That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.

Even worse is the link under it. Fake republicans vote to keep money flowing to commies. Congress is just a swarm of marauding locusts.
The swamp wins again.
Everybody talks about the uniparty, but no one really takes it seriously.
Initially I wondered the context, but then realized it didn’t need any, it is true just as it stands.

Lets propose a study of that and get some of that sweet slush fund money.

“In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, they fight corruption and strengthen the rule of law. In Pakistan, they promote religious tolerance and protect minority communities”
That is top notch comedy, right there.
“Promote” is a verb you see often in connection with these things (see, also “raise awareness”). It sounds good, but it is utterly divorced from achievement of any kind. It’s the signal that you are dealing with an NGO nepo baby money sink.
I never understood 2% milk.
It’s the compromise of milks. It makes no one happy.
It should be at least 50% to call it milk …
The % is the amount of milkfat in the colloidal mixture. “Whole” milk is only about 4%. I forget what % it comes out of the cow as before processing.
Higher. Supposedly making chai with US whole milk is equivalent to how they make it in Inda — where they dilute their milk with water
I put half and half in some coffee a few weeks ago and thought I had put in milk it was so weak.
We are a heavy cream family. There is no going back.
Back on the farm the pigs got the skim milk, they weren’t in the decision making process.
Holy crap I was completely unaware of this. Just incredibly dumb and mean-spirited.
Done by the same type of person who would shriek about the Reagan administration classifying ketchup in school lunches as a vegetable.
We pay Congress to do important legislation like determining fat content of milk instead of irrelevant things like balancing budgets, stopping fraud, and directing military action.
They want poor brain development.
It’s one more way to create leftist voters.
I was raised on 2%. Because it was cheaper.
(Same as margarine vs. butter)
Same. Then my wife introduced me to whole milk, and I’ve never gone back. 2% is the Miller Light of dairy.
So, it tastes great?
$315 billion in funding for the State Department’s democracy promotion programs, including the National Endowment for Democracy
315 billion reasons to kick those Republicans out of Congress this year!
Later in the article it says $315 million.
That makes more sense – US Aid was/is around $40B.
Still, my worthless Republican congresscritter was among the deserters.

“Meanwhile, we have ICE agents throughout our state who, along with border patrol, are creating chaos.”
No, asshole, your stupid sanctuary policy is causing chaos. Stop releasing illegal immigrants every time they get arrested.
Some talk head pointed out that ICE does this in other states not run by ass clowns and nobody even notices ICE is there.
ICE was in Indiana a few months ago. They raided a few restaurants and were gone in a week. But my libtard friends won’t notice that either.
“Chaos” is their new favorite word.
Remember that Trump was meme-magiked into office by invoking Kek, a chaos god.
When you think of OMB as the Hand of Kek, his actions make so much more sense.
They want order when the jackboot is stomping on the Constitution, and chaos when it is trying to stop rioters from burning down civilization.
KEK spelled backwards is KEK.
So, order, not chaos.

So, a warrant that said “seize all papers and books” would pass?
You think it hasn’t?
You can’t know which ones (papers, data storage, whatever) have relevant evidence without going through them. I guess the cops could camp out in your house until they’ve gone through everything.
It would be nice if they returned whatever they seize that doesn’t have evidence on it, but we know better.
I’d say it is what happened with Epstein too – for all the good the govt got out of that.
“Jilted gymgoer nearly kills love rival by hurling 25lb weight at her HEAD during workout, prosecutors say
Aralyn Martinez was charged with aggravated assault against Cindy S Aguilar following an altercation at 24 Hour Fitness outside Houston.
Deputies responded to after an emergency call on January 6 and where they were told the 24-year-old had recognized, ‘the complainant as someone her partner was involved with’.
An altercation arose between the two, and Martinez allegedly tried to cause injury by throwing a weighted plate toward the complainant’s head.
Martinez attacked the victim saying, ‘bitch I’m going to drop this 25lb weight plate on you’, according to a criminal complaint filed by the District Attorney’s Office and obtained by the Daily Mail.”

