Wednesday Afternoon SugarLinks – her honey dripping beehive

There is something almost comforting that Mandy has always been and still is an offensive idiot. Like the changing of the seasons: you might not know when winter comes, but you know it will. When will Mandy reveal herself to be a deluded asshole again? Soon. She is inevitable.

And her rape fantasies are so elaborate. For a lesbian, she sure does seem to be obsessed with the flawed mental model her febrile imagination dreamed up of straight men. She sees sexual humiliation in Charlie Kirk’s interactions with college dingbats because she wants to be sexually humiliated herself, preferable by some rugged conservative, the peak lib-lesbian fantasy.

Give in, Mandy. Let a MAGA dick into your sacred temple. Throw down your Scissor God.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s Daughter Violet Pushes for Mask Mandates at United Nations

The 19 year-old activist spoke about the importance of masks and other preventative devices more than five years after the COVID-19 pandemic changed life on the planet for all.

Violet was appearing as part of an event titled Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call to Action.

Violet, a first-year student at Yale’s Davenport College, said that it was essential to remain wearing masks to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“It is neglect of the highest order to look children in the eyes and say, ‘We knew how to protect you, and we didn’t do it,’” the Ivy League student said.

Violet said that the current generation was showing an alarming lack of responsibility in going back to business as usual, five years after the virus forced everyone indoors for months.

“For adults, the relentless beat of ‘back to normal’, ignoring, downplaying and concealing both the prevalence of airborne transmission and the threat of Long Covid manifested in a series of choices,” Violet told attendees.

The real Long COVID is the damage that was done to these kid’s poor brains.

Speaking of reliable hysterics…

Civility Is a Fantasy

Civility obsessives love a silver-tongued devil, wearing a nice suit, sporting a tidy haircut, while whispering sweet bigotries. The conservatives among them push for marginalized people to lose their rights and freedoms and, sometimes, even risk their lives. They will tolerate a protest but only if you congregate in an orderly fashion, for culturally sanctioned causes, and if you don’t raise your voice or express anger or overstay your welcome.

Within this framework, incivility is refusing to surrender to hatred, refusing to smile politely at someone who doesn’t consider you their equal, refusing to carve away the seemingly unpalatable parts of yourself until there is nothing left.

To be uncivil means pointing out hypocrisies and misinformation. It means accurately acknowledging what people have said, with ample documentation and holding them accountable for their words and deeds.
It means protesting injustice while recognizing that protest isn’t supposed to be demure or mindful. It means exercising one’s constitutionally protected right to free speech. It means believing in science and factual information and public education and other such heretical ideas. Civility is a cage that we’re supposed to lock ourselves into and then we are expected to be grateful for our incarceration.

Roxane Gay, the bloated corpse of intellectual vacuity, always serves up some prime bullshit. No, Roxane, we don’t want you to stop living out your oppression fantasies; we understood without them, you would simply evaporate–they are all that sustain you. But, damn, turn it down. (And, by that, I mean your phone speaker.)

Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of Charlie Kirk until about 3 or 4 months ago, and I’ve only seen a dozen or so short clips of his campus crusades, but in all of them, his interlocutors were all male. I suppose on today’s campus that might still constitute sexual humiliation of college girls…

    • Nephilium

I had heard of him, but thought he was just a basic Shaprio style performer who’s schtick was letting progressives make fools of themselves. I may have watched a handful of videos, mainly from when he went out with Vivek.

To me, he came across as a calm, moderately intelligent guy with milquetoast Christian right views.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

That, and someone willing to walk into the lions den.

I completely missed the voter registration angle.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

To me, he came across as a calm, moderately intelligent guy with milquetoast Christian right views.

His talent wasn’t his intellect, though it’s certainly higher than most. He did, after all, devise a scheme to reach college students in the midst of their indoctrinations, and went ahead and did it with high levels of success, and despite the entire system being against him. His real talent was that he understood rhetoric, and how to form an argument for the people in front of him. I’ve no doubt that he could re-do that to moe accomplished democrats than ditsy college kids.

      • juris imprudent

Moderate, milquetoast Christian conservative – man, that’s David French territory. He’s safe because he is ineffective; Charlie was dangerous for the exact opposite reason.

      • rhywun

Some of his schtick was pretty provocative but no less so that what the left has been puking up for decades.

    • DEG

I’ve only seen a dozen or so short clips of his campus crusades, but in all of them, his interlocutors were all male.

I’ve seen videos of him debating women. The ones I’ve seen are about half and half men and women.

