The Chiefs are reeling after losing to the once lowly Jags. The Dodgers and Brewers have both jumped out to a 2-0 series lead before their travel day, The Blue Jays will try to go up 3-0 today and the Mariners and Detroit will play knotted at 1-1. It’s a soccer international break, so Liverpool can’t lose for at least a week and a half. And that’s about all I’ve got for sports.
This should be a slam dunk case. Well, it is, so long as the First Amendment is still a thing. Although I’d like the state to try and “scientifically discredit.” as the story claims, that telling as biological male child that he is, in fact, a boy. That would be pretty fun to hear the response to.
Get a load of this fucking guy. The private sector is carrying the weight NASA and the rest of the world couldn’t pull for the last two decades. They were just kind enough to let NASA slap their logo on some payloads.
I wonder if Pritzker will appoint this guy to a government role. At this point, not even that would surprise me.
Get that guy a pair of bracelets. Preferably some tight ones. And do the same for his underlings.
That was a quick surrender. Even by French standards.
This should surprise exactly zero people. Unless, of course, they’ve been living under a rock for the last dozen or so years.
It’s time to end the liability waiver. For both the drugmaker and the federal officials who pushed them on everybody with knowledge of this.
“You can always quit.” That’s what principled people would do. Or those unqualified to simply report actual news rather to inject their woke bullshit into every single story they claim to just be reporting on.
Damn, dude. What were you thinking? I mean, I get wanting to bury your competition. But not in a snowbank after having them shot.
Get a load of these nerds. I guess they have a right to ban him, so long as the terms of participating were made clear (which isn’t necessarily the case based on what I’ve seen). But it’s still a cowardly look. Especially since, you know, Hamas brought that shit on themselves.
These guys rock. But you already knew that. But I’m gonna reinforce that point with this track. Enjoy them both.
And enjoy this lovely Tuesday, dear friends.

Like I said yesterday, they are being dishonest about what “conversion therapy” means.
“We’re not biologists — we can’t say, nor can the state, what a boy really is!”
(Note: I don’t think the majority of the Nazgul are that insane at this point — but I wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘Vote Blue no Matter Who’ contingent of the Court tried that)
An inevitable result of the transactivists latching themselves to the gay crowd.
It was Big Gay that pushed the transactivism after they ran out of gay issues.
A little of both. I’d dig up the article if I wan’t lazy but it was a deliberate strategy plotted by some well-known Marxists to take advantage of the existing support for L, G, and B. Big Gay was happy to oblige.
I suspect the Venn diagram for “Big Gay” and “Marxists” had some significant overlap.
RC while the earth looks like a sphere it is actually an oblate spheroid.
That’s the lefty way. Make up their own definition of a word, and when you argue with them, the argument hinges on that definition. So tiresome.

OED
Can you get water wet?
Predicate nominative, not predicate adjective.
Water is inherently wet… only an omnipotent God can make water that is dry — right after He drops the boulder so massive that He shouldn’t be able to lift it, yet does anyway on you for impertinent questions He’s heard too many times over the millenia.
“Can you get water wet?”
Yes, you can add a wetting agent.
Water can be made wetter by adding substances that reduce its surface tension.
Dammit, Tater!
I love the range of serious reponses to a bit of silliness
Dehydrated water isn’t wet until you add dihydrogen monoxide.
Me and ol’ Speed walker are smart.
No argument here — at this point, I honestly don’t think NASA does anything worth mentioning (which I suppose is hardly surprising after their last decade had their highest priority being Muslim outreach or whatever lunacy it was). The FAA could handle space debris watch / coordinating launches just as well, there’s little else they do that SpaceX or other private sector companies couldn’t pick up the slack on as Sloopy notes — and more likely, would speed up on if NASA would get out of the way (well, NASA.. the weaponized EPA, etc…)
Lock up Jack Smith with the Chicago gang leader.
The complete lack of repercussions or accountability makes the J. Edgar Hoover era of the FBI look tame, and simply means that the next group will immediately default to this state.
The Church Committee was wrong, there are no reforms possible.
Which is why I’m still in the “salt the earth” camp and believe we can survive as a nation without a dedicated intelligence apparatus, and certainly without a domestic one (and a non-domestic one should be entirely within branches of the military and entirely non-clandestine in most operations… which is probably the camel’s nose given the NSA, data mining, etc…. I know… look, I don’t get paid to solve the problems of all society — nor am I qualified!)

