Yeah…
It’s the End of the World outside right now. Well, not quite, but lightning and hail are making me just fine with working in my basement corner office space. So here are some links to enjoy while I keep unplugging major appliances and TVs.

It’s crazy out there. The storms are over, now we have very strong winds that are a bit scary. Then more storms are expected tonight.
Sorry, Midwesterners.
Here in the Mid-Atlantic it’s a perfect Spring day. The BF and I went for a 5+ mile bike ride, a mixture of dirt track and no/low traffic pavement.
Yup, delightful here in NY.
It should be that nice near the end of the week here.
Nice rain here all night, all day. About 1.5 inches, we can use it. Should eliminate the forest fire danger,
everything will be green in a few days.
Just came in from mowing – which was overdue.
Music seems on point today.
Stay safe everybody!
Since this is a Swiss post…
Political orientation of perpetrator in domestic attacks and plots targeting the U.S. government, for attacks where orientation was known
It’s nice to see Team Blue becoming more libertarian.

“for attacks where orientation was known”
Gee, you can’t drive a truck through that obfuscation. 🙄
Seems tailor made for the Nashville incident — not even she knew her orientation at that point, I believe.
St. Floyd riots don’t count.
What happened with the rumor that the killer had been appointed to some government position(s) by democrats and the insinuations that the woman was killed because she broke with the Democratic caucus on immigration issues? Did any of that pan out, or was it debunked, or were investigations just dropped because “everyone knows” the guy was right wing or something? I honestly don’t recall.
I bet if it was a Fuentes fan who attacked a Jewish Democrat for supporting Israel they’d be able to figure out if it was left or right wing violence.
CSIS seems to work as well as reports about inflation; they only include things that can help with their case, and leave out the things that don’t.
So, ipso facto, Right Wing violence is increasing.
Lol.
Apparently there a guy, Peter Girnus, who has been working the WHCA Dinner for a number of years but doesn’t want to anymore, because he’s twitting that the reporters stole $29k worth of wine during the evacuation.
Yeah, I saw pictures alleging to depict that. Name and shame. Demand firings. Sue the bastards. File charges.
Never waste a good crisis.
Hold up, hold up, why are these people being served anything more expensive than Two Buck Chuck?
They’re journalists, they really don’t rate higher than hard tack and government cheese.
I think this is one of those prix fixe things where the journos (or their employers) pay their own way, but I don’t know how the wine is rationed.
Upon further consideration, if they paid for it then they’re entitled to it. But it’s still tacky as fuck.
I’m not sure if they would have prepaid or been billed after.
But I still want to see the reaction if the menu gets pared back.
“This year Tickets are only $2.50?”
*sees plate*
🤬
“In the future… all restaurants are Taco Bell!”
If it was wine that was already on the table, I would have taken it too. If they went behind the bar to grab some wine, then it’s a different story.
I watched the video. The place has already been mostly cleared out. Clearly no one was a risk at this time.
It is clear there are a lot of people holding open bottles. That doesn’t bother me at all.
There is one woman that looks to be picking up two unopened bottles. That puts me at unease. Not as flagrant as going behind the bar to grab bottles, but these are not bottles that can’t be recovered for a future event. They haven’t been served yet.
They were saving it for elevenses.
Mali Defense Minister Gen. Sadio Camara, is among those who were killed in the attacks, the Malian government announced on Sunday. Spokesman Issa Ousmane Coulibaly said Camara was killed in a suicide bombing.
Apparently carried out with Mali-ce aforethought.
Someone is having a Sad-i-o.
What on earth does Russia expect by helping Mali, of all places. Maybe resources? I can’t imagine that awful place having anything else to offer.
Well, they have the city of Timbuktu, where your future is so bright you have to wear shades…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qrriKcwvlY
Time warp.
Again?
Old-timey joke:
There was a poetry competition final with two contestants, a university student and an old redneck:
They each had 20 seconds to come up with a poem about Timbuktu.
