The Astros managed to win a game, but they’re still losing oil. The US Open is going on and I don’t know if there’s been any upsets or not. Nothing in the sports headlines, so I assume it’s going as planned. I did see this last night when looking at sports from across the pond. And I laughed my ass off. I guess that’s it for sports.
As if they give a shit. It’s taxpayer money and they’re willing to shell it out to keep their total control. Issue criminal contempt orders on county officials and see what happens after they’ve spent a bit of time in jail. That might work.

We already have plenty of asylums. They’re called ‘prisons.’ They work about as well for fixing the severely broken as the asylum system ever did.
You misunderstand. The purpose of the asylum was not primarily to fix the inmate, but to keep them out of society so they could not do damage. If they happened to recover to a functioning state, that was just gravy, but the idea of fixing broken brains was not the primary utility of the institutions.
Prisons make bad asylums, since most criminals are not insane.

Saw an interesting graph the other day, showing a descending line for mental health admissions and an ascending line for prison, err, admissions. They crossed a while back, and the combined total per thousand is now about where it was in the early 60s, I think. It’s just the mix that has changed.

I think you’re both right. From what I have seen, the protocol is to attribute all other mental issues to the person’s gender issues. They are promised that everything will be fine as soon as they affirm their gender identity.

I have a soft spot for them because I was once walking in their moccasins. Growing up on the edge of the prairie, I got most of my ideas about city living from watching MTV.
