WebDom migrated us to a different host last night and it took a while for DNS info to propagate. She’ll have to re-migrate the missing comments and that may take a couple of days since she has baby, husband, business, dogs, a personal life, and (God bless her) OMWC.

The comments are all yours.

Huh. I’m surprised that with my Loser Aura, I wasn’t driving past that photo shoot with Mrs. Holiness. Trying to Lizard Eye* that scene.

I just watched a bit of White Lotus and I was surprised at how unsexy SS was in that. Maybe it was just her character was so annoying (but she didn’t even crack the Top 10 in the annoying characters in that show).

      * Lizard Eye is when you learn to independently rotate your eyes. The eye nearest your beloved stares straight ahead, while the other eye swivels to ogle an attractive young lady. If you can’t do it, come to Minnesoda and enroll in the Quality Leering Center.

I watched the first episode of White Lotus and noped out – I hated every character.

        Slumsy:

I hate watched it over a couple years. Like you, I hated everyone in that show. They were all horrible.

I finally just finished the first season the other day because I remembered that SS was in it. Watched the last 2 episodes to see if she was super hot and I just forgot. Nope. Meh.

Should have had more people killed off in that show.

“Kristi Noem has been left utterly humiliated as her hard-charging ICE agents were given new rules last night to ignore ‘agitators’ and only arrest ‘criminal’ migrants as part of Trump’s new deportation agenda.

Border czar Tom Homan confirmed during a Thursday morning press conference in Minneapolis that immigration agents would be moving forward with ‘targeted, strategic, enforcement operations.’

Trump appointed Homan to take command of immigration enforcement in Minnesota. Homan is a longtime rival of Noem and her rumored lover, Corey Lewandowski.”

I’m not convinced that it was a good shoot, but I am rather convinced that Alex was on to a path leading to being involved in a killing in some capacity.

Chasing that rush of being the righteous rebel — when you’ve gotten away with it — was only going to lead to escalation. Unfortunately he didn’t get sent to rehab before the OD.

I think it can be useful to draw distinct lines between a ‘good shoot’, a ‘legal shoot’, and an ‘understandable shoot’. The Pretti killing was probably the second and third but not the first.

I was thinking for a long time, before all the MN fraud stuff started, that Walz had peaked with his VP run

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday that his time as an elected official will permanently end when he finishes his term as governor.

“I will never run for an elected office again. Never again,” Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee, said in an interview with MS NOW.

Walz had said this month that he would not seek re-election as governor — sending shock waves through state and national politics — but he did not go so far as to say he would not consider another elected position down the line.

      • Ted S.

Oh, he’s guilty as sin, but the political class will protect him.

    • Rat on a train

I’m unelectable even in solid D areas so I will seek an unelected position.

    • Pope Jimbo

This will end up being technically correct.

He won’t run for office. His plan is for Special K to win the Governorship and then appoint him to her vacant Senate seat.

Of course, in four years he will run for another term in the Senate. Probably win too.

“Fitness model Sarah Lloyd is no stranger to intense training, having competed in ultra-marathons and being an avid gym-goer.

The 25-year-old, who hits the gym every day without fail, normally loves working out — but during a recent group session, she “panicked” after a specific ab exercise saw her oxytocin levels rise as she fought back an orgasm….

Nicknamed “coregasms,” exercise-induced orgasms are fairly rare — but certainly not unheard of. Dr. Debby Herbenick, a sex researcher and author of “The Coregasm Workout,” estimates that roughly 10% of people have them.

“They generally feel similar to orgasms from vaginal intercourse, but they tend to be more dull, less intense, and more tingly,” she told Self.”

POCATELLO — A local advocacy group will rally Saturday at Caldwell Park to protest the fatal shootings of two people by ICE agents in Minneapolis.

Southeast Idaho Citizens for Democracy is inviting people of all backgrounds and political affiliations to participate in a peaceful assembly beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday to show support for Minneapolis, immigrants and democracy. A group of local residents have also organized a silent vigil at the park at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Community speakers and event organizers will begin Saturday’s protest with brief comments before participants march to the nearby Bannock County Courthouse. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own signs and flags.

