Saturday evening Links

Normally, a conversation with l0b0t is a pleasant experience. Thursday’s conversation? Not so much. Well, I’d been trying to figure out what I was going to do with the downstairs, now my hand is forced. And a new floor in the front room upstairs.

Links?

Well, bye.

Shooting at cops is never a good idea.

Looks like the CIA is busy.

“Don’t cry for me, Argenti…Canadaaa.”

This was a pretty brilliant move.

I love me some gubmint gridlock.

I thought she was a lesbian?

Okay, that’s it for me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Peace out, Glibbies.

I’m so sorry about the damage to your house, Spud. I hope insurance takes out some of the financial sting, if not the hassle of actually getting everything fixed. 😟

    • Spudalicious

So far it’s been going fine. We’ll see when it comes time to pay the bills.

      • Sensei

If the insurer tries to fuck you a public adjuster is a middle ground between getting an attorney.

Insurance won’t pay for the initial repair, i.e. the burst heater pipe, but the collateral damage should be covered subject to the policy and its limits.

        Good luck!

  2. Chafed

Sorry about the flooding Spud. That is a giant pain in the ass.

    • Grumbletarian
  3. ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Yeah, more than a few women have used the old “I’m a lesbian” when they don’t want to talk to some rando dude.

    Alsotoo, flooding sucks donkey dick.

  4. juris imprudent

OT, hey Swiss, drinking beer with my son at Tighthead Brewing Company.

  5. Spudalicious

I’ve dealt with water leaks in the past. Just about anyplace else in the house, this would have been much worse.

    • juris imprudent

After our last one I told the wife that the next and I’d sell the house.

    • Sean

Sorry dude. That still really sucks.

  6. Shpip

Protesters reportedly set fire to the local headquarters of Cuba’s ruling Communist Party in the city of Morón

Huh. Never knew that my wife’s favorite term of endearment for me was actually a city in Cuba.

    • rhywun

Can we give those protesters asylum? I think we can keep them busy here too.

    • Gustave Lytton

Air base in Spain. Probably a town there too.

I’d been trying to figure out what I was going to do with the downstairs

    • rhywun

Shit, RIP. I haven’t read it, but I still have a free copy of that Radicals book somewhere that they sent me.

      • Raven Nation

        Definitely worth the read.

      • rhywun

        👍

It’s in storage. I’ll dig it out when I move in several months.

    • Annoyed Nomad

I haven’t been to TOS in a while. Hadn’t Doherty gone full TDS? If he’s who I think he was, I enjoyed a lot of his writing when I first found the site, but Trump seemed to have broke him.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Trump broke virtually everyone there. They react to his every utterance like a cat to a laser pointer.

Trump ain’t perfect. But I do know he’s done more to reshape the world order than any President in a very long time. He’s exposed the rest of the west as weak vassal states dependent on the American economy and military.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

In some ways I feel like Trump like I do about McConnell, though less so.

Man, I hate McConnell. He’s such a fuckstick. But it was his balls in a wheelbarrow that kept Merrick Garland off of SCOTUS by refusing to bring his nomination to a vote for nearly a full year during Obama’s last term.

I think we all owe him props for that. Garland on the high court would have been disastrous. Full blown troon support. Hostile to gun rights. Vindictive.

      • rhywun

Garland on the high court would have been disastrous.

Not the only bullet Donald helped us dodge but a huge one.

      • rhywun

And he has no filter which has allowed to him to say a lot of shit that needs to be said but no one else had the stones to.

      • Evan from Evansville

He’s given strength to openly make fun of the shit they’re seeing, have been told.

I disagree with much of Trump, but he’s at least a BRAKE, and hopefully a wrecking ball, to the cultural takeover the Left has been pulling over the nation and world for over a decade.

        Thank. Fucking… Trump.

  8. slumbrew

I thought she was a lesbian?

    She was explicitly bi.

    • Chafed

      And now even more explicitly.

