This week only has one sign, but it’s a BIGGIE. The Moon, Mercury and Venus in harmonic balance indicating “deep, profound, change.” Good change or bad change you probably want to know. Hard to say, but it definitely involves a woman, and whatever the effect, there will be a kicker on Saturday just to emphasize what started on Monday.
Libra: 3 of Cups reversed – The downside or aftermath of excessive celebration.
Scorpio: The Devil reversed – Evil, fatality, weakness, pettiness, blindness.
Sagittarius: 2 of Wands reversed – Surprise, wonder, enchantment, emotion, trouble, fear.
Capricorn: Two of Swords reversed – Imposture, falsehood, duplicity, disloyalty, misplaced aggression.
Aquarius: 10 of Cups reversed – Just when you thought things were going so well…
Pisces: Temperance reversed – Things connected with churches, religions, sects, the priesthood, also disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.
Aries: Queen of Cups reversed – Distinguished woman but one not to be trusted; perverse woman; vice, dishonor, depravity.
Taurus: Death reversed – Inertia, sleep, lethargy, petrifaction, somnambulism; hope destroyed.
Gemini: 6 of Cups reversed – a person or event form you past makes trouble.
Cancer: Two of Cup – Love, passion, friendship, affinity, union, concord, sympathy, bargains made.
Leo: 9 of Swords reversed – Imprisonment, suspicion, doubt, reasonable fear, shame and yet — the bad things are preventing even worse things from happening.

Crank up the bass on this one.

Sagittarius: 2 of Wands reversed – Surprise, wonder, enchantment, emotion, trouble, fear.
I never saw a pig fly before…
I have my HS class reunion Friday.
You missed our ballistic pig setup a few weeks back?
Capricorn: Two of Swords reversed – Imposture, falsehood, duplicity, disloyalty, misplaced aggression
What? I thought the Vikes had a bye this week?
Virgo.
Spend all your money on a snipe hunt on one of your work trucks.
Is that what that means? I know those words, just not how he used them.
Man of business, responsibility ect.
Do all the work
Spend all of the money
Delegate the former to fools is what I’m getting from it. Based on my recent personal experience.
Imprisonment, suspicion, doubt, reasonable fear, shame and yet — the bad things are preventing even worse things from happening.
Sounds like a big ole pile of shit.
Happy go lucky protest
Across the street, the self-proclaimed frog brigade — three adults in inflatable amphibian costumes — posed for photos and bounced around in unison. A small group of counterprotesters nearby shouted, “We love you, ICE!”
Similar scenes outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building south of downtown Portland have been playing out for weeks as people protest President Donald Trump’s mass deportation efforts and the deployment of more than 200 National Guard troops to Oregon’s largest city to protect federal property.
I want the frog from Yakuza Apocalypse to make an appearance.
Brick Frog
Kabuki horseshoe circus
The absurdity of adults dancing in inflatable costumes during anti-ICE demonstrations is meant to display community joy, protesters say, and helps to dispel the Trump administration’s narrative that Portland is a crime-ridden “war zone,” a characterization local and state leaders say is false.
AKA diversionary tactics.
ICE pepper spraying one of the frogs right in the air intake is just great

What are ICE agents doing in France?
“I know, if we dress up like cartoon characters, everyone will prefer us to ICE!”
Narrator: Still no one prefers antifa over ICE.
Re football. I’m not laboring under the burden of a COMPLETELY shit team (although I’ve screamed my dissatisfaction with their sloppy playing for the last 3 years and their O-line is STILL trash), but I’ve really thought about why I’m no longer interested, and it really is the plethora of penalties and the pussification of what is supposed to be a show of gladiators.
They get paid for the use of their bodies, and to pay for their broken bodies when they can no longer play. If, by the time you’re in high school, and don’t know the risks, you aren’t paying attention. After all, there are high school pitchers getting Tommy John surgery ALREADY.
I’m just … done. It’s like seeing Carmina Burana with six intermissions at inopportune spots.
Re Overwerk, THANK YOU!!! I have written many a transitional scene to them.
I dig the “Canon” EP that someone linked a while ago.
This track is good, too.
That was me [preens]. He’s done a lot of good stuff.
Totally off topics question for Rhywun — the Austrian town of Freisach. Pronounced fry-sack, fries-ach, or ?? Any insight? I using a pipe organ sample set from a church there & it grates that I don’t know how to say the name 🙁
I would guess fry-sack, where sack rhymes with Bachhh.
FRY-zakh
Caveat: I learned standard German (Hochdeutsch), I’m not sure if any of the Austrian dialects will pronounce Freisach differently.
Two syllables: Frei-sach.
“Frei” in German would be like “fry” in English.