Local social worker and organizer Steve Neiner said the protest was organized to stand in solidarity with Minneapolis protesters after ICE agents killed 37-year-old mother Renee Good and 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti.

    Morning all.
Just my two cents: Hashing out the details of what ICE is doing, the shootings, arrests, etc is pointless.
The blame for all of this rests firmly on the so called Biden Administration, Obama and his crowd and the democrat party as a whole. Their strategy of flooding the country with third world serfs whose cultures are completely incompatible with our own and their Machiavellian all-consuming hunger for total power forever has led us here. They have spent at least three generations skin-suiting academia to create an army of useful idiots.
It is easy for me to see how other systems descend into tyrannies. After a while the urge for Hulk to SMASH becomes irresistible.

Now if I understand this correctly, I need a passport to go to Canada, Canadians need a passport to come to the US. As a tourist to Canada I am interrogated as to my purpose, length of stay, etc. I’m not allowed to work without some type of Canadian approval. I speak broken Canadian and on a good day could pass for a native (not in Quebec) .

I could not pass for a Mexican. But yet, but yet, Mexicans and others can come via the Underground Railroad, the fewer papers the better. I understand that they mostly come to work. OTOH who was doing the work before they showed up?

My kids were lucky enough to grow up in the era of fast foods jobs, move from place to place, pick up a few skills along the way and earn a little spending money. There were fewer paying jobs for kids in the ’50s-’60s and now I see a lot of older (and I mean older) folks doing those fast food jobs.

The work would get done, the jobs the newly arrived are taking, by someone.

      • DEG

As a tourist to Canada I am interrogated as to my purpose, length of stay, etc.

Can confirm but only if the border guard is a native English speaker. The interrogations were borderline harassment, and twice I was pulled aside.

Native French speaking Canadian border guards by comparison basically wave me through the border, with one exception. I’ll get a question about how long I’ll be in Canada, why I’m going to Canada, and not much else. The exception was a good looking French-Canadian woman border guard that was flirting with me for a bit before she waved me through.

    • CatchTheCarp

I remember to the first I flew into Montreal to attend a work related meeting. The customs official asked the purpose of my visit. I said it was to attend a meeing for work. I was instantly detained and moved to an interogation room where I was questioned about the nature of my “work”. No one warned me to never use the word “work” when going thru Canadian customs.

“I think it’s important to understand that even though we’re in Idaho, and a lot of what we’ve been seeing has been happening in other places, there is an ICE presence in Idaho,” Neiner said. “Our state leadership has said that they are utilizing our own state resources to assist them. There’s legislation going before the Senate this week to continue funding this lawless effort to intimidate Americans. If we don’t push back against it now, it’s very possible that we’ll see it come our way to Idaho. That’s not democracy. That’s something else.”

We absolutely don’t want state and local authorities to cooperate in the enforcement of federal law. That would be fascism.

Besides, the likelihood of seeing some delusional idiot get shot would plummet.

The depraved sex marathon kicked off when McKenna Kindred, now 27, invited her 17-year-old student from Spokane’s Central Valley High School to the house she shared with her lawyer husband, Kyle Kindred, in November 2022, the Daily Mail reported….

The footage, which began circulating this week online, captures Pretti yelling “Assault me, motherf*cker!” at federal officers during an anti-ICE encounter. Family members later confirmed to the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the man seen in the video is Pretti.

The newly released clip is a different angle of footage that showed Pretti confronting federal agents on January 13, 11 days before his death. That earlier bystander video showed Pretti approaching Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who were blocking a street, shouting at them, kicking a government vehicle’s tail light out, and spitting towards agents. There’s your mistake….

      • PieInTheSky

It was not all that good of a post… I usually create a backup after they publish… If it is gone it is gone we’ll see.

