No Prime this weekend (she has to work) but plenty of amusement. Our little café hosted a 65th reunion party for the local high school. This is one of the few events where everyone calls me “young man” or “sonny boy.” Our menu had stars next to some items indicating “gummable.” There was more crepe than an Irish funeral. I asked a couple people if they had ever done a Philadelphia sidecar and got some blank looks. When I’d run food out and call a name, I was reminded that most of these Q Tips are effectively deaf. I’m sure driving around afterward would have been an amazing experience (“The village looks so different at 12 mph!”). WebDom and 10b0t decided that Logan’s Run wasn’t such a bad idea.
With that over, what a morning it is today, what with so many notable birthdays. These include a guy who know how to go with the flow; a guy who was rather twisted; a guy for whom the phrase, “Christ, what an asshole” was seemingly designed; a guy who inflicted Rob Reiner on us, in every aspect; a son of a car; a guy who lowered our collective IQ by twenty points, minimum; and a guy who owes each and every one of you a sign.
And I owe each and every one of you some Links.
One more starving-babies-well-fed-parents piece. Unpaywalled version.
“Don’t say the quiet part out loud.”
“Random.” But let’s go lightly on the part where an armed non-cop stopped the attack.
So no cuts, but total panic. And it should be cut.
So the answer is, “We gotta hate Jews more.”
I’m not sure what the problem is.
The greatest rock keyboardist mixes Dylan and Bach. Ahhhh, Bach. Old Guy is rockin’ this morning.

“a guy for whom the phrase, “Christ, what an asshole” was seemingly designed”
It’s not my birthday.
“Come November, they may share one more trait: A Muslim mayor with a progressive left-wing worldview and a critical stance of Israel.”
You mean straight up communist who wants to kill the jews?
The West’s two most important cities conquered by Muslims. It’s not an accident.
two most important cities
Clever attempt to set off a NATO civil war.
Capitals of free market finance falling to socialist muslims is very Ayn Rand.
No mention that a plebe with a gun stopped the guy. Also all on video.
And Whitmer thanks law enforcement, calling them first responders when they were not, in fact, the first responders.
As is all too common, if something isn’t done by the government, it is simply invisible/not done at all.
Yup. It’s remarkable she did not thank, or at least acknowledge, the civilians who captured the guy.
When I’d run food out and call a name, I was reminded that most of these Q Tips are effectively deaf.
Try living with such a parent.
What?
Could you repeat that, a little louder?
Actually, it’s women’s voices that I don’t hear well. That’s not too bad in itself, however.
a guy who was rather twisted
Happy birthday Chubby Checker!
I figured that Young & Smylie would be too esoteric.
“Edinburgh University had ‘outsized’ role in creating racist scientific theories, inquiry finds
Exclusive: Investigation finds one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious universities benefited from transatlantic slavery and was haven for white supremacist theories”
I’m waiting for this article to get to the point.
Sackcloth and ashes certainly.
The point is we must destroy the past to unleash the New Soviet Man comrade. Now please to kneel down by nice ditch.
The point is hate whitey.
The Guardian has a stable of writers dedicated to the topic.
I got my Engvall pun in the other day, so I got nothing.
Happy Birthday, Carl Reiner!
And good morning, Old Man, Tater, Translucy (Ummm…I’ll come up with something better!) and Ted’S.!
GM 🙂
Had it been a Palestinian instead of Syrian tourist they really could’ve played up the starving angle.
Head Start teaches the new math – that not increasing is cutting?
It’s just forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for daycare for the poors.
FTA–“The Project 2025 blueprint calling for deep federal cuts proposed Head Start’s elimination”–
Still with the Project 2025, even as Trump said he did not support it.
What “deep cuts”?
I’m surprised they didn’t shoehorn in Epstein somehow.
Greetings from the nation’s capitol.
What a sweaty armpit.
It’ll be 85 degrees here and 75% humidity, so yeah, not just DC.
It has been a very unpleasant summer. Damn klimate katastrophe.
The next three days the humidity is due to drop, as the temps run up into the 90s.
““I’m in touch with law enforcement about the horrible news out of Traverse City,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said on X.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and the community reeling from this brutal act of violence. I am grateful to the first responders for their swift response to apprehend the suspect.””
Typical, just typical.
“The latest humanoid robot on the market can purportedly run across a grassy lawn, do cartwheels and even fist-fight – and it costs less than $6,000.
In a promotional video from China’s Unitree Robotics on Friday — which provoked skepticism from some on social media whether it was legit or instead a product of CGI — the new R1 robot is seen doing cartwheels and handstands, as well as throwing combination punches and spin-kicking the air.
It weighs about 55 pounds, has 26 joints to allow for flexible movement and is equipped with multimodal artificial intelligence, including voice and image recognition, according to Unitree.”

