HAPPENING NOW: New Glenn rocket launching two Mars orbiters and trying to auto-land the booster for the first time.

PEACEFUL LEFTIST MAKES IMPASSIONED PLEA: A Danville teacher is under investigation after a social media post drew concern from members of the school community. The post reportedly featured an image from a page called “Dream for America” showing a rainbow-colored gun pointed at a silhouetted head with the caption, “Put the pronouns back in the email.” The teacher identified by multiple sources as Dr. Sabrina Kent-Morris, teaches history and government at George Washington High School. JHTFC. Teaching History and Government to HS students, and according to this reporting previously taught civics and economics at a middle school. Danville is a city of 43,000 people. This isn’t just a single rogue teacher, or an isolated incident. They have burrowed in as good communists always do and have possibly ruined an entire generation; I don’t know how you can undo something like this. I had to dig for the uncensored image; the local ABC affiliate altered the image “due to its violent nature.”

FAFO: It has been revealed that a staff member of US Senator Tammy Duckworth’s office has been accused of falsely claiming to be an attorney to facilitate the release of a detained illegal migrant with a criminal record, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). I’m sure this person will claim that Sen Duckworth had no knowledge whatsoever about this.

WASHINGTON CITIES SHUT OFF SPY CAMERAS AFTER JUDGE RULES THE RECORDINGS ARE PUBLIC RECORDS: A win for privacy; a loss for the surveillance state.

STUDY SAYS: Fears of “global cooling” are back. For those too young to remember, Global cooling was what all the climate catastrophists were yammering about before they turned on a dime and started screeching about global warming. Your phrase for the day is Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. IOW, the climate may run AMOC.

SENSITIVE SATCOMS SUBJECT TO SNOOPING: Cybersecurity researchers have intercepted vast quantities of private voice calls and text messages, including potentially sensitive communications of government and military officials, transmitted over completely unprotected satellite communication links.

THE CORRUPTION WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT CLIMATE CHANGE: Exposing years-old concerns about California’s resilience to wildfires, a government whistleblower and other witnesses in a recent state trial alleged that cleanup operations after some of the largest fires in state history were plagued by mismanagement and overspending — and that toxic contamination was at times left behind in local communities. […] Still, the little-discussed trial provided a rare window into a billion-dollar public-private industry that is rapidly expanding — and becoming increasingly expensive for taxpayers and lucrative for contractors — given the increased threat of fires from climate change. GFY, LA Times.

AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH: Adolf Hitler had a hidden genetic disorder that would likely have hindered the development of his sexual organs, new analysis of his DNA has uncovered. The Nazi dictator had Kallmann syndrome, which can inhibit the normal progression of puberty, suggesting it is possible that he would have struggled to form sexual relationships. So, basically he suffered from a natural version of what people are now achieving artificially with puberty-blocking hormones.

Tune in for “Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS” on GlibFlick tonight. R.J. says he found an uncensored version.

Yep. My daughter listens to it everyday in junior high. She has learned to cope. She sees people turning into useful idiots every day. She comes home and vents on occasion.

The ruling stems from a civil case involving the Washington cities of Sedro-Woolley and Stanwood. Both sued to block public records requests filed by Oregon resident Jose Rodriguez. He works in Walla Walla and sought to access the images as part of a broader inquiry into government surveillance.

My cousin’s half brother used to live in Sedro-Woolley. Small world.

I wonder in what possible fucking universe the images collected by cameras placed in public, owned and operated by the government, would be anything other than “public data,” but I still find myself surprised a judge actually saw it that way.

    • DrOtto

My guess is they tried to claim the data as part of active criminal investigations.

      • Gustave Lytton

They cited privacy concerns as an excuse to prevent wholesale release. After claiming there were no privacy violations because the recordings were only of public views.

  10. Shpip

The teacher identified by multiple sources as Dr. Sabrina Kent-Morris, teaches history and government at George Washington High School.

    1) Why is it that everyone who gets an Ed.D. (which is nearly as intellectually challenging as obtaining a pest control certification) insists on being called “Doctor,” while everyone else with a terminal degree is pretty much “Call me Steve?”

    b) Apparently there’s no shortage of crazy in Danville (okay — it’s a really tragic story, but the ending is grimly comical).

I have a former friend who tried to insist on being called Doctor after getting his JD, and got very angry when I pointed out that 1. The degree was the same degree that was called a LLB in our parents’ day. 2. The advanced degree in law is the LLM not the JD, and 3. Anyone who is not an MD asking to be called Doctor is a douche. That’s not why he is a former friend though, his explaining to me that Netanyahu killed Charlie Kirk is why he is a former friend.

      • Ted S.

Ozymandias insisted on being called Doctor?

      • Pat

Anyone who is not an MD asking to be called Doctor is a douche.

This is a common refrain, and I disagree with it completely. The designation long predates its usage in the medical profession, and there is not one goddamn thing about medical training that makes it more worthy of recognition than advanced training in any other field, including underwater basket weaving. To be really technical, perhaps the only people who should be using the title are theologians and university professors who actually instruct students, since that’s what the term actually means. The MD or DO working at the walk-in clinic dispensing antibiotics for the clap isn’t any more special than a lawyer.

      • rhywun

Agree with Pat on this one that it’s appropriate for more than just medical doctors. Agree with (((Jar that anyone insisting on it is a douche.

      • (((Jarflax

It has nothing to do with being special. We now refer to medical doctors as doctor as the name of the profession because language changes, just as lawyers are called attorney, or sometimes councilor. It’s the insistence on people you encounter in daily life using an academic title that makes you a douche, MDS get a pass because that’s the common parlance for them.

      • trshmnstr

I struggle to work enough emotion to care either way. I do admit to putting people (excepting Germans, who seem to have a cultural tic) into a mental bucket when they insist on attaching their credentials to their name. It’s adjacent to the bucket for pronouns in signatures.

Meh, I suppose I’ll allow it, although I still want to see the language restored.

      • (((Jarflax

I forgot to add that the reason he was so insistent on being called Doctor was because he failed the bar twice and then gave up, so he was never an attorney, all he had was the JD

A HUD spokesperson said the agency “has not made any announcements regarding this program.” An agency spokesperson previously told POLITICO that “HUD is no longer in the business of permanently funding homelessness without measuring program success at promoting recovery and self-sufficiency. There will be more news on this much needed paradigm shift soon.”

    ——-

“This appears to be in contravention of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, undermines local decision-making authority, and ignores decades of research that has proven that permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing are less costly and more likely to be successful in providing long-term stability than other strategies, particularly for chronically homeless people and families,” said the letter, obtained by POLITICO, which was led by Sens. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Tina Smith (D-Minn.).

It is incomprehensible because it’s nonsense. “Permanent housing” means no questions asked and no requirements to work or demonstrate any capability to support oneself whatsoever.

“Supportive” means they throw money at NGOs to not provide the “support” that is supposed to mitigate the problems caused above.

The residents of the shithole across the street (brand new building – one apartment has already burned out) are now suing the management for not providing the “support”. Apparently seven managment teams have gone in and run out screaming. Oh, and all of this sits on top of a convention center that is supposedly infested with bugs and overflowing water from above.
