That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.

So, when are the real cuts going to start?
When we finally roll out guillotines?
Never, Trump likes Big Beautiful Government. Our last slim hope died when Elon got pushed out in a reprise of David Stockman under Reagan.
“Judge dismisses cases against ex-FBI Director James Comey, NY AG Tish James”
WTF is wrong with judges? #1,783
In this case, WTF is wrong with the Trump administration. They fucked it up. Deliberately???
Yep this was a case of self-own and a correct judgement in my opinion.
And it’s not the first time. They had this problem in the first administration with using recess appointments.
“WTF is wrong with judges? #1,783”
They believe the system exists to protect their criminal enterprises, to attack THEIR political enemies, and to keep down the peasants. And they use it as such with no shame, because so many ;lemmings cheer this shit on not realizing the system would gank them in a second if they got in the way of the elite?
This judge followed the law, the administration did not. If your dick is hard for the judge – you’re part of the problem.
My dick is hard for the deep state.
So, you’re ready to chuck the rule of law to save the rule of law.
I do not believe there is anything resembling the rule of law at this point anymore, and that there has been none of that for a while now – the system basically existing to be used and abused by the globalist marxist cabal – so my point is to give back harder than they have given.
So a prosecutor being appointed is totes a problem, but one being elected with the expressed purpose of “I’m gonna fuck that guy so hard he’s gonna walk with a limp” isn’t any sort of ethical violation. Got it.
^^^^THIS^^^^
The people claiming the judge was right in throwing this out IMO are absolutely wrong.
This whole thing is stupid. Sure it would be amusing to see Comey in prison, but it won’t fix anything. The one sliver of hope we had was for Trump to actually dismantle some of the administrative State, not get a couple individual enemies slap on the wrist convictions.
I really don’t eat soup, but everyone knows Progresso>Campbell.
I don’t often eat soup, but when I do – it’s random stuff from the fridge I threw in the pot.
I use it in some casseroles.
Only soup I buy is New England clam chowder: Cambells Chunky > Progresso
Cambells Chunky does have all these weird soups that sound gross, while Progresso has mostly reasonably traditional Italian soups.
Who are the crazy people who buy Manhattan clam chowder?
Clams and tomato isn’t a bad combination, though.
Likewise on the clam chowder.
And come chili.
I’ll stock up with whichever is on sale. Making soup from scratch is better than canned, but canned wins for convenience. It is about time to do the lazy slow cooker chicken soup again (dice up celery, onions, carrots, make a bed of them in the slow cooker, put a whole chicken and 8-12 cups of water on top, let cook for 6-8 hours, discard skin and bones, season to taste).
Sloopy and I have been making big batches of soups, chilis, etc. and freezing the remainder in giant vacuum sealing bags. We are hoping to over time get enough of them to never need canned soup again.
I guess this doesn’t help you if you are trying to fill an entire freezer with ziplocked soup, but they make silicone trays you can freeze soup in.
Ice cube trays?
You par-freeze in ziplock, then remove and then vacuum seal. Though they make bags you can seal with liquid too, but I find they arent as effective as you want them to be.
I wish they’d make can shaped vacuum sealers like they do with tupperware.
I think FoodSaver makes jars you can seal in?
Ice cube trays?
I guess if you eat soup out of a shot glass.
Campbell’s Chunky here. They have several flavors I really like.
I’m wondering what is so “wrong” about “food for poor people”.
Nothing. I eat rice and beans all the time.
(I know, you hate beans.)
I mean the gist of the linked article was shaming the executive for stating the fact that Campbell’s soup is food for poor people.
I guess only poor people are allowed to talk about poor people, or something.
I buy Progressive soup. It always sounds good on the outside, but when you open it to reveal the contents, it’s empty.
And yet it never shuts up.
And it’s the most expensive.
“The Department of War announced Monday that it has opened a formal review into allegations of misconduct against Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona over a video calling on service members to “refuse illegal orders.”
The Pentagon said it may even call Kelly, a retired Navy captain, back to active duty to face court-martial proceedings or other administrative actions under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”
IANAL, but that sounds like bullshit.
Is there some long-overlooked provision that authorizes keel-hauling?
Nothing will happen but he’s still a scumbag for pulling that.
I was going to ask you who “he” referred to, but then I realized the statement would be true in either case.
They’re not going to court-martial Kelly and everybody knows it. The announcement just makes them look weak and stupid.
The Trump administration is turning into a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. It’s not a surprise, but it is still disappointing.
It’s so odd that the Democrats have joined the Oathkeepers.

