So Fox ran an article talking about 10 snacks from the ’80s and ’90s that people miss and want to come back. Personally, I found the list a little dubious, with the exception of Butterfinger BBs and Doritos Salsa Rio.

I remember they had the sugar free pudding pops back in the day. Mom would buy them occasionally when going on the sugar free diet fad.

I don’t remember most of those but speaking of Keebler I do remember a sort-of peanut butter candy-bar shaped cookie that was amazing but is impossible to find in recent decades.

That is closer but not quite. The interior was not “creamy”, more like a Clark bar but less crunchy. And there was no cookie wrapper.

I swear I recently saw Altoids or something similar going with sours. I noted it was the first time I’ve seen ’em, so it was a recognizable brand, though I don’t remember which one.
Nutty Buttys are still a fun, nostalgic throwback. (They are much bigger than they used to be.) Planters Cheezballs? I wanna see Reese’s take on ’em. Don’t really need to, cuz their puffs are just bigger versions of the same fantastitude. Zebra Cakes were an elem. school go-to. (They don’t hold up.)
The new sour Skittles (not the gummies) are divine. I need to pick up a new “Shareable” sack for myself tomorrow. They’re the bestest.
I was just struck by the stock footage of a strip mall-ish type area. You know, where the lower classes hang our, not the sophisticates like ourselves. The paucity of obesity is striking for a location like that.
I was always partial to Charleston Chews in my youth, but a quick DDG indicates they are still being made, so they don’t fit the theme.
I saw Charleston Chews advertising on the bags and in stores to make s’mores with Graham crackers and two mini Charleston Chews. If someone handed me that and called it a s’more, I would call bullshit.
I remember those. I think I lost a filling to one.
I’ve been an absolute fiend for Tim’s Cascade jalapeno chips ever since I won a “how many can you eat” contest at summer camp when I was a kid (tell me your church was 99% white without actually telling me…). Haven’t had them in years. Not available in this area. All the other kettle chip brands with a jalapeno flavor wimp out on the spice.
I liked Cheetos Paws when I was a kid. Sour Altoids sucked. I don’t think I ever sampled any of the other brands mentioned.
I was going to mention Surge and Sierra Mist from Coca Cola and Pepsico, respectively, in the late ’90s, but apparently Surge was reintroduced, and Sierra Mist was only discontinued in 2023 – I thought it had disappeared at least a decade earlier than that.
Jolt Cola or GTFO.

Sort of but not really looks like, they sell some kind of Jolt Cola thingy on Amazon but it’s a kind of energy drink.

I remember the PB Crisps. Those were pretty good, but the Trader Joe’s filled Bombas are better. Didn’t really think about them after I stopped seeing them on the shelves. I didn’t know the rest had been discontinued.
Breyer’s used to make quart (?) tubs of coffee and fudge ice cream that was sinfully good. Among other flavor combos. Haven’t seen that since high school.
Let a carton of Bryer’s thaw in the sink and you’ll never long for it again. Looks like ice cream, tastes like ice cream, not ice cream though.
I have no idea what that implies.
Chemicals that don’t belong there.
It melts into a kind of foam that’ll maintain (sort of) the shape of the carton if you dump it out. I’ll still eat the mint chocolate chip from time to time because I can’t argue with the taste but it’s the only ice cream I’ve ever seen do that.

We had some generically packaged substance called ice cream sold in the commissaries in Europe in the ’60s. I think it was frozen soybean oil.
If it was left out in a bowl in the sink it was tough to get it to go down the drain.
In Spain we got a product called milk in a 8-10 quart box with a spigot. Took some getting used to but after a couple weeks we were accustomed to it. On our return to the US I drank whole milk like an addict. It was good.

I fell in love with these in Germany in the 80s – by far their best product. I saw them in one or two bodegas in the NYC area ages ago but nowhere recently – it’s the usual gummy bears and snakes and cola bottles if anything.
I have ordered them via Amazon a few times.
They carry those in the Dollar Trees around here. Solid product…
Maybe I’ll check the Dollar Tree or WalMart nearby. I made my first visit to a WalMart a couple weeks ago – it’s not as convenient as the Wegmans and the selection kind of sucked and JFC the People of WalMart meme is true.

My son brings German made Haribos when he comes out to visit. The green ones are a entirely different shade.
Doritos protip- turn the bag upside down, shake it, then open from the bottom.
That way you get all the flavor dusts that usually hides in the bottom. I learned it from a colored person, so you know it works.

Don’t know what they did to them but I’m guessing even lower fat and more seed oils than they were in the early 2000s.
Care less about any on the list but would like the original recipe Butterfinger before the Eyetalian Candy company “improved” after buying from nestle. Other than that, I mostly miss the packaging. Foil wrapped hersheys or Kit Kats with paper wrapped around it. Or M&Ms in a tearable paper wrapper. Tired ofplasticized everything. Sugar Pops in foil bag, dammit.

I haven’t seen a Rolo or a Score bar in over a year.
They still make one of my historical favorites (Chunky) as a square candy bar. But now it’s done by Nestle and only has one variant, that being milk chocolate, raisins and peanuts. Used to be 3 or maybe 4 versions, with different types of nuts and one that was made with dark chocolate.
Rondos. Frozen ice cream balls.
That and a takeout pizza where my dinner for my ex-wife’s and my prom dinner (to my defense, I had no money, but I did have a tuxedo).
