Actually, several bullets were dodged. We had a gala opening of a new shop here in the Gulch, of a type I call a “chick shop.” Scented soaps, knick-knacks, feminist-themed stickers, books, napkin rings, twee little lamps, you know the type. Everyone who was anyone was there, and the political talk was heavy and monotone. I wiggled out of any questions or comments thrown my way, and apparently successfully.
Spud and I had a dinner with our respective SOs who had never met. They are extremely different people, but each fine in their own way. Nonetheless, there’s always a worry. Dodged that bullet, too, they got along great.
Life is a bit easier today.
Birthdays today are a bit sparse but include a guy not famous for the Klein bottle; a guy who made fire chief long before Spud could have; someone to blame for Harvey Korman and your cell phone; a politician doomed to be an NCO all his life; the liberal candidate for governor of Maryland in ’66; a much better version of Neil deGrasse Tyson; not the greatest chess player ever but certainly the most creative; the obligatory commie blonde in the act; and a musician I’d have no truck with.
And as usual, a truckload of Links.
Here’s a crazy idea: instead of arguing about enforcement, argue about changing the actual law. You know, what Team Red and Team Blue both don’t want to do.
As any American man on the alimony express will note, there’s paying and there’s paying.
I’ve lost several girlfriends this way as well.
Hang out in Chicago and this is statistically inevitable.
This guy, he’s my kind of guy.
The usual anonymous sourcing, but if true, a delightful troll. Now give the team their name back.
Counting on the usual useful leftist idiots and bigots to bail them out.
Well, at least it’s convenient.
Most Underwhelming GoFundMe Ever.
The decline and fall of Australia.
This could go two ways. I’m betting on it turning out well; Sharaa is nothing if not transactional.
One of the worst parts of this generation is that female rockers have mutated into freak shows. The Old Guy notes that this is what they took away from us.

Break #1. And y’all still wormin’ in bed. Nirvana then Bush on radio. Not shabby.
Boris Johnson has gone back n forth on being fairly good and being a piece of shit. Hrm.
Happy birthday Fire Marshal Bill?
Happy birthday Colonel Gaddafi?
Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings.
Colonel is a commissioned rank, tho.
Corporal Hitler?
Gaddafi bestowed the rank upon himself only after taking power in a coup though. Frankly, I think he should been more ambitious. You might as well go for General, or maybe Supreme God of War or something if you’re just handing yourself a title.
Last King of Scotland
Happy birthday, Napoleon Bonaparte!
Happy birthday Terry Fell?
I was thinking Oskar Werner.
John Banner?
If I’m gonna get shot, the ER *is* my preferred location. Great way to milk that Yelp review.
One can milk a mammal in many ways. Thorns, frowned upon.
But cops have to clear the scene first before they let EMS go in. You’ll bleed out before the next cop braves the room.
Why do I get the feeling that even if this happened, some district court judge would issue a stay within the hour and we’d have to wait 2 years for the appeal to reach SCOTUS?
Sigh, how about instead of this we just ditch the income tax entirely to get rid of the tax benefits of insurance and let people go ahead and pay for their own medical care directly, without massive layers of Government and Insurance company bureaucracy?
“Why you take away my free stuff?”
It’s not free; I’m being forced to pay for it.
Becuz insufficient opportunities for grift.
Because if you hold a penny in your left hand then change it over to your right hand the govt is going to get its fucking beak wet. Allowing private transactions of any kind ever to happen without them regulating it and taking a cut is unthinkable. They are going to stick their dick into every aspect of your life no matter how trivial….ask that cockroach that just got elected mayor of NYC, he will tell you straight up.
And the fat and stupid don’t get that when government really is paying for your health, then government is going to dictate to you what you can and can’t do, for the sake of your health.
I am in-favor for two reasons –
Create populist support for ACA alternatives
Incentives to direct payments for healthcare which will hopefully create alternate care channels.
Like many here I am self-employed and had a very reasonable high-deductible plan pre-ACA. The individual mandate was extremely stressful but we opted to not comply and simply never “checked the box” on insurance coverage. We’ve been uninsured for over a decade, but actual healthcare becomes more expensive and tedious as so many are covered via ACA/Medicaid so the system is set-up to maximize profits from the multiple freebies offered from those plans.
a guy not famous for the Klein bottle
Happy birthday Ezra Klein!
Not Calvin?
I can’t imagine why.