Apparently the superannuated child has yanked my credentials to Practiscore again. Rich is supposedly going to restore it, though I’m not completely sure he’s not on the backstabby little bitch committee.
It’s on the paper calendar for Sunday, 13:00.

Got it.
Man, if I were ever tempted to get into running matches…
I could just create a new account, but I’d rather not have the people currently shooting the KFGC games have a new account to follow.
I hate politics so goddamn much.
“Apparently the superannuated child has yanked my credentials”
“I need to clean the CZ shotgun.”
That seems a little extreme.
I’d never use a shotgun I like to murder someone.
Fortunately, there’s no record of my ownership of the Stoeger.
Food for thought – shotguns loaded with shot are basically impossible to ballistic match to the projectile. So as long as you pick up your empties…
(Please do not murder gun club members, even if they are assholes.)
Wouldn’t it be wild if an old guy at the club sold off his ammo supply for cash, retired to FL, and then died?
For that particular application, I would buy (with cash, of course) a box of shells that was different than anything else in my stockpile. And get rid of the unused ones. On the theory that, while they can’t match projectiles to a gun, but they could match them to others that you have.
Hypothetically, of course. I mean, not that I’ve given thought to this, or anything.

“”The doctrine is more protective of desk-bound bureaucrats concocting schemes to silence their critics” – a mix of “the incompetent and malicious” – than of “well-meaning police making split-second decisions about the use of force,” the libertarian public interest law firm said. “The doctrine should be, at a minimum,” limited to police.”
Sounds reasonable, but it shouldn’t be unlimited for police either.
The Court created qualified immunity, the Court can end it. Of course the Court will do no such thing. QI needs to be rammed down their throats and out their asses to make sure they get the fucking message.
So last night, I got woke up three times. Cats, kid, finally the damn smoke detectors decided they needed batteries at midnight. I wasn’t even a conscious creature when I got the ladder and started changing batteries. Since I am now in stately R.J. Manor, there’s nine of the damn things. I got four of them changed last night, they were the high priority. As I did this, I got more and more pissed off. Because I realized there’s absolutely no reason on God’s green earth to have a 9 V non-rechargeable battery in the smoke detectors. Some government wank somewhere froze the progress on smoke detectors probably 30 years ago and no one can move forward and put anything like a big capacitor or lithium ion cell or anything into these damn things that might last 20 years and not require someone to get on a ladder at midnight and change the fucking battery. Nope, this is the law, this is the grift. Some cousin of the government wank has a 9 volt battery factory. The damn thing get power from AC! They only need the battery for backup!
And don’t tell me “Oh you should just plan better and get those changed out early.” No, fuck you, stop acting my labor with your shitty solutions.
You should just wire you own separate power supply to replace the 9v battery
Look! Somebody made it and it was discontinued, most likely by concern trolls and grifters.
https://www.firstalertstore.com/store/products/brk-brands-hardwire-smoke-alarm-with-10-year-sealed-battery-9120lbl.htm
R.J.:
Those batteries didn’t last ten years. And when they started beeping, the only option is to disable them.
They’re supposed to be replaced every 7 years; I don’t think that’s just local code – they start beeping at that point.
Would you like a jelly baby?
They say the evil one eats babies.
Yes. Yes I would. Have you got root beer?
“The damn thing get power from AC! They only need the battery for backup!”
Then it should be a rechargeable battery.
Yes! Of course it should!
Wait, yours take AC? Mine are 100% DC.
You poor bastards.
/waits for the first story of a Chinese made battery igniting in a smoke detector
Which you can buy 9v rechargable….oh you mean one that will trickle charge the 9v?
Big Battery and Safety Alert! are in an unholy alliance to ensure a steady demand is readily available to them.
California’s are both AC and DC, like RJ’s. With the added proviso that every bed room has one, and a second floor landing. Which means you will likely have 3-4 within six feet of each other. And when the battery of one of them fails at the requisite 3am, you will have no idea which one it is, only that you will need a foot stool, clarity, and good luck to not kill yourself falling off the stool and down the stairs.
Ladders are #1 reason people get hurt at home. Lets roll Big Ladder into my conspiracy now….