“24 Hour Fitness”
I’ll have to update our marketing: You may pay more at our gym, but you won’t won’t wait for equipment and you won’t get a plate thrown at you.
So… Roidman is going to throw the whole rack of weights at me instead?
Kevin is going to run you over in his wheelchair.
Fun fact. Not all 24 Hour Fitness locations are open 24 hours. Usually, many are open 6 am- 10 pm, and some are open 24 hours.
Every 24 Hour Fitness near me has closed within a year or two. Almost all of them were always totally empty.
There was one nearby that lasted 8 years or so, but it was always mostly empty. I actually was a member there for a time (membership was free due to work perks). The only time I ever had to wait was in the morning when one woman would circuit train and single handedly tie up several weight racks.
I saw a video recently explaining that 24 Hour Fitness, Planet Fitness, etc. do not want customers who are serious. That would cause wear and tear on the equipment and add expense. Their business model is to give someone the ability to say they joined a gym and pat themselves on the back.
When we first looked at buildings, we met with a guy who owned a Planet Fitness. He said we weren’t his competition. He had 1000 members paying $10 a month, and half of them never walked in the door. That was the business model.
TOK:
He had 1000 members paying $10 a month, and half of them never walked in the door.
That is 50%. I had a buddy who worked as a gym manager in college and he said that they planned for 20% usage.
That is the genius of the Planet Fitness/24 hr Fitness business model. The cost is so low, that you completely forget about it. Just keep collecting that money.
Here’s a bit of good news to balance out the day.
“Candidates, in short, are not ‘mere bystanders’ in their own elections,” Roberts wrote. “They have an obvious personal stake in how the result is determined and regarded.”
…
She noted that standing requires a “personal stake” in the alleged dispute and suggested the majority agreed to do away with that requirement for political candidates.
I am not surprised that Justice DEI doesn’t comprehend the meaning of words.

I haven’t been to the Smithsonian in decades. The Benjamin Franklin caption in the photo is priceless. I don’t know how you get rid of that cancer in the organization.
Any alterations Trump makes to the Smithsonian could be seismic because it serves as the last-word chronicler of America’s collective story—told through objects including Abraham Lincoln’s top hat, the Hope diamond, Nat Turner’s Bible and the space shuttle Discovery. The version of U.S. history it promotes gets seen by roughly 16.8 million people a year, more than triple the 2024 attendance of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Well, which is it sonny – the last-word, or just another version?
I don’t know how you get rid of that cancer in the organization.
Getting rid of cancer involves killing off some cells.

There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging America’s warts and reminding people of the times when we failed to live up to the lofty ideals the country was founded on, but these museum people go way beyond that and relish in tearing down achievements.

“Using artificial intelligence to impersonate celebrities is not “alright, alright, alright.”
Matthew McConaughey has trademarked “Alright, alright, alright,” the iconic catchphrase that he first made famous in Richard Linklater’s 1993 comedy classic “Dazed and Confused.”
The “Interstellar” star, 56, trademarked the phrase and seven other properties tied to his likeness in an effort to protect against unauthorized “AI misuse.””

Is there a carve out for impressionists?
OK OK OK Matthew.
Has he used it for business recently? It’s probably already lapsed for lack of use.
^^ I had the same question
Answer is yes, he has a clothing line that uses his various catchphrases called JK Living and also he has something do do with bourbon using his likeness and phrases.
Found one of many t shirts in his line:
https://justkeeplivin.com/products/alright-t?variant=40200733360241
I’m guessing he also has a social media company for his public appearances, which would be the most likely avenue for enforcing the trademarks against AI slop. Trademarks are industry specific.
Alright, alright, alright…
Good luck with that Matthew. Even the relatively reasonable celebrities are dumb as dirt.
One of those battles I have given up on is trying to enforce the correct “all right” over that bastardization “alright”.
I just have more important battles to continue.
A’ight, then.

“Bulletproof blankets marketed for babies typically cost between $500 and $2,000, depending on the level of ballistic protection, materials used and brand.”
https://nypost.com/2026/01/15/us-news/riley-gaines-wraps-infant-daughter-in-bulletproof-blanket-due-to-threats/
Sad there is a bulletproof baby blanket market.
Banned in NYS.
John thinks only cops should have bulletproof binkies.
Hochul and the legislature agree with John. It’s very important that citizens be easy to kill in case a cop needs to do that.
But if it is a blanket, it’s soft…
I don’t know. It must work somehow.
Or it could be a gimick which doesn’t actually help the child.
A blanket won’t stop or dissipate the kinetic energy. A baby wrapped in one of those will still be turned to mush if hit.
It must be some kind of hard shell like a taco that you put the baby in.
I never cared for mush.
Damned Greenskins posting recipes for babies!
California Cheeseburger
I have a suspicion that a bullet proof baby blanket won’t work. It may stop the penetration, but babies don’t do well with focused blunt force. And my brain now feels unclean for thinking this through.
But it will turn your baby into an effective sandbag for your protection. You can always make a replacement.
This is why trauma pads are a thing (for actual armor).
Actual sand also makes effective sandbags and is cheaper than babies, and also doesn’t smell as bad on day 2 and beyond of the siege.
Clearly you haven’t been around babies much.
They smell bad on day one of the seige.
From what I know about soft body armor (I have several sets), a blanket could be soft and cuddly, or it could be bullet-resistant. I isn’t going to be both.
After researching, you have a soft blanket with multiple plates. Baby would love but be badly bruised or have other issues.
Meh, babies already come with a few soft spots, what would be one more?
Bou Bou Phonesavanh hardest hit.
It would be child abuse to take your kid to a protest riot against the gestapo if you didn’t wrap they in a bullet proof blanket.