I know the story is about an entirely different set of people and an actual murder. I can stretch my mind far enough to think the same way, but I also practice getting into the mids of people that are not me. Killing my rivals would not advance my position, so I leave them to suffer.
Yup… but I don’t expect OMB who granted it in the first place to acknowledge that particular screw up.
Operation Warp Speed – great name, great success, just tremendous!
He just did a presser with the head of Pfizer announcing he granted them a bunch of money.
In fact, they could quit — start a Substack, leverage that into a media network with like-minded journalists and then take over a major network’s news team in a merger…
Then the cycle would begin anew.

The girlfriend had the gnocchi, I had the chicken.
She did have a suspiciously puffed out package on the dessert (Salted Caramel Tiramisu), which could have been assigned to air pressure differences, but no one else’s was inflated as much. And when she opened it, I took a whiff (albeit at reduced smell capacity) and thought I detected some sour/off notes. Considering it’s dairy and sugar, and she tried a bite of mine and didn’t care for it, it went back to the stewardess who actually thanked us for pointing it out. I guess they don’t do random QC checks, and she said they don’t know about problems unless flyers point them out. She was mentioning that they had issues with cheese getting moldy so they don’t offer cheese anymore.
I can’t remember the last time I had actual food on a flight. Just pretzels or something. My longest flights these days are 4 hours.
Purely for entertainment purposes, I take the train 1st Class from Montreal to Quebec when I visit. I do enjoy the actual food and wine.
And the ticket costs less than the parking for my car at the station. I need to find a place where I can park for less.

International is the only time I’ve seen it anymore. Now mind you, I would not call it “good”, merely palatable. At least the portion sizes are small. The hot tray is about the size of a small hot dog in a bun, and will either be a full vegetarian dish or a full “meal”. The chicken was the smallest piece of chicken breast I’ve ever seen (think of a large chicken breast cut across, and a piece from inside being given), a couple of spoonfuls of “risotto”, and some overcooked green beans. Everything else is at very low temperatures (I’d guess ~40 F, which works for desserts, not so much for bread).

“weighing the constitutionality of bans passed by nearly half of U.S. states on the practice known as conversion therapy for children”
Known as by who, asshole?
“Colorado, on the other hand, says the measure simply regulates licensed therapists by barring a practice that’s been scientifically discredited and linked to serious harm. ”
Sexual orientation and gender identity are two different things.
The difference isn’t one of legal significance and I can easily see this boomeranging on the trans activist world.
Isn’t the difference of legal significance if the argument is that they are regulating health care? They are two separate conditions.
Changing gender is going to change sexual orientation. A male who is attracted to women and undergoes gender change will be a lesbian (by the definitions of the idiots promoting this shit).
That seems more than a bit of a stretch.
How is that a stretch? They say that shit all the time.
They say gender transitioning is conversion therapy?
Common Tater:
The argument would be that a male presenting male who is interested in women is straight, if they change to a male presenting female who is still interested in women, they’re now a lesbian. By the QUILTBAGS own terminology.
Now they could argue they were queer the whole time, but it would likely depend on the way the law is written. Lots of poorly written and rushed laws have bad consequences, that’s why poorly written and rushed laws should not be passed.
Neph there was never any logic involved, so there is no reason for them to be logical or consistent in any of this. That’s the flaw in their legal argument now – logic and consistency matter.
Neph and Juris, you are making it too simple. Simple things can be effectively argued about. This is why there are 1000 words to describe every possible combination of physical traits, sexual preference, level of sexual desire, and various kinks.
The law mandates that the claimed gender identity of children has to be confirmed. While “conversion therapy” meant trying to make gay people heterosexual. Not the other way round.
“The argument would be that a male presenting male who is interested in women is straight, if they change to a male presenting female who is still interested in women, they’re now a lesbian.”
Which is legal under this law. Making people lesbian isn’t considered “conversion therapy” .
Fine CT, now make it a man who was attracted to men that undergoes gender transition – he is no longer a homosexual but now heterosexual. He has had conversion therapy.
Still, more than a bit of a stretch that the law bans gender transitions, since you know, a law having to affirm a child’s trans gender is going to lead to gender transition.
Of course this seems to stretch reality. You are discussing laws attempting to impose a non-real ideological framework onto pseudo scientific ‘therapies’ to alter mental images only loosely based in anything concrete to begin with. Every aspect of the subject is some degree of make believe.
“Supreme Court’s conservative majority found states can ban transition-related health care for transgender youths, a setback for LGBTQ rights.”
No, it isn’t.
Slippery slope. Today they are banning switching genders, tomorrow they are forcing gay people to divorce.
Kids can’t get married either.
Injustice!
The anti-conversion therapy statutes I have looked at typically have to specifically exclude gender transition (which, after all, is a synonym for converting) of children.
Seriously, how fucked up is it that talking about sexual preference in certain ways is illegal, but permanently altering someone’s body and psyche with drugs and surgery is promoted?
Even though I think trying to pray the gay away is stupid, it shouldn’t be illegal.