  2. Stinky Wizzleteats

Sexualized humiliation? Where the hell did she get that?

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Her worst nightmares, her wettest dreams…

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

It’s all made up bullshit couched in fancy, coded language to make her sound smart.

      • Chafed

So much this. It’s a string of words lacking a factual basis. But the words are so fancy she must be smart.

      • The Other Kevin

“Trump is Hitler” is getting tiring. They’re in a perpetual contest to see who can come up with the most clever way to say the right are monsters.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

If Trump is Hitler is now out, is Trump is Step-Daddy next?

    • The Other Kevin

That never, ever crossed my mind. And I’m a pervert. I definitely would have noticed if he was negging hot college girls like that Mystery Method guy.

    • juris imprudent

Who do you think loves Atwood’s hat-and-cape get up? The liberal/proggie women. There’s no other audience for that, not even the men trying to get laid by one of those women.

    • J. Frank Parnell

It’s Marcotte, everything she doesn’t like is literally rape.

  3. Nephilium

Vance was doing what conservatives often do — conjuring people so his followers have someone specific to foment against. This brand of demagoguery is incredibly dangerous, because when informally deputized vigilantes realize that few real enemies exist, they accept any substitute.

Yes, there were no progressives or liberals or anyone on the left celebrating the death of Kirk, Vance just made them all up.

    /tapped out there.

    • Pat

It’s only a matter of time before Vance’s radicalized supporters do something truly vile like make half a dozen attempts over a decade to assassinate the rival party’s presidential candidate or shoot a left wing campus activist through the throat in front of his wife and children for calmly sitting in a chair and talking.

  4. Pat

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s Daughter Violet Pushes for Mask Mandates at United Nations

It must be nice to have your college freshman idiocy indulged on an international stage because your parents improbably ended up famous after starring in a string of poorly reviewed B movies from the late ’90s.

    • Chafed

Garner at least had the decency to star in Alias.

    • The Other Kevin

That was my thought. 19, in front of the UN, she must have some sort of real talent.

  5. Muzzled Woodchipper

Give in, Mandy. Let a MAGA dick into your sacred temple. Throw down your Scissor God.

She’d have to remove that giant stick out of her ass first.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

A quick Google shows her to not look as bad as I thought she would. Still, I’ll pass.

      • bacon-magic

The picture I saw was a for sure hard pass. Look at the eyes…that one is batshit crazy. I bet she has cats and knits and/or pottery.

      • B.P.

I’ve always thought Marcotte to be reasonably cute. And a completely unfiltered, undiluted lunatic.

      • R C Dean

The candid shots – decidedly mid. At best.

  6. Stinky Wizzleteats

Poor Affleck Jr, another broken human being…what are her quals to make recommendations to the UN other than being a celebrity kid and apparently a loon?

    • Chafed

She sounds as qualified as Greta Thunberg.

      • Aloysious

        hOw DaRe yOu!?!

      • juris imprudent

Young, autistic, has vagina – check, check and check.

    • rhywun

Her qualifications are that she thinks exactly like all the UN elites already think.

      • (((Jarflax

Pretty sure the Un delegates all think “Sweet, I have a diplomatic passport in New York, with hookers and blow paid for by the peasants back home in Hellholeland, and retarded white liberals inviting me to their house in the Hamptons”

  7. Muzzled Woodchipper

The real Long COVID is the damage that was done to these kid’s poor brains.

Yep. The Ivy League apparently doesn’t, uh, filter their incoming students like they used to, I guess.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

The real long COVID is the neuroses we picked up along the way.

  8. Suthenboy

On the mask thingy we might be missing the point. The aim of mask mandates has nothing to do with the cooties. They are completely useless in that respect. What they are good for is forcing people to bend the knee, to OBEY. That may be why those two are aiming directly at the UN, make them eat their own shit. At least i hope that is what it is.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

I think you’re overthinking it. She’s just young and stupid.

      • Bobarian LMD

But it is why the UN is a great audience to make that argument.

  9. JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

And Amanda has limited who can reply to her.

    • bacon-magic

      Freedom of speech reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

      • Chafed

        For me, not thee.

      • Nephilium

You just want to hate speech her, not free speech her!

      • Q Continuum

“You just want to hate rape speech her, not free speech her!”

        FIFY.

It is good ole’ Mandy we’re talking about.

…refusing to smile politely at someone who doesn’t consider you their equal…

    You’re not my equal.

So you’re saying that you are unpalatable? Your call, Glibs – biggest own-goal of the week?

Flock of Harridans would be a good Flock of Seagulls cover band name.

