as is more common today) actual size.
The link shows them named descriptive word + axe, it then separately gives head weight and handle length as specs. I think you are reaching with this argument, definitely more in the axe handle range than hatchet.
@NA – Nobody is forcing you to buy that model of sportsman’s axe.
Looking at the linked hatchet I can’t help but notice that it’s all one piece of steel. No separate haft. Which “ow,” but is yet more support for my contention that features are less relevant than design in determining tool nomenclature/taxonomy.

It’s an Estwing. If it is as good as their hammers I am more than willing to put up with a minor increase in felt impact for the durability. I have seen too many axes and hatchets fail at the neck.
For those in want of an ax: https://www.harryepstein.com/products/council-tool-3-1-2-lb-sport-utility-finish-jersey-axe-w-36-curved-handle-su35jc32c
“This is my favorite axe. It’s had twelve handles and three heads.”
Related to handles being consumable, and bolstering that design is the primary determinant for “handle + sharpened head tools” back when I did living history and tossed lots of tomahawks, we always called them either tomahawks (ususally just “hawks”) or throwing axes, and a quick glimpse online shows that that the most common term these days is “throwing axe.”
You know what term isn’t used? Throwing hatchet. Because throwing axes aren’t designed for hatchet jobs.
I have owned a leather-handled Estwing hammer just like that axe for many years. It’s my go-to.
You still have not established a groundwork for the repeated assertion that the ‘little axe’ is not an axe. You want to use the French term, that’s up to you, but it’s still an axe. And of course the little axe and the throwing axe are different subcategories of axe.
No, hatchets are designed for roofing. A throwing ax is designed for drinking.
What hatchet?

The one the Scottish girl was waving at her sister’s would-be rapist. She’s now been arrested for attempted self-defense.
I’m not seeing a link.

Another take on it.
(TLDR: 48 hour rule, no clear details, not many verified stories).
So this is some thing on X?
Yes it’s on X. Mainstream media isn’t going to touch it. An immigrant was harassing young girls. When he realized they weren’t having it, he baited one of them into showing her weapons to get her arrested for defending her sister.

Why you axing that question? Don’t you have a handle on the problem yet?
It wants to start Splitting Hares.
Last fall my wife was teaching my boy spelling words and she spelled axe “ax.” I almost filed for divorce. Apparently it’s a thing, but it’s wrong and no one spells it that way except her phonics book.
Both Axe and Ax are valid spellings, you Oxe.
It looks like the Europoors use “ax” sometimes. I hd to look for quite a while to find it used.
At least she didn’t spell is A-S-K.
A-S-K is African Axmerican Vernacular English, or AXVE.
TLAH, I would have thrown her out on the curb by her weave
Seriously though, is this a euro thing? A media thing like Glock/AR15/Pit Bull? General retardation couple with a complete unfamiliarity with manual labor among the ruling caste?

That’s because she spent her character points on dual-wield rather than knife specialization. In a few more levels, she’s gonna be dangerous.

Oh no!
That was the whole declared and intended purpose – to incentivize them going home. This is not news to anyone who paid attention.
I’m glad it’s working, I just wish it was working faster.

Crazy name, but it isn’t germane.
Nice try. They are not immigrants. They should get out.
So… illegal/undocumented immigrants are sending themselves home? Isn’t that the point?

Not your neighborhood.
Seize the house.
Deport her and her four anchor babies.
If the treasury department is threatening to seize the house that implies she has an open case for tax evasion.

