The Rise and Fall and Fall of Tampon Tim

“Do you want a tampon?” Tim asked, trembling.

“Shut the fuck up,” Amy said as she pulled the black bag over Tim’s head.

“Are you my mommy?” Tim whimpered.

“I have to remove you,” “you aren’t fit to lead Minnesota,” Amy said. “Look at me. Look at me. I’m the Governor now.”

“I can’t, uh, see you,” Tim said.

“You know you’re one of the reasons Donald is President, right?” she asked and then punched him in his fat right kidney. Tim began to weep.

“Kamala!” Tim cried out. “I need you!”

There was a cackle, a distant cackle, and Kamala flew in through an open window on her broom.

“Kamala? I’d know that laugh anywhere,” Tim said, relief flooding his voice.

She cackled again and said, “I’m here, Tim! I rode in on a broom, like in Wicked! People love Wicked and so they will love me now!”

“That’s so brat,” Tim said adoringly.

Amy cackled back at Kamala and crowed, “Minnesota is mine now!” Her potato-witch face was clenched like a fist.

Tim peed a little. His prostate was the size of a peach.

Kamala reached out, fast, like a cobra grabbing a glass of Chardonnay, and snatched the hood from Tim’s head. “He’s mine,” she hissed at Amy.

“You want him?” Amy asked. “You can have him.”

“I’m running for President again and I need him,” Kamala said. “We’re the dream team for America! We will dismantle Trump’s kingdom!”

“I said you can have him,” Amy said. “I’m going to be the next Governor of Minnesota!”

“Yay!” Tim cheered.

A small Somali child wandered into the office and said, “Why is the window open? It’s cold.”

“No, it isn’t,” Kamala said, “you’ve just been brainwashed by the right-wing media to not believe in global warming.”

“Are you my mommy?” the child asked, looking up at Kamala.

“No, I’m not your mother,” Kamala said.

“I’m your mother now,” Amy said, reaching down to pat his egg-shaped head. “Governor Mommy.”

Kamala loudly scoffed.

“Why is this kid even here?” Amy asked as the thin, starving child hunched down and began to gnaw her very expensive shoes.

“This is a licensed daycare,” Tim said proudly.

Kamala nodded, her eyes narrowed in an attempt at erudition.

“We’re open 2pm to 6pm, prime working hours,” Tim said.

Amy backed away from the shoe-gnawing child. “Are you feeding them?” Amy asked, wiping her shoe on the back of Tim’s slacks.

“I get plenty of money to feed them,” Tim said.

“That didn’t really answer the question,” Amy muttered.

Kamala was backing toward her broom.

“I try to build their self-confidence by teaching them to forage,” Tim said.

“Whoa, uh, I…” Kamala began.

“But I feed them!” Tim said defensively. Despite the zip-tie on his wrists, he twisted to his suit pocket and spilled out a handful of tampons. The child grabbed one and began to chew the tampon out of the applicator like a fluffy Push-Up Pop.

“Cotton is very filling, you know,” Tim said.

“To the Jew’s house!” Kamala cried, “I’m coming Josh! I swear I’m not going to set your living room on fire!” She mounted her broom and flew back out the window.

For some reason this makes me twitch.

  14. ron73440

And whoever said that I jinxed myself talking about how well my truck was running, screw you.

My truck has decided I need a new project and will not let me shift easily anymore.

On the interstate, I downshifted to fourth and couldn’t get it into gear, so I went back to fifth and no luck there either, eventually it let me into fifth and shifted well enough to get home with about a 50% success rate on shifting.

I am going to replace the shift tower and see if that works before I try to rebuild the NV4500 five speed.

    • Sensei

I’m assuming this has no shift linkage and the shift lever goes right into the transmission.

      • ron73440

Yes, the shift tower has the gear shift attached to it, no linkage.

I don’t think it will fix it, but it might.

If it doesn’t and I have to rebuild it, I would be putting a new shift tower in anyway, so this isn’t any added expense.

      • Sensei

Are you sure the clutch is fully disengaging? That’s another thing to check before tearing the transmission apart.

      • DrOtto

Agree with Sensei on this. A bad clutch master/slave cylinder will cause these symptoms and is far more likely.

      • ron73440

If it was the clutch, would it be intermittent?

Also, when I went to park it in the garage, it wouldn’t let me go into 1st, but 2nd worked.

I figure if it was the clutch, it would be all or none.

I will check the mounts, the old girl is up to 378,000 miles, so they probably need replaced anyway.

      • Bobarian LMD

Per google, “commonly caused by worn detent springs/balls, 4-5 shift rail gate wear, or a loose 5th gear nut,” are common shift problems with the NV4500 (with your exact symptoms).

It’s the Quantity Learing Center now.

  16. The Late P Brooks

I am going to replace the shift tower and see if that works before I try to rebuild the NV4500 five speed.

Does it have a hydraulic clutch? Try double-pumping the pedal to see if it helps.

