In my research for this article, I just wanted to post this link here to a commercial advertisement from 1993 that tried to sell me a Whopper for $0.99. The Fed stole this from you. Assholes.
This is my review of Chestnut Sports Club The Playable Beer:

Last week the CEO of the McDonalds Corporation put a video on Instagram advertising a new “product”. This was originally available in Canada and a few EU markets before they decided to try it out here. Which makes no sense, because such a gastronomic monument to processed garbage food cooked in poisoned motor oil—actually I take that back. Canola Oil (aka rapeseed oil) is one of Canada’s few major exports. Originally intended to lubricate machinery for the Allied war effort during WW2 (I shit you not). McDonalds needs to put a Prop 65 Warning on their advertising, and RFK needs to liberate Canada, immediately.
Anyways, watching this skin flint try to convince me this “product” was worth jeopardizing my hard earned microbiome let along my money immediately brought Krusty the Clown gagging in his own product to mind.
The result of course…lead to every other fast food franchise deciding they’re going to pile on and make this guy look like a McWeenie. Hell, even A&W decided to kick McDonalds while they were down. I completely forgot A&W was a restaurant, I thought it was just subpar HFCS root beer,

Anyways I know what you’re thinking, shouldn’t I try one before shitting all over it? That’s fair.
So how is it? Well…first thing to note it is rather large. Its also expensive (≈$10) for what it is. Ultimately, it is a Double Quarter Pounder with Big Mac secret sauce, fried onions, topped with a fancier bun. Not to defend the indefensible, there is so much loose toppings on this it is a little difficult to bite into without everything launching out the other side. However, its not impossIble and I even managed to do it while driving.
The beer though? Its a light pilsner-ish style that leads me to believe the golf bros are one of the few remaining markets where beer is heavily consumed. 90 calories? I suppose if you’re the type that pairs a 2000 calorie lunch with a Diet Coke this might actually be up your alley. Its very light, slightly lemony, and qualifies as beer if you happen to only drink beer on the front 9. Like your ability to tee off, it’s hardly ideal but otherwise playable. Chestnut Sports Club The Playable Beer: 2.1/5

“Teen sauce”
Made from real teens?
Secreted from.
Ewwww
I completely forgot A&W was a restaurant, I thought it was just subpar HFCS root beer,
The last time I had an A&W root beer float it was so sweet I thought I was going into hyperglycemic shock.
*recalls fond childhood memories*
#metoo. Growing up in a small town in the Panhandle of Texas, I recall a couple of treats that Bro Dean and I really looked forward to as wee tads. One was going to A&W. Always got the root beer float.
The other was Pizza Hut, which was in the next town over, probably a half hour drive or so.
The A&W burgers were pretty good, as I recall. The “Teen Burger” had bacon in it, but that was 50+ years ago.
A&W is the brand that almost died overestimating consumer intelligence though! You have to have at least a little sympathy for a company that tried to enter the burger wars selling a third pounder only to have people reject it because they thought that was smaller than a quarter pounder!
Now I have no actual recollection of this and am purely basing it on a meme, but we did elect Obama twice and at least some of the 80+million votes for Grandpa Drooliesniff were real so…
White Castle sliders, 5 for 20 cents with a newspaper coupon. My brother and I would go in, come out with 10 burgers. Dad got 3, brother got 3, Mom and me each got 2. No fries, no drinks. A big Friday at the Fourscores, circa 1947.
/Remembers penny candy
Damn. Dad was born in ’49.
I still like White Castle on the two or so times I get it a year. I know what I’m gettin’ and it does the job well. Not date material. Single dude in a rush, tasty small bites. Their onions are really good. Fries, too.
I think I’ll skip that beer, TYVM.
Why you shouldn’t skip your workouts.

