That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.

Field goals are getting ridiculous.
What’s getting ridiculous is that teams are barely allowed to play pass defense anymore without having a penalty flag thrown. The NFL really wants flag football.
Also roughing the passer calls.
I didn’t even bother to watch the game yesterday. I’m just not interested.
Also, I feel a losing season in my bones.
If it weren’t for gambling and fantasy football, would people really enjoy the product the NFL currently puts on the field?
I know people like points, but even the mouth breathers who think a good game is always a shoot out don’t like constant laundry on the field and shit being decided more by the refs than the players.
New Ocean’s plot?
Does it matter he’s not cooperating? Is there any doubt he did it?
Depends on whether there were accomplices.
Did people expect him to just sing like a canary? Sounds like he is doing what he needs to do…take the 5th
I could keep death penalty charges at bay if he did talk.
Kinda hard when all of governnent basically said they will get their blood though
Death penalty should be option number one for all murder cases.
Yeah. Weird headline.
The reporting on this entire story has been shit from the start. Various reports stated he had already confessed. Maybe he clammed up after.
So many reports early on trumpeting that he was a right wing shooter for obvious reasons.
Many missteps by both the press and the FBI. Director Patel stepped on a rake with the later-retracted announcement of suspect in custody.
Heard that he had confessed to his Dad (who had turned him in), but hadn’t said anything to the cops.
They have announced that they now have DNA evidence. Prior to this there was no advantage to him in cooperating. At this point the prosecutor often offers life without parole if the suspect pleads guilty and cooperates. I don’t know if that will be politically possible in this case, especially given President Trump’s statement. That he could be tried both by the State of Utah, and the USDOJ complicates things; but I don’t know what federal charges they could bring since simple murder is not a federal crime.
I’m also sure that particularly the feds want to know if he had accomplices, was a member of an antifa cell, etc. They may not need his cooperation to convict him, but they damn sure need his cooperation to find out the other information.
There has to be some type of Federal terrorism charge they can use. There’s no way they can’t get a clear motive established.
IANAL, but he could be tried for murder in Utah, and face additional federal charges. The feds can always come up with something.
If he’s the true zealot he appears to be, I doubt he will give up co-conspirators if there actually are any.
Accomplices like the feds?
Same playbook as Luigi. Bondi is going for the death penalty there as well.
I would be very surprised if the shooter had any accomplices in the legal sense.
Antifa works kind of like AQ in this regard – radicalize their low-level supporters until they twist off and do something violent, then claim credit.
That’s the playbook that was used on Dylann Roof and Robert Bowers (the former, you may recall, killed nine black worshipers in Charleson, while Bowers killed ten at a Pittsburgh synagogue).
In Roof’s case, South Carolina sentenced him to nine consecutive life without parole terms, while the feds sentenced him to death. With Bowers, the feds also sentenced the defendant to death, and Pennsylvania has yet to try him, since he’s never leaving prison except on a gurney.
There’s a cynical part of me that noted when the Biden administration commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 inmates on federal Death Row, two of the three whose sentences weren’t commuted — Roof and Bowers — had each been convicted of mass murder of important Democrat party constituencies.
I assume any deal to cooperate would take the death penalty off the table.
If he acted on his own, would he have much to offer?
*Shrugs*
A plea deal would make their investigation easier and get all the questions answered. But maybe they have all they need to get a death penalty conviction.
Far-Left New Republic Urges Democrats: Shun Empathy After Kirk Assassination — Be ‘Callous, Short of Cruel’
So keep acting like they have been except stop being cruel?