The “s” would probably be more like the English “z” than English “s”.
The “a” in “ach” is more like “ah” in English and the “ch” in “ach” in German is more of a gutteral sound in the back of the throat that doesn’t exist in English. Think like hocking a lugie.
Thank you all!
I was pretty confident in the ‘fry’ part (after Freiburg) but the rest was a wild-ass guess.
This could go some interesting ways…
the plethora of penalties and the pussification of what is supposed to be a show of gladiators.
I was watching something the other day about motor racing, and the guy (J R Hildebrand) tapdanced right up to the edge of saying “Motor racing is stupid and dangerous. That’s just what it is. Stop trying to pretend you can take all the risk out of it.” but then he turned back and waffled on about something else.
Hildebrand has some really good ideas. I wish he’d find a debate coach to work with him on clarifying and organizing them.
“ Cancer: Two of Cup – Love, passion, friendship, affinity, union, concord, sympathy, bargains made.”
$20. Same as downtown.
Hmmm, seems with a ‘bargain made’, you should be able to haggle that down to $10, $15 in a… pinch.
“Hmmm, seems with a ‘bargain made’, you should be able to haggle that down to $10, $15 in a… pinch.”
Na, ya wanna haggle *up.* I’m sure ya could squeeze $30-40 outta ’em. You run downtown, after all.
The pinch costs extra.
It’s complicated
Thousands — perhaps tens of thousands — of workers could lose jobs in the coming years as California tries to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. Energy company Valero said earlier this year it would close a refinery in the Bay Area.
California’s leading Democrats are grappling with how to confront lost jobs and high gas prices that the oil industry says are the result of the state’s climate policies.
State energy regulators are negotiating to keep the Valero plant open and recently backed off a proposal to penalize oil companies for high profits, while Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation to speed oil well permitting in the Central Valley. That action came after years of Newsom declaring he was “taking on big oil.”
Those people are killing the planet. They should all be begging on street corners.
Fixed.
Speed oil well permitting in this context means remove 10% of the 9001 entirely arbitrary but mandatory studies of environmental impact, gender distribution among roughnecks, and 4001signoffs by agencies, random NGOs, and native tribes with fewer than 20 members and no actual tie to the land in question except that one member of the tribe once supposedly took a leak there on the way back from butchering the long extinct actual historical residents. In order to ensure that removing that 10% of necessary safeguards they will impose 47 more mutually exclusive minority contracting requirements.
“Lost jobs and high gas prices” is the entire purpose of the project. Any noises they make otherwise is just a bluff to keep the grift going, and will disappear after the next election.
California needs a clear plan for workers who will lose jobs because of the state’s energy transition, said Faraz Rizvi, the policy and campaign manager at the Asian Pacific Environmental Network.
“We’re in solidarity with workers who have been displaced and who are looking for a relief to ensure that they’re able to find work that is important for their communities,” Rizvi said.
They can all be community organizers.
“Learn to grift”
Given how many of these assholes have contractors, plumbers, landscapers, maids, etc. that bloody well commute an hour (or more) because they can’t afford to live anywhere near these pricks… the gas price will eventually make those jobs untenable as well… and then the wailing and gnashing of teeth will ensue (only when it impacts their cushy UberEats lifestyle).
Community gardeners and share the produce with the unemployed. Just like State Farm,
Week three and first pay period without funds behind it.
So you’ll trip over a magic lamp, have a cool first wish… then trigger the apocalypse with the second or third….
At least, that’s my plan for this horoscope…. Choose! Choose the form of y’all’s Destructor! (And no.. Stay Puft has been done, dangnabbit…)
A couple weeks ago I shared some fun I was having with an Amazon third party seller. Here’s an update.
To recap, ordered an item from Amazon at a good price, turns out it was through a third party seller (which didn’t bother me because I’ve heard of the company), item shipped to New Jersey, then to Ohio, then an “unable to deliver” exception was generated in New Jersey. Amazon wouldn’t refund me because it had already been shipped, FedEx is useless for updates. Messaged the seller, they opened a ticket with FedEx, FedEx closed the ticket after a few days with no updates. Messaged the seller again to find out what was going on.
Final resolution: Seller didn’t really respond but did refund the money. Package still lost.
Epilogue: A day after they refunded my money, the item was again available at the reduced price. From the same third-party seller. I ordered it again. This time it’s shipping from Miami.
In the meantime, I bought another item from Amazon which turned out to be from a third party seller. When it arrived the box was unsealed and was obviously a return. When I actually opened it there was a heavily used older version of the item, not the current version, so apparently some asshole did a swap and return to get themselves a free update. Now I have to drive to Whole Foods to return it. Unfortunately, I told Mrs. Parnell about this and now I have a shopping list for Whole Foods.
