Go see the blue man group video “Exhibit 13”. The company firewall is blocking this for some fucked up reason.
This was released on one of the anniversaries of 9/11.
It is very powerful.

In times of sadness, I want nothing more than a dose of normalcy.
I so rarely get it.
Normal requires more seasoning.
I see on X that people are claiming scalps of leftists that posted shitty things about Charlie’s death.
Good, I’m happy to see them lose their jobs.
Yep. A site was started to repost/report them for future investigation. Good.
Link?
Thanks, Tonio — that is one of my intended activities this evening.
I shouldn’t comment so much on the mid-day thread… I have nothing left to say. Sorry if I disappointed you today, RJ. I’m sure I’ll meet the metric soon.
Oh, I wasn’t commenting on you. I was commenting on the news article. You are not retarded.
Now should you wish for a contest of retarded quotes this evening, I am up for it.

Well since these assholes agree with you, I’m going to disagree.
I posted in the AM Lynx, on top of all this I’m having issues on the domestic front. Today wasn’t horribly bad. I made some progress at work, and I have a pot roast on the stove. Oldest Kid did a few things, instead of zero things. The Mrs. got to see Youngest Kid for a few days, and made plans with her for another day next week before she comes home. This week I will take the small victories.
I find that is a good plan for life (shush, Conan!) in general. Glad your day was tolerable — enjoy your pot roast, TOK.
:insert Homer gif… Mmmmm…. pot roooast…:
Sending good vibes. Prospects camps this week and NHL camps coming up. At least we’ll have hockey soon.
I do have my first tournament in 2 weeks, in Utah which is new. We complain that the USA Hockey tournaments are too expensive and you only get 3 games. This one is hosted by the Utah team, and we have 7 games in 3 days. Thankfully it’s Tier 4 this time.
Ooh. Maybe s chance to catch a Mammoth game. They usually play some regulars for home pre-season.
This is our first time, but it sounds like our hosts are being gracious. They are providing breakfasts and lunches, and the hotels are cheap. Maybe they’ll include a game. Although, there may not be time with 7 games.
I’ve suddenly been hit with good news. Snow tires arriving Monday with immediate installation. Got the snow blower of choice, Husqvarna with a 379cc engine, delivered in a few days. Both kids coming for HH. Dental appointments all done ’til next year. Cabin sold and closed on a couple weeks ago.
Gas gauge on my truck started working properly. Glibs coming in about a week. Does life get any better?
If my team manages to make the finals of a tournament the celebration is usually a pukefest for me, I can’t even imagine what 7 games in 3 days would do to me. How did I ever manage to play this game when bodychecking was permitted?
Take the small victories and build on them.
Amen.
Celebrating your small victories, TOK. And the pot roast of which I’m more than a little jealous.
And the pot roast of which I’m more than a little jealous.
So say we all.
(although it isn’t quite pot roast weather here, yet)
Thanks. I knew with Mrs. TOK gone for a week it was going to be tough. I’ll just keep myself mentally and physically healthy, do what I need to do, and make it through until Wednesday.
Why are you all jealous of pot roast? It’s so easy. We found cheap roasts on sale and bought 5, so I decided to thaw one, set it and forget it.
It’s usually just “man, pot roast sounds good – I should have thought of that several hours ago”.
Yup.. and I can’t justify going to get the fixings when I have leftovers to clear from the fridge.
Pot roast is a great work-from-home meal. At lunch sear the meat with garlic and onions, then add broth (and in this case dried tomatoes), and simmer until the end of the day. An hour before work is done throw in some potatoes and carrots.
I do most of the cooking in my my house in case you couldn’t tell.
TOK, pot roast is serious business.
I happen to really like a dish of roasted root vegetables on the side.
I am making French Onion Soup.
When you thaw one of the other four, give Yakamein a try.
Once you get your head around the ingredients, you’ll find out that it’s delicious.
Good thoughts, and jealous of thinking of a pot roast.
Maybe on a day like today we are all pining for comfort food.

That could just as easily be “not the Bee”.
I see the writers at The Bee are having mixed emotions like the rest of us.
Chaos. Madness. Civilization in decline.
There is a song playing right now. I don’t know the name or who sings it, and I’m not going to look.
I always hear the refrain as, “I don’t wanna argue. I just wanna fuck.”
I don’t know what song that is — but if Jim Steinman wrote it, I would not be surprised.
Fire it up?

I think there are some men in prison who tried that defense…
Off to the store. I’m out of beer. Maybe I’ll grab some of that tasty tart cherry juice, too.
Whats her name?
Restocked the booze cabinet yesterday. When I get home from work, I’m gonna try a Daiquiri with Havana Club.
I also now have *TWO* giant bottles of Angostura bitters. Serves me right for going to the ABC store without a shopping list…
I’ve got a solution for you. They’re quite good.
That sounds excellent.
slumbrew:
I’m not going to lie, I was a bit concerned the first time I mixed one up.
Again, I’ll point out that bitters over ice cream is delicious.
The bitters to rye ratio had me thinking “reverse Manhattan”.
I like all the flavors mentioned, I’ll have to try one.
Also, an excuse to make Oregat syrup. Which I should be keeping around anyway.
Is it a 7% solution?