Welcome to me 3 weeks ago…
“the damn smoke detectors decided they needed batteries at midnight”
I swear they have a clock for that exact purpose.
I replace the batteries in mine every year. New Year’s Day, in fact.
That’s an odd thing to do at midnight on New Years, but you do you.
I have been in this new house exactly six months. Granted, the things were up with batteries for longer than that. I noticed a trend: Ones with Duracells were fine. Some had “GP Powercell” batteries and those were all on the edge.
I have two more to check, I need to swap out to the big ladder for those.
I hope you didn’t get clawed too badly trying to put a battery in the cat.
Those AA’s slip right in with a little vaseline.
But what about the cat?
Yeah, I don’t know about your smoke detectors but mine don’t even have the little piece that snaps onto the contacts like literally every other thing in the world that takes 9V batteries. Instead there’s a little upside-down plastic tray that swivels out, then when you swivel it back in the battery hopefully hits the smoke detector’s contacts. Except on one of mine it doesn’t, so I have to keep a little scrap of paper folded up a bunch of times and shoved in there against the back of the battery to push it against the contact.
I have a harbor freight temp sensor that uses 9v and a couple or IR flashers I acquired in the army. Other than those the only things I have that use 9v are the smoke alarms. And they are wired to AC.

Apparently this exists, though I have yet to see if it’s of good quality.

Economically liberal and socially conservative?
That’s confusing.
Easier to remember if you call it National Socialism.
Shoe, She-wolf of the SS?
Economically liberal and socially conservative – aka the moron demographic. A lot of Romanians are that.
War-mongering whore bitches about historical ignorance and then displays ample of her own.
Borders drawn up by commissars in Moscow. There is no historical basis for that territory belonging to Ukraine. Hell there is more historical basis for Lviv being Polish than being Ukrainian. No one has a problem with Stalin’s actions there, do they?
I would be in favor of the partition of Ukraine.
Everyone knows when you are down to one city in Civ5, you sue for peace and give up all the war torn areas for the conqueror to clean up.
Civ games – where the AI will be rolling tanks over your stone age tribe by year 5.
UCS:
That’s the… opposite of my experience.
/remembers needing to hunt down some lone spear units with tanks and helicopters
Mr Ilium – it is 100% my experience with all of the series. Hyperagressive super cheaty AI that somehow starts five ages ahead of you.
The exponential curve in difficulty is jarring and designed for you to be hyper aggressive in military ops if you are to survive.
That’s awful
UCS:
The Civilization games have been notorious for the AI having advantages, especially at higher difficulty levels. I’ve always gone science first, production second, military third. The science gains bootstrap each other and the production gains help you to be able to mobilize forces if need be.
Especially in the early games (Civ 1 and 2, I think it was changed to cities in 3), you couldn’t get a destruction victory over a Civilization if they still had an active until anywhere on the map, so you would have to hunt down that lone early unit still auto-scouting.
I know the AI is infamous for not knowing how to play the game, but it rendered the games unplayable. I tried pretty much the same strategy you’re claiming.
The reason I never managed to ‘git gud’ is because the rapidity of failure made me leave to play other titles.
What happened to Athens?
Ghandi Nuked it.
“There is no historical basis for that territory belonging to Ukraine.”
Given the rather fluid nature of “nations” (not really) and borders in that part of the world prior to, say, the 19th or perhaps 18th century, it’s hard to say. Russia didn’t really have a durable claim on Ukraine until Peter the Great. Which, admittedly, is a pretty good historical claim. Of course, Russia itself technically disappeared as a sovereign nation during the Soviet Union, so there is no end of pedantic/technical points of dispute.
Pretty clearly, though, Russia is going to be able to assert the traditional claim, the last argument of kings, so to speak, over Ukraine in the not too distant future.
No one of course wants to mention the Stalin relocation of the Tatars of Crimea and the ensuing Russo-fication. Ain’t no ethnic Ukrainians in Crimea (and the eastern territories are the ones that mostly supported Yanukovych.
I’m bemused by the entire Swamp being full-blown warmongers. Faux News had some Dem on ranting to one of the dopey morning heads – nodding in agreement – about how Russia is planning to roll tanks across NATO unless the US sprays more money across the region and I could only SMDH.
How can anyone even attempt that argument? Russia has proven they can’t even roll over their next door neighbor; France and Germany are shitting themselves over THAT?
Before the war started, Ukraine had a far bigger and better army than Germany, France, or the UK.
It is silly of course. Why would Russia want their land?
France and Germany have allowed their militaries to degrade over several decades. Russia is not the power we thought. But Germany and France aren’t either.
Russia wants Euros [currency], in exchange for fossil fuels. I guess that is the European elites real issue.
Or they just have to have an external enemy in order to keep them unified.
Well if France and Germany in alliance can’t hold off Russia, they deserve to be crushed under the heal of someone.
I’m starting to think all of this is not about what they are claiming it is about.
The member of the left-wing Swapo party previously spoke about his infamous name after coming to global attention following his win in the Ompundja constituency.