  14. Derpetologist

Rather than pimp my blog again, I will merely quote from it:

    ***
Amanda Marcotte is a feminist blogger with a habit of writing monstrous run-on sentences. Let’s look at a typical sample:

Part of me really doesn’t want to discourage Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachmann from continuing to hit the road and tell their largely elderly constituents that they need to be “weaned off” “government” funded programs like Social Security and Medicare—the teabaggers may not be the smartest people on the planet, but I’m sure people who begrudge every penny like they do noticed that Social Security and Medicare was paid directly by them from their payroll taxes and therefore the money they’re getting now is their money. (89 words)

Yes, an 89-word sentence. She’s not quite in James Joyce territory yet, but Joyce was writing experimental fiction. Marcotte is supposed to be writing humorous prose. Instead, almost all of her articles appear to be an attempt to reprise the Johann Gambolputty skit from Monty Python.
    ***

So yeah, she is the inspiration for Joanna Gambolputty.

    • Pat

I have no room to offer criticism, as I also construct absurdly lengthy sentences. But usually mine don’t include such retardation as asserting that the aged are being paid government benefits out of the payroll taxes they remitted decades earlier, which were insufficient to even cover the benefits being paid out to the then-current recipients.

      • SDF-7

I blame any Germanic blood I have in my background — I’m sure I could craft a two page sentence if I didn’t try to restrain myself. With lots of parenthetical asides (that I may or may not forget to close properly).

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

And because of your Germanic blood, it would all be just one word.

  15. Pat

    Speaking of the religious right

On both sides of the Atlantic, there is talk of a Christian revival as lapsed or non-believers find faith in God, leading some to ask if America is undergoing another ‘Great Awakening’. I suspect not everyone brandishing a ‘Turn Back to God’ placard at the Unite the Kingdom rally turned up at church the following morning. However, research for the Bible Society suggests that church attendance in Britain is indeed on the increase, particularly among Gen Z men.

Among cosplayers and believers alike, there is something distinctive about the form of Christianity that is being embraced today. If a revival is underway, it is as far from cross-legged, guitar-strumming, ‘Kumbaya’ Christianity as it is possible to be. Notably, the Bible Society reports that the increase in church attendance in Britain has not benefitted Anglican communities. Young converts are looking to Pentecostal or Catholic denominations. In the UK, as in America, the type of Christianity that seems to be in demand today combines traditional values with evangelical fervour.

I suspect this is probably more of a flash in the pan, but it’s surprising to see any kind of a pendulum swift.

    • Rat on a train

Maybe if the Anglicans abandoned their quest for cocktail invites.

      • rhywun

And stopped with the tranny flags.

      • Trials and Trippelations

There is a non geographic Angelician diocese in North America that essentially follows similar traditional liturgy and values you would find in Africa

      • Aloysious

I’m not sure if I’m right, but I do seem to see a lot? some? of young people convert to Orthodoxy. Because modern Protestentism is too liberal.

    • The Other Kevin

I do hope you’re wrong (you probably aren’t). But right now we have a very sick, morally bankrupt society.

    • SDF-7

I fully expect a) some are legitimately turning to God, b) it is at least partially a rejection of secular State-as-Religion / Self-as-God and thus c) They’re of course less interested in the lukewarm mealy-mouthed Buddy Christ template that led to so many churches walking away from their core beliefs to desperately try to keep any wallets in the pews be inclusive over the last few decades.

Not all — but I wouldn’t be at all surprised at “many”.

    • trshmnstr

If a revival is underway, it is as far from cross-legged, guitar-strumming, ‘Kumbaya’ Christianity as it is possible to be.

It’s not quite that simple, but the hippie Jesus is on his way out and table flipping carpenter Jesus is coming back.

There are a lot of people who are clutching their pearls about these changes. “It’s not winsome” they whinge. Yeah, well 80% of our kids renouncing their faith after 1 semester at college is a joke, and you’re the butt of it, you clowns.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

        What exactly is whinge?
        Or do you mean whine?

  16. The Late P Brooks

Demagoguery. Like accusing anyone who disagrees with you of being an Enemy of the State?

    • Trials and Trippelations

I’ve heard this before and I admit it’s difficult for me to see the growth, if it’s happening.
I anecdotally see the bleeding numbers of mainline protestant congregations whether that is simply congregants literally aging and dying off or because the churches have lost and butchered the theology in their pursuit of progressive politics to the point that going to church literally makes no sense is difficult to parse out. I don’t pursue the church going numbers anyway.
I do know myself included and some non leftist church goers I know are pursuing more traditional churchdom like Angelician or Catholic and others more evangelical

      • trshmnstr

Our church is back to pre-covid numbers and beyond. Much of that growth is young families.