I mean, if my ex went around saying we broke up because my wang was just too enormous, I wouldn’t be that mad.
I saw a picture of his new squeeze who is also petite; some girls are just more motivated, I guess.
Thanks for going there, Slumbrew. My first thoughts of her were also that she was lazy, for lack of a better term.
She was with him for 10 years, it obviously can’t have been that much of a problem. She’s just an attention seeking narcissist, and it worked since people are now talking about her.
I’m not a receiver of such things but “two Coke cans, stacked, maybe three” does sound like a lot. OTOH, babies use that passage.
Babies do use that passage, but they don’t generally crawl back in and out, and stitches, and involuntary defecation are often involved.
She did him a favor on so many levels.
Maybe this is like the boss who fires you but offers a glowing letter of recommendation so you can land on your feet.
WHO?!?
As I was reading that story, I was thinking to myself “Who in the everloving fuck would want to listen to a 32 year old woman who unironically uses terms like “deadass” talk about their ex-husband’s cock for an hour and a half?” I thought I had no life…
People are talking less about her and more about the size of his… equipment.
I’d pay for that kind of publicity but alas…
Not sure how much has changed in the last 20 years, but a friend of my dad’s (legal permanent resident) was convinced Spain was a socialist paradise where he would receive top medical care for his myriad health problems and tried to immigrate. Turns out their socialism isn’t really the international variety. Good luck there, Carlos.
Also, not for nothing, but you could have applied for asylum in about 18 countries on your way from Venezuela to the USA, and the “T” in “TPS” stands for “temporary.” It’s on the label.
So, he forgot to put the cover sheet on the TPS report? Yeah, were going to go ahead and do that from now on.
“Nothing is as permanent as a temporary government program” — Uncle Miltie
Venezuela won the lottery according to my research in 2021. So he lived here as an illegal alien for several years – I wonder how much we paid for that.
Go sob somewhere else.
Boris Johnson and figures linked to him are engaging in an effort to undermine the BBC’s leadership, insiders fear, after the leaking of a memo criticising its reporting of Donald Trump, trans rights and Gaza.
I love how they are framing this as mean old politician goes after noble, truth-telling leadership of Beloved State Broadcaster, instead of BBC caught red-handed displaying bias.
But the BBC has LEADERSHIP, can’t you READ, you filthy queer?????
My apologies, I meant to say, “…you filthy right wing fascist MAGA queer!”
I have never met Tonio, so perhaps I am just basing this on stereotypes, but I pictured him more as an immaculately groomed right wing fascist MAGA queer!
He’s a bear. I’m not certain bears are immaculately groomed. :-p
Join the Zooms and you may see a bit more of Tonio than you bargained for.
*1,000 yard stare*
Tonio is immaculate and sports a crewcut you could set your watch by.
I saw more of Tonio’s cat that I ever wanted too on the zooms.
When you stare into the cat butt, the cat butt stares into you.
It’s State media, of course it is going to be biased. The entire West has allowed the State propaganda arms to be taken over by the enemies of Western Civilization. This seems like a solid reason to eliminate all State media, preferably by firing squad.
No way!
someone to blame for Harvey Korman and your cell phone
Happy birthday George Antheil! (Nobody ever thinks about his role because penis.)
“Temporal is the most direct and widely used translation, especially in formal or abstract contexts (e.g., “temporary protection status” = estatus de protección temporal)” – some AI.
So, pretty close in Spanish, and still not permanente.
still not permanente.
Of course not, the Kaiser abdicated in 1918
and a musician I’d have no truck with
Happy birthday Red Sovine!
The “month old ceasefire” actually ended about 3.5 weeks ago when Hamas violated it. That should probably be obvious when your story begins with Hamas refusing to surrender arms and stop fighting.
You know, I haven’t tripped over the word Genocide in a few weeks, wonder why?
It’s pretty amazing how the terms remain negotiable to them. It’s almost as if Hamas never had any intention of honoring the terms.
Dodged that bullet, too, they got along great.
If they didnt did you have an established method to determin who dumps his? Like who can identify most wines in a 10 wine blind?
Given that women have a different operating system than men, I wouldn’t be so sure they got along. It’s really easy to misinterpret the signals, at least in my experience.
The safe assumption is that all women actually hate each other with the passion of a thousand suns, but as long as they can keep a lid on it long enough to get through dinner with your best friend and his mate, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
I rode home with Spud and (woman to be nicknamed later) while Prime drove home in the other direction. WTBNNL was gushing about how “brilliant but down to earth” Prime was, and wondered what I did to land such a wonderful woman.
