So many links today. So much going on.

¡enlaces!

Maduro is in federal custody in New York and made his first appearance in court. Lets hope he doesn’t kill himself like the last high profile criminal in New York.

Remember this is just like Iraq. We totally left the rest of the Ba’athists in power to detain journos after Saddam was captured.

El Presidenté Mujer has opinions.

I just want to roll back the clock about two weeks, post this link here, and ask if the Shaman made any other predictions for this year?

They probably want to export something besides baseball players.

Columbia’s president responded they will take up arms if the Orange Man comes for him. By arms he means girl cock.

It was nice knowing you guys.

The Arabs are spooked, apparently.

Time to get to work. Have a great Tuesday!

Were the AWFLs throwing their panties at Maduro?

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Doubtful. He’s not handsome like Luigi.

      • R.J.

        He’s tall and dreamy though

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

        And he is rich.

    • The Other Kevin

Once again the left is making a martyr of the very worst type of person. The easy retort is that Biden put a $25 million bounty on Maduro.

      • juris imprudent

That’s a long tradition on the left, back to Trotsky, Che, take your pick.

      • rhywun

For some reason they seem immune to easy retorts.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

It’s almost like that bounty was just for show.

  2. Drake

“…the last high profile criminal in New York.”

    Wasn’t that Trump?

    • mexican sharpshooter

I tried to make an Epstein joke, but I guess that didn’t kill itself either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. The Late P Brooks

not with his wife of 20 years, but with Linda Yepes, who made history as Colombia’s first transgender female TV reporter, Telemundo reported.

    Doing research.

    For a story.

    • Not Adahn

Narcos taught me that Colombian guys really like anal but their chicks aren’t into it.

    • rhywun

      *spits coffee*

I find this somewhat hard to believe.

      • (((Jarflax

It just means he was a commie guerilla.

      • Bobarian LMD

Spell check probably changed it from man-of-piece.

  4. DEG

It began when President Gustavo Petro was spotted on an official visit to neighboring Panama, not with his wife of 20 years, but with Linda Yepes, who made history as Colombia’s first transgender female TV reporter, Telemundo reported.

That’s sad that in a country like Colombia, the president can’t do better than a guy pretending to be a woman.

    • The Other Kevin

I looked up Linda Yepes. At least he/she is putting in the effort. But to say there aren’t any hotter biological women in Columbia is a stretch.

      • cyto

Columbia is the epicenter of hotness in our hemisphere. I had no idea until I dated a Columbian woman and started running in their circles. Good lord….

    • EvilSheldon

Petro did 18 months in stir back in his M-19 days – it’s not unheard of for dudes to get a taste for the wiener while they’re inside…

      • Bobarian LMD

There is at least a couple of entendres in that statement.

      • Pope Jimbo

        Mouthwash should fix that

    • Nephilium

Splitting the difference between the dead girl and the live boy?

    • bacon-magic

      He wanted the extra surprise.

      • Ted S.

        There’s a sizzling hot take.

    • B.P.

“who made history as Colombia’s first transgender female TV reporter”

Making history sure is coming at a steep discount these days.

  5. The Late P Brooks

And as three former DHS officials in contact with their former colleagues at the agency each described to me, the expectation among current officials is that one Democratic-led city in particular is about to become the next focus of arrests, detentions, and deportations: Phoenix.

    Nobody likes a tattletale.

    • The Other Kevin

I’m surprised that wasn’t one of the earlier cities.

      • mexican sharpshooter

More Mexicans per square mile, too.

    • rhywun

The Dems would probably cheer for a GOP-led city to be terrorized by ICE if they could find one.

  6. The Late P Brooks

Andrea Flores, who served as the director of border management on the National Security Council during the Biden administration and oversaw coordination between ICE and CBP, warned that the use of soft-sided facilities as overflow immigration detention space raises significant humanitarian concerns.

“It’s extremely expensive, and these are not spaces people should be in for a long time, frankly—they were very poorly managed even under Biden,” she told me. “The concern is you expand soft-sideds to expand detention space, but just because you do doesn’t mean you can expand removals. Then you’re just going to have a bunch of people detained in the desert.”

The obvious answer is permanent large scale luxury apartment complexes. That would be much cheaper (and more humane), and we can put homeless people in them, too.

    • EvilSheldon

Those ‘soft-sided facilities’ seem to be fine for troops deployed overseas…

      • Swiss Servator

I managed in soft-sided accommodation, in the desert, for a long time.

  7. The Late P Brooks

Representatives of grassroots groups preparing for the influx of federal agents say the groups are currently working as a loose network of organizations with no formal leadership structure. The members of the ad-hoc coalition include NDLON; LUCHA AZ, a mainstay in organizing as well as political work activating Latino voters in the state; most of the local labor unions; established groups like Chicanos Por La Causa; and some more radical entities such as the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

Right out of Mao’s Little Red Textbook.

    • cyto

      Yup.

But to be fair, this started with Ferfuson and if you couldnt see it in 2020 you were blind.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

LUCHA AZ. Is that like Mein Kampf AZ?

And Chicanos por la Causa. What Causa might that be?

  8. SDF-7

By arms he means girl cock.

Columbia is not the country I would have expected that from… maybe Brazil, maybe not. I suppose there’s just no winner — it is more of a thai.

  9. cyto

Speaking of Venezuela and “I’m surprised some Dem judge hasn’t ordered him returned”

This is yet another hint that the CIA guys finally came to an arrangement. We started with the destruction of their slush fund machine in USAID… but then… the gutting stopped.

Epstein stopped. The democrats started screaming for the files. Why? Because they knew stuff had been planted?