We’re a bit of a mixed bag as a church. As far as our denom goes, we’re middle of the road. As far as overall Christendom goes, we’re pretty conservative. People seem to appreciate the depth of study and the genuine community without the 19th and 20th century cultural baggage some of the more conservative churches in our denomination carry. I know my family does.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I went to my childhood Lutheran church last month as they were having a service in my recently deceased mother’s honor. Attendance was a tiny fraction of what I remember. Nearly everyone had white hair. And there was a progress pride flag hanging on the wall.

  17. Sensei

Makes perfect sense. Hydrogen is far easier to find than diesel.

(Yes I know the diesel take rate is too low and H2 is only select markets, but it would have to have a higher rate than H2.)

BMW says the new X5 will offer five different powertrain options globally when it launches in 2028, though only four will be offered in the U.S.: Nonhybrid internal combustion gas, plug-in hybrid, fully electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and the one we won’t get, diesel.

Modular synthesis is frustratingly filled to the brim with the worst sort of poison dart frogs and ladies with lady dicks. And despite being a legend in that space, I’d be quite surprised if he doesn’t take flak for shit talking both masking and the net zero fuckery England is engaged in.

    Tragic upheaval

The Department of Government Efficiency’s remaking of the federal workforce has battered the Washington job market and put more households in the metropolitan area in financial distress, according to a report released Wednesday.

The number of homes for sale in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia region, also known as the DMV, is up by 64% since June 2024, and the region’s unemployment rate is the highest in the nation, according to the DMV Monitor, a real-time data interactive created by the Brookings Institution with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

Washington has had the nation’s highest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for four straight months. The unemployment rate was 5.3% in January and ticked up to 6% in August, compared with the 4.3% national average, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

    Bummer.

Yes, but not en masse. People can be saved individually, but it’s gonna take a miracle or a catastrophe for the left as a whole (no, I’m not gonna debate this again) to return to sanity.

      • The Other Kevin

I think people are peeling off a little at a time. As I keep saying, the left isn’t winning any converts. You’re not getting anyone on the right saying “You know, I just realized we ARE fascists! I’m going to start voting Democrat!”

But I keep thinking of my parents. They are avid MSNBC viewers, 100% sure that everything they see is true. They believe every hoax and lie. There is just no getting through to them. I’m sure they thought the same thing about my siblings and me during COVID. At least they have finally admitted the vaccine is “poison”, but they won’t admit we were right about it.

      • trshmnstr

You’re not getting anyone on the right saying “You know, I just realized we ARE fascists! I’m going to start voting Democrat!”

I think there are soccer moms who are more interested in the rhetoric than the issue substance, and I do think they’re being peeled off by this harsher, more brash, more masculine conservatism.

Were many of them quiet democrats already? Perhaps. However, I do think there are a bunch of middle aged women who heartily swallow the left’s emotional manipulation and smear the remainder all over their faces as war paint.

      • R.J.

It would be a miracle. More likely the individual awakenings of former democrat voters who can still think will yank the Overton window far to the right, and the current crop of violent leftists will end up marginalized or in jail.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I am betting it ends up just like the last bunch of radical leftists who went on Assassination Masturbation; the rest of the country gets sick of them, quietly goes back to acting normal, and the most radical go underground.

      • Nephilium

        TOK:

One thing I’ve seen quite a bit is people who are coming from the left (generally), and pointing out WHY they left was the duckspeak, doublethought, and contradictions. Something they’ve noticed is that in their old circles, when someone entered and said they voted for %Republican%, they were chastised and blamed for everything bad that was happening going forward. When they left the Democrats, and talked to the right, they were at least welcomed to the conversation, even if they had to start arguing for their positions.

      • B.P.

I’m hopeful that a few can see the tension between the “be a good person” veneer and the “that church-going, college debating guy is a Nazi and I’m happy he’s dead” rhetoric.

Scott Kupor, director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, said last month that there will be 300,000 fewer federal workers on the payroll nationwide by the end of the year. The government has about 2.5 million workers, including military members.

It’s a start, but we have a long way to go.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

      Decimating them, literally.

    • Raven Nation

“The government has about 2.5 million workers”

Huh. Lower than I would have guessed.

      • Pat

Doesn’t include postal workers and military.

      • Ted S.

The government has about 2.5 million workers, including military members.

        Um….

