I think the accessory to murder kids have the lighter bail.
The article also says two of them tossed into jail, but only references the one who broke conditions of that bail by getting a DUI.
Who knows I guess.
I can believe that there were yoots in the car that had absolutely no idea that a murder was about to happen and that some prosecutor wanted to build a career Nifong-style.

Owen Jones is wrong about neoliberalism
The economically illiterate commentator cannot see the world as it is
https://thecritic.co.uk/owen-jones-is-wrong-about-neoliberalism/
Owen Jones tells us that Britain — indeed, the West more generally — deindustrialised in the early 1980s as a result of neoliberalism and ‘Fatchter.
…
What did happen is that manufacturing employment declined. But then there are two further things here. Manufacturing has been falling as a percentage of the global economy. As happened with agriculture a century before, we’re just getting better at it, the output becomes cheaper and so as a percentage of what we do it declines. Even as — as with agriculture over that longer period — we manufacture ever more it falls as a percentage of everything.
…
The thing that Jones really wants to show is that neoliberalism is bad. More markets, globalisation, fewer unions, less government planning, these are bad things. Therefore everything bad that has happened this past half-century is a result of neoliberalism. Which is why intervention in Iraq was neoliberalism, in Afghanistan, why Israel in Gaza is neoliberalism. Because those are all bad things — wholly arguable as that point is — therefore they are neoliberalism. Because neoliberalism is bad, these are bad things, they must be neoliberalism. QED.
I saw him interviewed on Triggernometry. Jones is an idiot.
I was just going to say the same thing.
Although, he did prove that liberals/leftists do not believe in the market. So, we have that going for us.

Thatcher and Reagan have long been boogeymen of the left.
Parents of a friend of mine have been convinced since the 90s that social security is a failure because Reagan spent the money to buy an aircraft carrier.
Last week the mom told me that they were starting up the draft again for Iran.
Logic can not reach these people.
I dunno WTF “neoliberalism” is supposed to mean but I have a problem with one of the items on that list myself.
like neoliberalism, globalisation can mean many things.
Like so much political BS it is a handy cover for hiding any number of agendas.
Neo-liberalism refers to a return to the liberal economic policies of the 1920s.
Which, in the eyes of the left was the cause of the great depression, and not the panic following one bank having been over leveraged and collapsing.
That may be what “neoliberalism” originally meant. But now, like “fascism”, it’s simply code for “things I don’t like”.

“A Tinder date rape victim is still searching for justice more than a year after a Manhattan judge let her attacker off with no prison time — telling The Post the shocking sentence was a “slap in the face.”
Pamela Adelgren — an aspiring fashion designer whose career was shattered after she was sexually assaulted in 2020 — is now hauling her convicted rapist, William Knapp Hathaway IV, to federal court to face a civil case….
The pair met on Tinder in February 2020 and began a consensual sexual encounter at Hathaway’s apartment following their data at SoHo House, according to prosecutors.
But when Adelgren decided she wanted to stop — and said so at least five times — Hathaway pushed her into his bed and proceeded to rape her, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said.”

Dogs can smell blood sugar?
CGMs are a thing…
That’s crazy talk… How can you set up a lawsuit using a CGM?
Dogs can smell blood sugar? – yes, service dogs for diabetes are a thing. Not sure what they smell but they can be accurate. Great Dane is a bit much though. Especially strange since such large dogs often live few years is it worth it to train them as service dogs? One should also think if a dog is fit for purpose when getting one, service dog or not, rather than just looking and dogs and saying I lie this one. To many people do not take into account breed particularities if they like how a dog looks.
Time to re-arrange the entire airline industry to accommodate gigantic service dogs, I guess.
Open your wallets.
Or, people with large service dogs can just buy a seat for it.
Problem solved.
Not fair!
Its not really smelling blood sugar but recognizing the signs of a low/high blood sugar mannerism in its owner.
And ya, a Great Dane seems to be a poor choice of breed in terms of longevity and practicality
The dogs actually are smelling the signs of low blood sugar, specifically isoprene, which increases noticeably in exhaled breath during hypoglycemic episodes. They can detect low blood sugar up to 30 minutes before physical symptoms appear, hence their utility.
The more you know. Thanks for educating my brain
I would think a blood glucose monitor would be more reliable and last longer than carting a 120-pound dog all over the place.
dogs have something like 100 to 1000 more scent receptors than humans.