    • ron73440

Tried that, also the clutch is only a couple of years old and rev matching doesn’t help, so I don’t think it’s the clutch.

Without knowing anything about this particular incident – law enforcement personnel should not be firing at moving vehicles, ever.

      – You’re not going to stop a car with small arms fire, in any kind of beneficial time frame. If you’re trying to save your own life, then concentrate on getting the fuck out of the way.
      – You’re going to scatter bullets all over the landscape. Remember, the shooter is 100% responsible for where every bullet they fire ends up. That’s true for you and me, and it’s true for cops too.
      – You don’t know who else might be in the vehicle that you’re mag-dumping into. If you expect me to believe that you can clearly see into a vehicle that’s trying to run you down, you probably expect me to believe in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus, too.

      • kinnath

A federal agent shot and killed a Minneapolis motorist when she allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers . . .

Not stated that the officer that shot the woman was the intended target of the attack. He could have been trying to stop an attack on others.

      • EvilSheldon

Doesn’t matter. Shooting at a moving vehicle with anything smaller than an M72A8 is dumb.

      • UnCivilServant

It’s standard operating procedure to empty service pistols into vehicles. After the first few rounds the glass is less of a factor. The sheet metal doesn’t do much even against the first round.

If you’re looking for an ideal answer, you’re looking in the wrong field.

      • Not Adahn

There is a Kentuck Ballistics video in which they do “what caliber is best for stopping a moving vehicle?” in which they of course start with .22LR and work their way up.

        Except he killed a F150 with a .380.

It’s standard operating procedure to empty service pistols into vehicles. After the first few rounds the glass is less of a factor. The sheet metal doesn’t do much even against the first round.

Yes, I know. The standard operating procedure is stupid and dangerous.

There is a Kentuck Ballistics video in which they do “what caliber is best for stopping a moving vehicle?” in which they of course start with .22LR and work their way up.

        Except he killed a F150 with a .380.

Kentucky Ballistics, like most GunTubers, is a pluperfect mouth-breathing retard. That said, anyone can get lucky.

I also have to suspect that while a .380ACP round might have cause the engine to quit eventually, it probably didn’t stop a speeding F-150 in its tracks…

M2 .50 cal works pretty good.

Well, yeah. Hopefully the cops aren’t going to be rolling out M2s anytime soon. I bet that LAWs would produce less collateral damage in their hands.

      • Not Adahn

‘How is it possible?’: Berliners demand answers after sabotage causes blackout

Arson attack that left parts of German capital in darkness for days stirs outrage over infrastructure insecurity

Leftwing anarchist militants have claimed responsibility for an arson attack on Saturday that cut the electricity to about 45,000 households, almost 2,000 businesses, four hospitals, 74 care homes, 20 schools and a considerable chunk of the public transport network in south-west Berlin.

Roomier than my Civic, easy for me to reach the controls, just the right amount of tech. I priced used ones and they are going for $16-18k for ones without a bajillion miles.

      • kinnath

I own five Nissans right now. I like them. But I do not own an Altima. We did have one back around 2000, but we traded it in on an Xterra.

The Altima is a mid-size, mid-price sedan that was loaded up with one of the worst CVTs to ever make it to market. So, longevity is a real problem. They start out nice enough, but don’t do well in the long run.

      • Sensei

If you decide to go that route the CVT is thing to be concerned about.

They are delicate, but supposedly if you stay on top of them and service them more than recommended they can last.

      • kinnath

Apparently, the bad years were from the late 00s to the mid-10s. Nissan changed the recommended service schedule to do fluid changes earlier and more often. This is supposed to help things alot.

The CVTs are supposed to be better starting late-10s. The new service schedule stayed the same. The dealer tells us that we should have no problems in the 2019 Rogue we have because we are very good at getting is serviced. He says we should expect 200K miles without problems.

The used 2013 Versa that I bought is a different situation. It was from the bad years and the previous owners did not do the maintenance (apparently). It is in the shop now getting a new transmission that costs roughly the value of the vehicle itself. That was an interesting decision to make. The dealer does assure us the rest of car is in good shape, so it should last forever for us now.

      • The Other Kevin

That is excellent advice, thank you both.

One of the things that sucks in my life for now is that I got $7500 for my Civic from insurance, plus $1500 for hand controls. That car was paid off so we don’t want another payment. Which means no decent car until we file taxes or the lawsuit is finished.

      • Certified Public Asshat

The Altima was roomier because it’s Honda equivalent is an Accord.

      • ron73440

One of the things that sucks in my life for now is that I got $7500 for my Civic from insurance, plus $1500 for hand controls.

That sucks, especially when it was paid off.

Went through the same thing when my wife’s Corolla got totalled by an idiot turning left.

I had put new struts all the way round and had kept up on oil changes and everything, little car was perfect, but because it had 210,000 miles, they gave me $3500 for it.