No guillotine for that one, THE BOATS is the appropriate justice.
Not only has the Libertarian Party become irrelevant, it has apparently stooped to thievery. More than a decade ago, they raised money for a headquarters property in D.C. area, pitching donors with the idea building ownership would save rental expense and be a memorial to founder David Nolan. Donors came through and a building was purchased in Alexandria, VA. for about $1mm. Over the years, the need for an HQ went away (whole nother story) and the HQ sat empty and not maintained. Recently, it was sold, with no intention to replace, and the LP netted about $630,000. It appears there is no intention to ask original donors if they’d like their money back; instead the proceeds will be used to cover the monthly losses as the LP spirals ever downward.
Apparently being a politician is more important than being a libertarian.
When your political party is irrelevant in terms of electibility, and runs symbolic candidates who actively oppose the supposed principles of the party, it goes badly.
The party of Reason.
If it isn’t used before Friday, I’ll have a link that may be of interest to you.
“Shiloh Hendrix, a Minnesota mother who was seen in a viral TikTok video in April being confronted by a man after an alleged confrontation with another child, may face criminal charges. In the wake of the video, Hendrix was doxxed and a fundraiser was launched on her behalf.
The City of Rochester, Minnesota, announced on Tuesday morning that the Rochester City Attorney’s Office is filing a complaint summons in connection with the incident. The draft complaint, which is subject to review and approval by a district court judge, charges Hendrix with three counts of disorderly conduct. The charges are misdemeanor-level ones and carry a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
The draft complaint accuses Hendrix of, “while in a public or private place and knowing, or having reasonable grounds to know, that it would or would tent to alarm, anger, disturb others, or provoke an assault or breach of peace, did wrongfully or unlawfully engage in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct, or in offensive, obscene or abusive language that would reasonably tent to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment in others, relative to” three victims: YJ, SHJ, and SBO.”

Sounds like protected speech. And what’s with all the anonymity?
What’s with ‘tent to alarm’ ‘tent to arouse’? Is there any remote chance that journalismists will attain basic familiarity with English?
Maybe that’s how the draft complaint was written.
It’s a big tent. All manner of offenses are welcome.
Maybe that’s how the draft complaint was written.
It isn’t, the complaint is linked and uses ‘tend’.
Looks like a shit law to me.
Ain’t no judge going to sign off on that…just a retarded attorney trying to make political noise in the stupidest way possible.

“President Trump stated on Truth Social that George Soros and his radical leftist son, Alex Soros, “should be charged with RICO because of their support of violent protests.”
A New York Times report indicates that the Gates Foundation has halted funding to nonprofit funds managed by Arabella, choosing instead to work directly with some partners rather than through intermediaries.
Tracing the Arabella network’s donors is tricky. But according to the NYT, the Gates Foundation has plowed $450 million into the network since 2008, which in turn funneled money into other nonprofit entities, ranging from radical leftist climate groups to abortion initiatives, and even supporting the permanent protest-industrial complex against President Trump.
With President Trump back in the White House and investigations focusing on corruption across the Democratic Party’s funding and nonprofit infrastructure, as well as ActBlue investigations, the risks for Bill Gates’ progressive NGO empire have never been greater.
Peter Schweizer and Seamus Bruner of the Government Accountability Institute recently revealed a report that detailed how the rogue anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ front group, waging a permanent protest against all things Trump, “bagged $114.8 million from the Arabella dark money network.””

Crowds for hire.
That rentamob shit is one thing that definitely needs to be cracked down on regardless of who’s doing it. It’s crazy that Soros et al have been milking that cow for decades.
Full circle I see – now Republicans want to use the law against dark money, since the Democrats are better at it.

‘Trump’s 50 Percent Tariff on India Takes Effect’
Will it also target service industries?
If not I don’t think this will affect India much. Getting rid of h1b would hurt them even more because of significant remittances… It would also push a lot of stuff over there which would be an error. A lot of these folks are now trained by the US so… Yeah better to keep the ones we already have.
End all H-series visas and put a tariff on servies of five times the rate for manufactured goods.
If he wants to hurt India he should institute an international calling surcharge. Let’s see how long offshoring customer service lines lasts if it costs $1.50 a call to redirect them overseas.
Toll avoidance has been a thing in the telco world since long distance was created. Been a while since I looked over the applicable laws, but I know there are restrictions on where you can originate calls from (from memory, you need a physical presence). Otherwise, I could place a call from the 440 area code, but have it originate from a 937 area code number, making it a local call to a 937 number.
International calls get more complicated.
Toll avoidance sure, but ATT doesn’t have an armed enforcement agency, and you could write the tax law imposing this fee to include VOIP etc.
Number portability has changed this, hasn’t it?
Ted S.:
On the individual level, yes. On the corporate/company level, kind of. Old school company phone systems would rely on area code (with or without exchange) as a proxy for locations for things such as time of day restrictions, hours of operation, and recording rules. That can no longer be the case (although there are arguments about that on the recording rules portion).
Should be an interesting lunch next week with the owner of my previous employer, a staunch Republican. When U.S. casting foundries started to shut down, due mostly to onerous enviro regs, in the late 90s, he was forced to move some sourcing to China. Then, when their treatment of the Uighurs came out, he did the right thing and moved sourcing out to India. Existing U.S. foundries – such as they are – are not taking new customers as they are at practical capacity. And it takes a few years to set up new foundries (while risking that the next president or even this one will drop tariffs on India and moot the need for new foundries in U.S.) With most of the castings going into valves for the U.S. oil, gas, chemical and pharma industries, he is hoping their trade association can get the ears of Trump and Vance to roll back this nonsense with India.
In the real world the problem is just what you describe. In a sane world this would all be the job of congress to get rid of the marxist environmental bullshit. It never should have happened in the first place.
Just out of curiosity, is Dresser still the No. 1 supplier of valves, or am I decades behind?
TJ Maxx hardest hit.
It is getting to be that time. Honey Harvest Time!
I sent out an email this morning by repurposing one of Tundra’s old invites. If you did not get the email and want a copy send me an email (pope @ jimbo.church). I’ll be happy to send you a copy.
The short details is that it will be 9/21 (third Sunday of September). Show up early to help process the honey. The potluck dinner starts at noon. (I show up at 11:45).
Come meet Glibs in real life.
I’ll be there. I will mostly likely have a few bottles of honey byproduct.