On the other hand, without RINOs Congress would permanently be in Dem hands (they don’t allow Blue Dogs to help offset). So, open borders, open welfare spigots, reparations, wealth taxes, court packing, hard fascism, gun confiscation, etc.
I’d prefer they were Democrats in a Blue Dog coalition but the Dems collapsed that part of their tent.
What? Congressmen actually representing the people in their district, and not going full arch-conservative?
How is that even possible?
How is that even possible?
Election fraud of course.
This. And the Dems are unsalvageable at this point so better a squishy Republican than a Democrat of any stripe.
something, something, lesser evil is still evil.
Lesser evil? Sometimes that is your only choice. Have your hand cut off or be drawn and quartered? Neither, but one of those choices gives me the possibility of eventual revenge.

“The heavily-scrutinized investigation into the death of Philadelphia schoolteacher Ellen Greenberg is set to be re-opened by federal prosecutors, according to a new report.
Law enforcement sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer that prosecutors recently sent out subpoenas for documents from the investigation into Greenberg’s death in 2011.
Greenberg was found by her fiancé Sam Goldberg with over 20 stab wounds to her body, including to her heart and the back of her head, and her death was initially ruled a homicide before being controversially classified as a suicide.”

“Three teenagers – a 16-year-old girl and two boys, 15 and 16 – are accused of murdering Alexander Cashford, 49, on the Isle of Sheppey last August after they allegedly lured him there to meet the girl….
The prosecutor said Mr Cashford had met the girl by chance at an arcade in the seaside resort two days earlier, on Friday, August 8.
He gave her a business card that had his phone number on it.
The 16-year-old boy saved it in his own phone as ‘pedo’ (sic) and over the next two days around 75 messages were exchanged, with Mr Cashford believing he was talking to a 16-year-old girl called Sienna….
‘Sienna’ then suggested they meet at her parents’ empty home and told him to bring alcohol, the jury heard.
Mr Cashford met the 16-year-old girl by the sea wall in Leysdown-on-Sea at around 7pm on Sunday, August 10, and just over an hour later he was pronounced dead, the court was told.”

It isn’t. It legal even, in the UK the age of consent is 16. But, again, when the police abdicate the responisbilites that they are for, then you get shit like this, mostly due to people thinking they are now the law, and they fuck up and go too far.

“Trump is something worse than a fascist”

Super Ultra Mega Hitler!
“The real courage is coming from ordinary people on the streets who are facing down Trump’s secret police and brandishing nothing more than cell phones to document the officers’ savage behavior. It may just be that the average citizens who are brave enough to fight for their prerogatives to pursue life, liberty and happiness are the honorable leaders Plato believed were the only ones capable of running a virtuous state. If so, this suggests that while democracy may have its weaknesses, it is also the best hope for saving itself.”
Trump’s secret police?
I would not consider those people on the streets protesting “ordinary”.
Like this.

Forget it, Tater, she’s rolling.
(I assume it’s Aman-duh)
“If so, this suggests that while democracy may have its weaknesses, it is also the best hope for saving itself.”
So we save Democracy by opposing the democratically elected leader who is doing what he promised the majority of voters he would do? Sounds more like supporting fascism while claiming to be anti-fascist.
It’s all wordplay with these people. They just need to tell their story the right way, and everyone will believe it.
To that point.