      • slumbrew

        Giggity.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I think that is spelled bye.

  9. rhywun

I love me some gubmint gridlock.

Does “SAVE” include restricting mail in voting? Cuz it’s useless without. I know some states are all mail in and therefore broken beyond repair at this point.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

Must send in copy of ID for verification. Only allowed in certain circumstances. Must be received on or before Election Day.

None of the “mail a ballot out to every person who ever got a drivers license” bullshit.

  10. Aloysious

Spud, now’s your chance to make sugar free lemonade out of lemons.

You are going to drop some coin on renovations, so install a sauna, hot tub, and multi head shower.

Recoup your expenses by charging admission.

Break 2: Can’t wait for it to be 10. Two great shifts w Dragon Woman, two great w Cool Chris, and now Dragon’s properly upset. Fucked up a big lotto thing, did I, and I spilled a half BIG pot of coffee I had to sort, but almost done. Outside trash next so Me Time.

Weekend begins soon and then only five more shifts. Ain’t too bad, but yeesh for today.

    RIP Doherty.

Years ago I had an employee that loved strip bars and strippers. We were sitting in a bar one night, and I heard another guy ask him, “Greg- whats with you and strippers? I don’t know how you deal with those fake tits.”

Gregs reply? “They’re not fake to me if I can put my mouth on ’em.”

      • Threedoor

        Ha!

    • Chafed

Being of sound mind has its perks.

  14. Tres Cool

Too local- I went into an actual bank today to get some cash for something that will soon be at the bottom of a lake.
However- I did score a bunch of $2 bills, which I like to keep on hand just to screw with cashiers. Same with $1 coins.

    • rhywun

$1 coins are useful at the post office.

      And nowhere else.

      • Tres Cool

Akshually, when our washer was out for a spell a couple of years ago, the laundromat I chose accepted $1 coins. And the change machine would break your $20 into various coinage to include dollar coins.

      • Grumbletarian

        Ren Faires.

    • Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

$2 bills are actually popular with the Mexicans working in Cancun.

      $3 bills not so much…

    • Chafed

      You’re a cruel man.

  15. Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

I paid a young fella $100 to plow my driveway, shovel my sidewalks, and shovel a path to my chicken coop.

Money well spent even though it hurts me to pay for things I am able to do. I just don’t have the time. Work expects 7 day coverage.

    • Tres Cool

Last year when we had a snow event, I was out of town. I didnt feel like driving the 3-hour commute to come home to 8″ in my driveway.
For the 1st time in my adult life I paid someone to clear the snow. I understand.

    • rhywun

Paying young people to do things I used to do myself is a reward for a life of proper budgeting in my book.

/moving soon and wondering just how much of it I can pay someone else to do for me

      • Threedoor

My limited experience with movers is they are savages and thieves.

      • slumbrew

        All of it.

You (we) are too old for that shit.

Pare it down, personally move very fragile/important things, pay the pros for the rest.

Plus, it’s probably time for a new mattress, maybe some new towels… dump and buy at the new place.

      • Threedoor

Seconded on the bed, linens and towels. Keep some of the better old ones for cleanup towels and rags and start new.

      • Tres Cool

Not too long ago Tres Sr. (currently age 86) told me after shoveling snow nearly wrecked him, “ya know, I just have to remind myself that I have these physical limitations now”.

      • rhywun

I bought a lot of shit brand new when I moved here 3 years ago – mattress, frame, Lay-Z-Boy, kitchen table, chairs, several shelf units – because it was maybe the first time I could afford to buy nice things. All good quality and keepers.

I think the only thing I can pay someone else to do that I didn’t last time would be boxing shit. But I have a 25 plastic bins in storage that I can pack myself so it’s not really worth paying someone else to do that unless I’m really pressed for time but I have a few months.

      • rhywun

All my towels and linens are fresh too but mostly just Target quality. Still not worth throwing out.

My main concern at this point is just finding a place.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Paying movers and mowers. My life is just better for it.