Its batteries probably blow up after a few hours.
Shouldn’t that be “lowered our IQ” by 3D6 points?
Watched the Blaire White interview of Epstein victim Juliette Bryant. She said some kooky stuff, but after what she went through it’s understandable. Worst part Blaire didn’t know when to shut up and just let her talk.
I didn’t know about this:
“JPMorgan to pay $290M to settle lawsuit from Jeffrey Epstein victims”

We had our 70th high school reunion a couple weeks ago, in one grad’s assisted living apartment. Six of us, 2 ladies, 4 guys. All were widows/widowers except me.
There are still more of us around but for whatever reasons don’t mix with us. I’m guessing about a dozen-15 from a class of about 100. Hearing aids were the accessory of the day.
Were you the Cool Kids or were they the Cool Kids?
I was pleasantly surprised that a lot of the cliquishness seemed to have disappeared by my most recent HS reunion (held a couple of years late due to COVID.) Folks who wouldn’t have given me the time of day back in the day (I had my little niche, but was by no stretch a Cool Kid) were very friendly. Even better, the assembled didn’t seem to drift into segregated sides of the event venue, as they had briefly at one early reunion.
We were not the cool kids. Lower economic strata that turned out well. Not a football player or cheer leader in the bunch. Just survivors…
My first reunion was the 25th. You’re right, we were all so happy to see one another we became better and closer friends.
We had about 50 at our 60th. Those not yet deceased are spread all over the country so it isn’t surprising they cannot travel to a reunion lunch. I’m becoming more of a cool kid by doing “remember when” monologues. Like our pitcher striking out Reggie Jackson, and a teacher caught ogling one of the popular girl’s tits.
I ended up as Class Historian, ’cause I could read and write. The job is getting easier every ear.
You also can call me Sonny Boy.
“Climb up on my knee, Sonny boy
Though you’re only three, Sonny boy
You’ve no way of knowing
There’s no way of showing what you mean to me, Sonny boy”
“An app offering an amazing array of free perks has been launched but there’s a catch – you need to be pretty to cash in.
Larissa Drekonja, a former model and actress, co-founded the app Neon Coat, with Dan Berger.
The app offers a selection of experiences, services, or comped food and drink, in exchange for the model or influencer receiving the freebie to post online about it.
The exclusive app is a saddening reminder that being pretty can pay as criteria to join the app requires models to have at least 1,000 followers on Instagram and a substantial portfolio of work, and, for influencers, they must have at least 5,000 followers on Instagram or TikTok.”