Holy shit, the actual triggerman in the murder-for-hire didn’t get life?
Did he get a deal for testimony? or just light sentencing?
Maybe he decided to transition in prison… I hear that’s a good plan for really cutting down on your sentence these days.
From the report it appears he testified, but still – he fucking pulled the trigger and dumped the body.
“An unlucky man purchased a Tesla from a used car dealership only to learn that it was nearly impossible to charge the electric vehicle after driving it off the lot….
A Tesla representative eventually got back to Boycott and let him know that “the car is currently unsupported for supercharging and warranties are voided due to [it being a] salvaged vehicle.”
Then he took an actual look at the report, which noted a “minor accident” before it was turned over to the dealership.
The damages looked minuscule in the provided photos, but a Tesla technician later told Boycott the repair wasn’t done well — deeming his car a damaged vehicle.
The Elon Musk-owned company said connecting a damaged vehicle to the Superchargers is a safety issue, which is why his car was removed from the network.”
https://nypost.com/2025/10/07/us-news/man-purchases-used-tesla-unknowingly-banned-from-all-supercharger-stations/
That’s a big bowl of wrong.
Failure to disclose that prior to sale is fraud by omission. He should get a full refund plus damages from the dealership.
It’s well known that Tesla won’t charge vehicles with a salvage title.
I don’t know the laws by state with regards to a used car dealer disclosing a salvage title.
“The Elon Musk-owned company…” I thought Tesla was a public company? When did Musk take it private?
Technically correct. The same way anybody that holds a share of stock in a company is an “owner”.
He does not hold a controlling interest. However, this lets MSM smear him and be technically correct.
I love that technically correct.

Also, something or several somethings are missing from the story. Rhe buyer said the Carfax said it was clean, then he didn’t look into the Carfax until after he bought it and the word Salvage didn’t make sense to him and everyone acknowledges a prior accident, which means it wasn’t “clean”, whether the accident was minor or not.

Also contradicts that. So drunk and passed out.
That’s my guess. I had a friend who was using cocaine to enable his drinking. You can drink to the point of sloppy drunk, then do a few bumps as a reset on the drunkenness. It was great, my friend says.

‘11,000 Strings’ Review: Georg Friedrich Haas’s Meditation
Receiving its American premiere at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, the composer’s work for 50 distinctly tuned pianos plus a 25-member chamber ensemble is a singular, shimmering sonic experience.

How badly out of tune is this “distinctly”?
Similar to vibrato I assume. If you have pianos above and below the standard tuning you’ll get an interesting harmony. You can also tune them up and down to extend their range.
I still have little interest in this however. Non standard tunings aren’t new with modern music.
In fact, standard tunings are new in comparison.
It doesn’t say distinctly “out of tune”, but “tuned.”
Very different things.

