The EU said on Thursday the deployment of US troops in Europe was in Washington’s interest, and that the US was “a vital partner in contributing to Europe’s security and defence”.
Yeah, that’s putting it lightly.
Don’t bite the hand that
feedsprotects you, Europoors.I thought the standard response was “Goodbye, bigots.” Euros understand who pays the bills better than D politicians.
5,000 out of 36,436. I just looked up the figure in 1985 – it was 246,875.
JFC.
They don’t even like us there. 5,000 is a nice start – let’s do better.
One base in Europe is enough.
Pull them all out of Germany and Spain. Drop Italy to 8000 or so.
Everyone that comes back gets ETS papers.
Haven’t heard The Predictables lament, or even brush aside, that the UK is poorer than the poorest US states. (Ignoring something, the ‘quiet’ brush-away!) Though a quick search of that, just for a source, resulted in: “The claim that the UK is poorer than the poorest US states is a debated economic comparison, with recent analyses suggesting the UK’s GDP per capita (adjusted for purchasing power) is lower than or comparable to Mississippi, the poorest US state…” This *does* lead to a brush aside:
“Purchasing Power vs. Welfare: While nominal comparisons suggest the UK is poorer, adjustments for high U.S. healthcare costs and other expenses can make the comparison complex.
Median Wealth: Despite lower income, some studies (like UBS Global Wealth Databook) suggest median wealth for an adult in the UK can be higher than in the US.”
I wish the anti-US Euros would be *angry* about being utterly dependent upon Team America for defense. I’d be happier if they were (also) *furious* with their government(s) for creating the stifling regulatory markets that inhibit growth, and the Funsy Police who arrest people for tweeting Bad Thoughts about their new, i̵n̵v̵a̵d̵i̵n̵g̵ politely ushered in teeming masses who despise everything about the UK and Western culture.
This boy sure can dream on, can’t he? That’d be fun.

It appears the Ford Motor Company is not a good fit for my son. Who knew. 🙄
Employment, or he got into an accident driving a Ford?
Employment. He got hired, spent 1 day in a training class, and left thoroughly convinced that unions are, shall we say, suboptimal, and he likely wouldn’t last an entire 12-month probationary period where you can get fired on the spot for every minor infraction.
Also, he’d rather mow lawns and he’s onboarding with two places where he can do that at the same pay and benefits as Ford and also, less work.
He just has to put in his dues and eventually he can basically come in and nap on the job with complete union protection (Until the company goes out of business from a lack of productivity). What could be suboptimal about that?!
Yea, I’ve never worked union anything. I’d guess that the company reached an agreement with the guys who were already protected that they could keep their perks, but newbs would have to earn their place in the same racket.
I’ve also heard other people online talk about their experience with unions and a lot of the older guys couldn’t give two fucks if the people coming up would ever see the same benefits they had and were fine treating them like shit.
I worked a couple unionized hotel jobs. Slightly higher pay but you’re treated like dogshit at the bottom of the totem pole. Your schedule is only a “suggestion”, for example. It can change at any moment if someone on a higher rung decides they want your hours instead of theirs.
Never again.
His particular union complaint is that he noticed an untoward superiority complex about being in a union than all the stupid people who are too stupid to not be in a union and work stupid jobs for stupid companies.
He was quite exercised about it. Had to remind him to use his indoor voice at least three times.
Also, he was very displeased by the braggadocio trainer getting all braggy about “We make $16,000 pure profit on every truck that comes off this line.”
Yeah, that’s kinda tone deaf. Read the room, dude.
So he chalked that up to being mistakenly proud to be in a union.
And also, he did mention there was a lot of politics talk and he didn’t want a job so tied to politics and policy changes that could upend his life.
Weird, ‘cuz master mechanic seems right up his alley.
Well, he’s learned how to change his own oil, so there’s that. On the other hand, I learned how to change my own clutch cable on my motorcycle because I only had enough money for the part, so desperation drives a lot of skill learning.
What little wrench-turning Ill do now impresses my son. He once asked me, “Where did you learn how to work on cars?”
I said “simple- I was too broke to pay a mechanic”.