So I’ll take that as a good sign.
The safe assumption is that all women actually hate each other with the passion of a thousand suns, but as long as they can keep a lid on it long enough to get through dinner with your best friend and his mate, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
This.
“Police estimated the damage at less than $2,500.”
Zero is less than 2500, so technically correct.
The real damage was to the public treasure that paid for the installation.
Hey, the work team had to be out there for a full day, and that adds up!
Also, googly eyes:

We are going to need an independent study to replicate this claim
You have to remember his dating pool. It’s a much less impressive claim coming from OMWC than from say Tres.
“spent the last six years building a future in Miami[…]lost temporary protected status, or TPS”
So six years is “temporary”? I’m sorry, but after Dementia Joe’s autopen anally raped the immigration system, I have no sympathy. You’re all out. If you go back to Venezuela and develop some killer new AI algorithm or become a world-renowned heart surgeon then we’ll be happy to have you back but I’m done with politicos abusing “bring me your tired and poor” the same way reform Jews have been abusing “tikkun olam”.
Keeping in mind that by “me” they have never once been referring to themselves.
Tired and poor was bullshit from the beginning. We were the outlet for the misfits of rest of the world – the ones that weren’t happy in their straightjacket societies. This has always been a country for those who wanted better and now we are led by those who want to revert America to the world norm.
The tired and poor are bad enough, but the wretched refuse are the worst.
And “we will shower them with other people’s money from cradle to grave” was never part of the bargain, either.
Yep. More than a few went back when they found the streets weren’t paved with gold bricks and honey.
Also, many were turned back when they arrived but didn’t have a relative, sponsor, or job contact.

I purchased a bottle of your American whisky for Romanian black Friday at a steep discount. Don’t expect much otherwise it would not be discounted but eh maybe the occasional cocktail or sip
What label?
Penelope Architect at 52% for 48 american bucks
Very nice. I’ve seen that one at my local, but haven’t picked it up yet. If I remember correctly, the price is about the same or slightly higher here.
That’s a good discount vs the $65 list price.
News out of Chester County, PA is that the Democrat run Election Board left off the rolls the names of 75,000 independent and third party registered voters. Some 16% managed to cast provisional ballots in an election where the turnout was about 45% of uni party voters. Right under this article in the local paper is this headline: “Shapiro fears Trump will interfere with midterm elections.”
That’s progress of a sort, at least they didn’t just submit 75,000 party line ballots in their stead.
But Democrats swear they want EVERYONE to vote.
And nothing else happened.
For years, the establishment here claimed there was no way for illegals to use driver license registration to vote. And they wouldn’t want to because there were criminal penalties. In series of dribbled revelations turns out illegals were registered (by “mistake”). And some voted. This week state announced there would be no prosecutions because it would be too hard to prove.
Sure, Tucker Carlson is increasingly crazy, Candace Owens is a conspiracy loon and Nick Fuentes is a total shithead; but how this compares to the bulk of the Democrat base chanting “from the river to the sea” and celebrating the slaughter of Jewish babies eludes me.

More own goals by Marcus of Queensbury dipshits who don’t understand how to message.
The paleocon/Pat Buchanan wing has always been antisemitic, they just got bounced out of the mainstream during the neocon ascendancy. And yes, they’re pieces of shit for it, but as you said, the people typically calling them out for it need to see about plucking the California redwood out of their own eye.
DEMOCRATS POUNCE!
Republicans shrug and move along with their day. But yeah, this guy is an idiot for playing footsie with leftist trash.
Candy O was on POTP, and Dave Smith is still calling it a “genocide in 4K”.
When I looked that up, the first listed acronym was Puppetry Of The Penis instead of Part Of The Problem, and I think I prefer to read it that way.
Top DDG result was “Puppetry of the Penis.” 🤔
Oh well. At least I replicated the results. SCIENCE!!!
So you are saying Dave Smith can do a one-man puppet show with three simultaneous puppets?
I hadn’t thought of her as that.
I like Dave but somewhere along the line his dislike of foreign aid and Middle-East hornet kicking started to move into “Jews control everyone in Congress” and “Our support for Israel is the cause of most of this nation’s troubles”.
