The Cubs stayed alive. The Phillies stayed alive. The Tigers knotted up their series. And it’s “Yankee Go Home” in the remaining series. The only down side to that is that a bunch of flappy-head fans are happy. Oh well, hopefully the winner of the Seattle-Detroit game 5 can take them out in the ALCS. WC Qualifiers in Europe get back underway today. And I guess that’s about it for sports. Moving on…
This is how it’s done. Too bad farty Congressmen from California can’t get the same treatment.
Wait, it’s just growing now? Gee, I’d have thought it would have grown while Antifa put a federal building under siege for the last several years.
Hopefully it’ll last. At least long enough to get the remaining hostages back. Then I hope they find and kill every single member of Hamas.
Wait, does the Daily Mail think this “land grab” covers a lot of territory? Shit, I guess they’ve never heard of King Ranch. Or a hundred other ranches that cover way more acreage than Musk will ever be able to acquire.
What a nice lady. She’s the perfect face for the Dem Party in California. Hell, maybe for the entire national party, for that matter.
This is kind of stupid. Especially since it’s literally a burger made out of veggie material. But their priorities over there are pretty retarded, so I see why they’re doing it.
How about…no. You don’t like them, then don’t use them. And leave the rest of us alone.
Holy false equivalence, Batman! Every term this woman gets dumber and dumber.
Speaking of the Supreme Court, this case could be a doozy. It will definitely be interesting to see this one unfold. And yes, I’m looking forward to the retarded series of questions from the aforementioned Justice.
What an asshole. If this is true, I hope they throw the book at him.
Here’s a lovely track. One of the best covers of all time, IMO. Although this might be an even better cover. Enjoy them both.
And enjoy this lovely Thursday, dear friends.