Check out Crowdhealth, which does crowdfunding in lieu of insurance. Mrs. Dean and I have had it for several months now and have been happy with it. Saved us a bunch of money, too.
At some point with the endless caving, capitulating and reaching across the aisle you have to admit that ‘the opposition’ is not on your team.
Repeal Obamacare already you worthless fucks!
They effectively did – no penalty for non-compliance. What you really want is a wholesale removal of government from healthcare – Medicare/Medicaid, CDC, block grants to states – the whole shebang.
Good fucking luck with that. Even I don’t want you messing with Medicare.
Should’ve added – no tax deduction for anyone (employer or individual) for health insurance.
juris imprudent:
I’d accept as a compromise allowing individuals to deduct health insurance to begin the ability to decouple it from employment.
That’s just more tinkering at the edge. There is no Article I authority for any federal healthcare spending, period. We either abide by the Constitution or we accept it is “merely a guideline”.
I’m reasonably sure even the RINOs will draw the line at government-paid healthcare for illegals. Now, continuing a broken subsidy system to buy some of them votes? Count on it.

Screw em…
I don’t know about Nye specifically, but I listen to a number of podcasts and/or read stuff on space exploration as it really fascinates me. Almost to a man (& woman), these people are very internationalist: space is for everyone; we need to avoid exporting national rivalries to space; we must cooperate as a human race.
But then, when there’s any hint of NASA cuts, it becomes “America will fall behind the rest of the world.” They should be celebrating that.

Bullshit.
With Bidenflation and population growth I wouldn’t be surprised if damages have increased in nominal terms.
I don’t know man, before all the climate change stuff started I don’t recall Florida having hurricanes.
Yep, all the way back in 1559 anthropogenic global climate catastrophe was wrecking Florida.
(Florida history factlet: the Spanish came back 140 years later and re-established Pensacola as a permanent settlement, joining St. Augustine on the Atlantic coast and a few missions in the interior of the state. Fast forward to 1819 and Spain cedes Florida to the U.S. Since the only two towns of importance were still Pensacola and St. Augustine, and since they were over 350 miles apart, the territorial capital was built between and equidistant from the two — which is how Tallahassee became the seat of state government.)
If you build anything on a Florida gulf coast beach the chances of it being destroyed in a hurricane are exactly 100%. When you see something being built there you are looking at an insurance scam.
What, if any, is the difference between “conversion therapy” and the mandated therapy given to convicts? If you can’t convert someone from being gay, why is it possible to convert them from being a pedophile or wife beater?
I’m willing to believe that the latter is just about self-control and the former is advertised as changing genuine desires.
My own pet theory – state-mandated therapy is mandated by the state, and conversion therapy is usually something that someone is coerced into, usually by their parents.

“The president was asked about the infamous Jeffrey Epstein madam in the Oval Office just hours after the Supreme Court declined to consider her appeal.
Trump appeared to be caught off guard by the question despite the recent decision by the justices and swirling controversy around the so-called ‘Epstein files.’

The reporter shot back: ‘Why would she be a candidate for clemency? She was convicted of child sex trafficking.’
The president replied: ‘I don’t know, I’ll have to look at it. A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy, has asked me for a pardon. I’ll have to ask DOJ. I didn’t know they rejected it, I didn’t even know she was even asking for it, frankly.'”

And even if I was never censored, … if I did write something that was in favor of free markets or criticizing regulations — or criticizing the left, for that matter, as I sometimes do — would anyone believe that those were really my views rather than opinions enforced and ordered from above?”
Now she’ll be able to keep her MSNBC gig and still spout unfettered nonsense with a clean conscience.
I think she means “in the unlikely event I write something that was in favor of free markets or criticizing regulations — or criticizing the left”.