      • The Other Kevin

@ron, yep. It was a 2014, it had over 200,000 miles on it, but I did take good care of it. The tires weren’t too old either. I appealed, but they wouldn’t budge. They did count it as 1 year newer in their valuation, but that didn’t make a big difference. If you do a search that’s the going rate.

@CPA I really should consider an Accord.

Retain pension after committing a felony on the job…what a fucking joke.

Only the cops get that fringe benefit. Judges don’t qualify.

    • Ownbestenemy

9 years of service….that pension shouldn’t be that much…pay her lump sum minus cost of State to try the case and move on.

      • UnCivilServant

Nine years for New York doesn’t even get you a pension. You need ten years for a 15% FAS* payout.

Mojeaux – OT – looking at your X post about men reading romance.

I will read Japanese language romance because it’s a great way to learn more natural language compared to other genres. I also found that I enjoy the stories. And you get to learn a whole new set of tropes…

      • Mojeaux

Oh, I don’t think it was about men reading ROMANCE. It was about men reading any fiction that scolds them for not being women.

Regarding Nissan, the are assumed to be in a second tier for quality and reliability after Toyota and Honda. Their good vehicles but not as good and the big 2.

Nissan is in financial straights because they basically stopped innovating 5ish years ago and have been putting out the same slop and cashing in on the profits.

Toyota on the other hand has been innovating is now producing vehicles that have major engine and transmission failures. Their reputation is taking a hit.

So, boring, old, stale Nissan technology is starting to look like a pretty good deal to me right now.

Don’t feel so bad – I can’t type any day.

    • Sensei

Their variable compression engine is a solution in search of a problem with the cost of complexity and reliability.

They finally abandoned the CVT on many models and introduced that in many of their newer models.

      • kinnath

I haven’t experienced that technology. I refuse to buy anything with a turbo.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Also they’ve gone to CVTs on most of their vehicles and those have rightfully gotten a reputation as being complete trash. Not fun to drive and very unreliable.

      • kinnath

I have a 2017 Versa. 4 banger with a 5 speed manual. Light, quick, and peppy. Very fun to drive.

My wife is driving a 2013 Versa with basically the same engine and a CVT. It is a dog and no fun to drive.

TMITE: Minneapolis driver shot and killed by ICE officer during immigration-related operation, DHS says

Brandon Hewitt, who is new to the neighborhood, said he was getting up around 8:30 a.m. when he heard three gunshots. He then looked outside and said he saw that a vehicle had crashed.

“I’m pretty right-leaning, but seeing this, this is not what you need to do,” he told KARE. “It’s not how to do it. It’s not how we’re supposed to do things around here in America.”

Look! See! Even the right is against this.

Eh, if he’s from Minneapolis he might not even be lying.

      • (((Jarflax

I would say I am pretty solidly right wing, to the point where I would applaud deadly force against rioters, and against fleeing felons, but that video doesn’t look like she was trying to run over the cop, or even like she hit him. It looks like she panicked and tried to flee and a cop was kind of in front of the car but able to get out of the way.

  27. The Late P Brooks

Their variable compression engine is a solution in search of a problem with the cost of complexity and reliability.

I still am completely unable to figure that out. Is it high compression until the turbo spools up? Chasing the perfectly flat torque curve?

    • Sensei

I believe that’s correct. It’s done for efficiency and emissions. Side benefit is the contribution to power delivery.

  28. The Late P Brooks

My wife is driving a 2013 Versa with basically the same engine and a CVT. It is a dog and no fun to drive.

Manual swap it. That’s what all the cool kids do (not necessarily on a Versa).

If you seriously considered the backstop you might never pull the trigger. Which might not be such a bad thing.

    • EvilSheldon

No. The cop very clearly stepped out of the way, and was not hit by the SUV – at that speed, if the cop had been clipped he would have been picking himself up off the ground at the very least.

The other video that Sensei posted shows the same thing from a different angle, and again shows that the car never touched the cop.

      • RAHeinlein

Some slowed video seems to show he was hit. No question that she was at a full stop, ICE was engaged, she backed-up and rapidly accelerated with an ICE officer in-front of her car.

“stepped out of the way” is a major down-play of what transpired.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

A much clearer angle no doubt.

      • EvilSheldon

I’ve watched it from three different angles now. The cop was not hit.

    • PutridMeat

Can I just go on the record as saying – two things can be possible at once. 1) Cop who shot was out of line and should be prosecuted. And 2) ICE should continue operations and continue deporting illegals.

It seems too often the case – not anyone in particular here – that one needs to twist the facts around a story to place their ‘side’ in holy light, not capable of bad behavior or even mistakes as if that’s somehow related to whether the underlying action is justified.

No, just because a cop was wrong and needs to be held to account, that does not invalidate deporting illegals.

No, just because deporting illegals is right and proper, that doesn’t mean we have to exonerate or find excuses for a cop that acted badly.

Disclaimer: I have no idea if said cop acted improperly, though my default bias is that he probably did. I just don’t get the need to cast your side as saints as if that obviates the need to examine the underlying question that you are truly concerned about.