“We are trained in dignity and empathy. It’s where our politics come from. It’s why we care about gay people and trans people and immigrants and the working class. We believe empathy matters, and we act like it matters.”
No, you don’t.
There’s a small part of me that thinks the Left wants the Right to lose their shit and start effing things up, so then they’ll be able to fulfil their dream of stomping out their opposition. They don’t realize or care to realize that if they keep on poking and people get scared/desperate, it will usher in something similar to the Troubles in Northern Ireland as the best case scenario and in the worst case scenario, the Balkan Wars.
This shouldn’t be shocking though because most of these people are at their hearts, authoritarians who like their predecessors in Russia and China, would slaughter millions to usher in their utopia and eliminate dissent.
The left keeps justifying violence.
I don’t think it would happen, for the same reason that the right hasn’t “popped off” any time during the Obama or Biden years. The right is, fundamentally, made up of different types of people than the left, and that would not be in character for them. They will go top down in firing people who make stupid comments, they will join legal paramilitaries such as various police and Nation Guard groups, and the furthest out right might join a militia, but they generally do not go terrorist.
On the other hand, you might see actions like that in Eastern Oregon, which was just pushing to keep doing things that were legal, or at least not illegal, but changed status by administrative fiat. In other words, they won’t do things that harm members of the general population, but will do things that push the administrative state to over react.
SOP – probably straight out of “Rules for Radicals”.
“There’s a small part of me that thinks the Left wants the Right to lose their shit and start effing things up”
The celebration videos I have seen aren’t some calculated provocation. They are simply displays of poor impulse control and personality disorder.
The celebration stuff is vile, but politically it is more beneficial to the ‘right’ than almost anything I could imagine. Every crazy leftist cheering this drives uncommitted people and even moderate left people away from the left.
I fell back asleep this morning, that was unusual. I was awakened by my telephone. A close relative wanted something to which I had to decline. A stray cat she has been feeding is injured. Can I drive an hour and take the cat to the vet? No, I cannot.
What is she going to do? There are so many cats and she feels so sorry for them.
“Look, if Elon Musk were to take up the cause of the stray cats in your town he would go broke trying to take care of them all. I am sorry.”
Her response to that was to fly into the most rage filled, spittle flecked tirade about the evil monster Elon Musk.
“Do you know what Neuralink is? No? It is a company that is working on linking the human nervous system to robots. They are a hair away from being able to repair severed spines. There is a 16 yo girl who has no arms that now has robotic arms that can feel sensation, are nearly as articulate as a human arm and she can control her robotic arms with her mind just as if they were her own natural arms. She can feel hot and cold with them. She can feel textures. It is really freaky. What do you think of that?”
She thinks it is unbeleivably wonderful and beyond what she would ever see in her lifetime. “But why are you bringing that up?” she asked.
“Because that is Elon Musk’s company and that was/is his dream. He did that. You need to take a hard look at who you think the good guys and bad guys are”
I didnt bring up Kirk. I dont have the patience for that this morning.
Every Republican is Todd Akin, but how dare you equate Democratic candidates to the people cheering the murder of Charlie Kirk!
But it’s so much easier to just hitler anyone in Trump’s orbit.
Ted S – I though the democrat politicians were cheering the murder of Kirk?
I think the British authorities would welcome the chance to crush a right wing uprising. (They assume the crown and military would go along). It could go IRA on steroids wrong there.
Here it would be off the charts.
Empathy is stupid.
Misplaced and understood empathy leads to poor decision making and bad laws.
And misunderstood.
More assholes:

“UK Punk rap duo Bob Vylan has sparked massive outrage after calling Charlie Kirk a “piece of sh-t” and appearing to celebrate his assassination in front of a packed crowd….

It’s fitting that they don’t actually know what pronouns are.
Someone won’t be able to get a visa to perform in the US.
No! 😢
IIRC, that “rap duo” is already on a bunch of 86 lists for cheering about October 7.
“appears to” just broke a world record in the heavy lift event.
Trey Gowdy was out there this weekend saying that we need a conversation on guns and how it’s always a young white male.
No, it isn’t always a young white male. Most mass shootings using the media’s definitions, like all violent crimes, are at the hands of young black men. That’s statistically verifiable. But those shootings don’t make headlines because they are expected.
We had that conversation in the 1780s.
And every year since.
Someone inform Trey what is the very first thing a totalitarian does when taking power.
Gowdy’s a fakir and an idiot.
This
Yep.
“…because they are expected.”
People dont talk about it because the problem has nothing to do with race. It is about culture and you are forbidden to talk about that.
Yesterday wife starting calling people suddenly finding their balls and calling things out for what they are ‘Charlie Kirk Syndrom’.
Many in the african american (for lack of a better term) have resisted assimilation since….well, I am not sure how long. This is not a unique phenomena, I have seen it in other places. They resist assimilation because they have a grievance and blame a culture today for what a previous culture did. Not following the rules is part of not assimilating. A lawless subculture has grown out of that and it is a big problem.
It is far more complex than what I can write here….the race grifters are no small part of it…that the grievance was once legit for people who are no longer with us is no small part of it…the politics of dependency is no small part of it…that some people glorify it is no small part of it…the real no-shit racists on both sides are no small part of it and so on.
Yeah, thug culture is a problem. Guns dont have anything to do with it.
I am disappointed to hear that from Gowdy. I will give him a little benefit of doubt because he is a former prosecutor. Being around criminals all day eveery day does warp one’s view of humanity. Take a breath Trey, splash some water on your face and start over.
Inanimate objects have no agency. People have agency and are the problem. Violating inalienable rights wholesale isnt going to fix things, it will makethem worse.
Gowdy is an idiot who should know better given his cv.
As far as news goes, I live in a posh suburb 20 miles from downtown. If a crazy homeless guy attacks somebody on the street here, it is news. Why? Because we don’t have crazy homeless people here. Downtown, it’s a daily event for people to have encounters with crazy homeless people, so it isn’t news except on really slow news day.
Same goes for gangbangers in the inner city. There isn’t a day that goes by where there isn’t gang violence downtown. Thus, not news. A gang hit in posh suburbia? Yeah, that’s an outlier and thus news.
The American dream is to live a safe distance from blue city minority neighborhoods.
Notice who is fired and banned from Fox News? Tucker Carlson and Charlie Kirk, not Gowdy.
No relevance at all?
A once-celebrated Bay Area chef known for his refined Italian cuisine and high-profile restaurants has been arrested after allegedly robbing three separate banks in a single day.
It marks a stunning fall from grace for a man once hailed as a rising star of California’s culinary scene.
Valentino Luchin, 62, a former executive chef at the famed North Beach restaurant Rose Pistola and owner of the now-defunct Ottavio in Walnut Creek, was taken into custody by San Francisco police after a chaotic one-day robbery spree.
Three times in one day at age 62. She must have been really hot.

Kuenzle was in front of a nurses’ station with eight other nurses, and a patient in a stretcher, when the news of Kirk’s death broke.
“Oh, my God! That’s terrible! I love him!” Kuenzle said, before Jung shot back.

“”Google has scrapped Gmail’s controversial use of a “blacklist” that had been flagging Republican fundraising emails as “dangerous” — and sending them directly to spam, The Post has learned.
As The Post exclusively reported last month, the GOP consulting firm Targeted Victory warned clients that Gmail was improperly flagging emails with links to the GOP fundraising platform WinRed – blocking them from inboxes and tagging them with a scary, red warning label that said “seems dangerous”.
At the same time, fundraising pitches from ActBlue, a platform for Democrats, were delivered untouched, according to Targeted Victory.”

WTF??
Because email has become such an integral part of how we communicate, the question should be if this should be covered under mail fraud laws.
As written, I don’t know if those laws include electronic communications.
Wire fraud?
There’s that door only swinging in one direction. Again.
“Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin Tyler Robinson wrote a note saying he was going to ‘take out’ the conservative commentator before he shot him dead, according to FBI director Kash Patel.
‘I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,’ the note read, according to Patel.
‘The note was written before the shooting, it was in the suspect’s home,’ Patel said Monday Morning on Fox News.