Maybe his father did know.
Well, now we know for a fact that Hitler lead a left wing party, no matter what the commies say.

It doesn’t include Mars?
Why in the hell are we even allowing 84 year old people to run? You’ve got to be a minimum age – why not also under a maximum?
Austin people are leftists. They only voted for the old duffer because he is A RINO. Once that guy snuffs it, a commie goes in. Shamwow guy has no chance.
That region of the Austin area is filled with CA refugees who claim to be conservative, but still have Beto signs hanging in their garages.
You’re saying they won’t love his nuts?
Wonder if this is one of the districts the Republicans changed?
I thought he got arrested for beating up a prostitute?
If an 84 year old is healthy enough to be beating up hookers, he’s healthy enough for Congress!
Seems like an okay fit for congress. A little on the tame side, but he can learn.
Question for the
nerdstech people out here in Glibtopia: does anyone recommend a good Outlook alternative? For some reason the “new Outlook” has deleted a bunch of tools, and mine has now started randomly sending things to the delete folder automagically. Which has been costing me money, as I miss questions from potential sales.Proton is out, as I do not want another email address, but I am open to pretty much anything that is free.
I’ve been using Thunderbird for a long time. It’s gotten the job done well enough.
Will check out, thanks DEG.
“For some reason the “new Outlook” has deleted a bunch of tools, and mine has now started randomly sending things to the delete folder automagically.”
I will caution you about this assumption that your problem is the email tool. Just switching the email system will do nothing for you if the ISP is the culprit, and too many ISP providers now designate traffic as SPAM, when you would prefer they do not. It is far more likely that it is your ISP provider that is telling Outlook emails are junk/SPAM, and you might want to research a mechanism to disable that first (if you are lucky enough that their mechanism actually works as advertised, because some simply will keep doing the SPAM designation).
Two things: Thunderbird gets stressed and slows down if you have over a few hundred emails. That was my experience.
Proton- Yes, you need a Proton ID, but then you can redirect all your mail from other IDs to the one interface and it works pretty smoothly.
Nothing has all the functionality Outlook has, which is a pain. I’d pay good money for that.
Is that a new Thunderbird feature?
I don’t need that much functionality, just not randomly trash incoming mail and have a decent filing ability.
Does it think the in-coming mail is spam – you should be able to adjust that filter (worst case, shut it off entirely).
My spam folder is working as it should, so I don’t think it is that.
Look on alternativeto.net
Good site for finding software alternatives.
Will check it out! Thanks.

26 years – spanning 7 administrations. And anyone has hope that Trump is really going to fix this?
At this point it will require a civil war. I am starting to think we need it sooner than later. The collectivist got some things right. Like the only solution to people that get in the way is to make them fertilizer.
At least then the trains will run on time, right?
They’re giving it a decent go for the first time in my life. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But yeah, it ends the second a Dem wins – especially if it’s a Dem in Socialist clothing.
A huge problem is that Congress isn’t backing up whatever progress Trump makes, so President Whitmer will restore the old order before St Patrick’s Day in 2029.
That was needed around 1918 Alex.

The pastor arrived in his van and with the help of Enock, his wife Poppy and four other faithfuls, he marched Mr Mahalngu inside the church, where the group beat him up close to the altar.
I am unfamiliar with that Christian sacrament.
It’s more of an infidel thing.
It’s softer than the old school punishment. Hammurabi put thieves to death.
I don’t know. We live in a society where the criminal is fetishized and made the victim, given a pass over and over, while their victims are turned into the criminals for complaining there is no justice. If I had a choice, I would pick more of this letting the criminal have it shit.
Rather Islamic, isn’t it?
I’ve heard a lot of nominally Christian flocks around the world mix in local tribal stuff. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wait a minute – the wife was Poppy?!!!!
A lot of societal norms are solutions to a problem we have forgotten about. Remove those societal norms, and the problems come back.
Yeah, I don’t really have a problem with the pastor’s solution myself.

