What Your Talking About is Called, “a Coup”

by | Aug 16, 2025 | Beer, Cops, Crime, Food & Drink, Liberty | 80 comments

Quoted from the quotable(?) Gen. Mark Milley. They really need to set up courses at Westpoint so these dumbass generals can at least get in a good one liner like Patton.

This is my review of Smog City Little Bo’ Pils:

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week or so, the online left has taken to their new talking point of asking the “Don’t Tread on Me” types to square the circle that is the the reckless authoritarian Orange Man taking over DC and ruining everything fundamentally good and pure and American about our nations capital. My response is:

  • Yes, its authoritarian, now…
  • Fuck off, I’m really not MAGA, I am entertained by MAGA…
  • Oh, and fuck off, I don’t owe you an explanation for anything

That’s it. Let’s talk about beer!

Okay not yet. This gets better (TW: NY Times):

Unfortunately, though we (and others) had hoped that the military would only respond to calls to action in American cities and states kicking and screaming, we no longer expect resistance from that institution. Once, perhaps, traditionalist officers might have leaned on protocol and refused to heed a lawless order, taking inspiration from the generals — Mark Milley and James Mattis — who resisted the uprooting of established military standards in the first Trump term.

But today, general officers no longer seem to see themselves as guardians of the constitutional order.

It now seems clear to us that the military will not rescue Americans from Mr. Trump’s misuse of the nation’s military capabilities. Recent changes to the terms of the military’s employment by the Pentagon and its members’ incentives to career advancement will ultimately overcome any constitutional and moral qualms about their conduct.

The danger of escalation is real. Soldiers and Marines are trained for combat, not constabulary duty and riot control. Expecting military personnel to shift seamlessly from destroying an enemy on the battlefield to law enforcement is asking for trouble. And the deployment of troops to urban areas may provoke clashes with citizens who may be motivated to pick up a gun. Once shots are fired at military personnel, no matter where the shots come from, the administration will have the pretext it requires to tighten its grip using instruments of state control. This might sound far-fetched, but it can spin out of control.

Perhaps you should buy a gun? Perhaps even many guns and thousands of rounds for said guns?

No, sadly the military will not save you from Trump. Apparently, he implemented a Stalin-like purge of his generals and left only unqualified loyalists to suppress Washington DC. The likes of which I am perfectly comfortable with Trump walling off with 30 foot earthen berms, installing moats filled with alligators on both sides of the berm, and generally turning DC residents lives into something of a cross between Havana, Pyongyang, and Gaza. Sorry, five years later and I am still salty about those assholes actions leading to my gym closing down over COVID…

So who is left to save us? This guy throwing a sandwich.

The footage shows Dunn holding a footlong Subway sandwich in one hand while gesturing with the other, continuing to shout at the officers. After stepping back briefly, he winds his arm behind him and throws the sandwich at Lairmore, striking him in the chest. The wrapped sandwich bounces off the agent’s flak vest before Dunn turns and sprints across the street.

Stunning, brave. I joke but he’s lucky to be alive.

Smog City being based out of SoCal probably wins for the most self-aware brewery name, but what about the beer? Well its a standard Czech Pilsner. That’s it, nothing really more to say about that since that piqued the interest out of enough of you. Its good enough that I will not use it as a projectile in the event I feel the need to get back at one of the king’s men. Nah, I have guns for that. I’ll drink this to celebrate my escape. Smog City Little Bo’ Pils: 3.1/5

If I carefully make myself consider things without emotion, I will admit I dislike things that smack of martial law. If I let my emotions influence me, the idea of jackbooted thugs dragging Democrat politicians and bureaucrats out of Government buildings by the hair makes me giggle like a character from an anime.

    • mexican sharpshooter

This internal conflict is unsettling, isn’t it?

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Agreed, when pressed I anyways admit it’s wrong, but if it’s wrong, why does it feel so good?

    • Homple

I dislike a city full of uncontrolled violence more than I dislike things that smack of martial law. Real life is making choices.