I have to go make cofeee.
Enjoy your covfefe.
I have no tea. I can’t drop it.
At least it should be mostly harmless.
Once you remove your common sense, then you can hold tea and no tea at the same time.
So, nought tea.
I’ve heard of low T, but no T?
*Wonders where the Infocom box containing pocket fluff is*
Not Adahn:
Always looking for those feelies…
Long enough for Hamas to re-arm and stall on any hostages is my expectation. We’ll see… it’d certainly be nice to be pleasantly surprised… but really, really low odds.
Like I said in dedthread there needs to be FAFO clause.
I think Nettingyahoo promised as much but it would have to be at the risk of condemnation from the rest of the world. At this point I think it’s fair to tell the rest of the world to go fuck themselves unless and until their states are under threat of extinction.
The VRA is a bloated mess that needs to be put out of our misery.
Don’t be racist. Also you need to ensure a particular race is elected.
Fuck that noise, they want to be elected, they can run good candidates.
Only someone who looks like me can represent me. Also vote blue no matter who.
@ UCS – You mean articulate and clean and bright?
No, I mean not fucking nuts/evil.
Clearly unconstitutional.
As is the vast majority of the Civil Rights era anti liberty bills.
Looking at you CRA.
Its the Brits — anything bigger than a postage stamp is a huge distance.
That it? That’s not even ten square miles.
How many square miles does the British Royal family own?
Used to be a lot, then they let India go.
Nothing they do is square. The House of Guelph is crooked in their soul.
Only governments and tribes can perform land grabs.
Companies and individuals have to buy land in the market.
Now do Bill Gates’ land acquisitions over the last 15 years.
As I said many times over the past week, “I’m from America, where 100 years is a long time. This is England, where you guys think 100 miles is a long distance.”
Explaining to a couple of them that I had ridden a bike 75 miles (and lots of people ride centuries) led to them to call me mad. Explaining that most of our states are bigger than their entire country boggled them.
100 miles is a day trip. I drive it each way to visit my mother.
Many are larger, not most. (sorry feeling pedantic)
The europoors are used to living on postage stamps allotted by their lords.
100 miles is an incredible distance to anyone in Europe, while a 100 years is an incredible time to anyone in the states.
But, seriously, I didn’t hear them bitch about the land grabs around the Bay Area when someone wanted to build a 15 minute city. Or when the owner of Esprit Clothing bought massive chunks of Chile, and I am sure there have been other instances like this they turn a blind eye towards.
Curses, foiled again.
Don’t worry, it’s just the propigation delay from crossing the country.
Also, consider that Starbase is necessarily huge because of the need to keep things that can go boom as far away as possible from people and things, that much of that facility is marshland, etc. He’s damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t.
How much land did Disney “grab” in Florida?
Entire county.
Then The state screwed them reneging on their deal.
Any other state I’d think she was done. But this is the voter base that sent proven lying asshole Schiff up the chain to the Senate… so damned if I know.
One of the Townhall sites had an interesting speculation on the timing — the Lt. Gov and some other higher placed Dem recently bowed out… and supposedly Padilla is interested in the governorship.. the speculation is that his people timed the links to sink this idiot, he steps in and gets the governorship and appoints Hair Gel to his vacant seat, giving him the national exposure. Presumably all with the blessing of the Sacramento Machine and all. I could see it happening… not that I really think Hair Gel (or this idiot or Padilla) would actually have a chance on the national stage… they all have the competence and personal charm of Kamala, after all.
I don’t think this will hurt her at all. They’ll play the ” if a man talked like this nobody would care” card and enough of the base will agree with that ridiculous claim. And if she can escape the primary with a Republican getting on the ticket with her, she’ll stroll to a win. If it’s two Dems in the general, they’ll play the “time to elect our first female governor ” card and probably still win.
Hair Gel is much better than Kamala at looking good for the cameras and not sounding like an obvious idiot.
That is a bar too low to limbo.
I’m loving this story. She’s obviously a terrible person but the utter arrogance on display is beyond belief. “How dare you ask me a slightly uncomfortable question!”
“I want this to be a pleasant experience” was what made me really roll my eyes.
She’s like the Bill O’Reilly of chicks.
I don’t know about the whole idea about making Newsom a Senator, but this does definitely look like something that one of her opponents is putting out, and it’s most likely a Democrat.
Nah, antifa is there because the people there like antifa. The feds going to Portland to stop antifa is like the feds going to Mississippi to stop the Klan — it’s outsiders coming in to beat down part of the community.
Imagine my surprise that CBS is repeating Democratic Party talking points and blaming the “anxiety” on Trump.
In Portland, the anxiety is over Trump.
My favorite talking point is “it is just one block that is taken over by antifa”.
Right up there with “just a few buildings taken over by gangs” in CO.
And “mostly peaceful protests”.
Meanwhile businesses are fleeing and nobody wants to go anywhere near there because it’s full of commie ratfuckers going back and forth to that “one block”.
How many in Portland actually support Antifa, and how many are afraid to say anything out of fear for their personal safety? Probably a lot of both.
I’m sure Roberts will find a way to punt. Way too controversial for him to want to have anything to do with it.
It is not controvertial to say that the best way to stop racial discrimination is to stop discriminating by race, and so such data has no place in districting maps.
It shouldn’t be — but be honest… in today’s political clime, it actually is. Probably 40 percent of the country fervently believes in “positive discrimination” or “anti-racism” after all.
“The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” – John Roberts
Still expect him to punt if he can.
Roberts wants a political solution to this, no matter that his damn job is to decide things like this.
Go the O’Conner route on racist admission policies? “It’s unconstitutional but we aren’t yet ready to eliminate it.”
That sounds like a possibility.
I could see them saying “for the redistricting after the next census, no more of this nonsense”. Can kicked, but not far, and its tied to a routine redistricting.
I tapped out of the Guardian article after a couple of their typically mendacious sentences. “Gutting voting rights!” my ass. They and everyone else that supports that racist shit can go fuck yourselves.
“Musk’s companies own over 500 properties covering 6,000 acres across the Lone Star State”
Oh, come on. There are dozens of ranches in Texas that are bigger than that, under one fence. Ted turner owns one ranch in New Mexico that is 100 times (not a typo) bigger than that, and owns other ranches that much bigger than that. There’s a ranch outside my hometown that is almost 90 times bigger than that.
For reference. 6,000 acres is about 9 and 1/3 square miles. I’m honestly surprised SpaceX doesn’t take up more room than that.
There are larger property owners in my county in Idaho.
Sadly two of them are a tribe and the state. Only Boyer Farms and Idaho Forrest group are private.
I’ve hunted on properties well over 20x that size in WY.
Sorry for the slightly early OT. Absolutely no surprise here:
WASHINGTON—Senate Majority Leader John Thune and other senior GOP lawmakers have quietly advised the White House not to move forward with mass layoffs and sharp cuts to government assistance programs as the shutdown enters its second week, according to people familiar with the matter.

