I finally got some new Lily vids
I have been spending most of my time away from home lately. Today I have the second half of the annual two-day local match, and in three days I head out for New Hampshire for the Area 7 match. I hate a certain hotel chain so freaking much right now. Fortunately I have an excellent boarder and Lily really does like it there. After that then things should calm way down until October with maybe a couple of exceptions.
The next two weeks show some bad signs. The week starts out with the Moon and Mercury joining up to cause mischief, and also today, Saturn goes station retrograde. So, yeah. And to make things worse, the moon aligns with it Saturday-ish, indicating some sort of disaster involving water. Flood, shipwreck, spring going dry, not sure exactly. But if you have a boating trip, be sure your PFDs are on board.
Cancer: Ace of Wands – This means your spring will NOT run dry. So, you’ve got that going for you. There’s a lot of metaphorical reinterpretation of the idea of “spring” that also apply here.
Leo: King of Coins – Vice, weakness, ugliness, perversity, corruption, peril.
Virgo: Eight of Cups – The decline of a matter, or that a matter which has been thought to be important is really of slight consequence.
Libra: 6 of Coins reversed – Desire, cupidity, envy, jealousy, illusion.
Scorpio: Knight of Swords reversed – Imprudence, incapacity, extravagance.
Sagittarius: 3 of Wands reversed – The end of troubles, suspension or cessation of adversity, toil and disappointment.
Capricorn: 10 of Swords – Pain, affliction, tears, sadness, desolation.
Aquarius: The High Priestess reversed – Passion, ardor, conceit, surface knowledge.
Pisces: 5 of Wands reversed – Litigation, disputes, trickery, contradiction.
Aries: The Empress reversed – Light, truth, the unravelling of involved matters, public rejoicings, vacillation.
Taurus: 7 of Cups – Illusions, fantasies, false or temporary achievements.
Gemini: 9 of Coins reversed – Roguery, deception, voided project, bad faith.
I know we have at least one Hobby Lobby fan here.

Sagittarius: 3 of Wands reversed – The end of troubles, suspension or cessation of adversity, toil and disappointment.
I’m getting laid? Woohoo!
Well, I AM getting a semi-annual incentive in my pay this week, but I’m trying very hard not to go crazy with it.
We had a bit of wind on Friday. Two trees are badly broken (split down to the trunk) and will need to be removed. Another tree is badly damaged, but the broken limbs can be cut out and the tree saved.
I planted these trees 20 years ago when we moved into the house. I’ll plant replacements, but 20 years is a long time for an old man to wait to see them mature.
I’m sorry you lost two of your trees. What type are they?
Autumn Blaze Maple
We planted 10 trees 20 years ago. We’ve lost major branches out of the trees over the years, but they tend to recover quickly. We lost one tree completely last year. It’s down the side of the property, so its loss isn’t terrible.
This time we are going to lose two trees from the front yard. There will be a huge gap in the cluster of trees that I put there. Oh well.
I’m relieved you’re blasé about the loss of your blazé maples.
Resignation at this point.
Sorry.
Any other damage? No one hurt?
The roof has been inspected. No damage.
No injuries.
We had guests for the weekend, so they finally got to see a good Iowa thunderstorm. I’m guessing the winds peaked at 50 to 70 mph.
Autumn Blaze was a relatively new hybrid 20 years ago. They are gorgeous in the fall. But they are proving to be somewhat fragile as they approach their mature height.

Good.

Maples tend to look really good in the Fall. For some reason, my sugar maple looks rather dull in the Fall unlike other sugar maples in the neighborhood.
I thought about planting a few pears. I can’t remember the cultivar. While researching them, I found out they were fragile and tended to snap. So I decided against them.
You know what we’re all thinking…

My ex-wife?
Nice dog videos.
I head out for New Hampshire
Make sure you smuggle stuff back with you.