““The whole thing is a bit ridiculous,” said Heidi Beirich, co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, which tracks extremist movements worldwide, “because the groups designated by the administration barely exist and certainly aren’t terrorists.”
In a release put out earlier this month, the Trump administration, which has made no secret of its hatred for leftists in the US and abroad, named Antifa Ost in Germany, the Italy-based International Revolutionary Front, and two organisations in Greece – Armed Proletarian Justice and Revolutionary Class Self Defense – to its long list of designated terrorist organizations….
Members of Antifa Ost are accused of attacking neo-Nazis in eastern Germany, often using store-bought hammers, as well as other acts of violence against the far-right scene in the country. Sometimes, Lord said, that includes using rudimentary incendiaries….
In the US, during the many Black Lives Matter protests following the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Trump called for the terrorist designation of anti-fascists. But the organizing principles of American and international anti-fascist activism is openly decentralized and mostly unorganized. Money and financial resources are known to be scarce among activists.”

I listened to a podcast where they interviewed and ex-antifa/black bloc guy and it’s more that there is a movement and people kind of show up and drift between the different flavors of extreme activists. It’s not like there’s a formal membership list.
That being said, they do have places they meet to plan protests and make equipment for their riots, so there is an element of organization.
There is a web of I would guess hundreds or thousands of NGO front-groups feeding them money and support. And they operate in “cells” like any other terrorist group precisely to escape attention and claim “Oh, we’re not a Group group.”
Of course. This is exactly the way that terrorist groups organize the world over, ranging from the IRA in the 20’s and 30’s to the hard-left European groups in the 70’s to Al-Qaeda today.

Sure idiots can make the argument that they are not terrorists, but they are definitely shock troops for an evil cabal with an evil agenda, and that makes the label of terrorist quite apt.
“Among the posts made by Cupp was one in which he is seen folding up a middle finger with text over his face that states in all capital letters, “Allaah took everythimg (sic) from me and knocked me on my a** to send me off on the Yahya Sinwar road to socialism for Portland. I call bullsh*t on these ‘revolutionary’ groups. Would you actually kill and die for our young people? Building that unitary mission until I flop over, my brains are on the sidewalk, or they dump me in a cell. Allahu akbar, power to the people!””

Certainly not mentally ill to the point of incompetence.

The century-old partnership between the U.S. military and Scouting could be coming to an end.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning for the military to sever all ties with Scouting America, saying the group once known as the Boy Scouts is no longer a meritocracy and has become an organization designed to “attack boy-friendly spaces,” according to documents reviewed by NPR.
In a draft memo to Congress, which sources shared with NPR but which has not yet been sent, Hegseth criticizes Scouting for being “genderless” and for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
The military has provided support to the Scouts for more than 100 years, assistance that was formalized in 1937. But in one memo, Hegseth says, “The organization once endorsed by President Theodore Roosevelt no longer supports the future of American boys.”
More performance art.
Scouting has lost its way.
Big time…
Yes, was looking at it recently for a knot refresher (remember it had a tying board with a bunch of ones I never use on it) and looked at their website. It’s unrecognizable to me. And I can see the seeds of it back from when I was in it.
Destroying male-only spaces has been a big goal of the left for decades. Boys are just defective girls, anyway.
Betas do what they are told.
It’s ritilan for all of you!
A little bit more than performance art – I seem to recall that any Eagle Scout who enlists in the US military gets an automatic promotion to E-3 after completing basic.
That’s a lot of investment for not much promotion.
He’ll be passed over for E4 by an E1 that enlisted at the same time because it wasent fair that he got E3 to start. I witnessed that a lot in my time in.
Song of the South is on that ok.ru site.
Excellent. Thanks.
I downloaded the 543 MB file from archive.org. It’s only 640 × 480 but it looks OK.
As far as I can tell, the only versions on YouTube are the 1:18 edited versions, not the 1:34 original. I guess they removed stuff that was too racist?
I have not reviewed.
Word on the street is that the Archive 4K is completely unedited.
The 4K is huge.