It’s amazing how so many kids, particularly in this generation, have never seen their families be in bad financial hardship. My children grew up in a home much larger than the one I grew up in, and they’ve never needed for anything, and got most everything they wanted. They never had to eat store brand mac n chee with store brand hotdogs because that’s all we could afford. They’ve never been driven around in a beater. And they’ve certainly never changed spark plugs or the oil because we were too broke to afford it.
So many kids these days grow up in upper middle class homes wanting for nothing. They’re pushed through school whether they’re competent or not, then go to college whether they have the aptitude or not, and live in what are functionally luxury apartments while the main chunk of their time is spent figuring out which party they’re going to.
It’s no wonder that 23 year old fresh out of college thinks it’s “unfair” that they don’t make 6 figures straight out of school and parrot all of the commie shit they were taught in college. Everything they knew was on the backs of their parents’ hard work. Hard work they never saw.
I think a certain degree of pride in being able to fix/maintain your stuff is missing too in todays yutes.
Even after I was in a better position to pay someone (knowledgable) to do a job, I would take it on myself just because I wanted to know that I knew as much as that other person.
I used to take pride in my lawn. But my lawn mower burned up a few years back. When I went to buy a new mower, Biden inflation had set in bad, and comparable mowers started at $15K. I couldn’t afford that, and the payments were such that I could have my lawn mowed for near 10 years before paying it off. So now I pay a guy.
I’m going to dislocate my shoulder patting myself on the back for this, but I think my husband and I did a good job teaching both kids to be able to DO THINGS, manual labor, some skills, and take pride in what one built/accomplished/made pretty.
The Ford Motor Company was not a good fit for me, either. I tried my hand working at a Ford assempy plant in 1978. I lasted 1 full day and made it 5 minutes into day 2 before clocking out and leaving.
Oh goody
“They’re boys that were brought up in Britain in the forties, the experience through their parents, the horrors of the war, the damage of the war, and then go to this island and start acting it out,” he added. “So it’s a psychological study of a time as well as a psychological study of a gender.”
That’s familiar material for Thorne, fresh off creating the mini-series Adolescence, which took a hard look at how the misogynistic manosphere can influence teenage boys.
In Lord of the Flies, the boys wrestle with morality, leadership and civility to avoid devolving into chaos.
“I do think that there are interesting things to explore within masculinity as a prism,” Thorne said. “That prism fascinates me. And thankfully with Adolescence and Lord of the Flies, I’ve got to explore one aspect of it. There are many, many other aspects of it to explore too.”
——-
“I hope in the show too, that we don’t give easy answers,” Thorne said. “Rather, we pose delicious questions that lead to those conversations on the couch with your parents or your friends.”
A masterpiece, laying bare the inherent evil of masculinity. He should have added some strong compassionate female leadership.
No troon in the update?
If women were left to their own devices in society, they’d stone people who hold different beliefs and we’d still be living in caves/forests.
The stoning part is the big one. No one really cares to explore the toxic aspects of feminine behaviors in modern day. No recognition that they exist let alone delving into them. Conformity and social cohesion aren’t bad things, though they can obviously become so when taken to an extreme. Not to mention…resource guarding.
Women and prog men have idealized the nature of women to a ridiculous degree. They also mistake what women are in present day for how they are in every type of society (not that our young women are what I’d call prizes). So, they think because women are accepting of this or that minority group, that’s how they are in all contexts.
Reality is that women tend to be some of the worst enforces of social norms. In Christendom, it was women who enforced morality. It’s Helen Lovejoy shrieking, “Won’t someone please think of the children?!” on steroids.
So, women policing women.
That has nothing to do with women’s prison. Or pillow fights.
🙁
Yeah, but they throw like girls, so no one would actually get hurt in the stoning.
Your point is accurate, though. Whether you call it The Longhouse, Chris Rufo’s “Cluster B Society”, or Helen Andrews’ “The Great Feminization,” it’s your worst HR nightmare run amok.
I can’t be all things to all people. Sheesh.
Women are awful to eachother.
lol Hard pass.
Seattle’s socialist mayor had a message for wealthy residents looking to flea the high taxes she put in place for them: “Bye!” Her audience laughed.
It makes no sense if the goal is actually to raise revenue. It makes total sense if it’s about punishing the wealthy for being wealthy, though. As one of my antifa friends said, taxing the rich (because deficits don’t matter and could be easily solved, according to them) was a form of social “hygiene.”