More than a third of the 1,273 arrests examined by The Post from the first four weeks of Trump’s crackdown in D.C. involved federal law enforcement, a figure that doesn’t include arrests made by immigration officers.
Those arrests occurred in all eight city wards, but were concentrated in the city’s poorest, least White and most crime-riddled neighborhoods.
On a recent Friday night, D.C. police officers patrolled Southeast Washington in an unmarked Chevy Malibu with two Homeland Security Investigations agents in the back seat and FBI agents in a car nearby.
Spotting a 27-year-old Black man holding a joint, officers stopped to arrest him for smoking marijuana in public. They soon found a loaded handgun in his waistband, their report said.
Similar scenes have played out across the District after Trump last month declared a crime emergency, describing D.C. as gripped by “a situation of complete and total lawlessness.”

It is the same excuse Deblasio used in his effort to empty the jails. The promised utopia never arrived for some reason.
Something that triggers my “reification of names” response is how the definition of “cancel culture” has changed. It’s being used to describe a behavior that is rather different now (grave dancing has been in bad taste for a long time) than in its original usage.
Originally, “cancel culture” was about taking an accepted behavior, reinterpreting under a new morality, and then punishing people for violating it. Yes, “disinvitation season” extisted back to the point where the paper newsweeklies mentioned it. But I’d place the origin of modern cancel culture to both post-internet AND post… tumblr/proggy/woke/intersectionality. Think to that rodeo clown who wore a mask of whomever was president at the time. A normal, acceptable, even American thumbing one’s nose at authority. When Obama became president, suddenly this is a “racist” act and the guy gets fired. Or that reace car driver, who had a father that dared utter the hexagrammaton before the driver had been born — but because of Privilege Theory, he became liable for his prenatal since hand got his sponsors yanked.
“prenatal sins.”
For a minute there I thought that might be slang, like “prenatal pimp hand”.
canceling someone for a joke tweet when they were 14, 15 years ago is the same with wanting a teacher who glorifies political assassinations fired.
I don’t think it matters, really. The left opened a door via cancel culture, and now they are getting a taste of it. Did they think they would hold the reins forever? Of course, but what goes up must come down, which is as true in politics as anything else. And now they are getting a taste of it, good and hard, as Menken would say.
I’m not a big fan of cancel culture, but it’s wild that the Left is shocked that the weapon they used to shut down their opponents wouldn’t be used against them.

Yeah, no shit. It’s so obviously ridiculous only a serious Trump hater could actually fall for it.

Trapped in Time – The Last Masters of the Giant Net * Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG5pvcJ73wU
In the heart of the mysterious Danube Delta, 16 Lipovan fishermen from Jurilovca carry on an ancient tradition—the casting of the giant seine net. In a world that is changing too fast, they remain anchored in the ancestral rhythm of the waters, handling tools that have remained unchanged for generations, as if time itself had stood still.
But in this breathtaking landscape, the threats are more real than ever. Ruthless poaching, suffocating pollution, and increasingly strict regulations are eroding their hopes, pushing them to the edge of survival. With calloused hands and weary eyes, they refuse to give up. You will discover them as they truly are—working tirelessly, fighting for every catch, sharing their stories between two net throws, beneath the sky that has always been their witness.
This documentary takes you beyond the surface, into the heart of a disappearing world. From the spectacular launch of the net to the tense moment of the catch, you will witness a grand struggle—between men, water, and time.
What I got from that is “We’re too stubborn to adapt.”
Delta fishermen are kind of screwed by corrupt politics… But still it is a dying lifestyle.
“Ruthless poaching”

From that New Republic article:
When it comes to Kirk’s death, empathy helps prop up Republicans and Trumpists as legitimate and normal political actors. Cooing praise of “persuasion” sends the message that there is some common ground, some kind of fellowship to be had between the right and the left at a moment when there is anything but. And that fantasy, I believe, is ultimately harmful, not just for that person but for society as a whole.
There can be only one. Let hate and fear guide us.
Its just a template for future articles to avoid using facist and nazi and instead, say those things in long winded sentences.
The left has been oozing fake “empathy” for so long they don’t recognize the real thing. They just assume the rest of the world is as cynical and hateful as they are.
Empathy can not exist unless you have experienced the same situation as the other person who is hurting.
The correct word is sympathy.