Or else what? They’re gonna cave and agree to pay for health care for illegals?
Yes, probably.
For the acolyte of the Turtle? That frankly wouldn’t surprise me… “We might actually get something done our voters want?!? Quick — give the other side more than they were wanting!”
Just you wait. Throw the bums out. We’ll get rid of these no good lifers in a democratic way in the next election. You’ll see. Power to the people.!
/Reason I haven’t voted in 40 years.
Wouldn’t healthcare for illegals have to go back to the House? Now, the Repub House is perfectly capable of caving, and has a long history of doing so, but that issue is pretty toxic to the people a lot of them need for re-election.
The polls are running pro-shutdown at this point. Other than inside-the-beltway, there’s no groundswell for ending it.
I think you underestimate the powers of “Reconciliation” RC… they shove through stuff you wouldn’t think they should be able to all the time that way.
“EU lawmakers voted on Wednesday to ban the use of the term “veggie-burger” and limit food descriptions such as steak, escalope and sausage to products containing meat, part of a proposed EU law to protect farmers.”
A burger can be anything.
Including being really against toymakers to the King.
Or is that just reserved for Burgermeisters?
Only burgers from the US can be called burgers. Euros must call them sparkling sandwiches or something.
Except in the city of Hamburg, where they must be called coneys.
Rabbit burgers are too dry.
you’re supposed to add fats from other animals.
Sheesh, don’t you people cook?
And burgers from Frankfurt must be called hot dogs.
I have read (but have never been there so cannot confirm) that hot dogs are called “wieners” in Frankfurt and “frankfurters” in Vienna.
Nobody wants to take credit for them. This must mean something.
How about this – The EU sucks on a shotgun barrel. The garbage it has promulgated goes away, the foreigners it invited in are expelled, and the Euro is deleted as a currency.
And you get a flying unicorn, UCS. Don’t forget that.
That would be an Alicorn, SDF.
…are you sure? ISTR the DMG (or some other rulebook) telling me that “alicorn” was the proper name for a unicorn’s horn.
And here I thought it was just a horny Pegasus.
You’re thinking of Narwhal, NA.
You can’t fool me, a narwal doesn’t have cloven hooves.
UCS is a Brony!
Entertainingly, an Indian co-worker told of his confusion when he first came to the US. Being Hindu, no beef. But a turkey burger is made of turkey, so he ordered a cheese burger, expecting it to be made of cheese.
He did admit it was really good.
How was his hamburger?

I Thought I Could Drive Stick. Then My Gen Z Daughter Asked Me to Teach Her.
https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/cars/i-thought-i-could-drive-stick-then-my-gen-z-daughter-asked-me-to-teach-her-1dc03293?st=FiqdA5&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
So I booked a lesson with Persaud. I’d found him through Stick Shift Driving Academy, a nationwide network of instructors who, in their spare time, sacrifice their cars—and clutches—to novices
I can get by in a pinch but I haven’t driven a stick in decades.
I did learn in a hilly area, so I’ve got that going for me.
#metoo and I hated every second of it.
I still don’t understand the obsession with thinking you’re flexing nuts by knowing how to drive a manual. And I do know, I just don’t think it is that interesting or makes me unique in any way.
Basic economics.
Useful + Rarity = Value
Three on the tree is where it’s at.
I haven’t had a manual since ’09 or so. However, one of the few new cars on the market that interests me is the Jetta GLI with a manual.
I just got my oldest son going on a dirt bike with a clutch. His little bro got the smaller bike with the foot shifter with no clutch. He’s not driving license age yet. I was surprised he picked it up so quickly, within 15 minutes he pretty much had it. With off road motorcycles you really lean into clutch control, as it doesn’t just help shift gears, but functions as a power control for your rear wheel.
I hate manual transmissions.

Is Mojo involved with this? SugarFree should write a review of Morning Glory Milking Farm.
You do you. Leave me out of it.
I mean, that’s kind of the point, no?
SF used it in his writing. Shoe claims to have read the entire thing.
But her explanation of “normal rape fantasies without the political baggage of wanting to fuck men” makes sense.
I thought her subtle touch of changing to the cow onesie at the end with no comment was pretty funny. (Watched it last night)
Did find the point of “romantasy” book store sections being like Walmart having a PornHub display front and center fairly apt.
“Normal
Rape fantasies”
No. That’s not normal.
Have you looked at the Walmart book section recently?
Especially the ones targeting adolescents.
Gay porn.
Maybe not ‘normal’, but *VERY* common.
So common the ones who don’t have that fantasy are unusual.
I ain’t watching a half-hour video.
It’s entertaining if you like her schtick.
Because you people kept bringing it up I began asking questions – then inventing answers that allows me to avoid even looking at the book.
Q) Why would they need an operation to extract from bull minotaurs?
A) clearly they’re supplying the material to dairies to keep cow minotaurs pregnant and producing milk.
Q) Why would there be enough demand for cow minotaur milk to need that much?
A) It’s the main ingredient in a cheese popular among the nobility. Costly and wasteful, just the way the aristocracy likes it.
Q) What do they do with the excess males from the dairies?
A) There is a local bullfighting culture that needs a constant supply of bovine gladiators.
Why yes, I did think mostly about the economics of it.
Shoeonhead answered the first two. They use minotaur spooge to make viagra for humans.
Oh it is worse — Shoe actually mentions the reason in the video… apparently minotaur semen is better than Viagra… (I assume because the bulls are just such embodiments of Masculine Power or something), so she’s “harvesting” so it can be sold to all the wimpy simps that she can’t be bothered with.
To be honest, I didn’t want to know the author’s answer. Taking the one-line description and extrapolating was much more interesting.
Some people really let their freak flag fly high.
I watched the video and was not saddened by those fantasists taking themselves out of the “potential for banging” pool. Unlike Portia de Rossi (back in the day).
Interesting seeing what cracks keep happening in various “green” initiatives.

