It’s been warm and dry here in Manly Time, today offered a respite. I woke up to a gentle rain that’s going to continue for a bit. I was going to power wash the patio today in preparation for next Friday’s shindig, but I’m going to use this opportunity to lounge about. Works for me.

Links?

“You’re dick is green. Might want to get that looked at.”

I wanna grow up and be this guy.

Not sure where the north African tribes that sold each other into slavery are going to come up with the money.

Don’t vacation in third world countries.

Uh, yeah. No. We’re done with that.

In other Middle East news…

Tulsi walks out with a mic drop. Too bad nothing will come of it.

Because they were all complicit in the cover up.

Okay, that’s it for me. Back to lounging about. Peace out, Glibbies.

    Needs more punitive redistribution

The California Teachers Association, the state’s largest teachers union, opposes a measure on the November ballot that would impose a one-time tax on the state’s billionaires.

“After thorough review and democratic debate about the Billionaire Tax Act, our State Council of Delegates — 800 educator representatives from throughout the state — determined that this policy will not provide the sustainable and long-lasting funding that our schools and communities deserve,” CTA wrote in a statement.

The union went on to say that they fully support taxing the wealthy, but prefer to do so by extending the taxes on the wealthy that were imposed under Proposition 30 and later Proposition 55, which generate millions for schools and community colleges and are set to end in 2030, unless voters extend them in November.

We can’t get by on some piddly one time cash grab.

      Oh. Whew!

The plan includes a new specific call for compensation for gender-based violence, referencing data that suggests “women represented approximately 30% of the estimated 20 million Africans forcefully transported across the Atlantic Ocean”.

The Israeli military carried out the attacks after Hezbollah fired more than 50 times at Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, a military official said. Five Israeli soldiers were killed by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon over the last couple of days, the official said.

Lebanese health officials said seven people were killed in the latest strikes. They said 83 people had been killed and 141 wounded in the earlier attacks, in which Israel said it killed dozens of militants.

I mean, most ceasefire agreements between Israel and (*insert Islamic terrorist group here) seem to be more like “fire at each other a bit less than we have been” agreements, so what’s the issue?

No shit, yeah?! *head explodes* Especially over there, were quaint, colonizing, racist and patriarchal ideas like ‘life, liberty, property’ never took hold.

    • rhywun

“Various ethnic and sectarian communities” fighting each other basically describes all of the Middle East and the entire continent of Africa. I dunno if it would have turned out any different had The West not dicked around across the region.

      • Evan from Evansville

Oh, yes. We certainly affect the TIMING of such, that’s true. Most telling: The only parts of Africa that are doing kinda well, or aren’t complete, absolute primitive shitfuck swamps, were “colonized” by Euros. The reality of that SHOULD have more power against the ‘anti-colonists,’ but I suppose it’s a tough argument to sell. I got my unrestricted DL at 15. OTOH my folks restricted my driving.

Interesting times, ahead. I wonder when if/how something more organized gets under way.

“A maniac went on a bloody rampage with a machete in Scotland that left five people hurt.
The shirtless attacker appeared to be targeting Muslims in the Friday attacks, which unfolded in Edinburgh, according to reports.Video shared online appeared to show the suspect saying he was “protecting his country” from Muslims while being held on the ground and arrested.

“I’ve told you time and time again, I’m protecting the country from these f–king Muslim bastards. Raping our young daughters, raping our kids. Enough is enough. I have had enough,” the man shouted while being cuffed.”

It was inevitable. People have reached their breaking point. It must be really bad there.

Narrator: We know it is really bad. In so many ways.

      • Evan from Evansville

The newly released report of the ~250,000 rapes+ that were, uh, not investigated and silenced? I want to catch up on that story, specifics-wise. Not only was the justice system uncaring, folk that were were actively punished for tweeting.

They proudly allowed themselves to be disarmed, so knives are an easy option, but I’m guessing they’ll go back to bombs. But the Islamic retaliation? Uh, they’re more ‘seasoned,’ I expect. More willing to die for the virgins.

        It’s all profoundly fucked.

    • Sean

      0 for 5.

    • rhywun

Maybe all those Scottish soccer fans we keep hearing about aren’t just impressed by ranch dressing but also our apparent lack of a Muslim rape gang problem.

