Fall is supposed to be here, but the weather hasn’t been told yet. Thankfully, we’re supposed to only be in the mid-70s this weekend, which is the local Oktoberfest. The girlfriend is practicing learning the songs again. But enough about that, let’s get to some links.
Not our world class orchestra!
I’m surprised these aren’t being stopped as a (((plot))).
Microsoft has decided they don’t need the Xbox brand anymore.
Your tax dollars at work!
Maybe don’t call it DomCon?
Ignore the outcry of the fans, TRUST US!
So Lanterns is crap, the response from DC? Hold. My. Beer.
There’s already Ben Reily you fucker.
Huh. I didn’t realize this was the last one in Ohio. I haven’t been in one in 20+ years.
If you can’t handle a full shot, don’t order one at a bar.
When your opponents don’t care about getting called racist anymore, you run out of tools.
And I thought it was bad when they were putting fast food places in high schools.
Isn’t right of conquest a reason for legitimacy?
With Oktoberfest kicking off, I hunted down a German cocktail recipe. I did avoid giving you one that seemed genuinely terrifying (the German Mule), and this is more a cry for help than a cocktail.
Kirsch Royale
- 1 part (0.5 oz) kirschwasser (cherry brandy)
- 2 parts (1 oz) cherry syrup (such as the syrup from your brandied cherries)
- 6 parts (3 oz) sparkling wine
The German take on a Champaign Cocktail, swapping out the bitters for cherry brandy and the sugar for cherry syrup. This is built in a Champaign flute or coupe glass, and can be garnished with a brandied cherry.
With that, I’ll let you get the long weekend started.

Wait, Cleveland has an orchestra?
*rubs eyes* What day is it?
On Tuesday I heard two or three news outlets state that September 1 marks the start of “meteorological fall”. I assume that’s some sort of new, horseshit, made up thing that I’m supposed to incorporate into my life now.
The meteorological definition goes back a couple hundred years.
“(The) definition goes back a couple hundred years.”
PSH! M’gawd! How dare they be so REGRESSIVE! Such *trad* weather, just like their WIVES! Much backward meteorological oppression!!!
I was never into DC as a kid, and now it seems I had good taste even then.
I hope that is just a crude artist’s rendering because those coins are butt-ugly.
We are having Indian Summer and I’m fine with that. One last pool party this weekend.
I have reservations about extended warm weather.
As long as it doesn’t bring in a line of squas with it.
You have to pay 20 wampum for a line of squa’s.
Same as downtown.
Our TGIF in town is still open.
Does that make us special?
Look what they took from us!
Mother. Effer.
That would have been fantastic.
Is it just me or is Adult Swim – other than Bob’s Burgers repeats which I like – mostly crap? None of the newer stuff looks remotely interesting to me.
I would weigh in… but I have no idea what they even have these days.
I enjoy Rick and Morty, the President Curtis spin off hasn’t been terrible (but hasn’t been great either), and I did enjoy Common Side Effects (Mike Judge animation about magic mushrooms and health care). I think all three are Adult Swim, but I’m not sure as I see them on Max.
Nothing that immediately comes to mind, TBH.
Some shorts, some anime, all of it looks like crap to me.
It’s mostly BB followed by Family Guy repeats. I hate Family Guy so really it’s just where I watch BB repeats.
of? R&M? I was never that much into that either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
rhywun:
Yes, it’s a spin off of Rick and Morty.
lol 5 hours a month?!
Have they actually witnessed a gamer in real life?
per… month?
You mean I’ve used my september allotment already?
Oh, that’s the cloud limitations not some definition.
I game locally.
I can’t even imagine.
“Hey customers, FUCK YOU!”
-MS
Devil’s advocate, I think they realized that the costs of running the dedicated compute per user for unlimited cloud gaming cost more than the customers were paying. And after the kerfuffle over the price rises which led to price drops, they have to do something to cut losses on the cloud gaming.
ie, I think those who use it use more than anticipated and they are losing money under the current scheme.
You’d almost think there was a reason we moved from a time-sharing model to the personal computer era in the 1970s.
Dayton’s closed? I hadn’t noticed.
I double checked on the website, because the girlfriend and I both thought the Strongsville one was open too.
Not my scene, but I suspect that may be an exaggeration.
Man. It’s like none of you remember TOS. (Link is fixed now)
Dude – we never read the articles.
It certainly was world class years back. I have a lot of recordings of them but I’ve no idea of their status these days.
They do pop up frequently along with the usual suspects when searching for classical so maybe the claim is not all that far-fetched.
Christoph von Dohnányi (Christopher Dohnanyi) was a long-time (1984-2002)music director and conductor at the Cleveland Symphony. I tended to pick up his recordings over other alternatives.
I was about to name-check Erich Kunzel, but then remembered that’s Cinci. Ope.
So is there no decent classical music west of the Mississippi? 🤔
We’re rockers out west.
Threedoor:
*Clears throat*
Mr. Ilium: Was expecting this. (Not as good as “Five O’Clock World.”
)
Why do you give a shit?
Not to say that my home state doesn’t have its own fucked up liquor laws, but this…this would be adequate cause for violent revolution.
That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Someone attach those legislators to lightposts.
I know we poke fun at environmentalists, but damn that’s wasteful.
Yeah, there aren’t many more types of annoying assholes than enviros but puritans are one of them.
Are pony shots still a thing?
I would think shooting at equines would get people riled up.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065088/
You mean a short pour? For neat liquors yes, for a mixed shot, not generally.
They shoot horses, don’t they?
Donkeys, certainly.
Thought that was canoes.
By the likes of the fucking NYT? Nope. No more shits to give.
Lots of spin and bullshit in that article, as could be expected when you’ve been the gatekeeper of the elitism that has been shitting all over the proles and actively working against them for decades.
Trying to lure MN Munchkin out. Honey Harvest is in Long Prairie? Sunday Sept 20? (Pretty sure I got the date right, but it’s farther away than that, methinks.) Help me out?
She’s in Sauk Centre and is dying to speak to like-minded folk. I may kinda push her to come here to introduce herself before she goes and says hello-sies. (Technically, she owes me $400 I floated her at the beginning of the year.)
Emily.
Emily, MN
Sept 20th
*beams* She says it’s doable.
If I can convince her, what needs doing for someone to post here? When you post does it automatically let you create an account? Methinks not.
I believe we’re still in manual account creation mode. So she’ll need to send in an e-mail with the handle she would want.
*thumbs up*
Well DomCon was about power exchange.
I thought that was RomCon?
1 part (0.5 oz) kirschwasser (cherry brandy)
I’ve had trouble finding real Kirschwasser in NH. I brought a bottle home from Germany before the ‘Rona Panic. Unfortunately, I drank it all.
And, yep, a mistrial in the case where the mom strangled her three kids. Yuh huh. Because, duh? Obviously a dude would also get one in a fit of ‘roid rage, yeah?
I looked up MA’s standards for the insanity defense. I found MA’s jury instructions for when the defendant claims insanity. Basically, the prosecution has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant was not insane. There is no burden of proof on the defendant.
See y’all at ~10pm ET, amirite? I’ve been pre-gaming on The Kraken