Seems a bit late.
Vice, weakness, ugliness, perversity, corruption, peril.
Seems sufficiently shitty.
“Seems a bit late.”
Have you seen the weather in the Hill Country today?
The Fat Electrician: Poster child for ‘Do not leave your five year old child alone with magic markers’.
Granted, I have seen much worse. I see a lot of 30ish people with nonsense doodles randomly scribbled all over their body but….*sigh*…whatever. It is their body they can do what they want but dont expect me to not say ‘That’s dumb’.
Some guy I used to work with had:
– Half a pizza on his forearm; he explained that his friend has the other half and if they put their forearms together, it makes a whole pizza.
– On his wrist, he had [beer mug icon] + [car keys icon] = DUI.
The only thing that annoys me about tattoos is when people act like it’s incredibly badass and rebellious. It’s not 1950 anymore, bud. Suburban soccer moms have their kids’ names tattooed on their arms these days. They’re like blue jeans: They were a bold statement once, but now they’re completely mainstream and you’re just blending in with the crowd.
The days when tattooos were reserved for sailors, strippers, and outlaw bikers were better days, no doubt.
I am thinking about getting my blood type tattooed on my arm.
I just came from a picnic/family reunion of my friend of 70 years. His family adopted the Fourscores. There were a number of ladies there, double plus to morbidly obese. Ladies in the 20-30-40-50 range, one or two that were closer to size 12 but 15 or so pre-diabetic to diabetic. Many had got their tattoos by the yard.
All are working, some from home, the host/hostess are retired. I’m guessing with some much weight concentrated in one small area the Earth’s balance must have been affected. If you notice that your day is a little longer or shorter than expected today you’ll know the reason why.
However, the food was good and plentiful and they sent some home with us.
Is there a written-word version of that? I don’t want to sit here and listen to that guy flap his gums for 19+ minutes – 30 seconds was bad enough.
Huh. I though he was your type.
I think it’s Tonio who said that guy is his type, IIRC.
Yeah that guy is kind of the opposite of my type.
Aquarius: The High Priestess reversed – Passion, ardor, conceit, surface knowledge. bow, chica, chica, bow wow!

Skeet, skeet, skeet.
Neighbor just called…crawfish boil. I would stick around and give y’all the benefit of my great wisdom….I really would but – crawfish boil. I do not apologize.
I’ve been to one, at a Cajun restaurant. Great fun. Enjoy!
“Vice, weakness, ugliness, perversity, corruption, peril.”
Sounds like fun.
Not for another three hours according to the power company. WTF is this, the Stone Age?
Oof.
It came back on. Then I went outside to buy some milk and vodka, and when I got back I was stepping on the elevator in my lobby and it went out again.
Making diet white russians?
lol I did have a couple last night. That is not a drink for school nights, though.
Taurus: 7 of Cups – Illusions, fantasies, false or temporary achievements.
Ooooh. Well, I’m having another injection on Thurs. I have no anticipation that it will relieve the nastiness, especially when driving. So that’s kinda on point. I also have an appointment with the vocational rehab folk week. I am equally biased against them. though I’ll admit I have little idea of what they actually *do.* It’s certainly something worth hearing out, though I ain’t betting on it. (Who knows?)
Spitball thought is another ~two months at Walmart before restarting the Serious Job search.
Meanwhile, in Kentucky…

So not really a church shooting, but an incident that started somewhere else and wound up at a church.
Just got home from a 200mi drive that was for no other reason than to drive. Very relaxing. Saw some beautiful scenery, some nice windy roads around lakes and green forests.
Back from the second day of the match. I ROTFLstomped the iron sight division, but that’s because the all the good shooters have gone to optics.
Next week is the NH match, then I switch to an optic division to be ready (lol) for a big match in October.
Family taking beach photos photobombed by nesting turtle
The group wanted the beast to move, as they were there first, but it wouldn’t.
Apparently they were at loggerheads.
This is a loss. The lodge on the north rim of the Grand Canyon (and the associated cabins) has reportedly been lost to a wildfire.

Apparently, the water treatment plant went up and released chlorine gas which hampered the firefighters.
Goddammit I have been getting non-stop flood warnings that are in effect a half-dozen counties away.
I blame Trump’s cuts to the National Weather Service.
