“We have been astronomers since the dawn of time. It is our duty to observe the skies for eternity to prevent the great crash of the past.
Since we do not have the technology for space flight we’re essentially trapped on our planet Roodut, looking to the skies.
It is said in eons past, we spoke to the stars themselves, and those who dwelt among them, but we have long since lost the art of starspeak, and then you arrived.
Your ability to speak Our language was odd but not unexpected so we thought you may be good citizens. Sadly you are rude and arrogant, taking what you want and pissing all over everything.
While docile we may appear my small canine friends, bear in mind, we have met you before and won, and we can do it again.”
Roodach the spotted, 34th generational, Spot faction, Roodut.
The town that the Canidae acquired was named Tween in the local jargon, surrounded by fields and copses of trees. It proved a wonderful place to raise fresh pups, the bitches were very pleased with the arrangement as long as the Humans stayed away.
One day some digger pups found something quite interesting. A small idol of some sort, quite old looking but the interesting part was that it appeared to be a Great Dane, sitting on a throne. And made of solid gold.
“So, what do you think Ruby?” barked Max. The dachs technician also doubled as an amateur archeologist and as she sniffed the idol over it became obvious.“Cap these folks worshipped Dog, maybe still do,”
The mere statement had a great impact on all those in the den, does that mean Dog is truly universal?
Max called for a security detail, and was marking a nearby tree when the pair arrived. Twin black Dobermans, they sat at attention.
“Dogs, your task is to escort this dach human to me first light, no disturbances if possible but I want him here alive, now, I nap”. The dobies were night adapted and the chase was on, looking for an unknown…..

Nice picture, Bobbo.
At my age I’m more into seeing the sun rise though.
I see it every day, every dawn, its an old person thing.
/ you know …
“…it appeared to be a Great Dane, sitting on a throne.”
Hood ornament?
More like a God
The Great Dane is the one that broke that toilet in the Outback Steakhouse.
He is solid gold…..
His head keeps spinning to music?

I looked for my bacon article, and it was before our current archive. Use this as your cure calculator:

You can add whatever other flavorings you want. Buy some 2 gallon bags, or if you can vacuum seal, that is best. If you want to hot smoke it, smoke at 200 degrees to an IT of 150.
My grandpa was the the town butcher. I would have loved to have learned from him. But he passed when I was 5, a PBJ was too complicated for me then.
Excellent, thank you. I’m leaning towards cold smoke currently, to avoid fat rendering.
What’s nice with the hot smoke is there’s very little rendering if you do it right. Cold smoke you will get a better texture when you fry it up.
I hate when I’m interrupted like this.
That line really should have been “when the pair came”.
Its not canine porn Ted, sorry

Retiring in our mountain-top digs near Dunlap, TN. Tomorrow we’re going up the railed incline to Lookout Mountain, which is lovely, but my not-having a coat factor will really come into play. Upset about that foolishness on my part, cuz it’s gonna be brisk. (Though checking now, says it’ll be in the upper 50s. I can swing that. *crosses fingers*
I hope the last week of 2025 treats you as well as it can. I think these last couple o’ days can be put to good long-term use, on my end. The youngest is absolutely on my team, and it’s likely the last trip we take with the 12yo before he goes into teenaged insanity. (Even the parents don’t know about the 10yo, though he’s becoming more expressive.) They really are fun, especially when *I* don’t have any real responsibilities.
Onward, glibby soldiers.
Woke up to my power being out. It’s like living in the apocalypse.

We’ve had a lot of wind.
Good luck. I hope that doesn’t mean your heat is out.
Heat was out, but I had hot water.
Good morning, Sean, Ted’S., U, and Bro.
Sean, I hope your power’s back on ASAP.
How goes?
So far so good today. Yesterday at work (just back from last week’s vacation) was nuts, but at least I have some hope of getting payroll done today (as I must, earlier than usual because of the holiday) even if some of the details of certain deductions need some correction later. 😕 How about you?
Apparently someone decided that all of the user accounts for a downstate group needed to change, and turned off their existing accounts. We got an email about it after the end of the workday, but nobody raised any of the additional fuss needed to get attention after hours, and now we’ve got angry people.
🤦♀️
LOL.
For me, I couldn’t get to my time clock from the VPN desktop. I had to go back to the earlier desktop and clock in from there.
🙂
Was still off when I left. I’m at work now.
I trust it will be restored by the time I get home.
Someone asked me in a fit of incredulity whether a Firster shits in the woods.
I had to correct them and let them know that Firsters do in fact not shit in the woods. They do not shit at all, good sir. We First from ever orifice.
A) You are not a Firster.
B) You shit in your pants, not in the woods.
That one gave me a chuckle, thanks Ted.
Good morning to the good morning crew., especially GT.
I wish I could run my taxes now. The tax year should end on Christmas so I can get it done during these holidays. I just want it over with, now it feels like it’s looming over me.
Good morning, TAFKALack!
The second browser page I open each workday morning is a local TV station’s site so I can keep an eye on the local traffic map. This morning I’m getting the warning “Your browser does not support Mapbox GL.” (My usual browser is LibreWolf,) So I go to the page using Firefox, and the map lands on some apparently random spot NW of Greensburg, PA. (Pittsburgh?) And I can’t widen it out nor move it west to Dayton, OH. 😕
Fuck it’s cold. I went to the self service car wash before work to rinse off salts, and the water started to ice up before I could dry it off.
>.>
Cold and windy on this otherwise fine morning?
Other than being surrounded by sick people, I suppose.
I went outside after work yesterday to fetch a half gallon of milk and almost fell on my ass. Ice everywhere.
(There was no milk at the convenience store.)
I slipped on a patch last week. Fortunately, no damage.
A cool 47 degrees here this morning, no ice in sight. Warming to the low seventies with sun.