Under “dictator” Mao, life expectancy in China increased by 30 years, literacy rates went from 20% to 70%, steel output grew from 1 million to 23 million tons, 47 million hectares of land was taken from landlords and given to peasants, and China was unified under a strong central state and got nuclear weapons.
Despite his failures, it does not take a rocket scientist to understand why Mao is revered in China.
https://x.com/haugejostein/status/2115221579260916141

When I was in Russia in the 90s Stalin still had a lot of admirers too.
When I toured there in 2001 you could read the faces of anyone who dared to veer into speaking of such matters and glean their real thoughts about it.
(China, that is.)
One of the things i learned about Russia is that, with all the craziness they have gone through over the decades, they really just want stability. Napoleon, Civil War, WWII, end of communism, etc. and never having had anything like a constitution or democracy, they just want things to be predictable.
“And now it seems she reportedly wanted to make the lives of New York Times reporter Katherine Rosman’s children “miserable” because the journalist had investigated how Griffin’s very serious allegations reverberated within her hometown of Amarillo, Texas….
In doing so, the paper poked some serious ethical holes in her memoir, including the possibility the first-time author had lifted the harrowing abuse accusations from another female classmate. In March of 2026, a woman who grew up with Griffin sued the billionaire investor saying the published account mirrored her own. Griffin countersued….
But when the Times appeared to pop some of that bubble wrap, she didn’t make herself available to the paper. Instead she hired a law firm, that attacked the reporters for the “mere sending” of fact-checking questions, writing that it “caused additional trauma and extreme physical and emotional harm to a survivor of sexual assault, which is inexcusable.”

For us neo-kremlinologists, the magazine has been unduly generous in the last week, providing two interesting snapshots into the neuroses and instincts of the lumpenintelligentsia at the present moment. Before I go any further, it is important to add that these people are not uniformly specious or slow on the uptake — like the Soviet intelligentsia in the 1970s, it includes many highly intelligent and perceptive people, who may be thoughtful or even forthright about the crises that beset us, but only discreetly and on an individual basis. In the atmosphere of stultifying intellectual conformity that they inhabit, what matters is what they feel comfortable discussing and admitting in public

Spain’s high-speed rail: the advanced safety system failed, so the control center “inexplicably” ordered the train to proceed at full speed into a stationary one. At least 68 people helped prove how well that design works. Two days earlier in Poland, a tanker trapped at a level crossing only survived by breaking the barrier in the final seconds — a live demo of the “don’t enter if you can’t exit” rule.
Apparently the safety systems are mostly for writing reports afterward. When it actually matters, you’re still better off breaking the barrier yourself.
https://x.com/shuyihealing/status/2115706206006489454
That truck got trapped because the idiot driver followed a car that closely through a RR crossing for some reason.
What does that have to do with the Spanish tragedy?
My thoughts too. Perhaps the train was supposed to detect that truck in time?
Presently being installed on every American passenger train.
Fun fact: the mini-subway (PATH) that connects Manhattan to New Jersey (there is a station five minutes from me) is classified as a Federal Railway and comes with all the increased regulation (and cost) you can imagine with that.
the one in spain is from the 70s. I assume you are installing newer.
The 70s?!
Around the time Germany started building high-speed too. Surely they have had the time and piles of money to upgrade since then.
I’m sure it’s the latest and greatest here in the US, not that it won’t eventually fuck up too at some point. Kind of the nature of technology.
it is in fact a german system, the one they made for their early high speed rail. The have been talking about updating it for years. But did not. Not enough graft probably.

