I need to audit a hospital in Wisconsin. The 28 year old blonde chick from Florida I hired starts next week so I have that going for me. In the meantime, here’s the gif:

¡enlaces!

The saber rattling with Venezuela will continue until the military realizes it doesn’t have to follow illegal orders.

A Mexican woman was crowned Miss Universe. She’s not that hot, but thankfully we don’t have to follow illegal orders from Miss Universe.

You mean to tell me it could’ve been an inside job? See this is the type of democracy we can expect when you know you don’t have to follow illegal orders.

That’s the spirit Jair! Don’t follow illegal orders.

Since Mexico and Venezuela don’t follow illegal orders, Cuba was able to ease restrictions on use of their power grid.

A shitbag murderer was deported, because nobody spoke out and asserted they don’t follow illegal orders.

Here’s a tune I keep hearing at the gym. You are under no obligation to follow my illegal order to click this link.

We learned about those things way before My Lai. As far back as I can remember in my earliest Army days we were taught the differences between lawful/unlawful orders.

Jair Bolsonaro, the former Brazilian president convicted of plotting a coup, has blamed medicine-induced “paranoia” for damage he caused to his ankle monitor – a day after he was removed from house arrest into detention.

At a hearing in Brasília, he admitted trying to open the monitor with a soldering iron on Friday until he “came to his senses”, court documents show. He said he had had no intention of fleeing.

As much as I love Leo Moracchioli (and hate agreeing with The Hyperbole about anything), the original has never been equaled.

    Capitalist parasites

In a press release, the DOJ promised the proposed settlement “would help restore free market competition in rental markets for millions of American renters.”

For years since the pandemic started, rental prices outpaced inflation, and the DOJ suspected that RealPage was the dominant force driving a market that never favored renters. Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics data covering a 12-month period ending this September showed rents are still rising by 3.5 percent amid an affordability crisis, leaving some US renters in fear of housing instability.

In its complaint filed last August, the DOJ alleged that RealPage collected sensitive information daily from landlords, making it easier to see how competitors were pricing units. This information allegedly helped landlords “identify situations” where they could “have a $50 increase instead of a $10 increase” or eliminate “renter-friendly concessions (like a free month’s rent or waived fees)” they may have used “to attract or retain renters.”

“To RealPage, the ‘greater good’ is served by ensuring that otherwise competing landlords rob Americans of the fruits of competition—lower rental prices, better leasing terms, more concessions,” the DOJ alleged.

Nobody ever used that info to undercut the competition?

Maybe the market is supply-constrained. What will the DOJ do about that? Whom will they extort?

    • rhywun

Why am I getting the sense this is complete bullshit? Since when is a business only allowed to operate in the dark?

Makes as much sense as anything else. If Trump thinks a guerrilla war in Latin America will improve his poll numbers, he’s sadly mistaken.

    • Brochettaward

It’s really hard to follow that Twitter thread given it’s all out of order. There’s no real “proof” there without going down a rabbit hole.

Something has Trump in a tizzy with regards to Venezuela so it wouldn’t surprise me if he really believed it. I don’t believe it’s drugs or socialism that bother him all of a sudden.

  15. hayeksplosives

    Ok, upstate New York Glibs.

I’m flying out for a job interview next week to Victor.

Is it livable for a Glibertarian?

I lived in Minnesota for 19 years so I can handle cold and snow.

    • Sensei

You made me look at a map. It’s outside Rochester. Alright NY Glibs – what is the lake effect snow there?

NY is a bit like NJ – outside the Blue urban areas it’s solidly red.

      • UnCivilServant

Rochester gets less lake effect than Buffalo or Syracuse, because the winds are commonly out of the west, meaning it gets hit only when they shift to come more out of the northwest.

      • Nephilium

Huh. Just went looking, as we’ve got a pretty standard snow belt map for Ohio, and I figured there would be something similar for New York, but I’m not seeing much.

      • UnCivilServant

        Ohioans needed a map?

      • rhywun

Here is one that shows NY.

Those numbers look greatly exaggerated to me, though. Maybe realistic a couple decades ago? My current town appears to be in the 48″-60″ zone but the last two winters totaled about two inches each. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • UnCivilServant

      Victor near Rochester?