Meddling in the internal affairs of another country? Us?
Denmark’s foreign minister has summoned the top US diplomat in Copenhagen, following a report that American citizens have been conducting covert operations in Greenland.
Denmark’s public broadcaster DR quoted sources as saying the aim was to infiltrate Greenland’s society and promote its secession from Denmark to the US, although it was unable to clarify who the men were working for.
Danish intelligence warned Greenland was being targeted by “various kinds of influence campaigns”.
Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said “any attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom [of Denmark] will of course be unacceptable”, and the US charge d’affaires had been summoned in that light.
I thought we shut down Radio Free Europe.
Cool we may be adding a line to the Marine Hymn:
Through the Gardens of Tivoli
Didn’t Denmark increase their dog patrols to defend against US aggression?
Free State Project Greenland?
“…the aim was to infiltrate Greenland’s society and promote its secession from Denmark to the US…”
Don’t like 30 people live in Greenland?
President Trump has recently warmed to the idea of the U.S. providing some form of security guarantees to Ukraine after France and the U.K. proposed sending a so-called “reassurance force” to Ukraine following a peace deal to deter further attacks by Russia.
European leaders, however, are contending with the inconvenient fact that many voters are opposed to any deployment that places troops in harm’s way.
Europe – “Can’t the US just handle that too?”

Human shields.
There are more “journalists” than doctors in hospital / military bases in Gaza.
The strikes on Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza on Monday killed at least 20 people, Palestinian health authorities said, including at least five journalists, medical staff, patients and rescue workers.
What are the odds that five journalists just happened to be at the same place at the same time?

Hamas issues journalist credentials to all its members?
Probably pretty high if Hamas is placing them there.
Placing them there?
It was just a Hamas meeting.
“Reassurance force?” Like an “emotional support battalion?” “Therapy armored division?”
Tripwire, like in Korea.
Bingo!
“Article V bait?”
For the tripwire to work you have to have real forces waiting somewhere else. Most of Europe would be strained to man the tripwire force.
On the RICO thing: A pallet of bricks is delivered the night before a planned protest by local building supplier. Someone paid for that. That someone got their money from likely some NGO. The NGO got the money from some donor/donors.
At the protest one of the goons takes one brick off of that pallet and throws it. It strikes a person. Bam…attempted murder. Every single person involved in that brick being present should be charged. The only link in that chain that might have a defense is the building supplier.
Why this shit hasn’t been shut down yet is pretty obviously because no one wants it shut down.
I don’t know if RICO works or not for this. But something needs to cut this chain of bullshit. It’s been going on for close to 20 years now in a big way. Probably longer.
Just like the rest of USAID, they have raised money laundering to an art form. Layers of foundations and bank accounts. It will be a lot of work untangling that ball of yarn. Sounds like they’re trying though.
TOK: It is more a matter of will than of ability. The trail is there but I think too many people have too much to lose/gain for anyone to put forward the effort.
Bill Gates in a striped uniform would make my century.
Soros too but he will likely keel over before he faces the justice he so richly deserves.
His son won’t. And his son is not going to be as careful as his dad. Kids who follow footsteps never are as competent as the original grifters.
Tragic
Burning Man’s infamous “Orgy Dome” has been destroyed by high winds sweeping through Black Rock City in Nevada, its organizers have reported.
The Orgy Dome has operated at the festival for more than two decades and functioned as one of the event’s most recognized private spaces. Its organizers describe it as “sex-positive, consensual space for couples and moresomes”.
——-
n an Instagram post on August 24, organizers said the dome was damaged “beyond repair” by the winds.
“Our structure was destroyed by the winds yesterday,” it read. We hope to be able to offer some workshops if possible but what remains of the dome is beyond repair.”
Better bring plenty of suntan lotion.
It’s a very slow news week when Burning Man is a hot topic. Instagram-based journalism, SMDH.
As tolerant as Burners claim to be even they think single dudes are icky.
I assume there is a gay orgy dome that will accept the single guys?
Asking for a friend?
So…. a clusterfuck all the way around.