Terrible news
The U.S. economy grew faster in the summer compared to the spring, driven by consumer spending as well as investments in AI.
Gross domestic product, which broadly measures economic activity, grew at an annual rate of 3.4% July through September, according to a report from the Commerce Department released Thursday. The previous quarter GDP grew at a 2.2% annual pace.
A big driver for GDP growth in the third quarter was the strong investments from AI companies, which continue to build out data centers and spend big money in developing the technology.
Meanwhile, consumer spending was another of the big drivers of GDP growth, led in part by higher-income Americans who are better able to withstand stubbornly high inflation.
Despite the best efforts of the narrative industrial complex, the depression has been postponed.
So, the tradesmen have money in their pockets and are unlikely to be lined up with Dem hatred of data centers.
That can’t possibly have an impact on the election.
An army busy of mine is an electrician in Indy. He’s spent the last 12 years or so pulling wire and fibre in Amazon warehouses and data centers. He says the projects are huge and years long contracts. He’s about 80% one of us. We had the data center conversation a couple months ago. He pretty much waved it off as being dumb and for low information voters like I do. Sadly they are legion.
Water is wet.
We are not doing enough to help the vast ranks of The Poor who are prevented from joining them for some reason.
The sturdy GDP data comes just days before the midterm elections, with many Americans saying they feel gloomy about the economy as inflation jacks up the costs of many day-to-day necessities, while the ongoing conflict with Iran drives up energy costs like gasoline.
Don’t look at the data. Trump hangs over the world like a miasma of doom.
An orange miasma.
Some bromine gas?
“Now we understand why Trump didn’t want them released. Just a week before the midterm elections, which are already shaping up to be a bloodbath for the GOP, Democrats have dropped a bombshell. “A growing body of evidence demonstrates that Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s,” states a just-released report from the Democrats of the House Judiciary Committee. Additionally, they claim that Trump has leveraged his FBI and DOJ to cover up the evidence, and have now called for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate any potential wrongdoing.”
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2026/10/donald-trump-epstein-files-new-report-women-rape.html
🙄
They had at least six years to release this alleged evidence, and only chose now?
Exactly. It’s 100% bullshit.
And the names of more than three or four of the ‘victims.’
Yup, bullshit.
You know the Obama and Biden minions were feverishly trying to come up with something and couldn’t.
Obama and Biden not going after Trump has less to do with Trump being in it (or not), and more to do with either who else is in it. Or who was running it.
Trump has lied (or charitably his campaign did) about his past association with Epstein, his gungo ho release everything campaign point (which he pushed) was quickly shitcanned once in office. Still zero prosecutions of any of the johns that all those women were trafficked for, other than Maxwell and one or two other enablers.
Well good, release what they have about Trump and let us decide. I doubt it will be anything earth-shattering but who knows.
Well the Reps at the direction of Trump’s dumb ass refused even cursory investigations when they solidly held congress and could therefore shape the narrative. Probably bullshit but they deserve what they get.
As does Trump for pushing the files as a candidate and making it an issue.
Absolutely GL, funny to see this boomeranging and biting him in the ass.
The Epstein files have apparently grown to include anyone just talking about the Epstein Files. We’re all in the Epstein Files now.
Economists also are concerned about the country’s long term fiscal health. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, warns that despite solid GDP figures, economic growth feels delicate. That’s due to business and consumers having to navigate around Trump Administration policies, such as tariffs and the U.S. war against Iran.
“We’re growing,” Zandi said. “The economy is moving forward but it’s a very, very fragile growth. It doesn’t feel like we’re kicking it in on all cylinders.”
If we can just hang on until the socialists take charge.
Experts say
El Niño is a natural climate pattern that starts in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Every few years, a vast area of water in the eastern Pacific warms near the equator. That water releases enormous amounts of heat into the atmosphere, shifting weather patterns around the world. This year, meteorologists say the planet could experience the strongest one on record.
This El Niño weather pattern is on top of warming temperatures that result from fossil fuel emissions, which trap more heat in the atmosphere.
Gotta get that climate warming boilerplate in there.

The VW Group is struggling to turn its electric vehicle push into stronger profits, with the German automotive conglomerate openly acknowledging that battery-powered cars still generate lower earnings than their combustion-engine counterparts. The admission comes as the automaker faces mounting pressure from China, U.S. tariffs, and intensifying competition in Europe.

They seem to have missed the boat on hybrids.
The EPA screwed them on diesels.
Bastards.
But here’s the kicker: The VW Group must sell more EVs to lower its fleet-wide CO₂ emissions and avoid potentially hefty fines for missing EU regulatory targets. That puts the automaker between a rock and a hard place: it needs to sell more electric cars to stay compliant, even though those vehicles currently generate lower profits than combustion-engine models.
Haha, suckers.
How does that hair shirt feel now?
You have to empty a few bank accounts if you want to heal the planet. You do want to heal the planet, don’t you?
They seem to have missed the boat on hybrids.
