The Hat and The Hair Animated: Rerun 73

by | Oct 8, 2025 | Hat and Hair | 75 comments

Javier Milei, need I say more? Well, I will. Javier, as I call him, made perfect sense to schedule for a guest appearance on The Hat and The Hair. Gorgeous, beautiful hair and a Trump like swager while also being ‘libertarian’? Sign me the fuck up! Just one little problem, after 6 years of Spanish in high school and college I can’t speak nor understand a lick of it. It’s all gibberish. So my solution was to make up the dialogue through the subtitles.

The “Argentine” hat is a nice touch.

OT. Somehow despite the horrific government shutdown CPB had the resources to renew my Global Entry membership.

    WTF is actually shut down?

    • R.J.

A fair amount of stuff is shut down. And once it is down for weeks and nobody notices, Trump can cut all that staff and nobody can complain. It’s a great strategy.

      • Sensei

That’s the threat. I’ll believe it when it happens.

Although the news did say something about the IRS dropping people.

They don’t like to do that because they create “revenue”. A beautiful misnomer.

      • R.J.

Oh yes, it is just a threat. God I hope he really does it. He could cut 100,000 from the workforce and nothing would change for the man in the street.
I saw that he got a big set of his appointees passed while the government was shut down just yesterday.

    • Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

If my check this coming Friday still has federal taxes deducted from it, the government is NOT shut down.

      • Threedoor

They extort private companies to do that.

        1099 EVERYONE.

    • Ownbestenemy

My pay is shutdown. Now I am not one of those free vacationers. 9 hr shifts knowing I will eventually be paid…but for now, you get my benevolent services for free 😉

      • Threedoor

VA checks went out in the first.

Do you get paid monthly or twice a month?

      • Ownbestenemy

Pay period ended 3 days after official shutdown. Ill see partial pay but this payperiod is all pro bono…for now.

Just wondering how the hell they are going to blame the palisades fire on one guy. How the fuck did they prove that so long after the fact? Seems like bullshit.

And it was just yesterday that they were all telling us that it was the global warmings that did done it and that the fires weren’t being started intentionally.

    • R.J.

The governor needs a scapegoat. A guy who can’t even defend himself is perfect.

      • Tres Cool

“A guy who can’t even defend himself is perfect.”

So much that. Or a guy that cant even begin to afford to defend himself.

      • Ownbestenemy

I like the shit that media loves to run with. “He made an AI image!”

    • rhywun

At this point I wouldn’t put it past Gavin to find a willing patsy to make him look better.

    • Spudalicious

You must have missed my post on the Palisades fire. Other than the fuel mitigation issue, this whole debate has been derp upon derp.

      • Brochettaward

I did, but I’d be happy to be directed to it.

      • Spudalicious

        Here you go.

        https://www.glibertarians.com/2025/01/saturday-evening-everythings-on-fire-links/

Bottom line is that the only real thing that went badly in the Palisades is that you had a massive fuel bed that caught on fire in an 80mph wind. We can point fingers all we want, but given the fuel bed, once that fire lit off, the result was already written.

You suppress fires by putting water on what’s burning, not on the flames. With that flame length driven by those winds, water was never going to make it to the fuel source.

You can only put so much water through a water system, and no system on the planet is designed to supply a firefight like that. In addition, given the terrain, you couldn’t have put enough engines in there to make a difference. Aircraft are on contract, and they’re not contracted in January. They’re setting HVAC units. And aircraft don’t fly with winds above 40mph. We were dealing with 80mph, at night.

As for the fire starting a week earlier, “cold trailing” means putting a line around a fire down to mineral soil. That doesn’t mean that something isn’t percolating below that line, even though every effort has been made to prevent it.

      • Brochettaward

I don’t know enough to question any of that, but my point was simply that this guy is being turned into a scapegoat for the bad PR.

      • Spudalicious

This dude was a straight up Spark. Given how politicized the whole thing has been, I’m not surprised the perp is being used as a pawn. But bottom line is he needs to disappear into a dark hole.

  4. Suthenboy

1972 I rolled my sleeping bag out next to a fire I made. Everything was fine. I was warm all night. Next morning I put the fire out but little did I. know the fire sas smoldering under the ground in roots and buried leaves until the middle 80s when a wood elf puffed it up into a full blown fire and half of central LA went up in smoke.
Or maybe it was the dog hunters temper tantrum on having their leases terminated. It is hard to say.

  5. R.J.

I loved this episode when it came out. His stoned hair is the best.

  6. Sean

    😂🤣😂🤣

    • Evan from Evansville

      I strongly agree.

    • rhywun

      Was German hat Hitler??

I always forget his accent was more or less German redneck.

      • CPRM

        Yes, that was Literally Hitler.