So the wind died down enough to make a campfire and roast marshmallows?

I wonder if all of the other muslim invasions of Europe were the same. The comic book version we get in the history books probably leave that part out.
It isn’t going to end well.

Guy needs to learn what the shift key does.
I keep hearing about how many “civilians” Israel has killed. Hamas isn’t a legit military, so aren’t they all civilians?
Define a legit military. Combatants aren’t civilians, at least not while under arms.
Both Hezb’allah and Hamas have uniformed military assets with a defined chain of command.
We are dealing with a culture that doesnt just excuse lying, it is the muslim’s duty to lie and deceive the infidel by any means necessary. It is encoded in their religion. Why bother listening to anything they have to say?
A lot fewer civilians than the US killed during WWII as just example of a war.
The left not only hates Jews, they refuse to accept the fact that Israel is at war. They are under no more obligation to feed and protect the enemy than the US was during its various wars.
An enemy that has no such compunction about wantonly killing civilians.
“…the rules of war…”
Keep telling yourself that.
There is one rule.
Kill enough of the enemy that he stops fighting.

Yesterday also featured a spectacle that perhaps transcended good and evil, but that was certainly striking: A three-and-a-quarter-hour televised cabinet Politburo meeting, in which the highest-ranking government officials of the world’s oldest and once greatest democracy abased themselves ridiculously before their presidential idol.
Blah blah und so weiter.
Trump is a dictator and has completely freed himself from any political or legal constraints. We know this to be true despite the sad fact that Bill Kristol has not been dragged from his bed and shipped off to a forced labor camp in the Everglades.
I am sure the GOP is reeling after Drumpenfurher drove The Bulwarkers out of the party.
This is a great example of “2 movies on 1 screen”. At what point did Biden assemble his cabinet for over three hours of updates and questions?
Holy fuck, that guy is a lot stupider than I thought he was.
Just three states? I think all truckers at this point are functionally illiterate. None of them seem to comprehend what those squiggles posted on the side of the road mean.
Leakage
A whistleblower says that a former senior DOGE official now at the Social Security Administration copied the Social Security numbers, names and birthdays of over 300 million Americans to a private section of the agency’s cloud. That private cloud environment is accessible by other former DOGE employees at the SSA and is lacking adequate security, the whistleblower claims, potentially putting an enormous amount of private information at risk to being revealed and possibly used by identity thieves.
It’s a good thing those numbers were never intended to be used for universal identification purposes.
You mean the same numbers that have been leaked in at least 3 data breach incidents over the past decade, predating DOGE?
Once they have been leaked they don’t magically go back to being secure. Ever. And they have all been leaked at one point or another.
“It’s a good thing those numbers were never intended to be used for universal identification purposes.”
They pinky swore….what do you want?
“After customer pushback and Trump pressure, Cracker Barrel pulls new logo”
Every single thing in the universe has to revolve around Trump. Also, the “pressure” he applied was getting on social media and saying, basically, “Hey Cracker Barrel, you should do this to save face.”

I don’t know what to think about this. For a whole season, I thought this was a PR stunt. I still kinda do. The nurse at the hospital yesterday said she still thinks it’s a stunt.