When you can’t understand what people are doing, you invent your own reasons for it. And finding a scapegoat is always an attractive thought.
I’m grateful to that part of the right for standing up to the antisemites. If your point is the left tolerates, or even embraces, it that’s true. So I’d rather the right be better.
Your point about messaging is fair. But I think the root of the problem is Republicans hold power but do little to pass free marker reforms that would give the disaffected young men a reason to believe they have a future.
Speaking of women and the dangers they pose.
Obscure subjects is an odd way to describe warped fantasies.
I thought the A was for affluent?
Why not both?
Yup. Young females cos-playing “revolution” were his biggest supporters, more than any other pigeon group.
“some fans continue to push for it”
I wonder how much heavy lifting “some” is doing there. It is the Guardian.
Good run down on the hullaballoo about Tucker, Heritage, et al.
And, in keeping with Hoffer – what was the devil that united them all? Communism, and thus the Cold War. With Communism vanquished, what was left to hold that movement together?
MAGA won’t hold because it is first and foremost a cult of personality, and when that personality withdraws, so goes the motivation.
Luckily, Communism is resurgent!
Unfortunately, not our grandfather’s Communism.
Fuentes is just the new David Duke.
It was an antihuman fantasy then and is an antihuman fantasy now.
There is a glorious new world waiting to be born once this one has been destroyed! How can you not want that???
Not our grandfathers communism, because this time the Call Is Coming From INSIDE THE HOUSE!!!
Seriously, that is enough to keep the band together. And Fuentes is only big because he is the new bogey man for the left to whistle past the graveyard with. Ta-Nehisi Coats is closer to David Duke than anyone else right now.
It’s somewhat amusing to see all these navel gazing reflections on the good old days of conservatism. Ronald Reagan was castigated as a populist rabble-rouser and despised by the GOP establishment, which is why he was turfed in 1976 and had to add GHWB to his ticket to get the Rockefeller wing and donor class to jump on board in 1980. It was every bit the coup that Trump’s “takeover” of the GOP was in 2016.
Almost like continuous tumult to be the top dogs.
Also recalling how the Taft wing was turned out in favor of Ike (and the ascendancy of what you refer as to establishment).
Ha, true. “Establishment” is whoever was running the show when I was born.
What’s always kind of puzzled me is why we haven’t had a party die out like the Whigs in such a long time. I get that our system more or less guarantees a duopoly, but it doesn’t have to be the particular duopoly we’ve had since the Civil War.
I think that is basically the power of branding. Each party has a substantial base that literally votes purely based on the candidate having an R or a D next to their name, which means the winning strategy is for different groups to compete for internal control of a party rather than competing as a new party. Expansions in the electorate have generally not increased the percentage that votes carefully, which locks in the duopoly.
the power of branding
When I was born, a Southern Democrat would die before accepting the label of Republican. When the brand transforms so radically is that really brand loyalty? I don’t know, but the durability (and adaptability) are puzzling. If anything, I think it is how much the brands are ensconced in the election law that keeps new parties from springing up.
It’s like the Progressive Era, which was slightly more Republican in the beginning than Democratic, until TR broke from the party and after him, all of the progressives went to the Democrats.
Any major political figure that is not specifically blessed by the party stalwarts, either party, is a populist rabble rouser. Trump, Bernie, Bill Clinton, and so on. All threats to the establishment of the party, and thus need to be defeated at all costs.
Fun story I have seen here: Trump pardoned Daryl Strawberry, felony for not reporting $350k in autographs and undeclared income.
No prob. “You’re pinch hitting for me?! I’ve hit nine home runs today!”
*haven’t
But remember, our tax system is voluntary and there’s no such thing as tax prison…
specifically blessed by the party stalwarts
either a party has principles and can assess candidates accordingly, or they cannot
they don’t, so everything is just populist bullshit
Haley claimed her ex-husband’s penis size placed him in the top 0.01 percent of the population, making sexual intercourse “impossible.”
Were the two virgins when they married or were they those that thinks marriage magically fixes problems?
And seeing the comments up above, I see I forgot a possibility: Attention whore.
/puts dunce cap on
Attention whore
Upon seeing “TikTok” and/or “influencer” – that is the immediate and unavoidable conclusion.
Haley’s repeating her husband’s yard stick measurement. Uh-huh, right, Haley.