President Donald Trump floated the idea Monday of companies no longer providing earnings report on a quarterly basis and switching to semiannual instead.
——-
“Did you ever hear the statement that, ‘China has a 50 to 100 year view on management of a company, whereas we run our companies on a quarterly basis??? Not good!!!’” Trump said.
The wisdom of quarterly reports has come under question before. In a 2018 op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon advocated doing away with quarterly guidance, though not earnings reports.
“In our experience, quarterly earnings guidance often leads to an unhealthy focus on short-term profits at the expense of long-term strategy, growth and sustainability,” the pair wrote.
If Trump is for it…
Meh, people panicking about short term headwinds provides buying opportunities. It’s not the quarterly reports that create short term thinking, it’s the short term based compensation packages for execs, and the gun for hire attitude in choosing them.
The Dead Internet theory isn’t coming…it has already moved in and moved onto another phase.
There is no difference anymore between a bot and the average mouth-breather with a WiFi connection. At least old-school idiots had a little personality to their stupidity. They had unique typos, bizarre logic, creative ways of being wrong and stupid. Now it’s just NPCs running the same handful of prefab scripts: copy-paste political opinions, recycled memes, and buzzwords they couldn’t define if you waterboarded them.
Bots were supposed to imitate humans. Well, the joke is on us – the humans on the left of the bell curve now imitate the bots. Everyone’s a cut-and-paste hive-mind terminal now, droning out the same takes like a broken Alexa.
You can’t tell if the thing arguing with you online is a government psy-op, a botnet farm in Bangalore, or Kyle from down the street with 4.7 brain cells left after huffing TikTok for six years. Doesn’t matter. The result’s the same: an endless loop of canned thoughts with no spark behind the eyes.
Dead Internet Theory? Nah. Dead people. The net just held the mirror up and they leaned in.

Apologies if drugs, arse but this could be bigly:
WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today made conditional commitments to provide high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) to three U.S. companies to meet near-term fuel needs. The second round of HALEU allocations will support the testing of two advanced reactor designs and jumpstart a new domestic advanced fuel line to unleash an American nuclear energy renaissance.
“President Trump has prioritized jumpstarting a true nuclear energy renaissance, and the Department of Energy is doing everything within its power to achieve this ambitious agenda, including increasing access to materials needed to fabricate advanced nuclear fuels,” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. “We’re reducing our dependence on foreign-sourced minerals while giving the private sector the boost it needs to succeed. The HALEU allocation program is a win for the economy, energy security, and the American people.”

(actually, c’mon home fusion-unit, but baby steps)
Ya a nuclear revival would be awesome.
In for home fusion.
I was told Mr Fusion would be available by now.
OBE:
That sentiment is a dangerous one in KY.
I used to follow Terrestrial energy like 7 or 8 years ago I honestly hoped something would come by 2025 from one company or another.
Nice.
I know you are but what am I?
House Speaker Mike Johnson has been an important voice in calling for calm. The Louisiana Republican said on Fox News on Sunday, “The key is to remember that you can disagree with someone vehemently on policy and not hate them as a person.”
“You know, people have got to stop framing simple policy disagreements in terms of existential threats to our democracy and all these phrases you hear all the time,” Johnson said. “You can’t call the other side fascists and enemies of the state and not understand that there are some deranged people in our society who will take that as cues to act and do crazy and dangerous things.”
Johnson’s comments might have been intended to heal. But they pointed to a major issue driving division. Many Democrats believe the House speaker and other GOP leaders construe any condemnation of Trump and his antics — which have often challenged the law — as unacceptable extremism.
Good men cannot sit idly by while the Nazis are taking over.
The left is very much like a woman. They refuse to accept accountability for anything.
Don’t tell her that!
Hm… I wonder what else counts as “unacceptable extremism”.
Bet you can guess what they consider “acceptable extremism.”
In other news, the Bears once again crapped the bed and then lit it on fire. The Lions smoked us, and we had nothing to answer them back. It’s going to be a long ass season.
I’d mention the Bills but I don’t want to jinx anything.
Using data from across the world, we estimated the speed of selection against intelligence across countries.