Yeah, the whole scam is falling apart in real time. It’s glorious to watch. Disgusted at the billions (trillions?) wasted on it, though.
Federal Government REDACTED Shutdown – Day 8 or 9, who cares anymore.
In an attempt to conjure some normalcy, or rather, another Thursday, I resurrected “5 Things I Did This Week”. It will go nowhere, as before, but maybe will have more purpose.
Donation efforts remain sporadic. Apparently, the nation cannot yet comprehend the deprivation we endure.
Offers of pizza were made, though I suspect they will arrive as deep dish with pineapple; or worse, as memes of deep dish with pineapple.
I will print them out and eat the memes on principle. You cannot break me.
Murmurs from furloughed peers have begun to trickle in.
They say they “feared Congress might actually do something.” Their message concluded with: “We hope not. We are in Cancun.”
I hate them.
I also envy their tan lines.
On a triumphant note, I have successfully claimed my land in the great Office Migration of 2025.
I should feel proud. I should feel accomplished. But it was already my office. I need to rethink my choices.

“A county in California wine country is beefing up its vaccine recommendations and instituting a mask mandate, citing “greater risk” of contracting COVID-19 amid the start of the annual flu season.
The Sonoma County Department of Public Health’s Interim Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith issued an order Monday requiring anyone entering certain healthcare facilities in the county to wear a mask.”
https://nypost.com/2025/10/09/us-news/mask-mandates-return-in-wealthy-blue-state-county-leaders-cite-risk-of-covid-and-up-vaccine-recommendations/
No.
It’s just certain healthcare facilities but it’s still stupid and can still be expanded at will of the literal Karen that’s in charge. Some people are never going to get over the covid bullshit it seems.
I have a customer that has a car and lives in an apartment. The car is literally only driven by me once per year since 2020 at the end of September long enough to drive cycle it (since the battery has been dead since sitting for a full year) for inspection and then going and getting it inspected. I am doing this “till the pandemic is over”. She’s like that Japanese soldier on Gilligan’s Island that doesn’t know WWII is over.
I had my appendix out in 2022, so masks were still required in healthcare facilities. I’m hunched over in pain, trying to sign in at the emergency room and the lady at the desk tells me she can’t check me in until I put a mask on.
Halloween 2022 I was refused service at an ER with an open bleeding wound for not wearing a mask.
By a non mask wearing Karen. She put one on when I came back in to take a picture of her.
Formal complaint went no where.
I will never spend another dime at Tri State Memorial hospital in clarkston Washington. The hospital where I was born.

“A spirited South Carolina couple is pleading with their neighbors to stop calling 911 over their elaborate Halloween decoration that makes their home appear as if it’s engulfed in flames….
The display is equipped with lights that appear as orange, glowing flames in every window of the home and is accompanied by a thick cloud of smoke billowing out from under the porch….
Fountain Inn Fire Chief Russell Alexander said that when the display first went up, the fire department received about 30 calls in October regarding the house….
It’s bad practice to not send a truck and, ethically, I can’t take that liability,” Alexander shared. “If we get a call, we’re sending a truck, no matter what.””
https://nypost.com/2025/10/09/us-news/south-carolina-couples-elaborate-halloween-display-sparks-911-calls-believing-their-home-is-on-fire/
Seems a bit much.
How about you stop making your neighbors think your house is on fire – otherwise you might get a case of “cried wolf” when those chinese lights set fire to your house.
This. Maybe the “fun” isn’t worth the hassle at some point. Perhaps when the bill for 30 calls to the fire department comes due.
I don’t know, they didn’t call 911, so why should they have to pay?
Why should they have to pay?
It’s a foreseeable consequence of their actions that imposes costs on others, that’s why.
You can say the same thing about open carry and people calling the cops over it.
Hell, you can do it with concealed carry also, if’n someone sees the gun.
I hope the Kentucky man arrested for his Halloween effigy display and charged with a criminal complaint sues the fuck out of the city.
Id just walk into court with the picture of Kathy Griffen holding a fake Trump head.
It’s bad practice to not send a truck and, ethically, I can’t take that liability,” Alexander shared. “If we get a call, we’re sending a truck, no matter what.””
Wait, now they do that? Oh, it’s South CAROLINA, not Southern California.
The fire department might respond to all the calls, but people might stop calling. Then once it does burn down…
They send a truck because they get more budget for next year based on how many calls they go on.
Privatize the fire department.
Yeah, “It’s my property, I can do whatever I want on it” sounds good until you get one of those neighbors.
After the first few calls, they should have been informed they would be billed for any more calls.
If they’re out to that property often, they should be on a first-name/exchange cell number basis to know if there’s actually an emergency or not.
Ignore them.
Build a fence.
Look the other way.
Buy them out.
Move.
Those are your options.

