The POLAR VORTEX cold weather has moved back in, and we’ve been blanketed in snow. I have one perfect NFL playoff bracket so far, which has the Broncos, Patriots, Seahawks, and Bears winning this weekend. I’m pretty confident in the Broncos and Seahawks pick at this point, the Patriots game will likely be a comedy of errors, and if the Bears have the ball at the end of the game, they’ve got a chance. Feel free to mock my picks if you wish. But enough about that, let’s get to some links.

Is this attempt number 3? Or has there been more.

I’m not entirely opposed to the idea.

For fuck’s sake. This is going to make me drink

Sometimes too much to drink is barely enough.

I was born a poor black child.

This seems to be a pretty big development.

I’m more annoyed by glaringly incorrect “AI Summaries”, but I don’t have an issue with this suit.

No.

It’s been cold, and I’ve been fighting off a head cold, so I’m going simple on the drink today.

Hot Buttered Rum

  • 2 ounces rum (spiced punches it up more, but is not necessary)
  • 1 tablespoon compound butter (recipe below)
  • Hot water

Pre-heat the mug you’ll be serving this in by filling it with boiling water. When the mug has been warmed, empty it out, put in the rum, butter, and top with hot water. Whisk until everything is incorporated, and enjoy. If you didn’t grind the spices down fine enough, then you’ll want to pour it through a fine mesh strainer to get the bits out.

Hot Butter Rum Batter:

  • 1 stick of butter at room temperature
  • ½ cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • Pinch of salt

Grind the spices fine, and mix everything together until it’s well blended, wrap in wax paper and store in the fridge.

With that, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