Almost there, almost there…
I think that we can all thank the media for spinning fairly typical, everyday law enforcement operations, up into something that resembles a riot every time they go out.
War zone
Karen, a Minneapolis nurse who asked NPR to only use her first name because she fears for her safety, said it was her first time at a protest against ICE.
“I’m a nurse and I’m afraid people are going to get hurt,” she said. “I’m here to keep my neighbors safe.”
Cameron, a demonstrator from Minneapolis who asked NPR to only use his first name, said the presence of federal immigration agents in his community has pushed his favorite restaurants to close down because employees are afraid “ICE is going to show up.”
“They have the city turned into a war zone just like they want it to be,” he said. “They’re here to scare people.”
Get back to me when the secret police are conducting revenge murder operations in broad daylight.
I’m here to keep my neighbors safe
I can think of a foolproof way for them to stay safe.
pushed his favorite restaurants to close down because employees are afraid “ICE is going to show up.”
Tell me you’re knowingly employing illegals without telling my you’re knowingly employing illegals.
As others have observed, start charging the employers under the numerous existing laws and things will change quickly.
Slumbrew:
I agree. Start ringing up employers too.
If I was ICE, I’d be letting employers know that any employee who ran off during an ICE check probably shouldn’t be allowed back to work because they were probably illegal. If they do keep employing them, that means that they knowingly employed an illegal and penalties are stronger for that.
So, they aren’t paying a living wage? ‘Cause I cannot think of any other reason to hire wetbacks than to pay them under the table.
In Minnesoda during the Good Times*, there were numerous fawning news stories about restaurants adding a surcharge to the meal to cover employees’ health care costs. So wonderful!
Why won’t those same eateries add another surcharge to cover the cost of 100% legal employees? I agree that it costs more to employ and pay legal workers than illegals. So why isn’t it brave and just to add the surcharge?
Knowing Mpls, they will add a surcharge to fund the lawyers fighting to keep the illegal dishwashers from being deported. (The money actually goes to some Somali NGO).
* The Good Times were when the Somalis were free to loot the treasury in return for stuffing the ballot boxes without any outsiders poking their noses into it.
Unlike lazy white kids, they actually show up because they need the money.
This is just like the French resistance in WWII. We’re the good guys!

Why won’t anyone believe us about those evil ICE gestapo agents?
Lots of middle aged white wimmin claiming street cred for getting roughed up by ICE.
Believe All Women!
Not. Every single one of those stories is bullshit. It is like when you got in trouble and were trying to explain to your parents how you were completely innocent. “I was just standing there minding my own business when Officer Friendly grabbed me. Then he hit me and called me names. FOR NO REASON AT ALL!”
ICE should have a team who simply get the body cam video of the officers involved in any of these “atrocities” and put it out on social media. Instantly respond with what actually happened.
I admit that the body cam video of the ICE guy who shot the gal didn’t change the minds of the True Believers, but I bet it changed the mind of the average person who saw it.
No, you’re here to bask in the approval of your AWFL friends.
Uffda.
Proggie Aunt sent Mrs. Holiness an email today telling her she was so sorry that ICE was targeting Minnesoda and that she hoped Mrs. Holiness will stay safe.
Lots of eye rolling from Mrs. Holiness.
I’m sad. Proggie Aunt was always a Blue Dog Democrat. Now she is retired and spends tons of time on Facebook with her other old proggie lady buddies. She is sucked into their bubble. Proggie Aunt used to be a glass ceiling shattering feminist (first female firefighter, worked at an oil refinery, etc.). She is still my favorite non-family relative though.
Does Proggie Aunt know the difference between Legal and Illegal Aliens?
Proggie Aunt used to be a glass ceiling shattering feminist (first female firefighter, worked at an oil refinery, etc.).
I’ve got bad news for you. She was always annoying.
Beg to differ.
She was just a tough, athletic woman. She grew up with a bunch of alpha male brothers (and one tote beta brother) and learned young to cope. She was closest to my father (who sort of raised her because their parents were shit). She said his rules for hanging out with them were “No whining, no tattling”.
She passed all the same physical tests the male fire fighters did. So it wasn’t like she wanted special help.
I also call her Proggie Aunt now because she has drifted left as she has become ensnared in Facebook. That probably isn’t a good/fair name for her.
Before she started that she was a traditional DFL-er. Pro-union (she was in several), old school feminist, etc. Most of that common sense is still there when we talk. When we talk, we still agree on 90% of stuff.
Social media destroys your brain.

Generally speaking, I don’t like live albums.
This is the only live album that I actually like, I think because it functions as kind of a “best of” album and has no banter with the audience.
I was there when they taped this at Long Beach Arena. If you listen to the live version of Running Free, I’m up there on the left hand side.
I would put Portishead as the best of that lot, but why they picked the lessor of the two Johnny Cash live albus is indicative of the problems with that list.
Europe 72 is a very impressive album. They were a great band with annoying fans.
Also no At Budokan, Song Remains the Same, Seconds Out, Alive!, etc.