Fire guys are not that smart.
The more calls they go in the larger budget they get.

I bet a couple hundred gallons of high pressure water can solve the dilemma.
Our Boomer generation. Climb that ladder and be sure to pull it up after.
Which leaves millennials struggling to afford a home of any kind. Gone are the 1970s, when an average home could be secured for about $26,300 against an annual household income of $9,870. Today’s latest data shows that the annual household income is $83,730 and the average home costs $410,800.
https://www.wsj.com/opinion/the-case-against-30-year-mortgages-0cbd6d56?st=MycBQy&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
Loosen up building codes and terminate the what amounts to subsidies that allow large conglomerates to come in and basically pay full price when a house pops up on the market. There, problem solved.
Building codes and oppressive zoning are exactly what the Boomers did after they made the house the wanted and didn’t want noisy neighbors and houses blocking their view.
One side wants the poors nowhere near them and the other side wants the poors dependent on government housing.
No side that matters wants actual affordable housing and therefore no actual affordable housing will be built.
I suspect the Venn diagram of those two sides has significant overlap.
Don’t forget to kick out 20,000,000 illegals and their anchor babies.
That frees up a lot or real estate.
The housing market never fully recovered after ‘08. The getting was fairly good for a few years, but now the market is less affordable than ever.
Maybe infinite immigration, easy finance, infinite regulation, high inflation, companies exploiting slave labor in a “global economy”, and the corporatization of landlords has had an impact on the housing market. Who knew?
Didn’t even consider the immigration but that’s certainly a big factor too, especially on the lower end houses that first time buyers tend to purchase.
Immigration puts the same pressure on the market as Cash for Clunkers did.
I mentioned this last week, but a basic house built in the 70’s wasn’t nearly as big or luxurious as a house today. Was there any tile in that 70’s house? Air conditioning? Dishwasher?
My parents bought the house they live in now in 1971. It started with 1 dishwasher (mom), but ended up with 8 (mom +7 kids). Sometime in the 80s dad relented and installed one of those new fangled ones. We got central air in ’89. I have vague memories of a laundry mangle and wash tubs as a kid. T post and clothesline for drying out of doors that gave way to a washer and dryer. No tile but plenty of woodworking as was the style when the house was built in the 1920s. Also, we shared one full bath. A half bath was added eventually in the late 70s/early 80s. I remember being the last house to get a microwave.
I’m sure it’s not all of it, but that is definitely one of the factors. We also have those Biden price increases which aren’t going anywhere, so building is still much more expensive than it was 10 years ago.
Eww. You expect me to live in a house without granite countertops, wood floors, and spa showers?
I wouldn’t know where to begin, but it would be fun if someone spec’d out a “typical” house from the 1970’s from blueprints, with the same types of appliances, flooring, etc. from the time, and see how much that would cost to build.
TOK – it really depends on where in the country.
I live in house almost completely unchanged from when it was built in 1929. The reason it worth almost 2X the average is because of it’s location. It’s the land that has the value and not the structure.
You can thank NJ for the scarcity and the inability to build.
My cousin lives in a house that is half the size on half the lot at more than twice the value because of the location.
Sure. Price a house in SF vs. Pittsburg. Many are the same size, but there is a 10x price diff.
Sure. Price a house in SF vs. Pittsburg. Many are the same size, but there is a 10x price diff.
Pittsburg is not as cheap as you think, though you do get mountain views or lakefront.
lol I was expecting Pittsburg, Calif.
Probably not much cheaper than SF.
Here’s a modern 3/2 with garage for $25k.
https://overmanbuildings.com/house-kit-20/
Of course, you’ll need land, concrete, and finishes, so add a few hundred grand to that.
I follow Pittsburg housing, and there is a lot of stock, not free, but vastly cheaper than a coastal city.
There is no way a new 1200 sq ft house in 1975 was selling for 26k. I grew up near the pope and they were going for about 45k on the low end.
They’re banning nonstick pans now? But cleaning the remnants of a fried egg out of a regular pan, cast iron at least, is a big pain in the ass. I’ll be only too happy to shoulder the (likely minimal) risks, thankyouverymuch.
Have you thought about poaching in boiling tallow?
Isn’t that just deep frying?
Well, yes, but he will have a fried egg at the end.
Cast is the way to go.
Fat is good.
Properly seasoned carbon steel is the way to go if nonstick isn’t available. As long as you can get one I’ll still use non-stick, however.
Time before someone creates a sprayon fry-pan coating will be short.
Time before someone creates a sprayon fry-pan coating will be short.
This not only already exists, it exists in every flavor of fat ranging from the most artificial up to actual duck fat.
I regularly use the butter-flavored one.
Yup I agree. I moved over to carbon steel for my egg pan and really love it. It’s great for veggies as well. Meats (with the exception of breakfast meats) go on my cast iron or the grill.
My stainless steel pan took 15 seconds to clean after making fried eggs this morning.
My nonstick pans are stickier than my stainless pans at this point.
That said, ceramic coated stainless is where we’re going when the nonsticks finally get tossed out.
We’ve been completely sold on thr HexClad. 3 years on and just as good as the day we bought em. Though, I have other pans for different styles of cooking.
I have cast iron ceramic pans, in 10″. Still nothing beats my 12″ non-stick for preparing breakfast for everyone quickly. Buy those little rubber coasters to put in-between pans for storage so you don’t get chips is my advice.
Back in the mind ’90s I bought some Calphalon Commerical Nonstick since they were the only mass market brand that warrantied the coatings. It has become time to get the replaced under warranty. Calphalon has been bought in the meantime and the new company has made it onerous to file a claim. We will see if it’s honored or if they go on the “never buy from again” list.
You’d think after a few generations of nonstick cookware being in common use, the health effects would be obvious, were there any.
TEFLON CAUSES AUTISM!!!!!!!1111!!!11!!!
In seriousness, I don’t like any cooking implement that flakes substantial amounts of itself into my food and can’t be used with half my utensils.
Trashy on point.
And can’t go in the dishwasher.