No. No, he is not. You turn the ringer off completely. Then your son, who texts you at 3 a.m. to show you a picture of a nouveau-riche midcentury modern building he took on a college campus because he thinks I’ve never been to one, will not get complimented for his fine taste in architecture and his thoughtfulness in sending that to you until you wake up.
You can turn those off too. Weather reports, Amber alerts, emergency whatevers—all turned off. That’s what tornado sirens are for and if you don’t know what a green sky means, you haven’t lived here long enough.

Re: Cracker Barrel in specific. Firstly, their food is disgusting. I have never had a pleasant gastronomical experience there. Secondly, their logo is too busy, but it’s also beloved, so whatever. However, I love the store. The real problem with the store is that there’s too much new stuff in it. I can go to Hobby Lobby for that shit. Put in real period-appropriate merchandise, more vintage candy (yes, even candy cigarettes even though they’re disgusting takes on disgusting Necco wafers), and repros of vintage books. There’s a whole fucking theme park (Silver Dollar City) selling this schtick.

Re: Princess Boudicca. She will either spark what needs to be done or she will fade into Memeville like the rest of all The Things That Will Spark Britain’s Men To Rise Up. Where’s the IRA when you really need ’em? Or, as Cleland said back in 1749, “his firm texture of limbs, his square shoulders, broad chest, compact hard muscles, in short a system of manliness, that might pass for no bad image of our ancient sturdy barons, whose race is now so thoroughly refined and frittered away into the more delicate and modern built frame of our pap-nerved softlings, who are as pale, as pretty, and almost as masculine as their sisters.”
Of course, Boudicca took control of the situation after her husband died, and there were no men who could or would protect her and her daughters from gang-rape, so it may be up to Britain’s women to clean up the mess when they get riled up enough.

Re: Indians, Dot. I have two local Subways and a Mr. GoodCents. I don’t eat at Mr. GoodCents, but my mother does, so I pick up that shit. Indian-run (I suspect also Indian-owned.) They make good food (apparently) and they always have it ready on time. Thumb’s up. My localist Subway is Indian-run (I suspect also Indian-owned). They make good food and they get my order right. Thumb’s up. My other Subway has all white employees and they don’t fill the orders correctly and it’s all just thrown together in a pile. Last night I DoorDashed something to someone else who gave me the wrong address. Went through HELL and back trying to sort that out with the Indian driver because he couldn’t speak English much at all.
THEN he tells me he wants more in tips because he’s driving a Mustang and it costs a lot of gas and the mixup is not his fault. Bitch, you did not just say that. It WASN’T his fault and I understood the problem, so I tipped him more, but the “Mustang” part stuck in my craw. I’m out here driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata with 180,000 miles and you’re DoorDashing in a Mustang and then bitching about your MPG?

Re: Too local. Mom’s in the hospital again with a bowel obstruction. I’m kinda pissy about this because it started Monday morning and she wouldn’t take Dulcolax and get that shit cleaned out. She called me yesterday morning. On the way there, I asked her if she had Dulcolax. She said yes, but she didn’t want to take it. Why? Because it hurts. But it hurts now. Yes. But you’d rather hurt for 24 hours and go to the hospital where you KNOW they’re going to admit you and maybe give you surgery than suffer through 12 hours of turbo-blowout? Yes.
THEN I help her undress and she’s put on AAAALLLL the underclothes (yes, even the Magic Underwear). I have asked her repeatedly FOR MY SAKE not to dress like a proper old lady going out to lunch with her girls when she’s going to the hospital where she KNOWS SHE IS GOING TO STAY. Now, I have not asked her to dress for the hospital like I do (panties, house-hoodie, flipflops), but I HAVE asked her to leave off the Magic Underwear (because she always taught me never to wear them to the doctor), bra, and socks.
Anyway she asked the ER doc if she could have solved the problem the day before with Dulcolax. He hedged his bets, natch, leaving us both unable to say “told you so.”
I wasn’t quite pissed enough for “highest levels of pissedivity,” but it took a lot of self-control to keep my voice halfway cordial.
I have no good advice for you, in this circumstance, but will still hear you out.
Aero and regs.
More to the regs. Windshield angle and hood height is all in the regs now.
Manufacturers should ignore those rules (not laws) en mass.
Same with DEF and DPF. Just quit adding that shit to trucks. Force the government to crack.