He’s not wrong about being the least worst of that lot.
Good grief that town is doomed.
I agree. He’s looking for job from one of those 20 businesses.
I saw a video a few days ago. I am sure there are many like it. England – dude is outside a migrant ‘hotel’ videoing who is coming and going…all military aged ME men. A blonde brit woman with a funky half shaved haircut confronts him and is outraged that he would do such a thing…intimidating the vulnerable migrants blah blah = you know the drill.
What I noticed was the ME men were walking confidently and ignoring what was going on around them. They were walking with purpose in single file going into the hotel…a dozen or so of them. The Brits outside were fighting with each other The Brits are weak. The Islamics have them conquered already.
That is the aim of the leftists here, just as there. To divide the populace with brainwashing and endless picking at scabs. These are evil people.
Falling line and conformity are the real weaknesses. The invaders in England are vicious, I’ll give them that, and maybe that’s enough.
Naturally it’s all about them.

This is a Soros operation. Play by play it is how he destabilized a number of other countries then drained them dry.
Why are we allowing this to happen?
This is what I’ve been saying for *years*. The fact that the RINO fucks in congress and the DOJ haven’t already started a RICO case against his terrorist-funding organization is either stupidity, evil or both.
I am the furthest thing from a foodie, but I’ve just gotten on a kick of making myself overnight oats for breakfast, and I’m looking for the best way to sweeten it just a bit without adding too many more carbs. Cinnamon alone didn’t really do it, so I’ve been adding a little maple syrup, and that’s really hitting the spot. Any other ideas/suggestions? I have some molasses left over from baking cookies some time back, but haven’t had the nerve to try just adding some to the mix.
Try honey.
I tried to make overnight oats and they were terrible. How do you do it?
1 cup of regular rolled oats (NOT quick/instant, as they reportedly get too mushy) and 3/4 cup of milk, plus a modest dribble of syrup. Stir, cover, and stick in the fridge overnight. (H/T to Martha, fo shizzle.)
Should add that it definitely needs something to sweeten it, but I find the texture to be a nice balance between creamy and chewy.
GT:
I prefer steel cut oats for my overnight oats (and any oatmeal really).
Mr. Ilium, I read that steel cut oats take longer to get to where they’re not TOO chewy. How many hours do you allow for them? Is the six hours called for in the linked recipe long enough?
GT:
I grabbed a recipe from a reputable source, I haven’t used that one. But I’m pretty ecumenical when it comes to steel cut oats.
Cut an apple, banana or other fruit into it. Also, dried cranberries are the bomb.
Well, in happier news this week, tomorrow night I’ll be going to this and partying like it’s 1993: https://www.coldwaves.net/in_2025/

Fox News reporting: Utah authorities push back presser due to ‘rapid developments’ in investigation
PAGING DERPOTOLOGIST or really anyone – how hard is Portuguese to learn? There’s a posting for a role I’d be otherwise qualified for. I’m not seriously suggesting I can learn it in a matter of weeks or months, but…how hard IS it?
I would guess about as difficult as Spanish, as they’re similar languages.
Of course, I’m terrible at foreign languages.
I never took Spanish. Latin and German in HS, German in undergrad, German on my own the last 5 years. Hebrew lessons in grade school. Latin and Hebrew are fully lapsed. German I did pass the ALTA test (twice) this year, partly with the helpful advice of the Glibs.
It’s actually quite a bit more difficult than Spanish. The pronunciations are just plain different. Lots of weird letter constructions that are mush-mouthed.
You will not learn it even 1/2 quickly unless you’re immersed.
Sincerely,
A 1/2 competent Portuguese speaker.
I tried learning it on DuoLingo, having a modest knowledge of Spanish. They are very similar, probably about the same difficulty level.
https://effectivelanguagelearning.com/language-guide/language-difficulty/
I’m not saying it’s easy to learn a foreign language. But for an English speaker, it should be as hard/easy as French, Italian or Spanish. Easier than German or Slavic languages, let alone non-European languages.
Part of the attraction for me with Japanese was if the list I noted above was accurate.
I can confirm it is for me. With two years of French and Latin I can read more of a news article in any Romance language than I can in Japanese with a decade and half of study.
Whoever came up with the grammar for Slavic languages was seriously demented, but at least the spelling is fairly easy and they don’t have a bunch of exceptions like English.
Others have given good advice. My only contribution is get friendly with a Brazilian. There are fewer speakers in the US than Spanish so a good teacher might be hard to find outside of certain areas.
Learn JuJitsu from a Gracie and you might get a twofer?

