Every day, I wake up and pray for the death of my ex-wife. On the first of the month, I send out an extra prayer as I grit my teeth and send off the California-alimony-for-life to that freeloader. And today is that day. Not that I’m bitter or anything, but… I’m bitter as fuck. The stupid cunt refuses to get cancer or some other wasting disease. This seems unreasonable and cosmically unfair. Well, at least the truly saintly SP has, from her perch in Heaven, sent me Prime, so I got that goin’ for me. Which is nice.
But the opposite of death is life, where we celebrate birth, and today’s selection includes a guy who only wrote one thing, but certainly hit for the cycle; the guy who literally put Salt Lake City on the map; a real mixed bag on the Supremes, but I’ll forgive a lot for his views on incorporation; a real wizard of Hollywood; star of one of the funniest and under-appreciated movies ever (“Last name first, first name, middle name last, fill it out…”); an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in superb tiddies; a true punk star; a slightly less evil version of Al Sharpton; the best casting choice for God since Alanis Morrissette; the best movie sheriff ever; a rather faceless actor; one of a trio who wrote the most fearsome textbook I ever wrestled with; a guy who almost caught Robert deNiro; a fellow dog-lover; and speaking of God (non-speaking)…
But the Links speak loudest.
This is something that has interested me recently. I scored some and I’m trying to use it in a few different ways. But I admit that I don’t get aromas like the descriptions- it smells to me like mothballs in a cedar chest.
This is a chain that has a near-monopoly, but has always maintained quality. Very counter-intuitive. No wonder everyone got excited.
“…according to Hamas.” Which is being dutifully reported as factual by the usual useful idiots and of course the grifters.

You mean that when we subsidize millions of Jew-haters, they hate Jews? Incroyable!
I’m most offended by the abuse of language. The actual performances just bore the fuck out of me.
It’s been too long since the Old Guy posted a James McMurtry tune. Far too long. Herewith, a correction.

You may be guilty of being a vegetarian, but I call bullshit on the study.
The only trait that seems constant to most vegetarians / vegans (thank God, not OMWC or WebDom) is Ivy League syndrome.
How do you know someone went to the Ivy League / is vegetarian…. wait 5 minutes — they’ll tell you in great detail.
An atheist, a vegan, and a crossfitter walked into a bar. I only know because they told everybody in the first 5 minutes.

Not eating meat to show your individuality? Just eat tasty animals and get a stupid tattoo to show your individuality like everybody else does.
Don’t forget the piercings!
And hair dye.
Oh, and be sure that the tattoo is somewhere on the face so it’s not covered up.
I first read that as “Don’t forget the cannoli” and thought you were about to take us all out in a secluded area of New Jersey or something.
The piercings are most important. Every time I see super stretched out earlobes I know I’m talking to a serious person.
There’s a senior supervisor where I work with coke can sized ear lobe piercings, but we’re 100% remote and he’s rarely seen on camera.
Gauges are so gross.

The dangers of child marriage.
Texas has no alimony but I got divorced in NJ. I also got custody of my kids, fortunately.
A few years later I danced a little jig when I got the word…
California has alimony. Every month I have the pleasure of paying my ex-wife more than my mortgage payment.
I am one of those rare females who has to pay alimony to an ex husband every month.
I ceded the completely paid-off house to him in the divorce thinking that would satisfy his needs, but he still whines to me now and then about property tax or car registration. Pretty sure he could get a part time job as a Walmart greeter to cover that, but no.
I am fortunate that Nevada divorce has a default end date on alimony. In the meantime he can continue to live on a quarter of my salary, as well as my car payments on the auto loan for his Tesla model Y.
My attorneys said I was being very generous. I think they meant I was a sucker.
Staying within the topic of Alimony – I don’t think it should exist. But if it does exist not only should it be time limited since the recipient is presumably a grown adult, but it should ramp down over the duration since they can get their crap together and support themselves.
@HS I’m jealous of your end date
@UCS I never rooted for inflation but it does make each payment worth less.

Happy birthday Antonio Vivaldi!

Happy Birthday, George Burns!
Oh, wait – that would have been BEFORE Alanis Morrissette.

