A Shit Excuse for a Beer Article

by | Feb 14, 2026 | Beer, Brewing, Food & Drink, Hygiene | 64 comments

Fun mornings at Peterson Space Air Force tended to include driving to the base, parking, walking to the ahop only ti be confronted with something awful.

This is my review of Goose Hate Bird Island Bourbon County 2025:

What was I confronted with? The sweet, sweet smell of sewage.

Seriously, Pete is collocated with the airport and a few other niceties of modern life you the locals like to put next to military bases. The Civil Engineering squadron is located downwind from a waste water treatment plant. So when the news comes out DC probably smells shittier than usual…

“It’s a huge quantity of disgusting, smelly stuff,” Chang said.

A stench remains in the air after a pipe collapse spewed millions of gallons of wastewater into the river.

…good. Its times like these I am thankful for my septic tank and not dependent on some communist sewage system. I handle my own shit, thank you.

On the topic of shit. There’s an interesting attempt at raising fledgling craft beer sales in Oreogon.

Would you drink bear poop?

That’s a question that Breakside Brewery and Columbia Sportswear are, for some reason, asking beer drinkers with a Super Bowl-adjacent campaign this year.

Maybe, just maybe, these Super Bowl stunts are going too far.

Here we were thinking Bad Bunny was taking it too far. What, too soon?

Wait a minute. Didn’t I review this once before? No, technically I reviewed the batch they sold in 2017. This was brewed in 2025 so it’s technically a different beer. Though it isn’t. I actually bought it again on account of the day being February 1. I thought the tiny little bottle was cute. I could grab it, and do the drinky drinky thing like pretending I was a giant. This must be what Hafthor feels like…still the same old Bourbon County. A thick rich stout thinned out just enough with bourbon to give it the consistency of used engine oil. You probably can get away with burying this in your backyard though. Goose Hate Bird Island Bourbon County 2025: 4.8/5

Now less trippy! But with grey for the commenting text.

      Commenting bubble is also blue.

      • Threedoor

I think the comment font or size changed too.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

Whatever the changes, they aren’t good. I’m about to go blind trying to read light gray on slightly lighter gray.

Like every iPhone ‘update’. Change everything to make a change to justify our jobs!!

Thanks to whoever fixed the page! (OMWC, maybe?) Links seem to work, so the only thing I’m not seeing is the big image at the top (photo of the beer can on Mexi’s kitchen counter?)

    • Tonio

      That was me.

I’m seeing the photo of the beer bottle with a collection of Tupperware in the background. The illo is between the second and third paragraphs.

      • Gender Traitor

Thank you, Tonio! I’m going to blame my current version of LibreWolf, running on my brand-spankin’-new Linux Mint OS for the photo not showing up on the page for me.

      • Evan from Evansville

Much thanks, Tonio. Y’all are blessed folk.

      • DEG

        Thanks Tonio!

For some reason, LibreWolf on Windows hates YouTube for me. Any video, starts to play, then maybe 20-30 seconds in stalls and never recovers.

      • Threedoor

Toino, did the piece I tried to send in on my phone a couple weeks ago get submitted?

Phone, being new at WordPress… may not have worked.

    • Gender Traitor

I was right! “Open Image in New Tab” reveals it.

  3. Not-so Rugged Individualist Hobbit

4.8/5. Is that the best rating that you’ve given?

    • Evan from Evansville

I also thought that queer. I imagine “used engine oil” would be a negative, but I’ve been fooled before.

      • Threedoor

        Dark thick possibly lumpy

      • kinnath

        “used engine oil”

If you are into barrel-aged stouts, then yes, this is a desirable trait.

I’m not into barrel-aged stouts, but this still is an impressive beer.

      • Evan from Evansville

@Threedoor: I resemble that gelatinous discharge.

      • Threedoor

Sounds like the kind of beer I like.

      • Chafed

Yeah, I’m confused too. That sounds like a beer I would enjoy up to the motor oil part.