The student goes first and says:
“Across the desert sands,
crossed a lonely caravan,
men on camels two by two,
destination Timbuktu!”
The crowd goes wild cheering for the poem.
The good ol’ boy then goes:
“Tim and I a-hunting went,
Found three girls in a pop up tent,
And before the night was through
I bucked one and Tim buck two.”
Camara is dead? I won’t believe it until I see a photograph…
Sounds like now they’re finding themselves Defense-less.
“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?”
As long as people keep tuning in, and they will.
I don’t like her or Donald calling for him to be fired. That is not their place.
Eh… I’m willing to grant any wife leeway on “You wished my husband dead, I don’t think you should have a job on TV.”. FLOTUS or normal. She’s not truly part of FedGov (and people should stop acting like FLOTUS is an elected position in my mind), just speaking her mind. Seems reasonable to me.
POTUS should only sue for libel where applicable and shut the hell up otherwise, yes. And actual death threats (not lame lame comedy skits) should get Secret Service (can we change the name of the protection detail already? I hate thinking of the SS helping out in DC….) visits.
Are they tuning in though?
An algorithm then evaluates the mouse’s facial expressions in real time. This system makes it possible to quickly and accurately assess whether the animals are suffering and whether additional analgesics need to be administered.
I almost put “rodent facial recognition” on my Bingo card for April.
Missed it by a whisker.
Squeaked that one in though!
The important question is if the mouse’s Ford truck will let it drive it or if it will rat it out.
In all seriousness aside, I accidentally discovered a new and foolproof mouse trap. I left a steel galvanized garbage can open, it had an inch or two of corn in the bottom.
There was some things next to the can that a mouse could climb on, look into the can and fall in. Now the mouse has all the corn it could want but the problem was the sheer steel walls of the can. Anyway, I’ve caught 4 mice in the last 2 weeks. They die after a few days but not from hunger.
That’s just a bucket trap.
I’ve used them for mice. Most of the time you would suspend something across the middle, like a soda can or piece of PVC, that has peanut butter or some other attractant, along with a convenient way to get up.
As soon as they hit that can it spins and they fall right in.
If you want to minimize the cruelty of starving/being parched to death, fill the bottom with water. They’ll drown in short order.
I have a mouse in the chicken coop that is so fat he can barely run. I might have to try the can trap on him.
1/4 mile or 1,000 feet?
Ford Racing’s new Mustang Cobra Jet 2200 just became the quickest electric car on the planet, running a 6.87-second quarter mile at 221 mph at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte this weekend.
——-
The Cobra Jet 2200 is not a tweaked version of the previous Cobra Jet 1800 that Ford used to chase records and wheelies. It’s a ground-up redesign that fundamentally rethinks how to deliver electric power down a drag strip.
The headline number is 2,200 horsepower from two custom-built electric motors paired with inverters exceeding 98% efficiency. Each motor/inverter pair delivers roughly 1,200 horsepower. But the real story is that these motors weigh roughly half as much as the previous generation while producing an additional 600 horsepower — a massive leap in power density.
Ford’s engineering team simplified the architecture from the Cobra Jet 1800: two motors instead of four, two inverters instead of four. Less mass, less complexity, greater efficiency, and clearly better results.
The whole system runs on a 900-volt electrical architecture with a combined 32 kWh battery capacity. Ford says it charges in about 20 minutes, fitting comfortably within NHRA’s standard 45-minute turnaround window between runs.
It looks like there might actually be some practical development buried in there.
It still sounds like an RC car going down the track.
1/4 mile or 1,000 feet?
Only Top Fuel and Funny Car, which get up to 330 to 340 mph, have reduced the distance to 1000 feet.
FoMoCo…900Volts
What could possibly go wrong?
But no transmission to jump from park to reverse!
Mustang Cobra Jet 2200 just became the quickest electric car
Not a Mustang.
