With the fake Indians making a game 5 winner take all happen here in Cleveland, and the fact that I haven’t been to a playoff baseball game means I picked up a cheap(ish) ticket for the game tomorrow night. The seats are no where near as good as my friend’s seat, nor my Browns seats, but they’ll do. The Browns have to avoid a trap game against the Jets to stay atop the AFC North (although the Falcons have been looking good since they got Penix back). But you care not for my sportsball fandoms, and just want to get to the links.
Another reminder. Don’t try to swim across the river. On the other hand, you may boost the Libertarians if you try.
Beware freeing the Juice!
At least there’s no pineapple.
I think back to the 70s crime novels, where collectables were used as value stores against inflation.
Burn it down. Burn it all down.
Considering the flinches I see when I mention Negro League Baseball, I can believe in the response. I can also think the people responding are whiny little bitches. Don’t ask about the cat.
You mean designing based on use cases instead of nifty tricks? There’s a reason Valve is one of the few tech companies without a large hatedom.
After watching WB shit the bed with Lanterns, Sony’s response: “Hold my beer.”
What’s in a frame? Leaving out that they’re both black belts and ambush each other to keep themselves sharp.
For the drink this week, I’m going with a more modern cocktail after going old for a while. Today, I give you one that should offend at least a handful of you.
This cocktail is basically just whiskey and bitters because Cleveland Browns fans are just that—drunk and bitter.

Brown and Orange
- 5 parts (2.5 oz) rye
- 1 part (0.5 oz) Amaro
- 1 dash aromatic bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
Yes. Someone came up with a Cleveland Browns themed cocktail that doesn’t suck. This is designed to be a simple one to throw together, behind the bar or at the tailgate. It’s built in the serving glass, put some ice (I would go a single large cube if available, what ever is clean at a tailgate) in the glass, add the ingredients, and give it a brief stir. If there happens to be orange twists or wheels available, feel free to toss one on as a garnish.
In knowing what you’re ordering, there’s plenty of drinks with this name on menus at bars all over the area. The ingredients and ratios are not the same between the establishments. You can be pretty sure of whiskey (usually ‘Merican of some kind) and some orange, outside of that, anything goes.
With that, I leave you to the weekend, saying Here we Go Again, and Be a Believer! I hope you get the weekend you’re looking for (outside of you White Sox and Jets fans).

You might say they were being glib about it?
That’s so unbelievably stupid and pointless, I won’t be surprised if there’s congressional hearings about it.
The NFL – Brought to you by Bud Light!
That was my first thought also.
Didn’t someone get fined for pantomiming playing dice as a TD celebration?
Ignore the Draft Kings commercials.
Can’t have the players doing offensive shit on the field. Brought to you by the league that still makes bank from clips showing Lyle Alzado or Dick Butkus borderline trying to kill people on the field.
Who the fuck thinks an adult pretending to drink a beer is offensive?
Pineapple is only offensive on pizza. You can safely put it in a Chicago style casserole.
🙄
One of his stories used a cat with that name also.
Since I have it on Kindle, I wonder if Amazon has changed it yet.
Not that the case was meritorious, but what would “objective disappointment” entail?
Diarrhea.
The Neverending Story having an ending comes to mind. Someone get Lionel Hutz on the phone.
You can take the second out of your ass, but not the ass out of the second.
In sports ball related news. Da Coach Mike Ditka passed away today at the age of 86.
Oh, man. You guys already know what deep dish is, but Altoona-style pizza is one for the books. It’s a rectangular pie that starts with a slightly bready Sicilian-style crust, then it’s topped with tomato sauce (cool), salami (okay!), green bell pepper (sounds good to me), and a slice of…American cheese.
This Lunchables-ass sounding concoction came from the Altoona Hotel (in Altoona, Pennsylvania), and it’s been a hyper-regional specialty since then. As in, it’s probably got some kind of special military containment unit to keep it inside of Altoona.
When I lived in central PA, I wasn’t that far from Altoona and I never heard of this style of pizza. That containment field is good.
My dad tells the story of one time (back when they were dating) my mom cooked my dad a pizza with American cheese on it. Learning that Altoona style pizza existed helped that story make at least some semblance of sense.
outside of you White Sox fans
Hey now. Can we get a narrow gaze here?
Wahoo!
I have a Bob’s Burgers marathon on in the background… the average episode of that is more wholesome for children than anything Disney puts out these days.
Older movies in general are shorter and get right to the point. I would say Sleeping Beauty is the exception, that had a slow start and kids don’t gravitate to that one.
Kids like silly humor, and colors, and cheery songs, and a simple message, and that hasn’t changed.
A family of weirdos who have genuine affection for each other? Unheard of!
That reminds me – I should get my hands on the DVD/Blu-ray of the complete Oblongs .
Bob just told Gene he can’t protect him from every stupid/wrong decision he might make. I think more kids need to learn that one.
Only thing I know about Bob’s Burgers is when it was on Archer because he had a mental breakdown and wound up there.
That was how I learned the same guy did both voices.
H. Jon Benjamin is forever Ben Katz to me.
Bob appeared on Archer? Ha, I haven’t seen that one.
Cheesy ramen? 🤢🤮
Make it Ramen Alfredo and we’ll talk.
Locally, there’s an ice cream shop that changes over to a ramen shop for winter. It hasn’t happened this year yet, but they’ve been on the Food Channel a couple of times. One of the things that draws attention is their Raclette Ramen (recipe is there, but I figure more people will be interested in the tonkotsu stock part of the recipe).
I read that link then immediately went to take a shit.
I bought an engraved dog collar on Etsy from the Ukraine. It lasted about a month. Couldn’t stand-up to my little asshole’s constant pulling. The metal hook that the leash attaches to bent completely and apparently it wasn’t a solid piece to begin with. Or he broke it in two because it was so cheap.
But the thing was loosening constantly to where he could slip it if I didn’t keep adjusting it.
We’re all

Bar life. I don’t miss it.
We were just talking about the clubs we used to frequent before we were married. There was a lot of “ugh that place”. I don’t miss it either.
I never went to clubs.
Married my high-school sweetheart, so I guess I was never in the market for company.
Okay, I’m triggered now.
Google nooz has a photo of a sailor fresh off the Abe Lincoln kissing his (presumed) wife and baby.
Which reminds me of the time the famous (ICONIC!) Times Square V-Day Kiss photo was recast as an example of horrific sexual violence and institutional rape culture.
Is there nothing these people won’t shit all over?
Better than when they were proud of the male sailor kissing his husband.
My kid and her sailor recreated that Times Square photo outside the courthouse on their wedding day. It turned out amazing. I hope they stay married just so that photo isn’t wasted. 😉
“Considering the flinches I see when I mention Negro League Baseball..”
Fun Fact: The Negro Leagues Baseball museum has been a reliable source of money laundering via KC officials for decades. Millions of dollars have been invested in it over the years and it’s still little more than a hallway and a room.
Pointing this out is racist, apparently.
Bananaball has done more to bring back the history of the Negro Leagues than anyone I’m aware of.