      I’ll allow it.

Busy day. I’m grateful to have a Saturday off. Been working 6x10s. Kinda burnt out. Salaried so I don’t get paid for it. No end in sight.

I got the kitchen and bathroom cleaned. I planted the wacky tabacky in tubs outside. Planted the flowers (marigolds, zinnias, forget-me-nots, calendula, amaranth, poppies (the fun kind)) in containers. Planted the herbs in containers. Hacked at the thistles in the big garden. Burned them with the propane torch (die, muthafucka, die!). Planted morning glories.

Tomorrow I need to plant 5 butternut trees, several grape plants, and several raspberry plants. Maybe I’ll even get some potatoes in the ground.

I pulled a muscle in my back while feeding the chickens. Sipping on Laird’s Apple Jack (Thanks to whomever suggested it a while back) to make it better.

    • Nephilium

I’m always glad to get someone else trying applejack.

A maniac went on a bloody rampage with a machete in Scotland

And he’s slashing like he’s never slashed before.

      • Evan from Evansville

@Ted: At first, I was gonna point at the slasher’s inexperience and compare with the ‘bombing experience’ I mentioned above.

Then I realized what you did done did there, and appreciated it. Slasher couldn’t pull it off like Chris Farley.

An 85-year-old man was arrested after allegedly street racing at over 100 miles per hour in a sports car while smoking a cigarillo.

Leesburg is right next to The Villages, i.e., a bunch of superannuated Boomers who can’t afford to retire to coastal Florida but can afford a Corvette (or in this case, a Corvette and a Nissan 3xxZ).

Florida recently passed a “Super Speeder” law, and certain counties are making a point about enforcing it. Expect to see lots of “Florida Man arrested for doing 120 on a straight section of deserted county road” headlines for a while.

    • Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

I got stopped for doing 122 mph in rural Oklahoma on my motorcycle. Rural road. Cows to the left (fenced). Wheat fields to the right. It was about the safest place to see what she would do. I crested a hill (or what you would call a hill in flatland OK) and saw a car with gear on the roof. I honked on the brakes. My buddy also honked on his brakes. The officer turned around and lit up his cherries. He asked to search our bikes. I said no. He knocked it down to 85 in a 55 mph. Triple digits in OK means they confiscate your vehicle. I consider myself lucky.

      • Threedoor

I got pulled over once doing 85 in a 50 in my 70 Suburban. I’m so glad they didn’t catch me before I slowed down to take the corner they caught me on where I had had the speedometer pegged.

        Gave me a warning.

You’re lucky work gives you a functioning Teams.

I’ve been complaining for months that I have to use the web version and that it doesn’t give me the toast pop-ups, and IT can’t be bothered to do anything.

We have a pretty good team, I have to admit. Of course I am also IT and therefore very competent too if not involved on that side of things.

    • Brochettaward

      It will not.

  15. Brochettaward

I know a lot of you are still on the Trump train. I found his first term rather innocuous for all the hyperbole until Covid. Yada yada. Term two has basically almost justified some of the rhetoric around him and these are the people he surrounds himself with at this point.

    https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jun/20/trump-elon-musk-peter-thiel-retreat

While it is rich seeing the left freak out over a gathering of elites who think they can set a global agenda and shape the world in their image, it doesn’t make it any less shady. The group in question was also founded back in 2006 when Thiel was considered more “libertarian.” And it’s not all ‘conservatives’ on the list here by any stretch even if the left is attempting to paint as such. It’s kind of fun to see Corey Booker among others pretend they have no idea what this outfit does because obviously you attend so many secret gatherings organized by billionaires and attended by some of the most powerful people on the planet that it’s easy to forget.

And of course Epstein was invited…back in 2014. Showing yet again that a little sex trafficking conviction isn’t going to get you kicked out of polite society.

There’s really not much to this story. Just a list of names, some of which are trying to distance themselves from it now because it’s a bad look with Thiel being in bed with Trump’s regime.

It’s really just more of the same shit anyone paying attention has noticed for a long time. It’s a big fucking club among our elites and you and I aint in it. We’re the cattle they want to herd in this or that direction.

    • Ownbestenemy

Other talks include “Build-a-Cult,” moderated by the founder of the Christian networking site Pray.com, and “Build-a-Party,” run by a former White House national security official.

