Survey says I’m a Paleolibertarian bitches. That means I eat “L”ibertarians for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Soave tastes a little fruity. Wait a minute, that doesn’t sound quite right…

    And voters are tired.

They are not asking for vision. They aren’t even asking for inspiration. They are asking for calm. After years of absolute mayhem, many Americans would settle for someone who appears mentally competent, speaks clearly, and doesn’t turn every week into a national blood-pressure test. The bar has sunk to the floor. Basic decency now passes for leadership. Newsom clears it without breaking stride.

More “Nobody I know” school of journalism.

MAGA is so exhausting. Why can’t we just bring Obama back? Why can’t people just allow themselves to be told what to do?

Yes, of course. Voters desperately want all the mainstream status quo shit they just rejected a year ago, and there’s nobody more poised to give it to them than a smarmy, radical fringe leftist greaseball who can’t meme, from a state that’s a punchline even in shitholes like New York and Massachusetts, who made himself nationally famous for partying at thousand dollar a plate 3 Michelin star restaurants while his state was economically cratering from his totalitarian lockdowns. Run with that.

Yeah, outside the sapphire archipelago, California is a sad joke, Newsome is a nuisance, and all they are offering is a retread vision of the seventies.

“doesn’t turn every week into a national blood-pressure test.”

That’s a choice each person makes. No one’s forcing them to raise their blood pressure.

But the real question is, “Can I shift my car briefly into reverse to ensure the terrorist can’t get up to pursue me?”

      Works in China.

As of September, the Los Angeles Times reported that $14 billion has been the price tag to this point, but aside from employing a few thousand workers, that money accomplished nothing. There is no railway and no train.

    Just like Flounder’s brother’s Lincoln.

“In the morning, IT WAS GONE.”

    Newsom looks inevitable.

    I can’t squint that hard.

The spouse was listening to some Candace Owens stuff this afternoon. I was vaguely aware of Owens as being Trump-affiliated, a little on the conspiracy side who has gotten a little more kooky lately. Well, “little more kooky” doesn’t even come close. Admittedly, I was zoning in and out of listening to it but, if I’ve got things correct, she seems to be arguing that global Zionists employed French Foreign Legion special forces (who, apparently, have a base in Baltimore) to take out Charlie Kirk.

    • NoDakMat

I haven’t been following along closely, but I think she’s implied (“just asking questions”) that Erika Kirk and TPUSA leadership was involved in the conspiracy, too.

      • Nephilium

She’s been a grifter her whole career.

    • Spudalicious

      She’s become batshit crazy.

      • R.J.

I think she always was, just took tome to notice.

      • R.J.

        Time. Arg!

      • Spudalicious

Yeah, success brought it more to the surface.

    • rhywun

She’s pushing some hoax anti-Jewish book on her podcast according to this author.

    • DEG

I haven’t listened to all of her Charlie Kirk stuff, and this point I won’t.

I will say, that she got one thing right. She was talking about Charlie Kirk butting heads with Jewish donors over his relationship with Tucker Carlson. TPUSA released a bunch of text messages confirming what was going on between Kirk and the donors.

Other than that, I’ll believe whatever she is saying when I see it. And I don’t expect to see it.

    Why I don’t give a shit about F1 in a paragraph.

Since 2014, F1 cars have used 1,000 hp (745 kW) power units that combine a turbocharged 1.6 L V6 gasoline engine with a pair of hybrid systems. One is the MGU-H, which recovers energy from (or deploys it to) the turbocharger’s turbine; the other is a 160 hp (120 kW) MGU-K that harvests and deploys energy at the rear wheels. Starting next year, the MGU-H is gone, and the less-powerful 1.6 L V6 should generate about 536 hp (400 kW). That will be complemented by a 483 hp (350 kW) MGU-K, plus a much larger battery to supply it.

Bonus. Compression changes with temperature. Like no shit Prof Boyle.

No, the reason why Lillian Bonsignore is the incoming commissioner of the FDNY is because she is a woman, and a lesbian.

Well, there is that; but I suspect being a radical leftist is going to turn out to be her main qualification, with the DEI stuff a bonus.

Radical leftism is the #1 qualification to join the kakistocracy he’s setting up.

    • Raven Nation

I think this is correct. I can’t imagine a conservative black lesbian getting picked for anything by Mandami.

    • RAHeinlein

Agreed this is a DEI pick – but I find it interesting that Mandami is calling-out the FDNY grift (at-least tangentially) as most calls are EMS and yet FDNY responds. I see this everywhere I have lived as both a resident and business owner – overkill from a FD response perspective when basic EMS was needed (and in many cases NO response).

$18 billion for a high-speed rail where not a single track has been laid

    wut

I suspect the true figure blown so far is much, much higher.

“He was still alive when the cops got there?”

No kidding. Who rolls out to get their disappeared daughter without packing? I’d take the shotgun. As in, when I got out the car, I’d have a shotgun in my hand.

Probably also a handgun. In that circumstance, I think the high-capacity .45.

Gavin Newsom has Hollywood-grade instincts. He was made to perform. And in modern presidential politics, performance beats conviction nine times out of ten. Newsom looks presidential in the way actors look heroic — before they’ve done anything heroic at all.

    This is delusional.

I can see Newsom running. I can even see him getting the Democrat nomination. He won’t win. The states the Democrats need to win won’t vote for a California liberal. They’ll need someone from some other part of the country, preferably the Midwest or Mid-Atlantic.

And on a brighter note: RC, if you’re out there, I saw your post about Santa Fe Brewing on the dedthread. I was in Santa Fe a few years back on one of my FreedomFest road trips. Due to being sick and needing to work while I was on the road, I did not stop in Santa Fe Brewing. Which is sad, because what you describe looks good. I did stop in this place, which I thought was pretty good.

    • rhywun

It is true he has been groomed for this his whole life.

The states the Democrats need to win won’t vote for a California liberal.

I am not so certain of that. We see a fake, a charlatan who has no principles whatsoever. Dems probably see a route to #winning and it is abundantly obvious that the vast majority of them don’t give a shit about principles.

      • juris imprudent

That brings an interesting question on enthusiasm and turnout. Labour in the UK got less votes in the election they won (a “landslide”) than in the preceding one they lost. Without Trump to spur both friend and foe, might we see a precipitous drop, across the board, in ’28?

      • kinnath

Historically, low turn out benefitted the republicans.