Requirement to wear hijab has been abolished in Iran.
https://nova24.uz/en/world-en/in-iran-the-requirement-to-wear-hijab-has-been-abolished/
The Mullahs must be afraid of the people.
The most recent trouble began over a hijab enforcement incident. It looks like the rationale is “placate this symptom to shut them up”
Even dictators have to pay attention to public sentiment, in some cases maybe even more than elected officials. They don’t have the “Hey, you voted for this” excuse so when the peasants storm the Bastille they know just who to go after.
Still, I don’t think it will placate the mob, since the grievences are too wide ranging. Plus, it’s significant that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ending enforcement of a basic rule of Islam, when the whole claim to authority is from a religious angle.
I really hope the Persians overthrow the Mullahs soon.
““It’s roared back into action,” said Noelle Damico, director of social justice at the Workers Circle, an advocacy group that has helped organize vigils attended by hundreds of protesters at the jail every weekend since it opened in early July.”

I mean she’s the director of social justice at the Workers Circle.
People are being disappeared. Now that I see up close these kinds of people and their rhetoric it makes me think back and question everything I have ever heard about politics. It is all lies.
Hey Bondi, maybe look into the funding of the Workers Circle in between your Fox News appearances.
This. I have little hope that the games will end and the bad players outed and punished. It is an eternal circle jerk to see who can be the top looter of the human race.
Wouldn’t the commie’s time be better spent lobbying Congress to change immigration law that Biden ignored but Trump is enforcing? Granted it doesn’t offer as much opportunity for performative oUtRaGe but….
A commie’s time is best spent in a gibbet.
The Miami Herald reported that hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz captives, of the estimated 1,800 held there in July ahead of the legal maneuverings, had since “dropped off the grid”.
Presumably returned to their shitholes of origin. Maybe the intrepid reporters can look for them in Caracas or Burkina Faso or wherever.

Day 6 Federal Government REDACTED Shutdown
I failed in my attempts to communicate earlier with the outside world, if such a thing still exists. The rudimentary telegraph machine we assembled has gone silent after a garbled distress call was inadvertently sent out and a return message of “Why” was received.
Curiously, it was reported in the before times last week by State run media that our equipment was so antiquated that we sourced parts and expertise to Wilbur himself.
Orville, however, remained skeptical of our use of “wireless” technology and is said to have uttered, “We shall not rely upon the work of foreign-born experimenters; surely true American ingenuity shall prevail.”
A brief annotation was discovered in the project log beneath his statement with just four letters: “M.O.G.A.”
No one here recalls authorizing that program.
Pending further review, a task force has been established to determine the root cause of the telegraph’s non-compliance with approved communication frameworks. Sadly or merrily they are all on vacation.

Don’t mess with the narrative!
They can have the ATC goons from Lewiston Idaho. This airport dosent need them. Not enough traffic on the busiest of days to need them.

So you got a response from Nancy Kerrigan.
2 years in, and I currently don’t know what to think about Israel/Hamas. Oct. 7 was horrific. Israel had a right to strike back. Are there kids being killed in Gaza? Definitely. Is Hamas lying about that? Definitely. Should Israel kill kids? They are being brainwashed into the next generation of terrorists, so I guess?
None of this is black and white, it’s all terrible. Hopefully it will “end” soon, but “end” is in quotes because we all know it will be temporary.
Only one party/side refused to accept the two-state solution. They chose badly.
It will end when either Israel finally bites the bullet and forcibly removes all ‘Palestinians’ from their territory, or when something happens to give the ‘Palestinians’ the ability to kill all the Israelis. Short of that it isn’t ending no matter what treaties get signed.
Should the 8th Airforce carpet bomb Berlin?
Don’t care.
“On Wednesday’s episode of the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told host and columnist Miranda Devine that Epstein, his former Manhattan neighbor with whom he shared a townhouse wall, was the “greatest blackmailer ever.” Then the secretary grew even more blunt: “That’s how he had money.”
…
That’s when Epstein revealed his hand, Lutnick claimed. “‘They get a massage,’ that’s what his M.O. was,” the secretary said of how Epstein catered to his wealthy friends. “‘Get a massage, get a massage,’ and what happened in that massage room, I assume, was on video.”