“Now say “Hello, I tap out” in Portuguese”
Does it call for Brazilian Portuguese or European Portuguese? Be aware they’re different enough that European Portuguese can get pissy if you start hitting them with Brazilian Portuguese.
I’m not particularly good with languages but I switched from Duolingo French to Portuguese for a few months and made good progress (it’s Brazilian Portuguese, btw)
Good question. Just based on numbers, I’d guess Brazilian.
French level of pissiness? German level of pissiness with Bavarian?
That reminds me of how all other Spanish speakers feel about Chileans.
JI I thought Mexican Spanish was rock bottom.
Foreign languages are impossible to learn.
Thank you, Professor Quine.
I was just relaying my experience.
And worthless, we are in America
Speak !American
I lived in Brazil for a couple of years and had a pretty good Spanish base. As the sounds of the letters in the respective alphabets have a lot of differences, it didn’t help as much as I thought. If I spoke Spanish to people there they could kinda understand but I would get mostly nothing of what they said. I would say it’s a bit more difficult than Spanish to learn due to those sounds and combining them, but it’s of course a Latin based language, so having another one will help. I’d say after three months of constant Portuguese I was understanding and speaking an easy conversational level. After six I was starting to get more comfortable in a group conversation that shifted topics rapidly. At 9-10 months I felt super comfortable with it. Getting a Brazilian girlfriend is the recommended best way to learn if you can swing that.
Sleeping with the dictionary/textbook is always a solid plan.
However, in conversation Japanese has distinctly female usage and grammar. There are many stories about guys speaking Japanese learned from girlfriends…
Do a search for “Anastasia J. Casey the shooting of Charlie Kirk”
See if the links work
Anyone heard of “dog coms “?
No. But it spells “Smocgod” backwards.
Just a bunch of Instagram links on Google, nothing on DDG.
I got a link. Very weird.
https://www.timesnownews.com/world/us/us-news/who-is-anastasia-j-casey-the-mysterious-author-behind-the-shooting-of-charlie-kirk-book-sparking-intrigue-article-152784841
I also have a link to an article about it in the Hindustan times.
It lead me to an amazon link which didn’t work. I put it into archive and was led to this page.
Maybe an AI created hoax
It looks like the archive links were from the 11th.
I wonder if it is a hoax?
Must be a hoax
I am guessing hoax…perpetrated by whom? When Amazon sells somethihng isnt there a trail back to the person selling?
A couple of Amazon links come up and then tell me nothing is there. Then there are articles about a book listed for sale published the day before the shooting by that author titled “The Shooting of Charlie Kirk”
Maybe the whole thing is a hoax.
Has anyone else seen the video with Charlie’s ring “changing fingers”?
Was the video altered? How can that happen on a live broadcast? How can such a hoax be effectively accomplished in front of a crowd that large?
Or, are people manipulating the original videos after the fact to make them seem fake?
The first video I saw didn’t have any obvious blood spray. I thought Charlie was shot in the chest; that’s what it looked like.
So I’ve been thinking on this, and what I really hope happens Saturday is that a whole bunch of young guys get a table, a sign, a camera, and go sit on college campuses talking to students.
I did it. I went onto FB to unfriend anyone celebrating a person’s death. But I didn’t find any. Even my most left friends are either silent or posted some anti-hate, anti-violence thing. That’s encouraging.
It’s a relatively small number of assholes/crazies. More than makes me comfortable but most people aren’t for that kind of thing at all, if not because they’re decent then because they have a sense of self-preservation.
Yep, very happy I didn’t find anything. A formerly good friend of my wife turned into a 100% crazy leftist, constant “Trump is literally Hitler” posts, didn’t say anything stupid about Kirk.
Unfortunately I can’t say the same. I’m deeply disturbed by some of the things I saw written and I’m not sure how to react to them. I consider these people friends but they’ve been consumed by something very dark where the humanity is gone. They can’t see the personhood in those they hate, or perhaps they just don’t regard those people as human anymore.
My thoughts are very dark and I’m pessimistic. It’s not going to get better soon, I fear, and it may get much, much worse.
Now there is a shooting at Boston U.
https://thepostmillennial.com/breaking-police-respond-to-report-of-shots-fired-at-umass-boston
UMass-Boston is not BU.
UMass-Boston is in Dorchester which used to be not that great of a neighborhood.
^^ This ^^.
The area around BU is very safe. UMass Boston, less so.
My notes might be out of date but used to be?
/only been to Boston once and only touristy areas
Don’t let Marky Mark hear you talking badly about Dorchester, he might throw a rock at you.
Im tired of all the shooting, time to shoot back,
/CC, Fuck the laws
Just watched Cleetus’ in-car live feed. Still running at the end.
The pot roast turned out great. There were three changes I made that worked out. First, I was out of beef bullion so I used chicken bullion. Second, out of carrots so i just used gold potatoes. And third, I had some garden tomatoes I had dried but didn’t freeze, so I threw a bunch of those in. 5/5 would recommend.
Needs more parsnips.
Sounds delicious
For those of you who still have dry eyes.