The rich shouldn’t exist. It doesn’t matter if they are the reason other people aren’t rich. It’s not about lifting others up. It’s UK-style class envy in full bloom in America.
Also, I can’t help but feel as though nearly everyone, to include the wealthy, would stomach higher tax rates better if they felt they were getting really anything back in return for the value.
When you increase taxes and there’s no tangible results to show for it besides government employees and political critters in general, people are naturally going to resent it all the more.
Most people accept the idea that government should be in the business of social engineering and provide at least a safety net for people along with some level of public services. Obama once said if he could fix the DMV, he could sell healthcare. I’ll go a step further – if people writ large felt that there was any real correlation between the money collected in taxes and the quality or even amount of public resources available to people, they’d accept it.
Got into it with choo-choo commies and pointed out that we aren’t Japan. Beyond the whole drastic difference in pop density and need for trains, we aren’t going to have them clean and efficiently running on time like the slant eyed Japs. It’s going to be a disgusting, degrading experience for all involved on top of the entire construction process being a giant boondoggle. See Cali’s train to nowhere on the boondoggle part. Remains to be seen if we’ll ever actually get a functioning train for people to treat like a pigpen.
ROI for taxes is negative for the people paying them.
Positive for those not paying.
Did your antifa friend happen to have claws for hands, you know, like a crab.
No crab hands that I know of, but they did have pronouns and claim to be trans.

Cruel and unusual
A federal magistrate judge tore into officials from the Washington, D.C. jail on Monday for their treatment of the man who allegedly attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui said Cole Allen’s placement in severe lockdown — including a temporary suicide watch that required 24-hour-a-day placement in a padded, lighted cell without access to phone calls, books, religious material or recreational time — appeared to be unfairly punitive and not based on any known medical assessment.
Faruqui, who played a role in hundreds of cases stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, said Allen was being treated more harshly than those defendants, despite similar allegations of political violence aimed at members of Congress and government leaders. Those defendants were housed in a less restrictive wing of the jail known as the Central Treatment Facility, he noted, and were given significant accommodations during their detention.
“The Jan. 6 defendants all were moved to the CTF,” Faruqui said. “Pardons may erase convictions but they do not erase history … He’s being treated differently than anyone I’ve ever observed.”
We don’t even know for certain why he was there or what his intentions were. It’s not like he defiled the sacred Temple of Democrat-ocracy.
The Jan. 6 defendants were treated with just the right amount of harshness.
It’s imperative that this fellow be given the opportunity to kill himself before facing a witch-hunt trial by the minions of Trumpenfuhrer. Or some shit.
“despite similar allegations of political violence aimed at members of Congress and government leaders.” WTF? Nobody on Jan 6 even had a gun let alone fired one.
Well, there were allegations – everybody knows they were lies but there were allegations.
Someone had AN EMPTY HOLSTER that caused massive terror.

They ship. It is not cheap, but it is good raclette.
DFW has a number of places with raclette, and fondue overall. Makes me want to go to one.
I keep telling Swiss that he could get Raclette Ramen here in the winter. They switch between ramen shop for the cold months and ice cream shop for the warm months.
Raw milk raclette, or gtfo.
Okay, so I’m a day late and a dollar short, but my husband bought me this for my birthday and I’m just entranced. It’s ergodic literature, and it intimidates me a little bit. For instance, House of Leaves is ergodic literature, and I’m convinced I’m not smart enough to read it.
I really need to take some pictures and blog it.
Wow, that is a cool idea. I love it.
If you get a kick out of ergodic and metafictional literature, I can recommend The Raw Shark Texts (warning, spoilers in the wiki!)
Well, I don’t KNOW if I get a kick out of it. It’s too pretty for me to stop looking at it and get around to actually reading it!
Having read House of Leaves, I believe you can handle it.
Florida man, you so crazy!
What do you guys think of those e-bike things? We’ve seen little kids riding them and they’re a menace. Mrs. TOK thinks they should have the same age restrictions as a moped. That seems reasonable to me.
I asked the other day about the off-road ones and got crickets.
There are a lot of idiots (even adults) riding them around me. There are some busy “backroads” off the main ones around here. There’s no lights, and they have no lights on the bikes and they’ll just pop in front of you and do whatever the fuck they want. Everyone I know has at least almost hit one of them.
