Not nearly as eventful as last week but what are you going to do?

¡Enlaces!

Inadvertent” implies they did it by mistake.

This is unnecessary, we can take care of the cartels.

If they make flag football an olympic sport, I can’t see how I can take it seriously.

*Eurocuck opinion discarded*

Seems Machado about nothing.

Yes. Make Ricky Ricardo Great Again!

You know what? If he wasn’t dead I wouldn’t have looked the band up.

Now all you need is a couple mil and a couple more to fix it up. Check your couch for change before you make an offer.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

We have several of those littered about. Not nearly as expensive, and definitely NOT in NY.

If it has a historical society of some sort attached, however, just say no.

    • The Other Kevin

You could just leave it as-is, and start wearing veils and putting strange lights in the windows.

    I wasn’t aware that putting on a dress is a get-out-of-having-to-respect-national-sovereignty card.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

Why not? It’s seen as a valid reason to put away the last several thousand years of culture AND science.

Apparently Puerto Vallarta is very LGB friendly, and maybe T too. Send xir there.

The king of mediocrity stepped aside and reportedly it was because his fragile ego couldn’t take knowing that some segment of the fanbase didn’t appreciate him enough and had the gall to think he should be fired after 19 seasons. What a fucking clown.

Yes, I’m going to take personal credit for ending this nightmare for Steelers fans.

    • CPRM

Matt Lafleur seems poised to take Tomlin’s place in the run of mediocrity.

    • rhywun

But now he’s gonna land a commentary spot somewhere with weekly national exposure. I haven’t heard him. Is that going to suck?

    • Grumbletarian

He’ll wind up in the Hall of Fame at some point. Ugh.

    • Nephilium

Also likely to keep his “no losing season” streak alive, because WTF are the Stillers going to do for a QB next year?

      • juris imprudent

Is Darnold signed for more than this year in Seattle?

      • slumbrew

Yes, signed a 3-year contract this year, tho Seattle can cut him after 1 for underperformance (which seems unlikely, even if he’s not as good as his fans say).

    • KSuellington

Hope you like his commentary as it looks like he is gonna get a teevee deal.

Mexico is one of the deadliest countries in the world for transgender people, according to the Trans Murder Monitoring Project. Though the full scope of risk to transgender people in Mexico is unclear, journalists and advocacy groups have documented pervasive – and often fatal – violence.

So are the judge and CNN advocating we invade Mexico now? I mean if it’s unsafe for trans our silence is violence.

    • The Other Kevin

Is it deadly for non-trans people too? If there’s a high murder rate for everyone, then of course it’s a high murder rate for trans people.

I’m just assuming they are being dishonest.

      • rhywun

Yeah, I am unlikely to trust anything the “Trans Murder Monitoring Project” has to say any further than I could throw it.

    • Tonio

How much of that anti-trans violence is a direct result of gender fraud on the part of the trans ppl?

      • rhywun

Most trans murders – at least in the US and according to that Ngo guy – are domestic violence (which probably includes such fraud) or drug deals gone wrong. I have no reason to believe Mexico would be very different in that regard.

    • KSuellington

Mexico is one of the deadliest countries in the world for transgender people, according to the Trans Murder Monitoring Project.

Funny enough they have some extremely strict gun control laws. They make NYC look lenient.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Me info is also one of the most dangerous countries on earth for non-trans people too.

  5. Shpip

Mexico is one of the deadliest countries in the world for transgender people, according to the Trans Murder Monitoring Project.

Since entering the US in 2003, Uriostegui Rios has racked up a lengthy criminal history that includes convictions for disorderly conduct, sexual solicitation and DUI

Apparently, Mexican johns are even more violent than our homegrown ones when they discover that the girl they paid to have sexual relations with turns out to be a dude.

    • Brochettaward

There are some real pretty Latinas. There’s also some more “indigenous” looking ones who are pretty fucking masculine. Pretty easy to be a trap there I guess.

    • The Other Kevin

Didn’t Trans Murder Monitoring Project used to tour with Emerson, Lake & Palmer?

      • R.J.

They provided additional backup instruments on “Tarkus.”

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I think it was the original name for the Trans Siberian Orchestra.

      • Sensei

I thought it was a different group who played the West Village Halloween Parade.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

Apparently, Mexican johns are even more violent than our homegrown ones when they discover that the girl they paid to have sexual relations with turns out to be a dude.

      Ding ding ding!

Basically, they’re arguing that it’s safer to commit crime in the US than in Mexico.

      Sorry, dude. GTFO.

  6. UnCivilServant

So… anyone else ever sneeze so hard it realigned their spine and they went “Wow, my back feels so much better”.

    • The Other Kevin

That’s lucky. I have sneezed and pulled a back muscle, so the opposite.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

I’m in TOK’s boat. Beside clearing out some snot, I can’t claim to have seen any benefits from sneezing, and even the clear snot is a wash because it ends up on my hand/elbow/shirt/wall/windshield/steering wheel.

      • The Other Kevin

I have also injured my shoulder getting out of bed. But that’s just the fun of getting older. Both of those things were a long time ago. I just have brain damage now, other that that I’m in the pink!

