Big Sweet-But-Dumb Cat was a brave little soldier at the vet yesterday and got a clean bill of health. The vet was even OK with his weight! 😸

He didn’t want to get in the carrier before we left home, but once we got into the exam room, he didn’t want to come out.
What about getting him back in the carrier after the exam, or out once you got home?
I don’t remember the vet or assistant having any trouble getting him back in, and once we got home and I set the carrier down in the kitchen, he was out like a shot.
So it just sounds like he wanted to be home.
Yup. Not sure if he ran off to find his buddy or to find the food first.
Wrestling mine into a carrier was always a huge challenge, on par with giving them medicine or trying to trim their claws (which I gave up on very early).
Getting a carrier with a hatch in the top helped, though he still did the spread eagle move to resist getting put in.

Laly went to the groomer yesterday. She hasn’t entirely forgiven me yet. The groomers charged me extra because it took two people, but she didn’t attempt to bite either of them, so she’s welcome back. She hasn’t been this fluffy since she was a wee pup.
Pro tip: next time tell her she’s going to the salon. Ladies LOVE going to the salon! And she’s no doubt heard bad things about those evil “groomers.” 😳

I most recently saw it on a demotivational poster… that I have hanging on my wall at home.

I put it up there because I was reducing the amount of personal items at work, and there was already a nail left by the previous owner I would rather cover up than remove.
“Mental Health Days”. Why not? $employer gives us one each quarter, a practice started during the early days of the covid panic. It’s almost as if they realized that isolating people from human contact might have negative consequences.
I get five personal days a year that don’t roll over. There’s no reason required for using personal days, it’s the only category under which mental health days would qualify.
We have self-directed time off (no limits, as much as your manager will tolerate), so the idea that management is “giving” something to employees is just social signaling.
It’s taught at home.
We need to revisit the idea of orphanages or group homes for kids or something. Those kids are straight up screwed, maybe just as bad as the people around them they’ll be sure to victimize in the future.

Not a whole lot of visual difference. The fur is shorter, but the coat doesn’t take up a volume much different than it did before, each hair is just more upright. I did have them take off the feathers since they are just burr-gathering regions now.