  4. DEG

This was brewed in 2025 so it’s technically a different beer.

    The best kind of correct.

    I like Bourbon County.

  5. Threedoor

Deschutes Brewery winning awards confuses me.

I inadvertently bought more of their stuff several years ago after trying most of their beers and hating all of them. They changed their label and after a lapse of a couple years grabbed more of their stuff.

    No thanks.

Breakside on the other hand does have some enjoyable brews and I can see awarding them for their quality work.

@Tonio, I cant upload pictures all of a sudden.
I get “cant write to disk” when I try, hlep?

    From the ded thred:

Key to Epstein’s crimes becoming known was the testimony of his victim, Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre alleged that Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell operated a worldwide sex trafficking operation, where women and girls were kidnapped and forced to have sex with the world’s rich and powerful. This allegedly included royals like Prince Andrew, politicians such as Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, and academics, like Alan Dershowitz.

By this point, everyone knows this isn’t true. I mean I’m sure the depravity is true, but that T was involved is most definitely not, yet they print this shit anyways.

What would happen if one were to routinely accuse Obama of child rape when everyone knows it isn’t true? We couldn’t even rightfully talk about Hunter’s, uh, proclivities, yet day after day we see shit like this.

You don’t hate the media enough.

    • Threedoor

      Virginia Giuffre was a liar.
If anything she was a willing conspirator in whatever was going on and turned against Epstein to cover her ass. I think the remorse got to her and she offed herself because she couldn’t take the regret and keep up with the lying.

    • rhywun

At least they weasel-worded their way around the lies with “allegedly”.

    • Suthenboy

The press are shameless lying sacks of shit. News at….oh wait, never mind.
And piss-hookers. I hear some people still repeating that.

OT: I’m looking at the January Treasury monthly statement compared with past statements.

Income tax receipts are up compared to December 2025 due to quarterly tax payments. January 2025 is a better comparison than December 2025. I expect the statement for February 2026 will show lower income tax receipts than January 2026.

    The numbers:

Total Receipts for Jan 2026 are $560 billion. Income tax receipts for Jan 2026 are $317 billion compared to Dec 2025 at $242 billion. Jan 2025 is $305 billion. So, an increase in income tax receipts over last January. Customs duties are holding steady at $28 billion.

Outlays for Jan 2026 are $655 billion. Compare with December 2025 outlay of $629 billion and Jan 2025 outlay of $624 billion. So, a decrease over this time last year.

FY 2026 YTD receipts are $1,785 billion. Comparable period FY 2025 receipts are $1,596 billion.
FY 2026 YTD outlays are $2,482 billion. Comparable period FY 2025 outlays are $2,436 billion.

So, YTD both receipts and outlays are up but FY 2026 deficit compared to FY 2025 comparable period deficit is down. FY 2026 deficit YTD is $697 billion with comparable FY 2025 deficit $840 billion.

Updated projections for FY 2026 are still not available. The statement has a footnote stating they will be available when the President’s FY 2027 budget is released.

My facebook is inundated with dopey Gen Z progressive white girls (presumably they identify as such) ranting about the injustice of the SAVE Act. It’s now obviously not just racist, but misogynistic as well. And they learned what a poll tax is from some left wing rag and are regurgitating that claim, as well.

I can’t jack off to this so why are you showing it to me Facebook?

    • Brochettaward

I mean, I COULD do it, but it would require a great deal of mental fortitude and the mute button.

    • rhywun

Meanwhile non-whites and non-AWFLs are not interested in being white-knighted by those idiots.

      • Brochettaward

It’s madness to me. Even like 65-70% of blacks according to polls don’t buy this bullshit argument. 70+% of everyone wants this by the polls we’ve seen.

        Europe does it.

You can quibble about what documents you should need to get an ID in general. But saying that an ID is some onerous burden is absurd. Who are all these married women who can’t or don’t already have an ID with their married name?

The closest they have to legitimate arguments are on the constitutionality of it all. You could if you squint turn this into a poll tax and the running of elections is determined by the states.