Mossad should figure out a way to make their phones explode.
In other news the Daily Mail has learned that water is wet.
“ A man approached them, began filming and shouted provocative statements including “Free Palestine,” “Damn Israel” and “I am Hamas.”
The motivation behind this attack remains, according to officials, a total mystery.
No, no. That’s a warm gentle rain you feel on your back.
And with the wonders of AI the Times and the Guardian can republish the same article dozens of times and get slightly different wording at the press of a button.
“Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown has filed a lawsuit against Fidelity Information Services (FIS) to prevent the company from sharing the personal data of residents who have either applied for or are receiving food assistance benefits with the federal government in an effort to block that information from being shared with immigration enforcement.
The lawsuit states that the US Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service Division (USDA) intends to share the information with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which could be used by the Trump administration for immigration enforcement efforts. The USDA in May requested that all states share details on who has been enrolled or has applied to SNAP going back five years.”
https://thepostmillennial.com/washington-state-ag-nick-brown-sues-to-block-ice-from-accessing-snap-information
Why are illegals getting SNAP in the first place?
Why doesn’t the USDA already know who is getting federally funded welfare?
What possible legal barrier could there be to the federal government knowing who is getting federally funded welfare?
Pepperidge Farm remembers California’s Proposition 187.
No federal funds for you, then.
Let the friendly judge shopping begin.
I am sure a Hawai’ian judge will determine that the Feds don’t have standing.
South Dakota v. Dole would like a word.
You know why.
I suspect it is administered by the states and the Feds have been looking the other way for decades as the crooked ones do everything they can to keep the grift going.
“Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ transition advisory team enlisted two Chinese intelligence-tied bankers who have fundraised for her and a nonprofit she helps lead, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered.
Bass appointed Dominic Ng, CEO of East West Bank, and Simon Pang, co-founder of Royal Business Bank, to her mayoral transition advisory team in December 2022, according to the City of Los Angeles. In total, Ng, East West Bank and Pang have donated upwards of $1 million to Bass’ mayoral campaign and the Mayor’s Fund For Los Angeles, where Bass serves as an advisor to the board of directors, according to the nonprofit.
While it is unclear what Ng and Pang did while serving on Bass’ mayoral transition advisory team, both have extensive ties to the Chinese government and have also been listed as holding positions within arms of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influence and intelligence service called the United Front Work Department (UFWD).”

CWAC
OFFS. I wonder how much she’s managed to grift out of that.
The entire classification of ‘nonprofit’ should be eliminated.
a guy who lowered our collective IQ by twenty points
That’s bait.
But worries are mounting for both Head Start staff and parents.
The Project 2025 blueprint calling for deep federal cuts proposed Head Start’s elimination, and while calls to cut its budget have diminished, advocates don’t feel the program is safe.
The Big Bad Wolf is out there!
“Little pig, little pig, let men in.”
The program is not safe. It would be very dangerous to our schools if they weren’t already dead, rotted to dust, scattered by the winds, and replaced by evil shades.
Somehow I got signed up to a Democratic Leadership Council email list. I get a few of them every day, and every single one of them mentions Project 2025. They are all in on this.
So you’re saying that if the Dems are this worried, this may be a better plan than any of us otherwise thought?
Still, the flat funding could hurt as more families seek to use Head Start in an era of rising costs.
Oh, for pity’s sake.
Tuping is hsrd.
Its defenders need to point out one goddamn thing it has achieved in six decades. Then it should be eliminated and the earth salted so it has no possibility of endumbening yet another generation.
As I recall, a study was done that concluded it provided no lasting benefit, just a slight jump in the first year or two of school, and that was completely lost after a few years.
It has ensured the employment of many spinster daughters of the PMC.

The unusual shape, the lack of a comet trail, and the fact that it sped up as he left the galaxy
If it was in our solar system in 2017, and has already left the galaxy then it is a FTL ship, no matter what direction it took. I am not sure why the author felt it necessary to gender it though.
Aren’t ships in English traditionally female?
Fair point, in that case we should stone the author for miss-gendering her.
They are coming to read us their poetry.
Oh freddled gruntbuggly…
“As The Washington Post reported, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his team have been ordered to cease polygraphs to stop leaks to the corporate media after an adviser complained to the White House.
The adviser in question, Patrick Weaver, complained to White House officials this spring that he was worried about being directed by Hegseth or another member of his team to submit to a polygraph test. Hegseth’s team started administering polygraph tests to people around the defense secretary in April.
The White House then intervened to stop the practice via a phone call by an individual close to the administration. The Post refused to name this person.”
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/07/report-team-hegseth-ordered-stop-using-polygraph-tests/
Polygraph tests are bullshit.
This.
Do better, Pete.
Common misconception. Polygraph examinations are accurate and repeatable if done properly.
There’s an ethical argument to be made against them. Self-incrimination, etc. There’s not a practical argument to be made against them.
NPR “ This was the week that comedy pushed back”
Because prior to this week they were OMB’s lapdog.
They pushed back against Obama and Biden?
No one on NPR has ever listened to Shane Gillis.
SNL did, then fired him. And then he hosted it.
*spits coffee*
If by “pushed back” they mean “crawled up its own asshole to die”.
I always thought if the helmet had the DOT sticker you were safe.