Yea screw that. Health effects or not, I’m not paying extra for a “nonstick” that will slowly turn into a regular stainless steel. I’ll stick with my cast iron.
If you’re fried eggs leave a mess in your cast iron pan, it’s not seasoned right and/or you aren’t putting/leaving enough bacon grease in the pan.
I use olive oil but point taken.
All cast iron should be melted down and turned into industrial fixtures.
That shit is gross and dirty.
Here we go again.
These are not remotely similar phenomena, Slate. Your and the rest of the left’s attempts to make them so will fail. How many more broken lives are you going to be responsible for?
But Jumanji Jackson said they were the same, and she doesn’t even know what a woman is, she is so morally advanced!

“Your favorite bra brand from middle school is bringing “sexy” back. You’re not gonna like the reason why…..
I hate to be the person who always brings up Donald Trump in conversations about thongs, but it’s no coincidence that the end of Victoria’s Secret’s brief period of soft-touch sexuality has come at this precise moment. The past few years in fashion have heralded a return to both traditional femininity (ruffles, ballet flats) and shameless sexiness (clothing with cutouts), a two-pronged trend that has only accelerated during Trump 2.0.
A partial referendum on the feminist triumphs and atmosphere of sexual caution of the #MeToo era, the new mode is also visible in the so-called Mar-a-Lago face adopted by women in the MAGA extended universe, which wears its garish makeup and medi-spa modifications as points of pride. Taut and filler-plumped, the Mar-a-Lago face somewhat resembles a push-up bra itself. Trump is concocting a world that rewards unabashedly manufactured caricatures of femininity. Who better to capitalize on the moment than a company that has, for generations, made the straight-faced argument that the sexiest thing in the world is a stiff, sculpted undergarment that hides our softest body parts behind a forbidding wall of foam?”
https://slate.com/life/2025/10/donald-trump-underwear-bras-victorias-secret-show-2025.html
Perfectly sane analysis.
When I have seen pics of soi-disant Mar-a-Lago face, it looks exactly like what the affluent middle-aged women were doing in Dallas nearly 20 years ago. The practiced eye could nearly sort them by who their plastic surgeon was.
This was linked last night and discussed to the point that it needs another facelift.
Drugs are falling out of an ass that NA finds incredibly shapely.
Alicia is NOT involved in any way with Mar-A-Lago.
And because of her age, she was more into Fredericks of Hollywood than VS.