(wife likes cleaning ladies, so, that too)

      • Plinker762

There is a moving business across the street from mine. While entertaining, I would never hire those morons for any of my stuff.

      • rhywun

I’ve had no problems with the 2 or 3 movers I’ve hired in my life knock on wood.

    • slumbrew

      These euphemisms…

      No kink shaming.

    • Tres Cool

So what was she writing on the white board ?

      • Threedoor

One of the comments said it said “my homeland is my life”

    • Threedoor

      The comments.

The propaganda going around these days is wild. Both sides.

But Iran clearly hasn’t learned any lessons from Baghdad Bob. It’s so over the top bad.

I have a freshly renovated media room, an Atmos-enabled immersive audio system based on a Trinnov Altitude and a Waveforming woofer array, a bag of edibles, and many hours of music and movies queued up. So I’m going nowhere.

  17. Evan from Evansville

Well, that’s over with. Ended okay but had two petrol issues, a big LOTTO fuck-up (that got rectified) and a really stupid coffee issue of my own making. (Easily 48oz but likely more. I refilled the coffee thing for customers. I didn’t shut the tap. I walked away and discovered my error. The spout was just pouring it onto the floor. Well. Onto a small tray first.

I hid it fairly well, but Dragon wasn’t snippy about that one when she found out. Kept me sheepishly busy for about 20 extra min.

One more week and an extra Sat 28th. But for now, orientation for new gig is on Monday. Hope y’all are having a good weekend.
Spud: Sorry ’bout the water damage.

    • Evan from Evansville

Nice! Japan, Korea.. all(?) of Asia won’t take that shit. Singapore, by far the most legit multicultural of the lot, uh. Per my sub on SNG, they’ll have you beaten in public or executed if you fuck w their drug/visa laws.

Cultural hegemony has remarkable power. It’s good the US doesn’t have ‘it,’ but we do. Foreigners: Assimilate in public, then go home to Chinatown, etc. It really ain’t that hard.

      • rhywun

The US had it right about a century ago… welcome almost anyone seeking freedom but demanding they assimilate. The left took over and turned it all to shit and here we are.

      • Evan from Evansville

Completely concur. That was the special thing about America. Ya really could come over and build something better than in the Old Country. Start with food. Or laundry. Then your kids get to grow up in Affluency Land.

Ya didn’t come over for the privilege of being pampered. Ya weren’t brought in to be reliable voters.
Eh. People have always been people and blocs will always come (and go?).

      • rhywun

And even around 100 years ago the voters deemed it had got a bit out of control and applied the brakes.

Almost unthinkable these days. And IIRC the foreign-born are at the highest percentage ever.

    • Evan from Evansville

Ethiopian food is really good. Odd funsy bit: Flew on Ethiopian Air once, possibly to Morocco. *Shockingly* good food onboard.

    • rhywun

I think I recognize some green beans. The rest, who knows, but yeah it feels like a severe lack of, I dunno, mains. A plate full of sides.

      • rhywun

Or a dozen jars of baby food.

    • Sean

      Pass.

  18. Evan from Evansville

Watching Enemy of the State in full for the first time. Seen most of it and knew it was well-made, fun and prescient. I haven’t seen Act III, tho. Me likey. I think they’ll end up with ice cream.

Bigger thought: Trump’s take down of Kharg was, indeed, *mwah.* That’s just good, warlike statesmanship. Crafted and executed. I don’t want to be over there. But I do prefer having balls than being Team America, the well-intentioned eunuchs. (Solid band name.)

Most infuriating: Were Obama doing this, it’d be hailed as the grandest act of nobility the Lightbringer ever performed.

“The nine defendants, who are allegedly members of the left-wing group Antifa, were accused of using weapons and explosives at the facility, providing material support to terrorists”

If they were convicted of providing material support to terrorists, are they really just “alleged” members of Antifa?

    • rhywun

      Antifa is just an idea.