She should wear the Guy Fawkes mask as well. It would improve her.
Goddammit why did I not hover?
Love how “Israel” is in the URL but nowhere to be found in the article.
Never change, The Guardian.
‘Cruelty’ is the new ‘fascist’…
“As The Washington Post reported, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his team have been ordered to cease polygraphs to stop leaks to the corporate media after an adviser complained to the White House.
They should switch to trial by ordeal.
Polygraphs are about as scientific as phrenology. Trial by ordeal would be more accurate.
This misconception has mostly been promulgated by people who wanted to maintain their security clearances, but who really didn’t want to get poly’d…
I’m thinking Sheldon is a Polygraph manufacturer.
Sheldon I was accused of lying during a poly when I wasn’t, so I’m not impressed with them.
You mean outside tourist season there is no demand? No way.
What happened to plan to replace Jersey Shore ferry with a huge bridge? The surprising 61-year journey
It’s a fun trip, but it’s way easier to suck it up and spend the extra time to go over the Delaware Memorial Bridge whenever you choose instead of timing the ferry.
Now do light rail.
So it’s only half the financial disaster as the Colbert Show?
Best of all, check out the byline.
What or who is it?
The exterminating force of Project 2025 is plowing through the culture, the government and people’s hearts and bodies like a drunk on a violent tear. We wake each morning, holding our breath to bear witness to the new devastation: PBS and NPR defunded, cuts to the fight against human trafficking, Medicaid gone for millions, Ice working to surveil critics, tons of food for the poor ordered burned and wasted.
Sheer poetry.
Your team has been trafficking humans for decades. Remember those child slaves they found just last week?! JFC the projection is off the charts.
Slutty Sunday T&A blames the Jews.

You know, there was a famous case the SC got wrong – Scott v. Sanford. Yeah, that had some consequences you stupid twat. I really hate people that think they are “smaht” when they are this fucking stupid.
LOL
It’s amazing watching so many brains turn to mush in real time.
I suspect they were probably mush before.
No one is smart about everything. Everyone is stupid about something. But nothing says someone can’t bee stupid about everything.
How dare other lawyers have different interpretations of the law! Don’t they know that only liberalism is the way forward?
And this is the time for artists to speak out, to disembed themselves from a fascist system, to place principles over profit and self-advancement. To be what Viet Thanh Nguyen calls “disagreeable”. Yes, of course there are risks. But at this moment, with the jackboots in the streets and at our door, when each hour another liberty is being erased, and those who speak truth to power are being removed from TV, from universities, from cultural centers, when the cultural platforms are being removed themselves, speaking out is not just an obligation, it’s survival.
And there are artists beginning to organize. The poet Michael Klein is creating a new podcast calling writers “to take our language back in writing a way through the various veils of deceit–an act, which in itself, has always been a form of resistance”. Meena Jagannath, a movement lawyer, is gathering artists and activists in salons to deepen our collective investigation and imaginative co-creation. She told me: “Our charge in these times is to support each other in building protagonism – a sense that we have agency to contest fascist narratives about how the world is and should be. It needs to be a collective, creative and responsive process that takes in what’s going out there and alchemizes it into a more expansive imagination of what could and should be.”
This calls for a really futile and stupid gesture on somebody’s part. The world cries out for a drama queen circle jerk.
We are besieged by a class of people with all of the intellectual depth of French mimes.
At least mimes are quiet.
“those who speak truth to power are being removed from TV, from universities, from cultural centers, when the cultural platforms are being removed themselves”
Now do COVID.
Salons? 🙄
“A BBC presenter and transgender activist has launched a “transgender visibility” campaign that could include transgender adults asking young children to accompany them to the bathroom.
Dr. Ronx Ikharia, who’s described as a “black, non-binary, transmasculine emergency doctor,” calls the campaign “Safe With Me.” Individuals are asked to wear badges to make their trans “allyship” visible. Then, trans-identifying people can ask people wearing the badges to accompany them to the bathroom or other sex-segregated space that does not match their sex, out of hopes they won’t be asked to leave.”
https://www.dailywire.com/news/bbc-employee-launches-creepiest-trans-visibility-campaign-youve-ever-heard
OFFS!
So their plan to push back against fears that they are grooming children is to accompany random kids they encounter to the bathroom?
But the kids wear badges indicating that they want it! I don’t see the problem.
That whole thing is wrong, spelled R-O-N-X.
‘Visibility’ isn’t your problem. Being a mentally ill asshole is your problem.
You know, there was a famous case the SC got wrong – Scott v. Sanford. Yeah, that had some consequences you stupid twat. I really hate people that think they are “smaht” when they are this fucking stupid.