“In the 1988 Jay McInerney’s novel Story of My Life, we found this: “I remember I read somewhere that outlaw guy John Dillinger had one that was about a foot and a half long and it’s preserved in the Smithsonian or someplace. Now that’s what I call the Washington Monument.”
A 19-year-old Mount Gambier woman has appeared in court for the first time accused of damaging the city’s controversial Cast in Blue sculpture by sticking googly eyes on it.
Amelia Vanderhorst is charged with one count of damaging property over the incident, which allegedly occurred on September 13.
According to court documents, police allege Ms Vanderhorst was “recklessly indifferent” as to whether her conduct damaged the sculpture.
If Banksy had drawn eyes on it they would have given him a prize.
Banksy is stunning and brave within normal parameters.
The British judicial system was not impressed with his last effort.
Neither am I.
All she has to do is claim that adding the eyes helps the statue make a meaningful statement about transgenderism and they can’t touch it.
Also, if your project is elevated by adding googly eyes – it’s not art.
Now that you mention it, the Pieta could use a new pair.
If it is that easy to damage your sculpture you might reconsider keeping it outside.
“Texas Democrat James Talarico, a self-professed “devout Christian,” has been following prostitutes and porn stars on social media, even exchanging messages with some of the busty women, a new bombshell report revealed.
The four-term House rep. follows at least 10 accounts belonging to OnlyFans models, adult film actresses or escorts.”
https://nypost.com/2025/11/08/us-news/devout-christian-dem-caught-following-prostitutes-onlyfans-models-on-social-media/
Who the hell cares?
Uh… not for nothing, but Christ himself spent considerable time with prostitutes and saved an adulteress from stoning.
If the messages were, “God loves you and wants to help you leave this destructive lifestyle” that is a solid defense. If the messages were “Show me your asshole” not so much.
Is that what a VJ is?
Talarico, who is known for delivering viral sermons laced with progressive politics, has labeled Jesus Christ a “radical feminist” and argued that there are six “biological sexes.”
Nevermind, he’s just an idiot who understands Christianity about as well as he understands reality.
Even squaring the actual number doesn’t get you there. Part of me wonders how he arrived at that number, but the other part knows I don’t want the answer.
If he was just adding follows to anybody that had a witty reply on one of his posts, then no harm no foul. If his message exchange was on taxation or legislation, no problem. Whores can be interested in that as well.
And that is EXACTLY what he was doing.
Either way, I could care less about what he does personally, I care if he supports cutting government and increasing freedom.
Somehow, I get the feeling he doesn’t.
I only care if he is shoving some moralizing bullshit down his constituents throats while jerking it to internet pr0n
“The transgender wife-beater who allegedly exposed their genitals in the women’s locker room left gym-goers “humiliated” and is no woman at all, says the musician who went viral confronting them.
“Not with that big d—k, you ain’t,” said Grammy-nominated musician Tish Hyman.
Hyman, an out lesbian who moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to pursue her music career, posted a video Sunday of a screaming match she had with transgender woman Alexis Black at a Beverly Hills Gold’s Gym, which was recently bought by the rapidly-expanding EōS Fitness.”

The press needs to stop calling this asshole a “transgender woman”.
The press knows who is buttering their bread. Pretending that men are better women than women is part of the deal.
Yeah. I’m fine with it when there is a genuine effort to pass as the opposite sex. Otherwise you’re just a transvestite.
This guy wasn’t dressed as a woman.
The decline of Oregon.
Not the googly eyes, all the damn roundabouts. Bend if littered with the stupid things. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4tfjinA-mMc
We have intact statuary that predates the pyramids, and museums full of pieces that could have been seen by the likes of Aristotle. If plastic googly eyes with adhesive that won’t stick to construction paper are at risk of destroying your public “art,” you probably got rolled on whatever you paid for it.
So you want googly eyes on your roundabouts….
The city is run by the same people as OBE’s renters below.
To be honest, I kind of want googly eyes on museum statues, the more I think about it.
Bend is a mess in general.
California on the Deschutes.
I remember when the population was 20k.
Yes! Preach it brother! ODOT loves that shit and is adding it all over. Speed between Bend and Tumalo was permanently lowered after the construction.
This sudden “oh shit we elected a Marxist” bullshit is just performative nonsense.
You all knew exactly what he was and you wanted it.
Yup. And it’s not like he was hiding it or that the (honest) media did not provide plenty of evidence including numerous past quotes.