Are you guys on holiday mode now too? Looks like my coworkers are starting to take chunks of time off. Today my youngest gets into town. And officially, the Nimitz is “relocating to the Western Pacific”, aka it’s finally on the way home.
Glad to hear the Nimitz on the move back home.
Home right now means decommissioning, right?
My kid is ecstatic. It will end up being a 9 month deployment. She did see her husband for a few weeks this summer when his mom died. They’re going to see Oregon and California over Christmas before he’s back out.
Alex, that is the plan. It will take about 4 months to sail around the tip of South America to Virginia (sounds like a lot of port visits). The Pentagon wants to keep to the original time table (I think January) but they crew wants to push it off a bit since they’re just getting back. We’ll see who wins. It does seem like the people pushing for the Nimitz to stay in service have lost.
I’m not sure if it’s holiday mode or just disengagement from the current job.
Embrace the power of “and”.
Wife and boy took the week off from homeschool only for all of us to get sick. Fun stuff. We spent the last couple days building Lego sets.

Anyone think she might be a deep state op agent yet? Cause I certainly find it weird ScrewTube has not only not banned her yet, but is tweaking shit to grow here presence.
Wait, aren’t we all deep state agents or useful idiots?
With DOGE being dismantled (quietly) snuffed the last hope out of me that the GOP or any of the voters have any appetite for fiscal restraint. It also leaves me apprehensive about the future because I have two young daughters who be able to enjoy the same America that I grew up in.
Just a thought.
*who won’t be able to*
Yeah, the debt, I think, is going to be much the bigger issue than anything else (barring alien invasion or something similar). I don’t think Trump really ever planned to cut spending. It seems he just wanted to cut some things and then throw more money at things he liked. That said, I still get pissy thinking about TOS and Cato and a bunch of other places that couldn’t bring themselves to offer any support for DOGE. They could still have gone full bore on some of the stupidity but complemented it with some polite applause for other initiatives. Unfortunately, they just couldn’t do that.
Obviously, there’s been a lot written about debt but, although I haven’t read it myself, I’ve read some pretty detailed analysis of Ray Dalio’s “How Countries Go Broke” and it seems to have a lot of good points.
Indeed, RN. Sooner or later, our current path leads to the collapse of the dollar, which will take down the economy, which will likely take down civil society. In hindsight, it will be apparent that everything else was just noise.
The frustrating part is that they all know the end result but are too scared to do anything about because their financial backers and voters would primary them in a heartbeat. I’m also pretty sure that Trump, Thune, and Johnson have been told on multiple occasions that the cliff that we’re headed towards is coming sooner than later but are too chickenshit and lack the will to do anything about it.
“is that they all know the end result”
I’m not sure I agree with this. I think about five generations of pseudo-Keynesian thinking and a lot of class envy are at work here. I think there are a lot of politicians and bureaucrats who just want to raise taxes on the rich (bad), stop handouts to corporations (good), and cut defense spending (mixed) believing that will solve problems. And, among a lot of voters, there were people who were truly horrified at all those poor government employees losing jobs.
No doubt some people know what’s coming, but there are a lot of people out there who have very poor economic understanding.
Part of it for me is the sheer size of the debt. I think it’s got to the point where it really can’t be repaid.
The cynical view would be that Trump, et al, are perfectly aware that it’s already too late to forestall a collapse, and they’re just trying to give the patient a few more comfortable years (while making sure that their own nests are amply feathered…)
I don’t like this interpretation. It makes me feel a bit too close to the doom-and-gloom end of the environmental cult. But that doesn’t mean it’s not accurate…
The one thing that we need above all else is a reduction of the size, cost and power of the Federal Government, unfortunately that is the thing it resists the most. I hope your daughters, and my nieces and nephews find a way to build something good from the wreckage we are passing them.
I think the only way a reduction happens is when either the electorate sees the importance of it (hahaha) or when some financial implosion happens (more likely to happen). I’m a city boy but I sort of want to teach my daughters some basic survival skills but also hope to instill in them the importance of self-sufficiency, accountability, and discipline so they can weather the upcoming storm.
Most people I talk to are stuck in this mindset that SS, Medicare, and the military are too important to cut and would result in some kind of existential catastrophe.
My view is that, yes, there’s going to be a collapse if the federal government keeps up the policy of “just put it on the credit card” and there won’t be money for those things anyway.
It’s not a question of IF we’ll cut spending or not, it’s HOW. Do we want to have a structured, organized decrease that aims to minimize the hardship caused to innocent people, or do we want to reach the breaking point and experience an overnight collapse?
A million virtual monkeys on a million virtual keyboards
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday afternoon launching a new federal effort to supercharge American artificial intelligence research, development and scientific applications.
Unveiling the new “Genesis Mission” to support American efforts on AI, the order charts out a series of steps to expand computational resources, increase access to vast federal datasets and move toward impactful, real-world applications, particularly in scientific fields.
“The Genesis Mission will dramatically accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen national security, secure energy dominance, enhance workforce productivity, and multiply the return on taxpayer investment into research and development,” the order states.
Maybe they’ll devise a plan to wipe out humanity.
I guess we can throw all that money DOGE saved us at it.
“The Genesis Mission will build an integrated AI platform to harness Federal scientific datasets — the world’s largest collection of such datasets, developed over decades of Federal investments — to train scientific foundation models and create AI agents to test new hypotheses, automate research workflows, and accelerate scientific breakthroughs,” the order reads.
Next stop, Skynet.
Lynne Parker, who co-chaired the NAIRR task force as deputy chief technology officer of the U.S. under President Joe Biden and is now associate vice chancellor emerita at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, said federal support for AI research is pivotal to future progress.
“Government support for AI research builds the foundation for new breakthroughs and helps keep innovation aligned with the public interest,” Parker told NBC News. “We take for granted that new products appear regularly but seldom consider the decades of research that made them possible.”
“Without long-term investment, we risk ceding leadership in the technologies that will define our economy, our security, and our daily lives,” she said.
Something something mine shaft gap.
Just like the arms races of the past – we can just keep spending on this until the CCP folds. What could possibly go wrong.