There’s no way in hell a parent with an ounce of common sense would allow their little retard Billy who has to pop 10 Adderall a day to just get kicked out of class to ride those things around anytime let alone at night. And I’m like anti-safety guy. I hear safety and reach for my gun type of person.
Then I have two school zones on top of one another outside where I live. One is pre-k where I have never, not once seen a kid outside of the building. And a high school where I can’t figure out what the schedule even is. Everytime I drive past I’m like…shouldn’t they be in school there? Regardless, it’s a ridiculously long stretch where I have to drive 15 and it’s confusing as to whether it’s a school zone and times where the light should be blinking but isn’t and they will ticket you even if its not blinking and supposed to be one and there’s cameras etc.
All that to protect the children. But that shit is allowed?
It’s clown world.
The ridiculous school zones seem more like a money making racket to me, to be clear. And the cameras are the same concept as redlight cameras and shouldn’t even be allowed, but we are going to have to wait for someone to litigate their rights on that to see which way the judges decide to rule regardless of logical consistency. In the meantime, some contractor god paid to put them up and they’ll bring in revenue for the city.
“One is pre-k where I have never, not once seen a kid outside of the building.”
You must live in Minnesota.
I’m in Florida. Our immigrants are milking the system the good old fashioned way as individuals rather than any elaborate schemes that I’m aware of. They have their stamps and Medicaid after claiming they’re refugees.
I like them for certain applications. Having an ebike for quick trips down the street can be useful – basically the same use case as a Vespa but with a different flavor of hipster cred.
What I don’t like are little kids.
Well, in the past 2 weeks, on an orthopedic surgery account that has very little work, 3 surgeries have been on young people who broke bones in incidents involving an e-bike.
It seems to me, if you’re going to ride on 2 wheels, commit to one thing (bicycle) or another (motorcycle) (and that includes scooters). Car and truck drivers don’t really know how to handle drivers on e-bikes, and either the equipment or the riders (or both) is too erratic to be able to predict what they might do.
Also, I’ve seen little kids on tiny 50cc rice burners who show more skill than grownup drivers.
I was just wondering about that the other day. Some quick searches claimed that ebikes need to be pedaled, which exempts them. But the modern ones don’t all use pedal assist. They’re essentially electric motorcycles at some point.
There are different kinds of “e-bikes”.
The ones that some cities offer for rent (Citi-bike, for example) are restricted to low speeds and are only pedal assist. I don’t really care for them because they are really heavy. If I bike again (a separate question) I would want something lighter.
The ones that assholes and food delivery drivers in NYC ride are more like motor scooters – I think that is what you and other commenters above have in mind. The appear to be a loophole that they are taking advantage of. No license needed but they run at motorcycles speeds and some douchebags ride them down sidewalks without a care in the world.
That’s last one is what we’ve seen. They are basically an electric scooter without pedals and go up to 40mph. We’ve almost been hit by kids riding them around their neighborhoods.
A bunch of them are used on the sidewalks around me, as well.
Main issue where I am is kids AND adults riding them without any sort of lights at fucking night. No street lights in a lot of places and they just…have no concept of the fact that they are nothing but targets. Young males who think they’re invincible and it can’t be them.
I consider it Darwinian if they get taken out, but I guarantee the whiny mothers won’t tolerate that point of view.
Libertarian says what?
I spent most of the day fixing things that I broke. The thing that I started out to fix hasn’t been touched yet.
Normal for me. Then pay someone to fix the things I broke trying to fix the thing I started with.

I’m tired as hell today. Yesterday we hosted our second Spartan DEKA event. 63 people went though the course, about twice as many as last time. We got a lot of compliments about how well our course was designed. We were going pretty much nonstop from 8am to 4pm.
What do you guys think of those e-bike things? We’ve seen little kids riding them and they’re a menace. Mrs. TOK thinks they should have the same age restrictions as a moped. That seems reasonable to me.
I think there is a case right now in which a mother has been charged (involuntary manslaughter or somesuch) for giving her kid one with which he mowed down some old man.
I drove the truck on the highway today and got up to 65 mph. It turns out I’m better at shifting than I thought. I’d start it in 4th gear on the shoulder, build speed, and gradually shift to 10th. Feels good, man.