But yeah while the likes of WaPo writers surely wanted the cultural revolution, I think most of his voters really were ignorant of his views. They just wanted to larp at “revolution”.
Not that I give a fuck, but how is an “out lesbian” perving on the hot chicks in the ladies’ locker room substantively different from having a man in there?
I dunno but it has been my experience that the Female Gaze is far more prevalent and judgemental than the Male Gaze ever could be
None of my business, none of your business. It’s the ladies room, let them work that out. If you have a pecker stay out of the ladies spaces. Period.
Based on internet documentaries I’ve seen, it actually leads to greater understanding and fulfillment for both parties.
The house in Nevada wasnt a complete wreck. Messy and apparently a clogged kitchen sink for a few weeks though.
“We didnt know what to do”. Two $1000 super computers that fit in pockets and access to nearly all the worlds knowledge andthe knuckheads did nothing.
“Grab an allen key set, go under the disposal and turn the motor by hand.”
Instant drainage. Idiots dumped god knows what down the drain and after fishing out solid muck and resetting the disposal, all was well.
Even if you’re really that helpless, you didn’t call a plumber for several weeks?
Well they are our boys…so the failure really is on me. Only good news is one is holding fulltime job and school and the other is working three jobs so their time at home is a bed.
Ha! I was thinking renters like 4S. To be fair, when you’re starting out there’s some learning on the job.
They have gained an appreciation however on what it took for us to maintain the house while they ran amok as kids.
Damn, OBE, some renters don’t know how to use a phone and call the owner. As an ex-renter I would call the owner, get his advice, offer to pay and deduct the repair costs from the rent. Always, the owner was on top of things, he wanted to keep us in the house and keep us happy.
Every landlord is wicked, but don’t ever suggest there could be even one dishonest tenant….
Per a discussion we had last winter, did you ask them “What the fuck?”
Drove to Cleveland Friday night to see Lovebites (opening act: Edge of Paradise). The Winchester Music Tavern is the size of a shoebox and the place was pretty much at or over capacity. Overheard someone saying “Lakewood is not good at enforcing fire code.”
Based on activity at the merch table, no one was there for the opening band. Although they had a really good looking T that I would have bought just for the graphic, except $45. Based on a small sample of conversation, I’d guess a lot of the crowd was into the Japanese lady metal scene: multiple road trips to see Band Maid, Babymetal, and other Lovebites shows on this tour.
Sound was not bad, depending on where you were standing. The band brought minimal kit and was using the Winchester’s sound system, which was not arranged for people standing on the wings. Overall, I had a good time, greatest disappointment was that Lovebites only played for about an hour. But the tickets were cheap, and I was just happy to be able to see this band, in the US, and in Ohio.
$45 for a tyranny is twice what you’d pay downtown.
We won’t shame you for it, however.
I know nothing about them. I assumed they are a Judas Priest cover band until you explained. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Lovebites is a solid metal band, if you like technical guitar work (as opposed to melodic? I don’t know how else to explain that). And the drummer is a little monster. The vocal styling is a little ‘operatic” (again, don’t know how to explain that better) but I can live with it. Nominally the lyrics are in English. Good luck with that.
I heard Shonen Knife is touring the U.S. as well.
They already came through, they hit the Grog shop at the beginning of October.
Yeah. The Winchester is a tiny little club.
Spent some time (as a large number of Clevelanders did) living in Lakewood.
Neph, have you ever been to the Music Box?
Rapier wit
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) slammed President Trump on Saturday while attending a rally to rail against Texas’s successful redistricting efforts.
“We’re dealing with an invasive species by the name of Donald Trump,” Newsom told the crowd in Houston.
“He is an historic president, however. A historically unpopular president, under every key category,” he added.
Party of inclusion and respect.

Says the historically unpopular governor.
Newsom has long feuded with the president, but the beef intensified earlier this year when Trump refused to meet with him amid the California wildfires.
He didn’t come running to help when Newsom rattled his tin begging cup. What a monster.

While the left relies principally on social norms and peer pressure to silence disfavored speech, the right increasingly relies on state power.
Right out of the gate.
Say what now? Bizarro World here we come again.
I would have allowed that they both use the gun to silence speech.
They just completely ignored the Twitter files.
They were just suggesting duh! No one forced them to take down speech!
Remember that time when “the right” had federal agents embedded at social media companies issuing takedown orders for posts conflicting with the party line? It’s a good thing wOkE iS jUSt hAviNg GoOD maNnErS!
