I’m so sorry! That’s news that I dread, having just found a dentist I really like within a short walk from my house (thanks to a recommendation from Tres Cool!) Our doctor’s office is likewise right around the corner (the entrance is in the back of the building, so we can see it from our back patio,) and the guy we’d been seeing there since we bought the place twenty years ago retired and sold the practice. Luckily, the guy who bought it is okay. I hope you have similar good luck!
Whatever you do, don’t get the practice sold to a corporate dentistry where they’re more interested in upselling procedures than positive outcomes.
That happened the first time my dentist retired. I found a different dentist – who then retired when the lockdowns hit.

That’s what drove me to switch dentists this last time. I don’t know if it was a corporation, but it was a couple of young guys who always seemed to want to do something expensive with my teeth.
I mentioned one of their recommendations to my new (current) dentist, and after he looked at my x-rays, he sent me a handwritten note explaining why he didn’t think it was necessary at that time. That’s one reason why I hope he doesn’t retire any time soon.