We sort of play musical chairs in the cab (me, the instructor, and other 2 students). The oldest guy got fed up and dropped the class. That’s shame, because he already had years of truck driving experience from the Army.
Dog spent 8 hours alone the other day. It was his first time for anything longer than like a hour in months. It’s unavoidable at the moment. It’s this or a shelter. Well, I do have an option to leave, but with complications that I won’t go into.
I watched him on camera. He was incredibly well behaved. Mostly just stayed on my bed where I sleep. I could speak to him and he actually listened to me despite shitty audio quality. Somehow he goes 8 hours without peeing after a few days removed from the roommate, but can’t go 5 minutes by himself without peeing knowing this asshole is coming home.
He’s new to being out of the kennel so I was especially worried. Tried my best to “dog-proof” the environment, though they can always find a way to act out.
I’d like to get him some things to keep him entertained. The games and toys I see online don’t seem to cut it, and certainly at first I don’t think he’ll actually engage with anything and the entire time he’s just stressed. I figured he’d be bouncing off the walls when I came home after sleeping that amount of time. He went from super excited to crashing out.
Kong toys were used in the past and at first he liked it. Then seemed to not bother as his anxiety increased (probably because of how fuckface was behaving when they came home). They didn’t last him long, either.
Long story short, I’d like to find some good things to occupy him. Just none of it really seems like it will work. Curious, intelligent dog who gets bored easily. He’s going to be alone for 9 hour stretches only asshole will be on the other side of a door during it. He’s going to hear them and on one level be scared, but also want to go see them. It’s not a good recipe.
This is unfortunate, because it seems you were unhappy with roommate before the dog came into the picture.
I new what I was in for living with this person. Gist is I can handle their shit and mostly accommodated them. Them adding a puppy to the mix obviously changes the math a bit. It’s one thing to not care for a dog and not want them. Acting like a fucking mental patient to the point where dog doesn’t know which version of you they’ll get minute to minute is a recipe for creating an aggressive dog.
So yea, they won’t be missed. There is a lease which I feel like I could break without repercussions for me. There’s enough evidence of their behavior to where despite being a guy I feel like I can sell the need to break it by the law. I had a place to stay in the mean time which is still available.
It’s a balancing act between trying to play this out for personal reasons and not allowing it to escalate any further. Keeping them separate is doable. It’s a lot harder to do that when the dog is left alone and this asshole refuses to do something as simple as put a TV in their room and stay there for a few months instead of being right outside to get the dog going.
I’ve been on vacation and shit popped off on day 2 of it. Third straight paid time off period where this shit has made it miserable. Completely focused on keeping dog sane and occupied.
One way or the other, dog has to get used to being alone. Someone else being there and obviously so is going to be a major complication no matter what. I feel like the dog is going to be fine once I can remove him from the presence of this person and it is coming. Just trying to keep the dog safe and not make him miserable for a few months longer.
My neighbor leaves her dog home alone all day every day and the thing whines and cries non-stop the entire time – as I am trying to do work. Then when she gets home she takes it for a walk at least once an hour loudly slamming doors along the way multiple times each time.
Between her and the mentally ill guy outside who whistles and yelps at cars all day now that the weather is getting nicer I am going to go postal if I can’t get myself under control for the next few months before I can get the hell out of here.
My dog may piss all over the place when left alone, but he does so quietly!
Plus, even if he did bark, there’s basically no neighbors at the moment to be annoyed by it. But that’s not his issue.
I understand fully how annoying as fuck that would be to live with.
Even with the peeing, I can’t help but tie that to how he’s been treated by “roommate.” It’s a self-perpetuating problem for that douchebag.
When the dog knows I’m coming back and it won’t be them, there’s no pee or anything. The “roommate” is convinced the dog does it on purpose to be spiteful and I’m like…you’re a retarded fucking clown.
Just someone who is so mentally unfit to have a dog and then picked a dog breed not known for fucking around when they are or their people are threatened.
That sucks.
I am certain my neighbor is the same. The landlord said they were going to provide some sort of guidance to help her deal with the dog’s anxiety but it either didn’t happen or it didn’t take.
I mentioned it before but this chick’s boyfriend moved out and apparently took one dog with him and she replaced them with a different dog. 🙄
Yea, that’s just ignorance and stupidity.