My first thought as well.
Qommittee (pronounced committee)? It’s not the stupid spelling of the thing that’s pronounced like the thing that means basically the same thing that gets me, it’s the unhinged performative narcissism.
I doubt any of the mentioned “attacks” actually happened. The source certainly isn’t going to question it nor provide anything even approaching a balanced look at the issues.
Next you’re going to tell me Jussie Smollett wasn’t attacked by redneck MAGA bigots in downtown Chicago.
Does being uninterested in seeing the show count as an attack?
Inattention is literally violence. 🙄
I’d watch it again — but I really have no time for it. Morning all… sorry our family court system hasn’t adapted to Strong , Independent Women ™ OMWC.

I love a good “titty streamer upset that men keep looking at her titties” story.
You mean when your entire career as a celebrity is based on your looks, you get attention from thirsty men who aren’t attractive? It just can’t be true!
She really needs to get over herself. These guys are pursuing her to get autographs to resell. I doubt they’d turn down a tryst, but their motives are mostly financial.
It’s on the level of the women that go to the gym with their tits half hanging out and tights that go halfway up their ass so they can clandestinely record men who catch a glance and shame them (for clout of course). Go to hell lady.

So what is everyone drinking?
I am havin a nice light romanian pinot noir, a nice surprise in a country where much pinot is jammy and 14+ % alc. More like a alto adige than a burgundy, 12% with a bunch of red fruit and forest floor.

“Swedish activist Greta Thunberg will sail to Gaza this weekend aboard a humanitarian aid ship — a voyage critics are urging her to buy a one-way ticket for.
The 22-year-old climate advocate, along with several other high-profile activists, will embark on the “Madleen” from Catania, Sicily on Sunday to deliver vital supplies to the Palestinian people in Gaza and protest Israel’s months-long blockade there.
The World Health Organization has warned that Gaza is at risk of famine because of the blockade, with three-quarters of its population suffering “emergency” or “catastrophic” food deprivation.”

“The party of the working class lost a big chunk of the working class,” Walz said. “That last election was a primal scream on so many fronts.”

A. Stop trying to convert children.
B. See A.
Excellent advice only a small contingent will acknowledge.
That’d go a long way towards solving the problem if the problem actually exists. If they’re doing it in private with a bunch of consenting adults very few people care.
Of course. Drag was always an adult activity. Nobody cared until they started bumping and grinding in front of children.
I mean, tbh, I was a church kid, and my parents probably wouldn’t have given a shit about me seeing a drag show when I was a kid, because they thought the whole thing was kitschy and funny. My step brother got chewed out one Halloween for coming to our Christian school dressed in drag as a costume, and my parents told the principle, lighten up FFS, it’s a gag. But then, drag shows in the ’90s didn’t typically involve 11 year old boys dancing on stage with adult gay men shoving singles in their waistband.
I guess it depends. In my time and place, drag was basically burlesque for gays. Adults only.
Yeah, true, Spokane hadn’t turned into Seattle and Portland’s retarded kid brother yet in those days, so the scene was a bit different.
“Billie Piper has replaced Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, with the character regenerating during the finale of science-fiction series Doctor Who, the BBC has revealed.

She will now be the second woman to take on the role as the Time Lord after Jodie Whittaker portrayed the 13th doctor.”

Why do they keep doubling down on stupid?
State funding, the agenda is more important than the £££.
The lengths the BBC has gone to draw, quarter, and burn Dr. Who to ash are even more impressive than Disney Star Wars. Bury that shit already.

Booker drew some of the most thunderous applause of the weekend at a convention in which many of California’s own congressional delegates, including Sen. Adam Schiff and battleground Rep. Derek Tran, spoke. The audience roared especially loudly after Booker quipped about missing the Obama years — and former First Lady Michelle Obama in particular.
“I miss Obama, and I miss her husband too,” Booker said.
Ahh, the good old days.

That’s what I was thinking.

Keen is great, but I suspect you’ve had a couple of strokes.
“The war in Gaza continues, and Trump’s favored negotiator Steve Witkoff expressed his frustration Saturday with Hamas’ intransigence in ongoing negotiations, but never fear: the governments of France and Saudi Arabia are rushing in to save the day. They’re planning to come to New York City, which is an odd choice of venue, as it is neither in France nor Saudi Arabia, next month in order to establish that entity that all too many people still fondly assume will bring a definitive end to the jihad against Israel: a Palestinian state. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, however, takes a dim view of the French-Saudi plans, and has offered the French some barbed advice on how to proceed…..
The change in Israeli opinion on this issue came about largely because of Hamas’ brutal massacre of 1,200 Israelis. Huckabee observed succinctly: “Oct. 7 changed a lot of things.” Then he offered a modest proposal to the French diplomats who apparently plan to establish a Palestinian state without any input at all from the Israelis: “If France is really so determined to see a Palestinian state, I have a suggestion for them–carve out a piece of the French Riviera and create a Palestinian state.”