“Former Washington Gov. Jay Inslee drew sharp backlash online Wednesday after urging Senate Democrats to add language to an upcoming spending bill that would prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from congregating near polling sites on Election Day.

Inslee described the restriction as a “must have,” calling it the “last chance” to prevent what he characterized as a potential voter-suppression tactic. “In the midst of ICE horror, the Senate needs to prohibit Trump from using ICE as a voter suppression tool,” he said, adding that Senate Democrats should “put into the appropriations bill a prohibition on ICE agents being near polling places,” according to comments circulated by critics…

Inslee’s call comes as Virginia lawmakers weigh a proposal that would create a buffer zone for immigration enforcement near election sites. HB1442, introduced in the 2026 Virginia session, would prohibit anyone from performing acts “for the purpose or in furtherance of enforcement of federal immigration laws” within 40 feet of a building used as a polling place, as well as certain election-administration locations, such as recount sites.”

    WTF??

    • Dr. Fronkensteen

Well you don’t want ICE picking up illegal immigrants before they vote.

According to what I have seen here (I don’t follow this stuff in the wild), that Pretti character had a broken rib from a previous encounter. What kind of drugs does one need to take to think putting oneself in a position to get bodyslammed by the cops while you have a broken rib is a good idea?

A fracture in a straight section of track “occurred prior to the passage” of a high-speed train that derailed, causing last Sunday’s rail disaster in which 45 people died, an initial report has found.

A train run by private company Iryo derailed last Sunday and its rear carriages crossed on to the opposite track into the path of an oncoming train run by state-owned Renfe.

The CIAF rail investigation commission said not only did Iryo train’s front carriages which stayed on the track have “notches” in their wheels, but three earlier trains that went over the track earlier did too.

A gap of almost 40cm (15in) in the track has become the focus of the investigation into the crash.

    Extortion racket

Some universities paid the government millions of dollars; others paid nothing but agreed to policy or personnel changes. But a common theme has emerged over the past year: The administration is seeking to alter the culture at these powerful institutions, barring them, for instance, from supporting programs aimed at diversity, equity and inclusion.

    ——-

But Trump’s use of federal funds to force changes has raised questions from constitutional scholars about whether his tactics violate the law.

“What I find striking and disturbing about what’s happened here,” says Thomas Berry, the director of constitutional studies at the libertarian Cato Institute, “is that the federal government started by simply pausing all of this funding” without proving its allegations.

Berry says that Cato doesn’t love the idea of private universities being dependent on federal funds. But he also says the government shouldn’t use that relationship to meddle in how schools would normally operate.

Why on earth not? What possible justification could there be for showering those schools with no-strings-attached loot?

Don’t like the strings? Cut them.

whether his tactics violate the law

What about the racist tactics called for by “programs aimed at diversity, equity and inclusion”? Do those illegal practices violate the law??

JFC just how useless is Cato anymore?

“To me, it’s a blatant violation of the unconstitutional conditions doctrine of the First Amendment,” says Berry.

Thank you Webdom for the relatively smooth transition. I couldn’t bring the site up last night and wondered, but my internst has been stuttering and stammering so I blamed it on that.

Hope everyone is warm, safe, and not to agitated.

    • PutridMeat

      I blamed it on that.

I had just installed monocle (neat, but doesn’t fit my … “work” … flow – or I’m just not used to it), so I blamed SlumBrew. Even though I was seeing the same issue on a different browser and different machines, so it couldn’t possibly be that. I cursed him anyway.

      • slumbrew

Hah! My first thought when things kicked off was “Jesus, I hope I didn’t break the site somehow…”

  35. slumbrew

If anyone is playing with my Monocle update, I just pushed a new version (4.2.0)

    https://gitlab.com/glibertarians/forumProject/-/blob/Eyepiece_v4/monocle.user.js

It adds exponential back-off to the polling for new comments – 10s to start, jump to 20s after 6 tries, 40s after another 6, etc., up to 320s. Any new comments restart the cycle.

Now that the site is back I’ll see how things work on my iPad & Android phone.