      • kinnath

        getting older

If I exercise, I hurt. If I don’t exercise, I hurt. Just in a different way.

I have no memory of a time of a truly pain-free day.

I am far from being in any serious pain. It’s just the aches and pains of being a senior citizen (learning to getting used to admitting that).

        I miss being only 50. 😉

    • CPRM

I’ve had my spine pop from a sneeze, but it didn’t make my back feel better.

      • R.J.

        *Inserts STEVE SMITH joke

    • Shpip

So… anyone else ever sneeze so hard it realigned their spine

You mean all the little bones re-vert to factory settings?

This could be an interesting disc-ussion.

      • juris imprudent

No surprise you slipped that in there.

      • Shpip

        Evidently I touched a nerve.

  7. Drake

Isn’t Sheinbaum the President of Mexico because the cartels killed every other candidate?

Don’t think she’ll be “handling” the cartels.

    • The Other Kevin

Probably more accurate to say they let her live, and there’s a reason for that.

      • Drake

Let her live for specific reasons.

  8. Sensei

I rarely read The Economist anymore.

Is this level of pedantry the new norm?

In a recent interview with The Economist Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, described Iran as having been “relegated to a second-rate power”, an assessment that many Arab officials have come to share.

    https://archive.fo/LrCG2

    • rhywun

I dunno but wikipedia helpfully informs that “Netanyahu’s government has been accused of orchestrating the genocide in Gaza”.

      OK, then.

      • juris imprudent

The least successful genocide in all history.

    • slumbrew

It’s a variant spelling I see here and there. I imagine that’s from their style guide.

      • Sensei

That leaves you the option of referring to me as 先生 or せんせい.

If you are going to go all in The Economist should use Hebrew.

Do they spell Tokyo as Toukyou? Have they adopted the last name first that is used in most of Asia? Is it Florence or Firenze? At what point does this pandering end?

    • R.J.

Yes. They should raise taxes on sexual assault as well. Thoughtless bureaucrats!

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

You see, those taxes are there just ready to be implemented, but they are locked up.

    • CPRM

But it’s bad to ban soda from food stamps and folx are beautiful at any size.

      • Nephilium

Oh, you’ve seen the Lilly commercial too?

      • rhywun

OMG that was frightening. I was like who is this refrigerator-shaped person on my television.

  9. The Late P Brooks

I feel the same way about The Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa; I kind of like the concept,. but not much of the music.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I really don’t get the Grateful Dead. I don’t hate them, I just don’t get what all the hullabaloo is about.

      • rhywun

I guess you had to be there. And high as a fucking kite.

  10. The Late P Brooks

    Speaking of football players…

You’re Aaron Rodgers. Of all the things you’ve done, are you going to let your last play on a football field be an interception for a touchdown? Especially when the guy who intercepted your pass gave you the bullfighter cape move on the sideline and ran right past you into the end zone?

    I doubt.

    • slumbrew

Brady’s last pass as a Patriot was an INT; he went on to win another Super Bowl with the Bucs, of course, but I don’t know if Rodgers has much left in the tank.

(Brady’s last pass with the Bucs was a TD to Evans).

  11. Wood Chipped Wednesday

God I fucking hate when dumbasses college kids say that 3rd party votes are a waste. Going to choke a bitch.

    • EvilSheldon

Well, they’re not any more of a waste than votes for democrats and republicans are…

  12. The Late P Brooks

Oh, you’ve seen the Lilly commercial too?

Jabba the Hut must have had some sort of contractual conflict.

  13. The Late P Brooks

I really don’t get the Grateful Dead. I don’t hate them, I just don’t get what all the hullabaloo is about.

    Exactly.

I went back to the dentist after getting a filling filled a few weeks ago, but I still feel it two bottom molars, one on each side. She looked at ’em and said there wasn’t anything wrong with them, but she did file something down a bit more.

She says if it still bothers me in a few weeks, I should get back in touch, and they may have me go to see some “specialist.” I’m kinda doubtful of it all, but apparently the issue is I’m a heavy grinder at night. (Not the middle school or playful-bedroom kind. Damn.) My insurance got switched over to my marketplace version on Jan 1, so I suppose I’ll see. Didn’t have to pay anything today.)

  15. Evan from Evansville

Fairly cute girl just got introduced to Peabody and us. Overly dolled up, but college cute. She’s gonna be walking the pup in the morning while my parents are snowbirding in Florida in a couple weeks. I bounce out at 4:38am and she’s gonna take him out anytime between ~6-9am.

Same name as my SiL. I don’t mind thinking of playful hijinks. She’s studying psych, focusing on criminal justice. I’m sure y’all can get rather creative with the various jinks that may be floatin’ ’round here.

My parents are so trusting. Seems so odd to give ‘Free Entry’ status to another person in addition to the maids. Crime is non-existent here, but yeesh. I don’t like strangers walking through my habitat. I’ve never allowed the maids in my room. One, too many drugs, mostly Rx but my weed cartridges for vape. No Go Zone. And my bed and all my shit. Yuck! Shivers my timbers, and not in any funsy way.