Truth
Harvard’s battles with President Donald Trump over funding and restrictions on teaching and admissions presented another challenge for the thousands of graduates who started college as the world was emerging from a pandemic and later grappled with student-led protests over the war in Gaza.
“We leave a campus much different than the one we entered, with Harvard at the center of a national battle of higher education in America,” one of the student speakers, Thor Reimann, told his fellow graduates. “Our university is certainly imperfect, but I am proud to stand today alongside our graduating class, our faculty, our president with the shared conviction that this ongoing project of veritas is one that is worth defending.”
Other schools face the loss of federal funding and their ability to enroll international students if they don’t agree to the Trump administration’s shifting demands. But Harvard, which was founded more than a century before the nation itself, has taken the lead in defying the White House in court and is paying a heavy price.
Poor little downtrodden Harvard, standing up to the ogre Trump, speaking their truth to his power.

Sustained by a $53 billion endowment, the nation’s wealthiest university is testing whether it can be a bulwark against Trump’s efforts to limit what his administration calls antisemitic activism on campus, which Harvard sees as an affront to the freedom to teach and learn nationwide.
That government money can’t come with strings attached. That would be fascism.
JFC. They cannot help themselves, I guess.
Harvard President Alan Garber disputed the government’s allegations, saying in a letter this month that the school is nonpartisan and has taken steps to root out antisemitism on campus. He insisted that Harvard is in compliance with the law, calling the federal sanctions an “unlawful attempt to control fundamental aspects of our university’s operations.”
Fastidiously nonpartisan, open to all avenues of legitimate intellectual inquiry.
I’m impressed he kept a straight face while calling Harvard nonpartisan.

Woke up too early today. Yesterday me had boiled pasta shells for today me, so I finished the job this morning by adding green peas, green onion, bell pepper, sliced black olives, diced Swiss cheese, crumbled bacon, and a mayo-sour cream dressing. Yum! I will be living on that for the next couple days.
Too early for what? Sounds like you are making good use of your day.
Too early for my regular schedule.
Problem is that I have temporal lobe epilepsy, and I have 2 seizure triggers: 1) fever, and 2) lack of sleep.
So I really do need sleep. Fortunately my large kitty cat has just crawled up on me, so I am now pinned to the bed by a giant warm purr monster. That helps me sleep. ❤️
Other speakers were more direct. Speaking in Latin, salutatorian Aidan Robert Scully delivered a speech laced with references to Trump policies.
“I say this: … Neither powers nor princes can change the truth and deny that diversity is our strength,” Scully said.
It was a sentiment echoed by Yurong “Luanna” Jiang, a Chinese graduate who studied international development. She described growing up believing that the “world was becoming a small village” and finding a global community at Harvard. But she worries that world view is increasingly under threat.
“We’re starting to believe those who think differently, vote differently or pray differently, whether they are across the ocean or sitting right next to us, are not just wrong — we mistakenly see them as evil,” she said. “But it doesn’t have to be this way.”
Bless their precocious little hearts.
Bless their CCP indoctrination.

Luanna, I want you to take this personally. Harvard has destroyed you as a person.