I’ve said this repeatedly. I’m attached to my retarded little friend here, but there’s no way in hell I would have gotten a dog let alone a puppy if left to myself. To add a second one when you can barely control one is just as dumb as what people do with kids they can’t raise properly.
And I also firmly believe this will be a good dog. His issues are entirely normal puppy type shit beyond the biting which is…it took months of build-up to get to that point and a whole lot of human stupidity. Much of which took place when I was at work.
I hate this because one big reason I wouldn’t get a dog is because I very much hate the idea of leaving them alone for long stretches. I know people do it, but I’ve never felt it was right. I’m kind of just stuck.
The option is he toughs it out with me or shelter. I know he’d despise a shelter on top of the utter betrayal. Dog is loyal as fuck to me and I can’t do that unless it’s just absolutely necessary to protect him from asshole.
Yeah I would not get one myself and not just because I don’t particularly like dogs but also because I live alone. They are not like cats – I left two girls alone at home for many years and they were fine with it.
Once I get my own place, barring a gf or similar, I’d really like a dog. But I also grew up with chill cats. I can easily see becoming a cat-man in the future. (Lived on a dorm floor with Jeremy or something. He insisted he should be called Cat Man. We didn’t oblige.)
A single dude w a cat, though? Uh. Hrm. That’d have to be a pretty special cat, and I’d have to be in a pretty special place.
He needs another friend. Dog, cat or some rare almost extinct animal.
Dog isn’t socialized with other animals at this point. He’s only ever been around one other day. He just tried to play, but it was an old dog who wanted no part of it. It’s less that I think he’d be aggressive necessarily (obviously pits don’t have a great rep in that regard – they were bred to fight other dogs) as much as it’s an unknown. One complication with my alternate living arrangement is the presence of kittens.
I love my little son-of-a-bitch, but no I wouldn’t put it past him to do something dumb there and I’d feel pretty fucking awful about that. I trust him with people far more and that’s way more tested, though even in that regard I’m investing in a personal trainer so to speak.
But yea, another animal added into the current cocktail of stupid isn’t feasible. If this asshole came home and saw a second animal added to the equation, they’d attack me for a 4th time and probably end up dead. Not from my hands, but from the dog’s.
Lick mats smeared with cheese / yogurt / PB then frozen. Won’t last long though..

I don’t know the practical solution to prevent crime like this. The jails are full. Hence all the catch and release.
Man Attacks Blind Woman as His 44th Crime
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCgzH1YOmGI
He did get sentenced to 10 years in prison without parole this time.
If we really want to protect Americans, it would be better to redirect some military or DEA spending to building more prisons.
The Rooftop Koreans proved the deterrence effect of open carry. I’d feel better if I saw more people walking around with guns on their hips.
I think it’s really generous to think that catch and release is about the practical concern of jails being at capacity. The prison population is actually 20% lower than 2009 apparently and I doubt the jails and prisons were shut down.
Hm. Wiki sez:
***
There is significant variation among state prison population declines. Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York have reduced their prison populations by over 50% since peaking.[11] Twenty-five states have reduced their prison populations by 25% since reaching their peaks.
***
My guess is releasing prisoners saves money for other more politically useful things.
Nietzsche said that politicians see everyone is either a tool or an enemy.
While is it true that crime esp. in NYC is way down, there is no evidence that Democrat policies had anything to do with it. As opposed to, say, enthusiastically locking up the cohort that caused the previous crime wave. Now that locking folks up, especially the wrong sort of folks, is frowned upon, they want to close more jails specifically so there is not enough room for the existing population let alone the increased population that is certain to arise in the near future.
I question how much crime has dropped in certain areas as much as they’ve simply changed standards and faked the stats.
Since at least Geroge Floyd and covid. if not just in NYC, than at least in some blue urban hellsacpes.
At least in NYC murders and I guess most violent crime was way down before the Summer of Love cause the rAcIaL rEcKoNiNg we keep hearing about. Some stats.
I have no particular reason to disbelieve the numbers before 2020. All bets are off after that, of course.
In some cases the jails are only full because it is official Democrat policy to close them and not provide replacement spaces, in furtherance of their pro-crime beliefs.
A large number of Americans do not want this, at all.
I’m slowly coming to the same depressing conclusion.