No Bob Seger Live Bullet? That’s some different BS.
We dodged that Bullet.
Jane’s Addiction is not on that list.
What do the experts say?
The issue of whole and 2% milk in schools came to a head in 2010, when dietary guidelines at the time viewed low-fat milk as healthier due to fewer calories and less saturated fats. At the time, studies suggested more saturated fats — even from whole milk — could contribute to childhood obesity and heart disease. But a lot has changed since that time, when former President Barack Obama signed the 2010 Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act that banned whole milk in 2012. Today, further studies indicate saturated fats from healthy sources like milk are healthier than initially believed — although the extent of which remains unknown. Kathleen L. Keller, a Penn State professor of nutritional sciences and the principal investigator of the Children’s Eating Behavior Lab, said the change is unlikely to make a significant impact on the health of American schoolchildren one way or another. “Out of all the health-based decisions that the new administration has taken, a lot of which I think are definitely not a good idea, this one I’m a little ambivalent about,” Keller told the CDT. “I don’t think it’s going to have a huge negative impact if whole and 2% milk are brought back into schools.”
How magnanimous of her.
Why do I suspect she was all-in on the old food pyramid?
Yeah, all those kids with heart disease.
Friends from high school said I stopped growing taller in the 6th grade because I was always being punished during Milk Time. They kept growing because they got an extra year’s worth of milk drinking in.
Every day in elementary school we had Milk Time. We lined up and went to a giant milk dispenser located in the school hallway. We got one of those paper cone cup’s worth of milk and drank it. It was always whole milk, but I remember that at special times there would be chocolate milk.
Everyone drank the milk. I don’t remember any kids not doing so because they were lactose intolerant.
* I was the tallest kid in our class at 5′ 10″ in the sixth grade (yes, UCS I was 16 at the time). I ended up in the middle of my class when we graduated.
** I also will defend myself and my sixth grade rap sheet by saying I was singled out for additional punishment by my teacher because she lived 2 houses down from me and was extra strict to avoid charges of favoritism.
This is just like the French resistance in WWII. We’re the good guys!
They’re the Green Mountain Boys, picking off the Redcoat royalists from the underbrush and sabotaging their supply lines.
In the future, we’ll have Kyle Reese to lead us against Skynet.
Until then, this even-handed, level-headed person will serve as the inspiration for our times.
“Cocksuckers”?! That sort of homophobia is Not OK!
The vote split House Republicans with 127 GOP lawmakers — mostly members belonging to the conference’s conservative flank — supporting the amendment and 81 joining Democrats in voting “no.”
I recall Elon Musk, when he appeared on Joe Rogan’s show, saying the most surprising thing he experienced during his time with DOGE was pushback from Republicans when Musk tried shutting fraud down.
One man’s fraud is another’s electoral guarantee.
I seem to have misplaced my shocked face
Hey, we’re back to the 1950s after all!!!
“Protecting competition integrity is of the utmost importance for the NCAA,”
*outright, prolonged laughter*
“Why did you have real bullets?”
ICE cops should be issued those comedy stage prop guns with a flag which pops out with “bang” printed on it.
“Why? In case somebody tries to run us over with their car.* Again.”
*with apologies to EvilSheldon

Mercy me. The Joan Cusack voice really sells it.
MADD supports DUI checkpoints where “papers” need to be presented. I wonder if they oppose immigration checkpoints where “papers, please” is “gestapo” tactics? Of course, the reverse applies to conservatives and libertarians too. When is “papers, please” appropriate?
Outside of every
barcourthouse and food truck?Vaccine passports and/or proof of getting the Covid vax don’t count as papers, right?
Snitch lines and door to door raids checking if too many people were around is fine. Asking for proof of citizenship is just like the Gestapo.
Hmm… I think if you’re trying to do something that not everyone is legally authorized to do – cross a national border, obtain employment, purchase some restricted item – then it’s appropriate to ask for documentation. Traveling from point A to point B on a public road/sidewalk/path/etc. wouldn’t generally qualify. There’s probably various exceptions or grey areas here that I haven’t considered in my 30 seconds of thinking about this.
“the loud reaction of Good’s Justin Bieber-lookalike signal-wife who she wasn’t married to”
They weren’t married?
Imagine! Who’d a thunk that homosexuals would be so depraved as to live in sin?
“Common-law” will be the retort.
In my experience with people who claim to be common-law spouses, they never are. I used to ask for a tax return that they filed jointly as proof that they were married. Redact the numbers if you want.
I never got one, and I never had anyone trying to pull the common-law thing come back after I asked for it. These are people who want to be married when there is some advantage to it, and want to be not-married when there is some advantage to that.
Yeah, common law is a fiction, at least in this country.