I do not trust such data but damn… not looking good for old Pie
The US can climb to the top.
Surprised we aren’t there already.
Tied for 1st place!
Congrats.
And while Trump has autocratic tendencies and Johnson’s GOP-controlled House has abdicated much of its power to the executive, claims that Americans are living in a dictatorship are ahistorical. They ignore functioning checks and balances like the courts and fail to honor people suffering under real tyrannies abroad.
That said, Trump did refuse to accept the result of a democratic election that he lost in 2020. He incited a crowd to trash the will of voters before the invasion of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and pardoned hundreds when he took office again four years later. Saying that Trump has been an existential threat to democracy in the past is less an act of incitement than a statement of fact.
We only say that stuff because it’s true. He has no basis in reality to call us names.
“ And while Trump has autocratic tendencies and Johnson’s GOP-controlled House has abdicated much of its power to the executive…”
Replace that set of people with any president and head of the House for the past 50 years or more.
I see they’re rewriting history again.
The dumbest “gotcha” you’ll ever see.
Oh Jeez. I am very aware of the stupidity of commies but this tops it so far.
I award most retarded post of the day to Global News 9.
Do you know who else quoted Hitler?
Wow.
Birds of a feather
Gov. Kathy Hochul endorsed Zohran Mamdani’s bid for New York City mayor Sunday — an establishment seal of approval for the 33-year-old democratic socialist.
“In the past few months, I’ve had frank conversations with him. We’ve had our disagreements,” Hochul wrote in a New York Times op-ed. “But in our conversations, I heard a leader who shares my commitment to a New York where children can grow up safe in their neighborhoods and where opportunity is within reach for every family. I heard a leader who is focused on making New York City affordable — a goal I enthusiastically support.”
Imagine my surprise.
Sounds like bog-standard conservative Republican commitments too. Devil is in the details and the doing.
Laughable. Every decision the Dems have made in the last century or so of almost exclusive one-Party control has had the exact opposite effect on all of that.
“We’ll sink this state together.”
How were sieges fought 4000 years ago?
This letter from 1765 BC gives the full details of the siege of the city of ‘Razma’ in Zimri-Lim’s kingdom by a warlord named ‘Atamrum’ in the service of the kingdom of Elam & Eshnunna:

For the most part you would encircle and starve out the defenders.
“I need my money”
Maybe, get a job?
I have long been of the belief that government retirements should be very small or non existent. If you have a government job you should be saving for your future. Not the taxpayer.
What, no Soylent Green reference?
Co-host Lawrence Jones said taxpayers have given “billions of dollars to mental health and the homeless population,” but “a lot of them don’t want to take the programs, a lot of them don’t want to get the help that is necessary.”
“You can’t give them a choice,” Jones continued. “Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you … or you decide that you are going to be locked up in jail. That’s the way it has to be now.”
That’s what prompted Kilmeade to add, “Or involuntary lethal injection or something. Just kill ‘em.”
The condemnation was swift once the clip went viral on Saturday. Political figures such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom weighed in. (Newsom replied to the video clip with a proverb: “Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.”)
I never expected Newsom to have a bible scholar on his staff.
Probably used AI.
Fine, let’s ship some of ’em to Gavin’s mansion since he cares so much.
Never apologize.
Didn’t watch the Emmy Awards, but I’m not surprised to see (further?) proof that Hollywood elites won’t curb their egos or shut their yaps even for a good cause:
lol Gotta love current year.