The parents of the dead kid, both professors at the local college, spent more time trying to assure the murderer kid had all of his rights protected (he did) than they ever spent with the dead kid, whom they raised.

Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas
No tactic will immunize a university, media corporation or law firm from a government willing to color this far outside the lines.
And individual institutions have no pathway to protect the rule of law against a government willing to ignore it. Columbia’s settlement does set a dangerous precedent. As Joseph Slaughter, a Columbia faculty member, stated, the agreement normalizes “political interference in teaching, research and the pursuit of truth.” The administration is already using the settlement as a template for negotiations with other universities, including Harvard, Cornell, Duke, Northwestern and Brown.
In our view, Columbia — which cannot survive as a research university without substantial funding from the federal government — had little choice but to cut a deal.
Harvard may yet come to the same conclusion. It has won some short-term victories and will likely win more. But even if the university wins every case it brings, it cannot compel the government to award it future grants, issue visas to foreign nationals seeking to study or work at Harvard or block every perversely creative form of intimidation the administration dreams up.
I believe your egghead comrades refer to that as a “power disparity”. One ought to be more careful in one’s entanglements.
Why aren’t you properly treating your dogs for fleas and ticks? Those poor dogs don’t deserve to get eaten alive!
Oh, wait, it’s just an old idiom.

Ungrateful assholes.
WTF?
4,800-Mile 2001 Acura Integra Type R
$204k plus fees.
That car is too boring to be worth six figures until that value gets inflated away.
How much was it new?
$25k. They have the Monroney.
Considering storage costs, not that good an investment.
WTF?
Fools and their money. I just hope whoever bought it drives it instead of locking it away.
VTEC!
Our MDX has the older V6 that still has it. It’s so mild in this application I’ll be damned if I know when the timing has actually changed.
That car is too boring
Definitely not boring.
Down the BaT rabbit hole:
’64 Datsun 1500 roadster, current bid $6k. I’d take that over the Integra in a heartbeat, regardless of price.
LHD, RHD?
And then we have this
Current bid $15k. I’m too lazy to look up what it cost new, but that’s some serious depreciation.
TW: Hoovie

I must be a mild masochist since I tend to watch Hoovie. Ive seen all his videos on that car, and I think its sole redeeming value is that its a rarity (kinda) with the full driver partition.
Then again, Im driving a 2000 Chevy (Suzuki) Tracker Testarossa, so what do I know ?
/though I think Ill take the SRT/8 Challenger up to the office today.
Datsun is LHD
Yeah, that seems a better buy than the Integra.
“As The Washington Post reported, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his team have been ordered to cease polygraphs to stop leaks to the corporate media after an adviser complained to the White House.”
In the good old days, if you had to take a poly and knew something may be weighing on your conscious, a xanax or a couple of benzos a couple hours prior could usually get you to sail right through. Now they ruin it by drug screening you prior.