A&W was great root beer back when Nixon was the Prez. HFCS kills another fine product.
Teen sauce? Too scary to think about.
It’s the result of Teen Steam
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtE8v_XOSEE
So much toxic masculinity in that link. I can’t even.
It was “Hires ” for me. Invented in Philly; don’t know if you could get it outside the region. ” Dad’s “was a runner-up brand.
We were drinking Hires and Dad’s, well, maybe not at the Fourscores but it was available. I remember my first taste of root beer, Dad’s, the next door neighbor had a big jug, like a quart. She gave me a little glassful, maybe about 4 ounces. I ran home and asked my Mom if we could get some. I don’t remember the answer but I remember the results.
I remember the first time my German relatives came over; they didn’t realize root beer and beer are two completely different things.
Sounds like lawnmower beer for rich people. At least it doesn’t have any capers, papaya, or tuna in it.
I bought capers on that trip to the store.
*kicks pebble*
HFCS is better than aspartame. I don’t drink either.
Yo, CAB porterhouses were on sale today for $8.88/lb. Eat more steak. 🥩
Love the graphic design on the can. Looks like it’s straight out of the 70s.
Yeah the clean country club logo caught me eye amidst the VooDoo Ranger skulls, the abstract art, and the corporate approved labeling.
You have to take dainty little bites. You don’t want teen sauce on your vicuna sweater.
I don’t know what’s more gay. That video or even knowing what a vicuna sweater even is.
A $10 McD hamburger is extremely gay.
These companies are run by people who seem completely detached from what their actual brands are. Like hey assholes you are a fast food joint. I don’t even know what would make anyone think that guy should be the face of McDonalds. Get some sloppy fat guy who actually eats there and he could probably do the job better.
At the risk of sounding like a prog blaming inflation solely on corporate greed, corporate America has definitely become scammier and scammier of us peasants with time.
They all are. Dave Thomas was the last one who looked like he’d actually eat there.
It’s assembly line MBA culture. They really don’t care what the company does and have no personal experience. It’s applying the same process at every company they parachute into along with their circle of friends before moving on to the next one.
I spent time in Bolivia/Peru. I am straighter than straight. I also had a collection of vicuna sweaters…the real ones not the alpaca/llama knockoffs. I think I paid about $5 each for them.
I don’t make the rules, Suthen. You don’t get to decide whether you’re gay. The rules do.
Let me go full Gay. it’s vicuña.
Suthenboy may be gay, but he’s still not going to sleep with you, Bro.
Dave Thomas
In a sane world, business schools would study that man. There’s an interesting History Channel documentary on him.

Several U.S. allies have worked more quickly than the Trump administration to harness Ukraine’s stunning innovation in developing new drones.
The U.K. in particular has already invested in the Ukrainian drone industry and the Kyiv-based Ukrspecsystems is opening a factory in the U.K. to build new, cheap military drones that will create 500 jobs — a manufacturing boost that the Trump team has long said is a central component of its increased defense spending.
The U.K. has also started to produce the Ukrainian-designed Octopus interceptor drones, which can target the Iranian/Russian Shahed drones.
The Octopus costs about $3,000 to produce, a small slice of the $50,000 for a Shahed, and a fraction of the $3 million- plus for a PAC-2 or PAC-3 Patriot interceptor missiles which Gulf allies are currently using to shoot down the incoming Shaheds, according to a U.S. official.
Give the project to a small highly motivated and underfunded group of people.
I was reading that most of the drones shot down in the current kerfuffle were done in by air-to-air missiles, not ground based interceptors. The missiles apparently cost less than the drones, even.
You already gave a bunch of military tech to the Taliban.
I don’t really buy any of the crap that comes out of the Pentagon about technology gaps. The budget is what it is and can never stagnate let alone shrink.
Drones aren’t some secret technology. America knows how to do anything Iran can and then some with them. Do we have the same size drone fleet? Don’t know or care. It’d probably be built in short order if need be. The tech and platforms almost certainly already exist to do it better and far more expensively than the Iranians do.
They’re using the “Lucas” drone. It’s a reverse engineered Iranian Shahed with a Murhican touch.
Does a Lucas drone provide it’s own Lucas smoke or do you have to buy that separately?
Can you imagine a drone wired by Lucas Electric? There would be a trail of them smoldering all the way to the attack sight, where two of them missed the target because of bad wiring in the targeting system.
Can you imagine being the poor slob in charge of loading ordinance onto them?
“The U.S. is years behind on tactical drone technology — the kind you see on the battlefield in Ukraine,” a former Pentagon official said, noting that the deficiency would be of greater concern in a ground war. “If the U.S. fought in Ukraine right now, for example, we would suffer mass casualties.”
It couldn’t have anything to do with the grandiose obsessions in the Pentagon, could it?
A $3000 drone? Pffffft. That’s like sending our elite warfighters into battle with rocks and pointed sticks.
You can barely get your beak wet at $3k a pop.
The Toyota wars have been replaced with the Temu wars.
This. I am waiting to see if this war in Iran is a departure from the wars/money laundering operations of the past. I think it is OMB but also Trump sprang this war on the organism so they didnt have a chance to ramp up another MLO; thus the objection to the war. They are mad because they aren’t getting a cut.
If Trump really lets the hammer down and wins decisively they are gonna be double pissed.
One complaint from every vet I have ever known: We could have won easily if they had let us. They wouldn’t let us win.
If it takes more than 20 years probably not a good idea.
Uh huh.
But sure let’s broadcast that to the world. 🙄
About 100X I heard people saying “If the U.S. fought in Iran right now, for example, we would suffer mass casualties.”
I will be generous and say that what most people think war is is based on their experience with wars since WW2. Trump is not any of the presidents we have had since then.
How many lawyers has Trump embedded with the troops to make sure they use restraint and stick to the ‘laws’ of war?
Former Japanese PM honors the dead.