Question for PTB or anyone who works in the web content space: my wife is looking at starting a little chocolate-based food blog. I looked at a couple of the sites that she follows, that she likes the look of, but they were WordPress with commercial plugins. I know the PTB are looking at a Word Press replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions for low-effort content management? Likely I will have to end up managing this platform, and web content is not my area.

Completely unrelated to Trump telling them to pay for their own damn defense, I’m sure.
Hmm, this is shocking, you mean adopting government policies that discourage productivity, block entrepreneurship, and attempt to control innovation ends up making everyone poor?
Nah, just sounds like bad luck to all right-thinking people.
Huh, maybe you should be able to stand on your own.
“The co-founders of the violent Portland, Oregon Antifa group Rose City Antifa have been discovered living in Sweden by independent journalist Christian Peterson. The journalist attempted to ask Johan Victorin, who has US and Swedish dual citizenship, whether President Donald Trump’s designation of Antifa as a domestic terrorist group made him afraid of being convicted.
Johan and Caroline Victorin had fled to Europe, and are now living in Varberg, Sweden. The two co-founded Rose City Antifa, a group that has gone underground since 2021.”

LOL
Dual citizenship is a contradiction in terms. You cannot have multiple co-loyalties.
Pick a country, renounce the others.
In fact, we should not recognize it. If you have citizenship in another country, you lose your US citizenship. I’d accept giving people a deadline to file a renunciation of their foreign alleigences and drop the alternate citizenship to retain their US citizenship. Just to be fair. After that grace period, any foreign citizenship costs you your US citizenship.
There is no Constitutional mechanism for revoking citizenship, so you’d have to start there.
There is likewise no constituional clause saying it is irrevokable. The actual verbiage dealing with citizenship is limited to a few short sentences in the powers of congress, an implication that one may be a ‘natural born’ citizen which is left undefined, and the 14th amendment “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”. By accepting the citizenship of a foreign power a person can be said to be accepting that power’s jurisdiction and thus not required to be recognized as a citizen of the US.
Meh.
I have a friend who was born in the US to Italians (His dad was a researcher for IBM). He has dual citizenship. He has homes in both Parma and NYC.
I’d like to have citizenship in a few countries. In fact I have researched it, but it is too expensive for me.
Take away that Italian’s US passport.
UCS, your argument stinks of disloyalty to the Crown. Fuck that.
How so?
The individual is still allowed to choose where their citizenship lies, but citizenship is and should be a mutually exclusive state. You are a citizen of one and only one country.
You’re very first sentence invokes loyalty.
What loyalty do I owe to a state that steals from me?
Yes.
“Three California college students were killed in a car crash when the Cybertruck they were traveling in malfunctioned, trapping them inside the burning vehicle, according to recent lawsuits. One of the suits alleged that a college student was not able to escape the car despite surviving the crash, because the truck lost power, causing the door release to malfunction.”
https://thepostmillennial.com/college-students-burned-to-death-inside-cybertruck-after-doors-sealed-shut-from-crash-lawsuit
yikes!
No one was ever entrapped inside a crashed ICE power vehicle that burned, ever.
But at least they had regular doors.
So movies are a lie?! I really need to rethink my life.
It’s the stupid electric door locks. They aren’t unique to EVs, but are more common on them.
If you aren’t familiar with the vehicle the manual releases can be be difficult to find and activate. So much so that China, believe it not, is considering banning their use in vehicles domestically.
The handle to exit a vehicle is a safety device, and should be operable in any condition. That includes loss of power.
I don’t care how common the stupidity is, make them mechanical again.
And nothing else will happen.

As pointed out to me a few days ago, something will happen. They will refine their methods and continue apace
There is a very unfortunate consequence to that path. It should make them reconsider, but probably won’t until they actually see one of the compatriots hanging from a lamppost and an angry mob chasing them down.