“Working from home? It’s so much nicer if you’re a man
I’m wary of gendered generalisations. They rightly raise hackles: we are unique, not defined by gender, not all men! But I was struck by one I read from Ella Risbridger in her review of Jessica Stanley’s recent novel, Consider Yourself Kissed. Exploring one of its themes, Risbridger wrote: “I have long noticed that in a house with one spare room and a heterosexual couple who both work from home, the spare room is where he works – with a door that shuts and perhaps even a designated desk – and she works somewhere else. (Always for good reasons, but always.)”
This stopped me in my tracks. Not because it’s my experience: my husband and I are lucky enough to have an office each, and mine is bigger and objectively nicer. I get the garden view; he has the ballet of Openreach and Amazon vans. (See – not all men.) It’s not Stanley’s experience either: she uses the spare bedroom; her husband has half the living room, she told the Cut’s Book Gossip newsletter.”
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jun/01/working-from-home-its-so-much-nicer-if-youre-a-man
My generalization is based on three counter-examples because I’m a feminist retard.
Mrs F has the upstairs (which is where the kitchen is)
I have the downstairs and the wood burning stove
We both know our place
In our old house, my husband got the office. I didn’t like it, but he’s the one actually supporting the family (and my writing) and thus, deserves the perqs.
In our new house, he doesn’t have a great space, but it’s in his mancave, so he’s close to his big-ass TV and his personal laptop. He doesn’t like his work space, but he likes where it is. I have the office.
Wicked witch of the midwest
In another heated exchange, a man — who identified himself as a Navy veteran and retired school superintendent — grilled Ernst about Trump’s authoritarian style of governing.
“Are you afraid of Trump? Are you corrupt like Trump? Or are you just at the point that you don’t care anymore and that’s why you don’t do anything?,” the man asked to cheers.
Her response set off another round of dissenting yells.
“Obviously I don’t agree because I don’t think our country is being destroyed,” she said as the crowd offered shouts in protest.
After the event, Ernst posted a message to social media, appearing unbothered by the turn of events at the town hall.
What do you mean you don’t believe the country is being destroyed? Don’t you read the New York Times?
The next day, she appeared to stand firm in her remarks while taking a sarcastic tone a video shared to her Instagram stories.
Appearing on camera with what look like tombstones in the background, Ernst said: “I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize for a statement that I made yesterday at my town hall.”
“I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium understood that yes, we are all going to perish from this Earth,” she continued, adding that she’s glad she didn’t have to bring up the subject of the tooth fairy.
“But for those that would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I encourage you to embrace my lord and savior, Jesus Christ,” she said.
Hate speech.
Much brave
Overcoming intense pressure to quit from President Trump, dozens of local protesters and other prominent critics of transgender athletes in girls’ sports, 16-year-old AB Hernandez bounded past many of her peers to win multiple gold medals at California’s high school track and field championships Saturday.
The transgender junior from Jurupa Valley High School — who competed despite a directive from Trump that she be barred from doing so — won state titles in the girls’ triple jump and the girls’ high jump and took second place in the girls’ long jump.
Hernandez’s success at the 2025 CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis came amid high heat — with temperatures above 100 degrees for much of the day — and under an intense spotlight.
Not just a victory over hate and MAGA oppression, it was a blow against global warming.
The stunning courage to compete against girls!
Hernandez’s mother, Nereyda Hernandez, heaped praise on her after the events in a statement provided to The Times, saying, “As your mother, I cannot fully express how PROUD I am of you.”
“Watching you rise above months of being targeted, misunderstood, and judged not by peers, but by adults who should’ve known better, has left me in awe of your strength,” her mother said. “Despite it all, you stayed focused. You kept training, you kept showing up, and now you’re bringing THE GOLD HOME!!!

I recently had a cardiac calcium scan done. Not surprisingly, Im starting to get clogged up (family history).
Now its time for some lifestyle changes until the inevitable re-plumbing.
I asked for an angiogram to definitively pin down just how bad things are, but havent heard back from the cardiologist.

Good.
“On May 23, for example, the Justice Department terminated an agreement with Patriot Bank, a Tennessee-based lender accused of failing to lend in predominantly Black and Latino neighborhoods in Memphis, from 2015 to 2020. Prosecutors used statistical evidence to show disparities in the bank’s lending practices alongside evidence of intentional discrimination, such as targeting most of its advertising in majority-White neighborhoods.”

True.
And that’s ok.
I’m a magpie. This is involved and colorful enough to catch my eye, but not gaudy enough to cross my threshold of good taste.
Trump first latched onto transgender issues with fervor during his presidential campaign, spending millions of dollars on anti-transgender political ads. Since being elected, he has issued a wave of executive orders and other policies aimed at rolling back transgender rights and protections.
Those poor little transactivists were just minding their own business, trying to fit in, and Trump came after them out of nowhere.
I realized last night that I don’t mind drag A) because it’s a harmless nighttime adult entertainment/hobby