The argument that Congress cannot regulate federal elections is nonsense. The actual text that progs are citing without ever having actually read it themselves:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

My guy. Shut your mouth and be happy she hasn’t asked you to get snipped yet.

    • Threedoor

It was hard to make the two we have I can’t imagine accidentally getting a third.

Sister wives sound like a great idea, no stress, lots of happiness, and the women folk have their best friend right at home!

      • Suthenboy

Wut? Sister wives? I would rather shoot myself. Keeping up with one is all I can handle.

      • Mojeaux

You will never get me to believe that amongst three or more women sharing a man, they aren’t getting a little sister-love on the side and/or polygamy isn’t a cover for their lesbian affairs.

    I remember Schlitz.

Old joke. Why did they ban beer at the beach. Because the girls were getting sand in their Schlitz.

Long before Bud tried to destroy their brand we have . . . . .

As I recall, Schlitz had a premium reputation on the East Coast in 1960s. Coors was just a legend and microbrews didn’t exist. Something exotic was F&S from Shamokin, PA but I doubt any of you ever sampled that

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Ugh, the Milwaukee’s Best of premium beers then. Schlitz is rank.

    Sparkle Beach Ken, world leader

Gavin Newsom’s message to world leaders in Munich: It’s time to start thinking about the next president.

“Donald Trump is temporary,” the California governor and likely presidential candidate said during a panel about climate change Friday at the Munich Security Conference. “He’ll be gone in three years.”

Newsom has long positioned California as a durable counterweight to Trumpism, particularly on climate policies that California has expanded as the White House retreats. He carried a similar banner at an international climate conference in Brazil last year, casting California as America’s premiere climate mover in Trump’s absence.

While it’s not unusual for California governors to wield the state’s economic clout to shape global climate policy, Newsom’s advocacy for the state doubles as a pitch for himself, allowing him to practice his diplomatic acumen, fortify relationships with heads of state, and sharpen his pitch for a post-Trump foreign policy.

He should declare himself Supreme Leader of the Free Republic of California.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Biggest state, stupidest governor. Way to go Cali.

      • Suthenboy

Stupidest governor? I dunno, he has some pretty stiff competition. Most of his competition are also women….huh….

      • Ted S.

Does Tim Walz identify as a woman now?

      • Suthenboy

        You have to ask?

    • Suthenboy

Didnt I just read yesterday that over a trillion bucks in income subject to state tax left his state in the last 3? years?
He is still in office and not keel-hauled?

    Buzzword bingo

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., warned Friday at the Munich Security Conference that Western democracies must deliver “material gains for the working class” to defeat the rise of authoritarianism and protect the institutions they value.

    ——-

“So it is of utmost urgent priority that we get our economic houses in order and deliver material gains for the working class,” she said. “Or else we will fall to a more isolated world governed by authoritarians that also do not deliver to working people.”

Blah blah blah workers of the world, unite.

  15. The Late P Brooks

Ocasio-Cortez smiled and sidestepped a pointed question from a moderator who asked if she’ll seek to impose a wealth tax or a billionaires tax “when you run for president.”

“I think that we don’t have to wait for any one president to impose a wealth tax,” the congresswoman said. “I think that it needs to be done expeditiously.”

That goose over there, laying those golden eggs; it looks delicious. We should eat it.

    • Suthenboy

The cookie-cutter commies are so tiresome. Every new batch of them go for the same tried and failed policies that appeal to the worst parts of human nature. Proof positive that they are there to loot, not govern. Ultimately the blame lies on the people.

  16. The Late P Brooks

    Why would they be?

During the 2021 storm the state’s grid struggled to keep up with surging demand for electricity as Texans turned up their heaters while much of the state endured sub-freezing temperatures for multiple days.

Many of the state’s power plants failed as they were not designed to withstand extreme winter weather.

There’s no such thing as winter in the Global Climate Tipping Point era. Winter-proofing the grid would be a waste of money better spent on windmills and solar panels.