Super serious evil genius stuff there.

The 2014 retreat drew renewed attention this year when an invitation forwarded to the financier Jeffrey Epstein surfaced in the US Justice Department’s release of the Epstein files. A “Jeff Epstein” appears on an attached list of past participants—but the person is actually the former CFO of Oracle, not the deceased sex trafficker.

Oh…but ya, im sure they are eating babies and such.

      • Brochettaward

If it functions like a lot of the rest of these gatherings, there’s different levels to it. These seem to have been quite large with a “diverse” group of people. But you don’t get those power players there to have a public discussion with other rich people on their sex life.

There’s almost certainly mingling that goes on in private.

And it’s hard to deny that Thiel doesn’t have his fingers in a lot of awful crap. And that the world isn’t shaping up how he wants it to.

Another component of this that is odd to me is that they seemed to collect data on the attendees that they wouldn’t probably disclose in most settings from political leanings of attendees which may not have been obvious to other details that they promise not to disclose in general or to other attendees.

Oh…but ya, im sure they are eating babies and such.

You know, there’s really no level of outlandish crap about our “elites” that I would put outside the realm of possibility. These days they are an odd mix of depraved, maniacal, and frankly clownish.

I think there’s little meat to the story as is and it’s kind of more of the same, though because it’s Thiel and he’s involved in MAGA world it’s drawing interest from the anti-Trumpers.

But meetings like this actively shape the direction the world goes in. There’s evidence of that over time.

      • Ownbestenemy

And of course Epstein was invited…back in 2014.

Except..it wasn’t the Notorious Epstein..as the reporting corrected.

Look, I get powerful men/groups drive society, but what are you even getting at?

      • Brochettaward

There are emails from Epstein discussing Dialog. Where are you seeing any retraction or correction on this subject? Thiel has other connections to Epstein in the past as well. Given his publicly known ‘preference’ I don’t think he was engaging with underage girls, but there’s always been far more to the Epstein case than just sex trafficking.

I don’t know why you think I’m pretending to have some secret in-depth knowledge of the events that took place or take place or specific things that resulted from this. I’m noting another shadowy kind of meeting among our elites that is making the rounds because a list of attendees has been leaked by a ‘hacktivist.’

I don’t have some grand conspiracy here or a unified theory of everything with regards to secret cabals that rule us. Just noting it. Why are YOU so worked up over a topic that has been brought up on this site many times in the past

      • Ownbestenemy

Not worked up but my blockquote was straight from an editorial correction from your link about which Epstein was invited. I didn’t just decide to make it up.

      • Brochettaward

Well yes. The list circulating is of seemingly active ‘members.’ Epstein presumably is no longer active, yet still connected.

      • Ownbestenemy

Oddly…i blockquoted the correction in my first reply and its not there anymore.

4.8/10. I’ve acquired a copy and will be watching it tonight. Wish me luck.

    • Threedoor

      Did not know.

    • J. Frank Parnell

      Well, that was something.

Not great, but better than a 4.8. The main problem is that everything is (not particularly good) traditional animation, except the dragons and dragonmen which are all terrible CGI. Younger son couldn’t stop laughing at the dragons.

Kids enjoyed it, though. Older son wants to read the books (which I re-read a few years back and weren’t nearly as good as I remembered them being, when I originally read them at his age), so I’ll have to dig those out of the garage.

2 adults among 4 charged in attack on juveniles, town of Ulster police say

TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y. — Four Kingston residents are facing child endangerment and other charges for a June 15 attack on two youths, police said.

    […]

Ulster Police stated in a press release Friday, June 19, that on Monday, June 15, police were called to a town of Ulster apartment complex for a “fight in progress” involving two juveniles who had allegedly assaulted two other juveniles.

During their initial investigation, police learned that the alleged juvenile assailants approached the victims and began fighting with them, at one point using a baseball bat to strike one of the victims.

The victims left the area and were then approached again by the suspects, where, police said, a second fight happened.

Further investigation revealed that Perez and Smith, who were responsible for the guardianship of one suspect, stood nearby and watched as all of the juveniles continued to fight, police said.

At one point, police said Perez and Smith verbally incited the suspects to continue fighting with the victims.