      • R C Dean

Yeah, heavy handed law enforcement sucks.

        Anarchotyranny sucks harder.

An unopened can of beer is a better weapon than a sandwich.

    • rhywun

I thought sandwich guy was a crazy leftist until that lady walking her dog this morning said, “Hold my batshit crazy beer.”

      • dbleagle

True dat. She might be competing for the title of the Ur-Karen..

I had a Modelo at lunch yesterday, it was ok

  4. Common Tater

I don’t think the military should be used for law enforcement either (except for massive threats like riots), but this ongoing anarcho-tyranny going on in cities needs to stop.

    • juris imprudent

Don’t befoul the beautiful theory of anarchy by comparing it to Democrat-run cities.

      • (((Jarflax

I am pretty sure DC isn’t run by anyone. Democrats do most of the looting there, but as far as running I’m not seeing any evidence that they even pretend to be running things.

“On July 28, 1932, U.S. Attorney General William D. Mitchell ordered the veterans removed from all government property. Washington police met with resistance, shot at the protestors, and two veterans were wounded and later died. President Herbert Hoover then ordered the U.S. Army to clear the marchers’ campsite. Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur commanded a contingent of infantry and cavalry, supported by six tanks. The Bonus Army marchers with their wives and children were driven out, and their shelters and belongings burned.”

Some article yesterday on the homeless encampments used “communities” to describe them. That’s really fucked up, and for ’em to exist in every big city+ is especially so, and these cities not only don’t stop it, but they encourage it.

Trump is the wrecking ball to the old system, or he’s trying his best. With all the opposition and work he has to get around it, I think he’s done about the best someone could. I don’t like the Iran bombing, nor tariffs in general, but that was a strong power play, well-designed.

Vance is especially good at it, and the Executive poking lefties is brilliant. Their constant shrieks, all they know, helps reveal to normies how batshit the Left is.
^^ Another great example: Cincinnati Council Woman says the whites beaten on 4th and Elm had it coming, deserved it. That should get interesting. The Race Problem is becoming too much for normies to handle.

I’m completely ignorant on this shit, but it seems Team Trump is following legitimate, though rare, procedures on National Guard use. I don’t go downtown, but I’m sure Indy has established urban campgrounds.

      • rhywun

The homeless community has a subreddit where they swap sewing patterns and bumwine reviews.

The danger of escalation is real. Soldiers and Marines are trained for combat, not constabulary duty and riot control. Expecting military personnel to shift seamlessly from destroying an enemy on the battlefield to law enforcement is asking for trouble.

That’s why we have to keep our warriors locked down on military bases at all times. They would run riot on the civilian population, indiscriminately raping and pillaging as they have been trained.

  7. Suthenboy

My take is that DC is federal property under the control of congress. I cant hear past all of the hysteria what exactly Trump has done. It is pointless to listen to the lefties…they lie even when the truth would serve them better.
DC – call in the army
Everywhere else – call the National Guard….which the president can do. Thank you Ronnie.

I think the root of the problem is that there is no militia as the founders envisioned. the militia is the body of the people, every person capable of bearing arms…so said Madison and all of the others. Sadly the totalitarians have made such a prolonged attempt to disarm us both literally and mentally that few people can imagine what that means.

This certainly has a lot of people showing their true colors. I love that the left is going with the ‘crime is down to 1000 year lows! Dont believe your lying eyes!’ tactic. Even the reporters saying it had to furtively dart into work to keep from getting mugged and at least one claiming she wont walk around the streets by her office even in daylight. If that isn’t a bunch of brazen liars no one is. It is good to see their complete mendacity on display.

Trump is right to do what he is doing.

    • Suthenboy

      Oh…another big problem: Crime stats.

When federal dollars are dispensed according to number the numbers get jimmied to get the most dollars. This is moronic and a huge problem.