Does my Mini Cooper (2013 off the top of my head) count?
Depends if it is a stick shift and/or John Cooper Works. 😉
Are the turn signals still pristine?
“Are the turn signals still pristine?”
They are a subscription service that nobody bothers with.
Sensei:
Not a stick, and not even an S badging.
(((Jarflax:
I use them frequently. When I first got the car, there was a forum. From what I read, the previous model of Mini had only a single turn signal indicator on the dash (instead of one pointing left and the other pointing right). Lots of drivers mentioned that passengers would ask, “How do you know which way you’re turning?”
/facepalm
And all those passengers vote
They still make a couple models I wouldn’t mind having and you can still get sticks in (some of) them. Not quite worth the $$$ though.
You can still get a Toyota Tacoma in stick. I almost did in 2020 but they only had it for the short bed 4WD and the long bed was more important to me. I dig the way Toyota manuals feel to drive.
I’m going to be truck shopping early next year but the Tacomas all have turbocharged engines now. If I could get a stick with a V6 or even a nonturbo four I’d be all over it but it looks like it’ll probably be a Nissan.
Stinkey, I have had a couple of the Frontiers (2010 and 2018) both stick and auto, but both with the V6. Damn good trucks, and you don’t have to pay the Toyota tax, which is nice.
👍 Love that track
Not a single tuba in either of those tracks. You’re slipping, Sloopy.

Wyoming library director fired amid book dispute reaches $700,000 settlement

I dispute NBC’s claims that there was a violation of the fired individual’s first amendment rights.
You are a public employee in the course of your official duties – you have no first amendment rights. The public did not want your trash. You’re fired.
They should tax her $2mil.
When the government is acting as employer it can restrict speech at work, on the clock, or when you are representing them. A government may choose what books are available in government libraries no different than a book store can choose which books to offer for sale. Your rights aren’t violated when what you want isn’t available.
And permanently bar her form any government employ.

The following is why I am definitely not a libertarian and would start the greatest genocide the world ever witnessed were I given a nuclear arsenal.
Both regulations “work in basically the same way,” she noted, prohibiting treatments designed to change a child’s gender expression. The difference is that Tennessee aims to erase transgender identity, while Colorado seeks to affirm it. “I’m just, from a very broad perspective, concerned,” Jackson said, “about making sure that we have equivalence with respect to these things.” Does the Constitution really take sides in this battle, blessing states that discriminate against transgender youth while condemning those that protect them?
Ow, my brain.
I don’t think the government should play an active role in this shitshow, on either side. I’m sick of theatrical preening “for the children”.
Complete bullshit.
The left wants to ban counseling for gender dysphoria and instead turn more confused and likely gay kids into trannies. It is literal “grooming”.
One side wants to talk to children. The other wants to mutilate them.
Can’t breed em.
Gotta groom em.
In the process, they may insist that they are simply following neutral principles wherever they lead and will safeguard pro-LGBTQ+ speech in the future too. Don’t believe it. As this case lays bare, the court’s feints at evenhanded justice merely obscure its weaponization of constitutional liberties in service of the religious right’s agenda.
Okay. That will be quite enough.
“A Rutgers University professor who taught a course on anti-fascism was blocked from leaving the US for Spain on Wednesday night, according to media reports, hours after Donald Trump hosted a White House roundtable highlighting the impact of antifa – or “anti-fascist” – far-left activists.
Mark Bray, an historian who published the 2017 book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, and has taught courses on anti-fascism at the New Jersey university, was attempting to board a plane at Newark airport bound for Europe when he was informed at the boarding gate that the reservations for him and his family had been cancelled.”

What has been accomplished in 35 years? This is the best the FT can come up with.
“Though sometimes dismissed as a talking shop, Davos has occasionally produced results beyond networking. In 1988, it hosted a thaw in Greek-Turkish tensions when the two countries signed a peace declaration on the sidelines. In the 1990s, it facilitated economic dialogue between Shimon Peres and Arab leaders following the Oslo Accords. Bill Gates used the platform in the 2000s to launch major vaccine funding initiatives.”
The Davos set in decline: can the World Economic Forum save itself?

It’s good the WEF exists in a way, an organizational structure and regular policy initiatives makes keeping tabs on those fucks much easier. If they had good sense they’d just meet in secret and use political leverage to get what they want.
I have no doubt their most sinister plans are being plotted in secret.
God I hope not. A more wretched hive of grift and villainy is hard to find.
Anyone have thoughts about how this “ICE is an invading force” narrative is working outside the lefty faithful? Clearly it’s going to whip them into the next frenzy, but I wonder if the visuals are working on other people. Or if everyone else remembers voting to deport the people who poured over the border unchecked.
The Democratic Party has been completely skin-suited by far-left commie radicals which is how you get formerly middle-of-the-road Dems like Pritzker spouting nonsense about “iNvAsIoN!!!” They are terrified of going against the stormtroopers they foolishly allowed to take over the party.
Otherwise I don’t think the narrative is playing with average Democrat voters very much at all.
Per RCP:
Republican Favorability 40.8 (-13.1)
Democratic Favorability 33.6 (-26.2)
I don’t think people are fans of how hard core Trump is being, but they hate the D’s even more.