At least he didn’t go to Yasukuni!
Ok….two hummingbird feeders out, dead growth removed from beds in the back, mulch around the seedlings…figs and plums…., bird houses and bee hives prepared for cleaning. Now time for coffee, a cigarette and some catch up reading.
The fed stole that? Or voters demanded that the the fed print up mountains of dollars and pass them out?
In the end government is always born of culture. We dont teach sound economics in school, neither micro or macro.
I’m ready to stop feeding the birds, need to clean up the bee boxes. Bees arrive May 2nd.
If I stop feeding the birds and squirrels I will have a riot on my hands. They already knock at the window like your turkeys do. Thank god I dont have any turkeys about.
I want to be anti-Iran war so much, but god do I hate the loathsome fucks who are currently pretending to be anti-war. Not a rational thought to share between any of the camps there.
My favorite have to be the ones who think that Iran is about to bloody America and Israel. The ones saying that America will turn tale and run from the Middle East and never look back because of this. That the Iranians have just been holding back and eating shit since forever as we sanctioned them, killed their military and political leaders, infected their country with computer viruses, and have now launched two air wars against them.
If Iran even believed it’s own bullshit that it could really kick us out of the region, it would have happened during the 12 day war or whatever the fuck Trump called the last adventure.
The loathsome fucks who are currently pretending to be anti-war are only doing so in order to express their Outrage! at OMB – i.e. troll for votes.
That’s what turned me full on hawk about Iran. I’d rather be a jingoistic patriot idiot suckered yet again than be in any way associated with the vermin on the left wailing about the death of Khamenei.
It may be stupid to get involved. It may further fracture the Republican base. It may end in tears. But at least that loathsome bastard is dead.
Some of them are still focused on demonstrating in favor of Hamas. I saw a clot of them near the supermarket today. It felt so 2025.
When I went to get my hair cut the other day, the same group of septuagenarians were out in the same place at the same time protesting whatever the flavor of the day is.
Like clockwork.
And amazingly, intelligent people can hold though two views at once. I abhor war, but sometimes a bitch of a nation just needs to get smacked.
I will say, it seems some Goldwater tactics are being employed in this age of Trump/Hegseth military.
Formula Genius
After being asked if he was OK on the radio, Verstappen said: “The car just f—— locked the rear axles. Fantastic.”
Verstappen has already been a vocal critic of F1’s new cars, which have created a complicated new driving style due to the emphasis on battery management with the sport’s new hybrid engines.
“I’m definitely not having fun at all with these cars,” he said after qualifying.
They have taken what was once a fantastic racing series and turned it into a joke.
What will the wizards at Liberty Media say when Max and Lewis walk off the field mid-season?
I cant be bothered to find out what teen sauce is but it sounds like a euphemism for something that would get you a dime and a registration as a sex offender.
Fantasy facing
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has hit back at drivers criticizing the sport’s new regulations, saying it is “wrong” for the likes of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to speak negatively about F1.
——-
“I’m feeling good,” he added. “I’m feeling good because we have the duty of bringing positivity in this moment of what we live in. I feel good because there is a lot of attention about what is happening on the track.
“I feel good because we are in Melbourne with an incredible crowd, incredible, passionate people. We have seen another step of being very attractive for the younger generation, and that’s thanks to what we are trying to do together.
“That’s why I do believe that the strategy we have taken is the right one. To keep really hammering down, knowing that we can sit and be focused on delivering something more for our fans.”
Where did that idiotic nonsense even come from?
I hope the fans riot.
“Shut up and
dribbledrive”, I guess.Aren’t the fans supposed to say that?
You’d think so. Domenicali seems to think otherwise.
A rare bit of honesty. Usually it’s “consumer’s demand for electric vehicles”.
JFC, pole qualifying time 3.5 seconds slower than last year.
Can you feel the excitement?!
Wow, 1:18.518 would have put you dead last in 2025. By over a second. Ocon was last in 2025 with a 1:17.147.
Drivers are now playing a video game with lame mechanics instead of racing. Using these controls keep the battery power level between these bars. I have abandoned games I paid $70 for when they interrupt my game play to make me do that kind of nonsense. It’s freaking F1. It’s supposed to be crazy daredevils diving into barely car wide gaps at 200 mph, not charging up their battery to get a brief burst of power for one try at passing.
Que?
“a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”
Shakespeare
And that sort of language is what the chattering classes glory in. Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg are experts in froth-speak, as I sometimes call it.
Just when I think I might be able to get into F1…
facing, racing- whatever
Yesterday I learned that the Robot Chicken credits song is based on The Gonk, which was in The Dawn of the Dead.