I lived around Rochester during college and shortly after – I’ve not heard anything about crime problems for that town. I did not live in Victor proper (Henrietta and Webster for me). I also didn’t hear anything against it.

Since you’re okay with the snow, you should be all right.

      • UnCivilServant

Politically, I’m afraid I wasn’t too aware of those factors when I lived in the area.

    • rhywun

Victor is a satellite town/village – I grew up in Rochester and even I have probably never been there. There is a mall, that’s about all I can offer. There is probably little or no crime. The politics are probably middle of the road being a sort of ex-urb. But it’s still NYS so be wary.

I’ve worked in several Fortune 100 sized companies.

I can’t count how many people accepted the narrative on vaccines until covid came around and they tried to ram that shit down our throats.

      • Fourscore

All the old people I know lined up (or drove up) for the vaccine. We were safe by herd immunity. We got some criticism from friends that should have known better, about the vaccines

    • juris imprudent

Somewhere between a struggle session and a whitewash.

The authors emphasized a central defect of Covid policy interventions – the failure to weigh not just supposed benefits but also costs. Science advisors and policymakers simply denied any potential trade-offs.
      .
Macedo and Lee found that lockdowns radically departed from pre-pandemic recommendations and were not effective in slowing virus spread or reducing mortality. Benefits were elusive. Lockdowns did, however, impose gigantic economic and social costs. AEI’s Roger Piekle, Jr., seemed to approve of some “shadow science advice” efforts, such as the Great Barrington Declaration, though he didn’t elaborate.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

What is “shadow science advice”. Sounds sinister.

      • Sensei

Good article. And an accurate summary.

Just returned from primary doc where I told her I’m not doing flu or vid jabs. She didn’t seem to care one way or the other.

I’m not going to waste any time on either of those propaganda outlets but does “anti-vaccine” refer to anything beyond the experimental jabs?

Yes. He’s a dick, but it’s not like he’s head of product development.

  24. The Late P Brooks

One of the men, a car salesman and a real-estate agent from Miami, whom I’ll call Jim, gave me a tour of the scene: an open-air military complex known as Bundase Training Camp, some forty miles from Accra. “I have five U.S.-citizen children, and they don’t know where their father is,” Jim said.

Judge West ruled that the state’s case “relied heavily on circumstantial evidence,” and that she believed the state didn’t rule out other “reasonable inferences.”

And…the judge didnt control said evidence, line of questioning, etc….

      Yes, she is corrupt

      • Sean

So…the defense attorney was a complete fuck up?

      • Ownbestenemy

Ya so should have been a mistrial…but this judge allowed it to go to jury and then overrule. What the fuck is a jury trial for if our Nazgul can just decree otherwise

      • R C Dean

“Circumstantial” evidence just means “not testimony” – stuff like, you know, financial records, video, fingerprints, that kind of thing. There is zero requirement for testimonial evidence in any kind of trial.

    • R C Dean

Holy crap. I’m not sure what appeal options the prosecution has, but I’m not thinking they are good.

Yeah, sic some the DOGE autists on her financials. I bet they find something. I mean, I guess an AWFL in a black robe might do this for the warm tingles in her no-no place, but jeebus. Judges never, never, overrule juries.

      • Ownbestenemy

Right along the lines from the article the otherday of “think of the thieves! They go to church!”

We have some serious issues in this country that are held at bay by the thin line of “we still eat”

      • Raven Nation

        So, is double jeopardy attached?

      • Ted S.

Jury nullification is evil, but judge nullification is virtuous.

    • Ted S.

I assume there’s also ahistorical racial casting?

      • Ownbestenemy

Little John is a black dude but easily you can cast that. More a teenaged love story wrought with all the anguish that comes with it.

      • Ownbestenemy

The “chick” in it actually is given a good backstory of pretending to be a dude but really is a girl, but we are at least afforded the explanation it is easier for her to pretend otherwise

    • ron73440

I remember being excited to go see Russell Crowe’s Robin Hood when it first came out.

It was after Gladiator with the same director and the trailer looked really good.

      That movie was garbage.

Is this a new one you’re talking about?

      • Ownbestenemy

Ya a TV show…and surprisingly, I believe the queen is the sister of Commodus from Gladiator.