      • Pat

Somebody’s telling porkies, but being that the source is Pew, it could be either Scott Kupor or the researchers. I also misread, the figure does include postal workers, but not active duty military, according to Pew.

      • Raven Nation

@ Pat: the quote says including military.

      • juris imprudent

        Does not include contractors.

      • Pat

The OPM quote, yes, but according to Pew:

In November 2024, the federal government employed just over 3 million people, or 1.87% of the entire civilian workforce, according to BLS data. That figure doesn’t count the roughly 1.3 million active-duty military personnel, who aren’t typically considered “employees.”

  26. The Other Kevin

Now the Dems are on the side of Christianity being bad. Again picking an 80/20 issue and doubling down on the 20.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

      Because of course they are.

      Christianity bad, child mutilation good.

      • Suthenboy

What the christians miss is that their arch villain, Satan, is actually the most unemployable entity in the universe.

    • rhywun

The Dems have hated Christianity for decades – the only difference is they are more open about it now.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Which is one reason why I don’t understand why blacks vote for them. Blacks are at least as religious as whites, and maybe more.

Ditto with Hispanics fresh off the boat, who all came from a place where Catholicism is a part of the fabric of culture.

      • Pat

Well let’s not be too hasty. They love Christianity when they’re lecturing Christians about how Jesus was a communist whose ministry was mostly about reaching out to all those first century Levant gays and trannies.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

The black vote is primarily urban, and urban politics are Dem.

Just like rural politics is Republican, and the battle is over the suburbs.

      • Suthenboy

I understand their hate for xianity. I am old enough to remember when the churches were the intolerant social tyrants. Worth remembering that most oppressed people dont wish for an end to oppression, they just want to trade places with their oppressors.

      • Pat

the battle is over the suburbs

I was under the impression the battle was for Los Angeles.

      • rhywun

The black vote is primarily urban, and urban politics are Dem.

Just like rural politics is Republican, and the battle is over the suburbs.

And Party is largely inertia and heredity, not thought, so yeah.

    • invisible finger

Now? They’ve been that way very vocally at least since Dubya was elected.

I remember the constant anger from the Jerry Falwell/Pat Robertson types that drove people to see the left as welcoming. That all flipped during Obama’s reign of anger. The blue cities and states still consider Obama to be the standard of incivility they must meet.

Sustained hate takes a lot of time and energy. Leave that to the rich kids that pretend they aren’t rich.

  27. Suthenboy

    Can they be fixed?

I saw an iinterview with Jane Fonda 30 years after her NVA bukkake session and she defended what she did. You tell me.

  28. Q Continuum

“She sees sexual humiliation in Charlie Kirk’s interactions with college dingbats because she wants to be sexually humiliated herself, preferable by some rugged conservative, the peak lib-lesbian fantasy. Give in, Mandy. Let a MAGA dick into your sacred temple. Throw down your Scissor God.”

She wants it in the ass.

This is why there are no libertarian women?

        Eh, forget it…

This is why she needs to remove the stick first.

  29. Aloysious

Interesting. I have no idea how accurate this is, but I asked Duck ai about the growth of Orthodox Christians over the last five years. This is what I got:

The number of Orthodox Christians in the USA was reported to be around 700,000 in 2020, but claims of it rising to 6 million by 2024 are unfounded and considered exaggerated. Accurate statistics for 2025 are not yet available, but the growth trend appears to be significant based on recent studies.

    followed by:

    Growth Overview

The number of Orthodox Christians in the USA has reportedly increased significantly from 2020 to 2025.
This growth is attributed to a rise in conversions, particularly among individuals aged 30-39, many of whom are coming from Protestant backgrounds.
The increase in membership reflects a broader trend of revitalization within Orthodox communities, especially following a decline during the pandemic in 2020.

This data indicates a dramatic rise in the Orthodox Christian population in the United States over the past five years.

I also asked it to write a paragraph about our own Derpetologist in the style of Amanda Marcott. I have regrets, many regrets.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I remember reading that those who are picking up religion, or switching faiths, are primarily going to a more traditional variant, as they don’t want the namby-pamby soft focus, but, rather, a hard God, and the trappings that come with it.

      • Aloysious

Cool picture. You are on fire.

        Mood music.

  30. The Late P Brooks

This makes sense (to me). If one is turning to a higher power for guidance, it is presumably a quest for definitive answers and not a bunch of wishy washy platitudes. None of that “live and let live” pablum.

Hard “no” on Mandy. I couldn’t get the smug asshole expression.

Agreed. If someone is a commie weirdo they lose any attractiveness to me.