      • (((Jarflax

Liars lie. If there is any reason, even just embarrassment for local officials, to obscure the crime rates they will be obscured.

      • Suthenboy

It’s not just any reason, it is a financial reason, the one reason that makes lying a certainty.
“I can lie without any consequence other than receiving baskets full of other people’s money”.

Reason #566211478954558^10 why we need to shoot the income tax in the head, set it on fire, piss on it then throw the ashes in the sea.

      • (((Jarflax

I don’t think the crime stat lies are primarily or even significantly about money. I think they are about protecting several of the shibboleths of the left, notably with regard to race, single parent households, public assistance programs, and public education.

      • Suthenboy

I say that for the drivers of the left’s agenda you are correct. The financial incentive is for the right govt slugs to get on board with their agenda. Sheriff’s around the country dont care about the left’s agenda….the Broward county sheriff or the sheriff in seminole county had no interest in that when they let Trayvon Martin and Nicolas Cruz off the hook over and over to cook the numbers…he just wanted the money.

I get the notion that they barely bother with what happens on the street now. They just get a pencil and write whatever imaginary numbers get them paid.

      • rhywun

I think they are about protecting several of the shibboleths of the left, notably with regard to race, single parent households, public assistance programs, and public education.

I agree. If anything, being honest about crime should feed them more dollars to help them “take care of it”.

It says to me that those third rails are just as powerful in American politics as money.

    • rhywun

Trump’s stormtroopers are doing the jobs that Democrat-hired cops won’t do.

But yeah, they are lying about the crime stats. The only people arguing for more crime are the DNC/media complex. Even their voters are starting to reconsider.

      • rhywun

I might add this started during the plague years. That plus BLM gave them the excuse to conveniently throw up their hands in defeat when it came to counting crimes.

      • Suthenboy

Totalitarians love high crime. It is one of the standard tools in their kit. Trump shutting down crime is shutting down the left as much as cutting off their money laundering scheme (USAID).

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

“Trump’s stormtroopers are doing the jobs that Democrat-hired cops won’t do.”

        That’s my favorite take.

Killing the spirit of the law

The new guidance from the Trump administration strips out a number of requirements added under Biden. States will no longer be required to engage with rural or underserved communities while planning charger locations. They do not need to direct benefits toward disadvantaged communities. They don’t need to demonstrate that they’ve factored in labor or safety standards, or provided opportunities for minority-owned businesses. They won’t need to address evacuations, snow removal or extreme weather in their plans.

The goal was never to actually build charging stations.

I am too lazy to look it up and I have to go take the potatoes out of the oven. I dont know which military Trump is using or under what statutes he is allowed to do so. There seems to be a lot of screeching and using words like ‘stormtroopers’, illegal, ‘thugs’ etc without any clarification or citing of law.
They say the same thing about ICE where ICE is following the letter of the law and acting within their discretion and jurisdiction.

In case you are wondering cube 3 large potatoes 1/2×1/2, sprinkle with one pack of Lipton’s onion soup mix, pour 1-1/2 cups of Italian dressing over them, sprinkle with powdered garlic, sprinkle with Tony’s then bake in a foil lined pan at 375 for about an hour. I highly recommend melting cheese over them before eating.

    There’s the timer…..

The law seems to be: as soon as the threat to your life or property ends, you must stop. Perhaps in a solid red state this would have played out differently.

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a fedgov bureaucrat hitting a cop with a sandwich forever.

For the martial law whiner, tell me you were never in the military without saying you were never in the military. In basic training, we had several scenarios on how to guard a checkpoint, search detainees, etc. Crowd control? Shout, shove, show, shoot. It’s all in the manual.

    • rhywun

He chased after them and shot both. I think the punishment is pretty harsh but that doesn’t play much differently anywhere I suspect.

    • Suthenboy

Yeah, I think ‘life in immediate danger’ is the standard everywhere. Chasing a fleeing person and shooting them is a no-no. Self-defense is about ending a threat, not initiating a second one yourself.