He stood down the neocons on going to war with Iran…

    Now this?

And he is talking like they had some sort of deal with the government of Venezuela. They hinted at all sorts of incredible intelligence capabilities.

So… now they are confident that no deep state judge is going to cut them off at the knees? They have a court all lined up?

My supposition is that this isnt a Trump original… but that the Intel community brought it to him as a pre-existing plan they have wanted for some time. Otherwise, “the resistance” would have sabotaged it to a much greater degree.

    • Ownbestenemy

CIA realized we dont need to waste money in shit hole deserts and focused on our hemisphere?

Finishing up on this interesting adaptation of Robin Hood.

It works but doesnt? Hard to explain

    • cyto

I’m partial to the Disney variant…

“Robin Hood and Little John walkin’ through the forest, ood-a-lolly, ood-a-lolly, golly what a day.”

      • Ownbestenemy

They drew from that I swear! And I am right with ya…love that version.

    • Evan from Evansville

The one with, what’s it? Russell Crowe? (looks it up) No, Hugh Jackman, ‘The Death of Robin Hood?’ Just heard about it. Not sure I care or should be interested in it. Further thoughts welcome.

Robin Hood w Costner ‘n Rickman is a cultural flick in our house. It’s just… brilliant in every way. With a spoon.

      • slumbrew

        Why a spoon, cousin?

      • ron73440

Costner’s Robin Hood was pretty good.

The one with Crowe was a disaster.

I was excited to go to the theater to see it, the trailer looked good and after Gladiator, I thought it would be epic.

        It was not.

      • Evan from Evansville

BECAUSE it’s dull you twit! It’ll hurt more!!

    The Arabs are spooked, apparently.

Well, I know that when I think of international law and fostering global human rights…. the Arabs are the first people that leap to mind.

(More seriously — just get us out of the UN already so everyone understands “international law” extends as far as — and only as far as someone is willing to enforce it. That’s just the way the world works and to think we won’t play the game too is stupid.)

    • (((Jarflax

World safety is at risk translates to America is cruelly following its own path instead of fighting where we want it to.

      • cyto

        Excellent translation.

    • cyto

The UN is basically the Allied powers puppet for staving off wars by providing a forum. As long as it remains a toothless tiger, it serves the purpose. 3rd world countries get to posture and green, but nothing happens.

The danger is when our allies use it to push other political agendas and then our own citizens seize upon that for leverage here in the US.

      • Bobarian LMD

Well, if Taiwan holds the Chinese vote and the Soviets boycott the security council because of it, you can get the UN to start a war.

  13. Shpip

The UN human rights office says the US military intervention that ousted Venezuela’s leader violates international law and the UN Charter

Oh, my. Well, I guess that settles things.

“Everywhere you go in the world somebody’s raping women, expelling the ethnic Chinese, enslaving stone-age tribesmen, shooting communists, rounding up Jews, kidnapping Americans, settling fire to Sikhs, keeping Catholics out of the country clubs and hunting peasants from helicopters with automatic weapons.” — P. J. O’Rourke

Let’s ignore all of that and concentrate on the FBI snatch-and-grab of a tinpot dictator instead.

    • cyto

The Human Rights Office shouldnt be commenting on this anyway. Nobody’s rights are at stake (group-wise). We’ll, except maybe the property rights of folks who had their properties expropriated. I have a colleague who’s family lost everything – a nice hotel and jazz club on the ocean in Caracas, homes… his brother tried to stay and work with Chavez. Worked a deal to build housing for the poor. Built a large development with a bunch of small houses. The government then took them without payment and he had to flee to avoid arrest.

So, I suppose there are a few human rights at stake.

      • The Other Kevin

I find myself not very upset about this. If the replacement leader has the fear of God instilled into them (a big IF), it would be strategically very good for the US.

      • cyto

If the replacement leader is smart, she would work out a deal to get out of their current death spiral. Quick reforms, a trade deal with the US, repatriation, a deal to have the US bring back oil production…. they could all be billionaires in a rich country within the decade.

      • Nephilium

“While Colombia is the world’s largest producer of cocaine there is no evidence that the president Gustavo Petro, who was elected in 2022, is in any way involved in the business.”

When reporters start declaring “there is no evidence”, I strongly suspect that the thing for which there is “no evidence” is actually a flat fact they have been told to deny.

    • Ownbestenemy

Or just dont go looking for it. Prrss release said it so, report it and move on.

  17. Shpip

As part of its growing presence in Arizona, DHS is expected to build controversial soft-sided facilities, the former official relayed. The tent-like structures are easier to put up quickly, but they are difficult to manage humanely because of their greater exposure to the elements, which contributes to a variety of serious problems for detainees.

Okay, hear me out. Put the facilities on the shores of Lake Powell, and stock the lake with dolphins. Then the most able and ambitious of inmates can earn their green cards by becoming cetacean trainers.

It should work out splendidly, for all in tents and porpoises.

    • The Other Kevin

That was a lot of work even for you LOL.

Wow. That was a long way to go for that pun. Well done. Very BBC radio of you.

There is a video of them chanting and singing and having a grand old time watching the fire spread above them, not realizing that they were facing a deadly situation.

      • cyto

      • cyto

There is a much longer video that shows the bottle showering sparks on the roof and igniting the fire, then people standing under it dancing and watching with fascination. One guy finally tries to beat it out with a towel, but doesnt really get much help.

    • rhywun

I can’t imagine being drunk enough to not spot the flaw in that plan.

      • EvilSheldon

I was about to say, that looks like open-cell packing foam, which is only slightly less flammable than napalm. I’ve gone into clubs, seen that shit on the walls, and turned around and nope’d the fuck out of there.