It’s a proud dad day today. My youngest just finished supervising the movers for her first official Navy move. Meanwhile her husband has finished the southernmost part of the ship’s journey, and they’re headed north again.
great news
I don’t like her or Donald calling for him to be fired. That is not their place.
I don’t like that either but I have no problem with her calling him out for being a sleazy asshole.
Indeed. I wish she had used those exact words.
STEVE SMITH READY TO VISIT KIMMEL EVEN IF ASSHOLE IS SLEAZY…..
Seriously?
The Protection From Predatory Pricing Act (5), which passed in the state legislature earlier in April, takes aim at companies that Governor Wes Moore says (6) are using “new technologies to drive up the bill for working families.” It’s a practice his leadership — and authorities like the Federal Trade Commission — believe to be invasive, exploitative and anti-competitive (7).
“The cost of basic household goods could surge based on the time of day, the weather, or granular consumer data, allowing stores to calibrate price increases to extract maximum profits on the backs of consumers,” explained a release announcing the legislation back in January (6). It denounced “using shoppers’ personal data to charge different prices to individuals for the same bag of groceries.”
You could always cut up your “loyalty card”.
Fuck off, commie.
I can see the problem. Exploiting people is the way capitalism works. The government needs to run the stores and treat everyone the same, like in the past in Russia.
Everyone? Surely you can’t be serious?
Can I haz Protection from Predatory Property Tax Act?
No. That’s different, comrade.
Fucking A, this.
A government functionary arbitrarily deciding what my house is worth every couple of years is the pinnacle of predatory.
867-5309 works most places, I hear. Or if you don’t have one, the cashiers will spot you, at least here.
Only Top Fuel and Funny Car, which get up to 330 to 340 mph, have reduced the distance to 1000 feet.
From the article [at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte this weekend] it sounds to me like an exhibition run with the Funny Cars. It doesn’t really matter. That’s pretty quick.
Doing that sort of R&D makes more economic sense than building a five billion dollar factory to build electric pickups nobody wants.
In all seriousness aside, I accidentally discovered a new and foolproof mouse trap. I left a steel galvanized garbage can open, it had an inch or two of corn in the bottom.
You’re almost there. Dump out the corn and put water in the bottom of the can. A pivoting “diving board” with a little peanut butter at the end, and you’re in business. My record (twice) was four in one night.
I did have a similar one, a plastic bottle, coat hangar, corn, bucket, water. I caught a few but required refilling the corn.
Fortunately mice in the garage but none in the house.
AC/DC is good driving music. And linking music.
What if the government “dynamically priced” junk food via EBT cards? That would be okay, right?
EPL Relegation Update, round 34 (4 to go, and the spot for the last spot is interesting, magic points to safety in ()):
Safe: Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Brighton, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Brentford, Fulham, Everton.
Reasonably Safe: Sunderland(1), Crystal Palace(4)
Safe for Now: Newcastle United(5)
Danger Zone: Leeds United(7), Nottingham Forest(8), West Ham United(11), Tottenham Hotspur(13)
Toast: none
Relegated: Burnley, Wolverhampton
Spurs and WHU both won over the weekend, tightening things up and putting Burnley out of their misery. Leeds fell back into Danger Zone. They play away at West Ham and at Tottenham in their last 4 games, so they can be kingmaker and/or make a run at that last relegation spot.
This weekends matches that matter:
Friday: Burnley @ Leeds
Saturday: West Ham @ Brentford
Sunday: Spurs @ Aston Villa
Monday: Forest @ Chelsea
Within 2 weeks, there will only be 3 tiers: Safe, Danger, and Relegated.
And for next year’s PL, Coventry are back and Wrexham are still in a playoff spot.
The important game is tomorrow’s CL game.
Donald and Melania are ATTACKING Jimmy Kimmel.
It was just a harmless joke. Not like Jimmy would have the nerve to attempt to take out a President. He’s just giving voice to what every true American feels deep inside.