Just about time for IndyCar green flag in Phoenix.
Colton Herta might be seriously questioning his recent life choices.
Sure, they’re slower, but they’re bringing positivity in this moment of what we live in.
Yes, I am positive that the world has become retarded when I see this.

RAPE SEED NOT CAN’DA!! RAPE SEED STEVE SMITH PRODUCT! ALSO CAN BE USED TO LUBRICATE WWII MACH’INS, AND BY LUBRICATE, MEAN…
(seriously, four hours and no one made a Steve Smith joke?)
Its true, i feel slighted.
A&W is nostalgia sauce for me. Grandma taking us to the old drive-in A&W to get a rootbeer float after school.
I like framings of foreign wire services on how ‘the US mansged’ to sink an Iranian ship via torpedo.
I would imagine like one shoots a fish in a barrel.
The stupidity and lust to see American casualties on display have my hatred for the international press almost equal to my hatred for the domestic press. Of course then the domestic press parrots it so they pull back in front.
Hatred inspired by envy is a hell of a thing
On that note…I haven’t heard anyone point out that very few, if any, countries other than us have a military tasked with defending the country. In countries with ‘rulers’ the military is tasked with defending the rulers from the people whom they have systematically disarmed. Those militaries have no capability to resist a well armed, well. trained military such as ours.
There is a great difference between governments that ‘rule’ and governments that govern. Here at home the democrat party has given us no illusions that they desire to govern. I think that is why we so much pro-not american in their rhetoric and behavior. It doesnt seem like some subtle, hard to spot or grasp concept to me yet so many of my fellow Americans seem to not get it.
few, if any, countries other than us have a military tasked with defending the country
Switzerland and Japan come to mind.
So….three. I forgot about them. I prefer the Swiss model.
Never mind I see what you’re getting at. Carry on,
Everyone who is getting nostalgic about sitting down for a meal at an A&W Restaurant in the USA might be crushed to find out that the Canadian fast food burger joint named A&W is a different entity that uses the same trademark. They don’t even serve floats in paper cups (let alone in mugs)