And as long as I’m ranting, there’s an Amazon Fresh store about a mile from my house, you’d think I could return an Amazon package there, but no, I have to drive way the hell out of my way to Whole Foods.
drive way the hell out of my way to Whole Foods.
Local Whole Paycheck had a couple of taps with local beers and you could grab a pint and sit for a spell or bring it with you as you drain your bank account. Sounds like you might need something like that if they have it. Lemons/lemonade?
They do have that, however I’m overly strict about not drinking and driving, so I’d need to bring Mrs. Parnell along to drive home afterwards, at which point it’s a family trip to Whole Foods which will deviate heavily from the original shopping list and be at least three times as expensive.
Avatar checks out.
I’m having my own issues with Amazon. Or Kohls. Or both.
In order to have free returns, I have to take my returns to Kohls, which is very near me, or Staples, which is not. I get a QR code for Kohls to scan, they put it in a big box, and I get a credit on my account. Last week was the SECOND time an item hasn’t been scanned in and I lose the money. The first time it happened, it was too late for me to do anything, so I let it go. This time, no.
Called yesterday and got an Indian rep who couldn’t seem to understand the actual problem (he assumed, stopped listening, and talked over me) until halfway through the conversation. He made a note and told me to call back on X date.
Honestly, I wish Amazon had a competitor, but they don’t, and I try to be careful of third-party sellers.
We drop our Amazon returns at The UPS store.
It’s still about 12 miles from the house. Make a trip by there once a month or so.
A lot of times I have some miss ordered part or widget I screwed up on that I won’t bother returning as it’s not worth my time or fuel. I throw it in a parts bin and maybe some day I’ll need that weird electrical adaptor or clamp or whatever I ordered that I didn’t use.
I’m re-fitting some florescent fixtures with LED, throwing away perfectly good xformers and tubes.
Taurus: Death reversed – Inertia, sleep, lethargy, petrifaction, somnambulism; hope destroyed — Daaaaamn. Can’t get no break. Like the chest presses they use to ‘extract’ confessions out of heretics, enough ‘controlled’ pain to ensure you stayed alive to truly understand the shit you’re in. I s’pose it’s better than Hank Scorpio’s, up there. (That era, Season 9 or so, were the dying and last glimmers of the Simpsons still being mostly great.)
Giles Corey’s a guy at Salem who was tortured with this. His “MORE WEIGHT!” last words may be the most badass of a man knowingly about to die. +Not-putting-up w your bullshit. My closest equivalent: When I was rarely spanked growing up, I’d bark back “DOESN’T HURT!” I’m *real* glad I didn’t get a ‘I’ll show ya something that hurts!’ type of response.
“Inertia, sleep, lethargy, petrifaction, somnambulism”
Nah, that just means you’re due to visit the Hammock District (that’s on Third).
Can’t remember who the Penn State fan is here but they just canned their coach. Looks like he gets a $49m payout.
There are so many jobs I don’t understand the contract negotiations for… I can fuck up your organization for only a couple of million, companies / schools! No need to spend so much…
He’ll be crying all the way to the he bank. Has any other college team ever fallen from #2 pre season to Patsy after 6 games?
I survived our 24 hour fundraiser in the gym. I think we only made a few hundred for our charity, which was an organization that supports foster kids. Five of us stayed the whole night, doing 24 workouts on the hour. They were 5-15 minutes long, but they added up quick. This time we did each workout, and immediately attempted to sleep. That actually worked pretty well, we were all tired and beat up in the morning, but didn’t have that feeling of staying up all night. I’m sure I’ll feel it more tomorrow morning.
Congratulations!
Watching videos of the CA helicopter crash. BA was right.
Does he potty those fools?
Look, I’m not one to crap on anyone else’s kink, but jeez.
You’re confusing Mr. T with Mr. R. (Kelly).
Obviously my typo outs me as a racist! for thinking all ‘those’ people look the same.
That was BM, his lesser known cousin who started a quite different movement.
Late to the party.
It is pretty obvious that the no.1 question people want answered about the future is “Am I gonna get laid?”
*sigh*
Biological imperative #1, genes must outlive me.
All signs point to “no”.
Is it a question if you already know the answer?
I’m at church. I can never remember names and faces. I mean, yes, all [insert race here] look alike, but fuck me, so do the blondes. Brunettes are easier to remember, but only marginally.
After a couple of years on an army base I was able to tell if some guys wife was northern or southern German and the handful of Swedes started to look different.
Anyone that tells you there are not multiple races of ‘white’ are lying to you. Outside of the U.S. people still care about that.
It is like telling the difference between Japanese people, Chinese, or Korean.
They all look different.
Mrs F says all Caucasians look the same.