In 2025, Little Caesars opened its first location at a Pearl Harbor naval base in Honolulu. Now, the pizza chain is planning to open four new locations at U.S. Navy bases, according to an article by Nation’s Restaurant News.
What happened to the AAFES food court chains Anthony’s Pizza, Frank’s Franks, Robin Hood subs, …?
The Burger King on Fort Rich was much appreciated. An on post pizza delivery would have been great.
I have received 2 WAWR submissions, if I get a few more I can make a post for you people to ignore and instead in the comments complain about commies . So if you have read sommat interesting that you think other Glibs may appreciate, or you just want to humble brag about reading Gravity’s Rainbow or some other nerdy, highbrow, esoteric shit, send your book reviews, criticisms, and summaries to whatarewereading25@proton.me.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. The Hyperbole, president of The Hyperbole Design and Construction Co. Inc. LLC. DBA “Hey Buddy Stop Doing That!”
Goddamn Commies!!!
The best thing about commies that the communists killed more commies than outsiders.
Obligatory blast from the past
The weather gods did not cooperate and the Maui to Oahu race was cancelled last night. Instead of four days of sailing and visits to multiple islands I’ll do …… something?….this weekend.
Kaui is living on a knife edge. If Lowell tracks slightly east of its projected path then the island might get schwacked.
Missouri does not acknowledge September’s social status as the vanguard of fall. It doesn’t really acknowledge October either.
IMNSHO, October is far and away the best month in Michigan.
I remember September and October being more like late Summer when I was in KC for a couple of years. Winter could get fierce, at least during my stint there.
Having spent many Labor Day weekends in the “kneehills” of the Mozarks, can confirm. 🥵
Yeah, October here in the northeast is where it’s at. Summer is at long last definitely over, and the air is crisp and fresh, instead of heavy and gross.
Got married on September 13 (albeit in Nauvoo, Illinois, but it’s comparable). 80F, but sweet breeze low humidity.
It doesn’t start getting comfy around here until the end of October. The November rains are my favorite.
Who’s gonna be around for Honey Harvest? Probability she comes here to check us out? Pretty low, but worth a shot. She’s ~2.5 hours away from Emily, MN. I think it would be an enormous relief and enjoyable experience for her.
*shrug* I’m givin’ it my best.
Would love too but it’s like a three day drive.
I’ve done the drive before. I worked it into a road trip visiting friends across the mid-west and sight seeing.
It can be done.
Let the copycats commence!
Woman fixated on the Clancy trial strangles her two year old.
Long rope.
Short trip.
Septic tank pumped. Looking good! Now need some dry weather to put the new riser in.
I added a rider to mine a couple of years ago. Before I added the riser it was around 40” down. It’s about two feet now.
Good lord! It’s only 24-30″ down (on a slope).
FRANKFORT, Ill. (WLS) — The mother of a 2-year-old who died in a domestic homicide incident earlier this week has been charged with his murder, Frankfort police said Friday.
Corie A. Walsh, 38, was charged in the incident, police said.
—
According to court documents, the defendant told investigators she killed her son because he was “the devil and the anti-Christ.”
Investigators say her husband was out-of-state at the time but returned home after the incident.
Witnesses also told investigators that Walsh had been heavily invested in and texting with others about the Lindsay Clancy trial as the jury was in deliberations, roughly three hours before she allegedly killed her son.”

Uh huh. Um. Fun precedent to set for women who think abortions should be post-partum, cuz why not? Women? Ya might wanna try reeling in the insanity of your chromosomal compatriots. Fuck. Copy school shooters? Why not child killers.
I’m for retroactive abortions.
For these women.
Why can’t they just say “murdered”?
Hanged from a beam in the basement.
As should be her fate.
This was a reply to RC! Ain’t no drugs poppin’ outta my ass. Just, wisdom.