      • rhywun

I thought so. Yeah, his accent is very south/Austria. Not mainstream Germany at all.

  7. Fourscore

If Trump would have sent the money the Argentine guy would have been speaking English.

I saw a young Hispanic guy working at the Chinese restaurant today, everyone speaking American.

    • rhywun

I saw wypipo running a sandwich shop recently and remembered I’m not in NYC anymore.

      • UnCivilServant

It’s a Sandwich shop, anyone else running one is guilty of cultural apropriation

        /Progic.

      • rhywun

To be fair, wypipo run pretty much every kind of restaurant here if only because demographics. There’s an Indian restaurant across the street I haven’t checked out yet which might be an exception.

    • Threedoor

That’s how Panda Express is in central Washington.

Somehow in Lewiston Idaho we have actual Asians, not the distant descendants of Asians but the real deal.

  8. Ownbestenemy

Surprised Californians are entertaining that Porter lady. Being from fly-over country and all.

As someone who grew up in Cali, that accent would grate on me.

    • rhywun

      What accent?

lol Wikipedia actually has a sound-clip of her. She could easily come from my hometown.

  9. Chipping Pioneer

    Thank fuck that’s over.

LOL @ Yankees fans. What a bunch of idiots.

    • rhywun

Not a fan of either team but congrats Tranno fans.

    • creech

Phillies hanging in even with two innings where there were two on with no outs and $50 million in payroll couldn’t produce a run.

      • rhywun

I was wondering what the ticket prices are.

Read the other day that Super Bowl tickets start at around $5,000.

      • rhywun

I hate everything Los Angeles by default so yeah, I have to root for the Phillies here.

    • Brochettaward

You, sir, have never Firsted! Will never god damn First! You would know an idiot when you see one because you are one!

  10. Muzzled Woodchipper

Liberals are about to lose their shit.

A peace deal negotiated.* Peace is the last thing they wanted.

    *standard disclaimer

    • Gustave Lytton

Betting pool open for how long the “peace” lasts.

      • UnCivilServant

It will be over before the ink dries.

    • rhywun

There better be a “FAFO” clause, but I don’t think there is.

      • UnCivilServant

Gaza isn’t that big – how many nukes would it take to erase it?

  11. Gustave Lytton

Back to the war ravaged inferno tomorrow. If it hasn’t burned entirely to the ground. Maybe I should film praying over my fast food lunch to get in the spirit.

    • Ted S.

      What’s the synopsis?

  12. Evan from Evansville

Cubs managed to not get swept. I’ll try not to get swept under.

Back to the aisles. Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize, which I’d kill for, would be just too damn funny.

    • Ted S.

It’s supposed to go below freezing overnight between tonight and tomorrow.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, EfE, Ted’S., U, and Roat!

      • Gender Traitor

Hey there! How are you today?

      • UnCivilServant

I improve, but if you check your email, I had insomnia.

      • Gender Traitor

Got it! 😃👍 I’ll read the additional text this evening.

    • UnCivilServant

I don’t think they sold suppressors.

    • Rat on a train

They have a mini shoe store attached?

    • Not Adahn

I miss LJS. They were the first chain to batter their fries, which made them actually edible after bringing them home.

  13. Sensei

I like, but don’t love the Beatles. But I draw the line at Yoko.

Who the fuck alive is going to buy this? How many hippies are left with this interest?

‘Power to the People’ Review: John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Productive Partnership

But they must know their audience.

But the shows are annoyingly incomplete. Missing from both is the opening track from “Some Time in New York City,” a powerful feminist broadside that uses a racial epithet in its title. A Universal spokesman told me that the label and the Lennon estate dropped it in deference to current sensitivities. The studio version, too, has been excised from the set’s remix of “Some Time in New York City.”

    • UnCivilServant

I’m lukewarm on the Beatles. Their best work is the covers of their songs by other groups.

    • Gender Traitor

I know the track whereof the writer speaks. No great loss. But of course I could do without pretty much all of John’s post-Beatles oeuvre. And Paul’s, for that matter. (I do like quite a few Beatles songs, but I like to think I’m not rabid about it.)

Every holiday season when some radio station invariably drags out “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” I imagine the recording engineer thinking to himself, “How deep can I bury Yoko in the mix behind these kids without John noticing?”

    • R C Dean

If there’s a racial epithet in the title “Some Time in New York City”, I’m not seeing it.

      • UnCivilServant

It’s almost as if it’s not there.

      • Ted S.

I have a feeling that’s the name of the album and they didn’t name the song because people are too immature to see a hurty word.

      • R C Dean

Rereading, I think Ted is right. I believe the track referred to is “Woman is the Nigger of the World”.

      • UnCivilServant

Then why couldn’t they say so and sound less insane?

      • Ted S.

because people are too immature to see a hurty word