Voltaire said something like the art of government is taking as much money as possible from one class of people and handing it to the other. Protecting lives and property is not the priority.
It’s sort like how it’s almost impossible to expel a student no matter how bad their grades or behavior are. Progs apply the same kind of logic to imprisoning criminals.
Mamdani is bragging that he can’t wait to close Rikers which is currently at around half capacity. The jails he wants to replace it with (a) don’t exist yet and (b) will have even less capacity than Rikers does now and that’s only with crime at or near historic lows. If and when crime ramps up, THEN the jails will be full and they will have no option other than to let them run wild.
Which is exactly what commies like him wanted all along.
s/b less capacity than Rikers is housing now
Helicopters?
Someone’s onto our weekend linkster:
A Reward T-shirt?
“You earned it, Kid”
Here to preserve disorder
Mamdani’s office did not immediately respond to a request for further comment. At a news conference on Monday morning, the mayor said: “I want to be very clear, there was no prior coordination nor planning between the NYPD and ICE ahead of this incident, NYPD officers were not dispatched to the hospital to participate or facilitate an ICE operation, rather they were responding to 911 calls regarding a protest outside of the hospital.”
He added: “Our laws leave nothing, no room for interpretation, about the fact that our NYPD will not participate in civil immigration enforcement, and I’ve also been very clear about my views on ICE raids as a whole. I think that they are cruel, I think that they are inhumane and I think that they do not serve any interests of public safety.”
Mamdani said that he had seen some videos from the incident, including one that he said showed an NYPD officer “grabbing a New Yorker and throwing them on to the floor”.
“That is incredibly disturbing and that is being actively investigated right now,” Mamdani said.
An immigration activist who attended the protest and did not want to be named because she fears repercussions from law enforcement said that she hoped that Mamdani would rise to the occasion. “We need the mayor to stand on the side of our communities and our neighbors, and what that looks like is telling the NYPD to back off,” she said.
Rioting in the name of justice. It’s what Patrick Henry would have done.
“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the parent agency of ICE, said in a statement on Sunday that agents had been conducting “a targeted enforcement operation” in Brooklyn that “resulted in the arrest of Chidozie Wilson Okeke”, a Nigerian citizen. The agency said he had overstayed a tourist visa and also had been previously arrested for assault and drug possession, though it did not provide further details.”
I wonder what further details the Guardian would like. And if ICE cannot carry out a raid to remove someone who is on an expired visa and has been arrested for assault, how does Mr. Mamdani propose we deport these people? Apparently compliance with deportation orders has been voluntary up until now.
His party wants to “end ICE”, i.e. not deport them. The existence of the party depends on keeping as many of them around as possible.
The rioters were blocking access to a fucking hospital. The illegal alien claimed he needed medical attention and then fought with the agents when they took him here, and hundreds of antifa activists just happened to show up and riot for hours.
I have a strong suspicion the entire thing was a setup from start to finish.
As for Mamdani I hope the voters are getting a good eyeful of that hateful asshole and his loathsome behavior and will finally reconsider voting for trash like that next time.
“We need the mayor to stand on the side of our communities and our neighbors….”
If your neighbors are illiterate peasant illegal aliens, you should probably concentrate on moving to a better part of town.
How believable is MS.NOW on reporting about Republican insiders? I mean, seriously, do you think they even talk to Republicans?
This is really a classic application of who is telling me this, and why?
They talk to the guys at the Lincoln Project.
Does “MAGA” even outlast Trump?
They talk to the guys at the Lincoln Project.
…and The Bulwark.
Apparently Vance’s real failure is not doing what political consultants and the perpetual campaign money machine parasites want.
Well, Everton managed to keep Man City alive.
In Scotland, it is now becoming at least possible that someone other than the Old Firm will win the title for the first time in more than 40 years.
Ugh. City could win it all? Gross.
Nice to see Forest beat Chelsea.
Hearts, eh? Neat. I would like to see that happen. Fuck Glasgow – a toilet by all accounts I have heard.
Apparently Roman Polanski and Harvey Weinstein are just dandy, but Jeff Bezos is a no go for Meryl Streep. https://www.mercurynews.com/2026/05/04/nicole-kidman-beyonce-backlash-met-gala/
Ugh who cares what any of that trash is up to.