Finally! A scientific quiz to help me decide which commie should run Minneapolis.
I have to admit, though, that there were a lot of questions that didn’t have an answer that I wanted to pick. For example:
There wasn’t an option “No, because they were fundamentally wrong to begin with”
‘workers overthrow the system of capitalism’
No one has ever explained to me what that means.
Meet the new boss, worse than the old boss.
I’m not sure either, but the bathrooms in Starbucks have gotten a lot dirtier ever since the workers threw down their shackles.
The “correct” answers are all the commie ones, right?
After you answer a question, it tells you which candidates have the same view. So there are no “right” answers. By definition, if a mayoral candidate agrees with a position, it is wrong.
But you won’t see anybody suggesting that the solution to budget crunches are to cut spending.

I didn’t buy enough.
On the other hand, if you don’t sell it, its price doesn’t really matter.
For a while now, I’ve been doing a monthly order of a specific dollar amount of gold/silver. The amounts I can get for the same amount are getting smaller and smaller. I’ve taken to using Goldbacks to get closer to my target amount (they have some real gold in them, and can be used as currency at some local places, though I’ve just been holding onto them).

I mentioned yesterday I like Rush, but mostly their older albums.

Common Tater:
How else do you explain why a country full of beavers has so few people?
The only thing wrong with Rush is Geddy Lee’s horrible voice.
The overwrought lyrics would still be bad regardless of who is singing them.
But yes, Geddy Lee sucks.

In France, as the nation’s debt soars, its credit rating slips, incomes stagnate, prime ministers fall and the country stumbles into ungovernability, the public is grappling with two questions: Will millennials and younger generations lead worse-off lives than their parents and grandparents? And if not, who will pay for the continued comforts?
In other words, what happens after you have spent the principal?
For France and Germany, long the pillars of the European Union, it is unclear that they can still afford to be the West’s guiding lights of economic justice.
“Economic justice” is not self-sustaining? Say it ain’t so.
My impression is that the only countries in Europe that aren’t collapsing are the conservative leaning ones.
Who could have seen that coming?

Explore the Ultimate Adirondack-Style Mountain Lodge on the Chattooga River With Broker Ray Trine

Just minutes from the shopping and fine dining of downtown Cashiers, Blue Bear Camp is the ultimate Adirondack-style mountain lodge. This prime property borders the Nantahala National Forest, ensuring privacy and abundant wildlife. Another world awaits in the dream-like setting amid the wild Chattooga River, flowering landscaping, a sparkling waterfall, and lush forest, all against the stunning backdrop of Whiteside Mountain and Devil’s Courthouse. Reminiscent of the great camps in the early 1900s, the rustic decor is warm and welcoming with natural wood details such as pine logs with golden chinking, wax-rubbed reclaimed heart pine floors, and a grandiose circular log staircase surrounding a seven-foot antler chandelier. The staircase is a masterpiece of engineering, constructed from Colorado Ponderosa pine over three months. Much of the custom furniture and details were built by local craftsmen on site. Other unique finishes were created by artisans from across the country, using natural materials such as mica, aged copper, shed elk antlers from Wyoming, Canadian birch bark, wormy chestnut, and turquoise. The stunning stonework and multiple fireplaces throughout the home were built from Tennessee fieldstones, many of which reveal 300,000-year-old fossils. In addition to the private guest quarters with a kitchenette and laundry room, the sprawling three-story home with an elevator offers an abundance of space for family and guests to explore, including a sunroom, library, an artist studio, game room, wine cellar, a resplendent home theater, and a fitness room with a sauna and steam room. Nature lovers will revel in the magical surroundings and fresh mountain air on the covered porch amid sights and sounds of the rushing waterfall. There’s something for everyone to enjoy in an area offering residents access to the countless natural resources and opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, fly fishing, biking, skiing, and golf.

A relative complained to me recently that the taxes on his house are 6K per year. Then there are the golf course fees. And the other separate taxing bodies – school board, constable’s office. Oh, did I mention the HOA fees?
Comes to just over 12K per year. Also, he got fined by the HOA for parking his truck in his own driveway with mud on it.
Who the fuck is stupid enough to pay all of that?
Shit, I’m overcharged at $3k/year
I pay around 4K but most of that is on sizable acreage and is paid for by hunting leases. I even have a little left over.