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has appointed more than 400 people to 17 transition committees that will help with his transition to City Hall.
The committees cover housing, transportation, community safety, economic development, government operations, immigrant justice and technology — among others.
Mamdani is also adding committees on worker justice and community organizing, which have not been part of previous mayoral transitions.
Laser focus on making the city government more efficient and productive. To serve man.
It’s a cook book!
Hit the ground grafting!
And like any good socialist government, every Committee will be pursuing the exact opposite of what it claims to be doing.
Socialists only see government as a means to enrich themselves and have power over people. Orwell made the observation with the pigs in Animal Farm.

Yep. I had a ‘95 Ford Ranger. It was nice.
People bitch about painted metal interiors like they are a bad thing.
I want painted metal interiors again. I hate the plastic and all the failure it brings.
Aside from housing, transportation and other traditional fields, the team is adding Worker Justice and Community Organizing.
Bhairavi Desai of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance heads the worker justice committee.
“In a city with tourism, service and hospitality industries worth billions, the working class-which is largely people of color and immigrants-do the work that allows rest and leisure. That labor, that dedication to excellence for our city, should be treated with respect,” Desai said.

Living wage!
Living wage!
That commie is a big part of why taking a taxi is already unaffordable to the great majority of the “working class” she claims to care so much about. The last time I visited it was like 30 bucks to travel a couple miles.
As I expected they’re clearly going for kakistocracy – much like Joe Biden but on steroids.
Did they break down the people hired by race, gender, and a few particular religions?
I was watching France24 this morning to improve my Frog Language comprehension… They had some “expert” calculating the relationship between climate change and violence against women. They calculated that a 4 degree Celcius increase will triple the rate of spousal violence.
Good god, that channel is fucking deranged sometimes. But I’m not sure what other French-language news network has a 24/7 live feed on YouTube, and I doubt it would even be different.
Calculated? They keep using that word but I do not think they know what it means.

I have absolutely no idea how or why the “car” companies are still in business.
I watched some short stupid youtube thing last night about “What will NASCAR do when there is no such thing as a “stock car” built in America?
I heard a quip that “GM is not a car company – it’s a pension and healthcare company that also makes cars.”
Calculated? They keep using that word but I do not think they know what it means.
You just plug numbers into the model until it pukes up the result you’re looking for.
You’re giving them a lot of credit, assuming that there’s even a model…
Then when your predictions don’t match, change the model to retroactively be accurate.
Remember when guys bought pickups because they were cheaper than cars?
And they hauled rocks and dirt in the bed.
Modern pickup beds and tailgates are terribly thin weak and plastic.
They should be 16 gauge mild steel with no plastic parts or overlapping edges.
I broke the tailgate cap on my ‘18 Chevy this summer simply dragging a dead engine block out of the bed. The tailgate when open is not level with the bed, it’s about a 2 degree angle or higher. Designers have never owned or used a pickup in their lives.
Wheel wells need to be a separate bolt in part so they can be replaced as damaged. Along with the front panel.