“A ruling filed this week from US District Judge Jeffrey Cummings has stated that ICE has violated a Biden-era consent decree that had been placed on law enforcement in the Chicago area, because he argued that the agency was “conducting warrantless arrests” of illegal immigrants. These arrests have been commonly called “collateral arrests,” or the detainment of other illegal immigrants when ICE is in pursuit of detaining who they know of that is in the country illegally. The judge ruled that there were 22 arrests that were unlawful and in violation of the consent decree. ”

This is the best Team Blue can do in NJ? They are really panicked. Given demographics they should win this rather easily, but it’s close.
Democrat numbers are in the toilet right now, and they keep shitting in the bowl with out flushing.

First thing we do, let’s kill all the aerodynamicists
The first thing you’ll probably notice about the Blackbird 66 is that, unlike nearly every top-class open-wheel racer since the 1970s, there is no front or rear wing. Instead, there is simply a safety cell that holds the driver and engine, and the look is eye-catching. But this radical design is not about style, rather it’s about creating a package that highlights the human achievement of driving a car on the absolute edge, something he says downforce is masking.
Hildebrand proposes stripping all the wings off the car, claiming that removing 20 percent of downforce would only reduce lap times by up to 1.5 percent. To counteract that, he proposes cutting weight and boosting power. In Hildebrand’s ideal world, the Blackbird is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-10, sending roughly 1250 horsepower on road courses and 850 hp on ovals to the rear wheels. The powertrain, however, isn’t the main focus of this thought experiment.
From the front, the renderings look like an early ’80s Brabham, which had no front wing. I’m sure that is intentional. Lots of mechanical grip and minimal downforce.
Go watch the Goodwood races for old F1 and F2 cars and tell me that wouldn’t be a thousand times more fun to watch. We’d have to find a whole new crop of drivers. Ferucci would probably jump at the chance to drive one. Max, too.
So open wheel NASCAR? 😉
OT – did you see that Superfast Matt managed two Bonneville records on his third go around. 1,000 and 500cc. Same motor two cylinders deactivated. It took two motors however. One of them swallowed a valve.
I’m all for that. Although, I think that the tires need a reformulation to not throw off so much crap. Oh, and throw the engine and suspension specs open. Oh, and get rid of the stupid caution rules that make them take forever and artificially keep everybody bunched up on the lead lap.
Good to see JR is up to something good. I always liked him.
and instead turn more confused and likely gay kids into trannies.
But “we” are the homophobes.
Yeah it’s very much an anti-gay thing. They are trying to convince those kids that being a ridiculous caricature of a “heterosexual” is preferable.

So factory clone. Still I’d love to have a restored example. Nobody younger than me will have clue what it is however.
So open wheel NASCAR?
At least it would be a lot more fun to watch. Right now we basically have open wheel NFL.

Oh, and throw the engine and suspension specs open.
Absolutely. Break the stranglehold of the manufacturers. Especially Dallara.

“A 64-year-old man was beaten to death on a New York City subway on Tuesday by a sword-wielding monster with at least 33 prior arrests…
According to reports, Mazariegos became angry after the unidentified victim held the subway doors open for him. The act of kindness set him off and he brutally beat the victim for more than 10 minutes.
Mazariegos repeatedly punched the victim in the face and stomped on his head more than a dozen times, according to The New York Post.
The attacker stole the victim’s wallet and took off on foot. He was later arrested in Times Square with a samurai sword.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Wednesday went after President Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), claiming a lack of support on wildfires in the Los Angeles area earlier this year.
“What I do say, is that we need to really, now — I think — call out why the president of the United States and Congress has refused to provide support to those that have been victimized by this arsonist and this devastation,” Newsom said during a press conference, referencing a recent arrest linked to the deadly Palisades Fire that struck Los Angeles in January.
“Thirty-nine billion dollars, for months and months and months, and the president of the United States has said nothing.”
In February, Newsom asked Congress to approve nearly $40 billion in aid to help the Los Angeles area recover from the fires.
I thought California was a preeminent economic powerhouse. Why would they want Trump’s filthy lucre?
They want federal money to spend on shit not related to the fire.
This. That money is going to fund more homeless camps and trannie surgeries.

Oh for the love of god please don’t be all country pop.
“Speaker of the House said he’s not interested in helping the American people that were devastated, lives torn asunder, here in Los Angeles,” Newsom said Wednesday.
“Where is the accountability in that respect? Where is the spirit that defines the best of this country, to be here for fellow Americans at the time of recovery, uncertainty?”
Was he wearing greasepaint clown tears when he said that?
Was his staff standing by with fire suppressants in case he burst into flames?
Get on your hands and knees and beg, asshole. You’ve spent your entire reign bad-mouthing half the country and now you want us to throw money at you?