I guess Charlie Kirk was just peer pressured to be quiet.
Although we recognize that everyone has a right to denounce or shun someone for deviating from progressive or, for that matter, conservative norms, doing so fosters cancel culture and self-censorship. The challenge is how to minimize this chilling effect without weakening free speech, which is indispensable to higher education and a pillar of democracy in America.
Eisgruber asserts, for example, that student efforts to disinvite controversial speakers should be seen as “evidence of independence, not censorship.” While demands to rescind an invitation are protected speech, however, they can encourage self-censorship and marginalize dissent.
Eisgruber notes that it is difficult “to draw a principled distinction between illegitimate cancel culture and legitimate counterspeech.” But to borrow Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart’s observation about pornography, we often know it when we see it.
Okay, Humpty Dumpty.
disinvite controversial speakers
Lick that leftist asshole. What a contemptuous little toad the author must be.
Stupid idea to ‘pay’ citizens with tariff monies but what would happen if we all got checks and courts tried to claw it back?
I would have already bought ammo with it.
Breaking legs and handing out crutches. Part of the tariff revenue increase is from ending deminimis for individuals buying small items from overseas. Fuck the Orange retard. $45 bucks extra for my annual calendar purchases.
Stupid doesn’t cover it. $38 trillion in debt, Social Security less than a decade from collapsing, no hope of any attempt to even stop increasing spending, much less cut it, and you want to mail me a $2000 check? Oh wait, I probably count as high income.
The part of all this that makes me angriest is not that less than one percent of Congress even give lip service to fiscal responsibility, not even that the vast majority of the spending is actually harmful to the society, it’s that when our grandkids are grubbing for roots in the dark after it all comes crashing down I am absolutely sure that no one will learn the lesson.
“Trump promises $2,000 check for every American thanks to tariff revenue he’s collected”

He needs to stop with all the stupid gimmicks.
He can’t. He’s a huckster at heart.
I still haven’t cashed the $150 check that Gov. Kathy magicked out of thin air for us lucky New Yorkers on the day before Election Day.
Wait til Baylee’s partners start getting older. Too big won’t be the problem.
Surprised it’s not Haylee Baylee. At least her parents had good sense.
Moral clarity
Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race is more than an improbable municipal election win; it is a template for Democratic revival, one that can marry socioeconomic policies and message discipline to unambiguous moral clarity.
Property is theft.
Free everything is quite the concrete remedy
Glorious brutalist block houses for you to share rooms and your children with cultural enrichers.
Embrace the concrete Comrade!
*outright, prolonged laughter*
Holy fuck these useful idiots are gonna be sorely disappointed when their Marxist utopia fails to materialize.

FDRs fiscal policy was bad too.
What’s his point?
I don’t get it?
I think he means that just as FDR made it easier to be homeowner through longer mortgages, Trump has done the same thing to a greater degree.
Of course, most if not all of us here see the problem with paying more interest for the same thing.
I doubt very much Trump would have made a similar argument about student loans.
Debt is bad. Avoid it.
The significance of Mamdani’s triumph, and the lessons it underscores, cannot be fully appreciated without understanding the political context in which it happened. His campaign was fought under the shadow of organized disinformation and overt bigotry.
For months after his primary win, Mamdani faced an onslaught of Islamophobic attacks and thinly veiled suggestions that his faith and background made him unfit to govern — a pattern documented across mainstream media outlets as well as individuals online. Those criticisms were not incidental; they were designed to distract from the substantive arguments at the heart of the campaign and to erode the very principle of equal citizenship.
Democrats would never stoop to cheap ad hominem smears. They strictly rely on the moral superiority of their policies.
Flights cancelled. Travel will slow to a trickle. When do the articles about profiteering airlines commence?
Florida man
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Deputy Devin Jaramillo, 27, was shot Friday afternoon on the 12200 block of Southwest 128th Street after he responded to a traffic crash and was attacked by a suspect who got ahold of Jaramillo’s service weapon.
The attack was “not an ambush,” Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said Saturday.
She said Jaramillo responded to the “minor” traffic incident and got into a verbal dispute with a man who was involved, which escalated into a physical altercation.
“[The suspect] fought with our deputy and during that fight he disarmed our deputy of his own service weapon and used it to shoot him multiple times,” Cordero-Stutz said.
Must have been quite a difference of opinion.
That’s just around the corner from where I went to junior high.
