Unwatched S03 E09 – Attack on Titan Chibi Theater

by | Sep 6, 2026 | Media, Opinion, Reviews | 125 comments

Genre – Comedy Anime
Movie Total Runtime – 0 Hours 47 Minutes
Spoilers – Yes

This short film has almost no introduction, leaping right into a scene where two cadets having gotten in trouble with the commandant scheme to pull a prank to get revenge for seeming to be the only two to ever get in trouble. As only the second Attack on Titan media I’ve watched, I still can’t tell you who these characters are. I have to assume they expect this to be consumed by somebody who’s watched the series. That is still not me.

The prank fails as someone else sets it off. The second attempt again catches the wrong person. As does the third, which also catches them, leaving the lot to be swallowed by a Titan. Oddly, this proves nonfatal. as the next day rolls around and we get a new skit. That seems to be the structure of this work, each day being another skit on a different plot. Day two also ends with then getting swallowed by a Titan. I’m going to guess that’s a recurring gag.

Since the individual skits are disconnected, I’m not sure there’s much point in summarizing them. The giant-headed ‘chibi’ art style is right there in the name. The animation is minimalistic, with little motion across most of the frame when it can be avoided. Everything except key details remains perfectly still, or reuses a set of images.

It’s getting to be difficult to find anything to actually talk about. Circumstances reset every day where the characters are at a military academy trying to learn how to fight titans, but the skits are tangential to that. Mostly. I’d rather not do another double feature, I’m just coming short on material. I’m also mixing up the characters. The only differentiating factors with the art style are hair and eyes, and sometimes that’s not enough.

Another problem, is I’m not sure the humor works in my context. I’m convinced I’m missing a lot. And I’m convinced it is meant to be watched in short slices, one skit at a time in between other content rather than binged in a single go.

I suppose a short collection of short works rates a short review.

I’m going to recommend not binging it. The repetition of patterns does wear on you going straight from one skit to the next. It’s in general inoffensive, but unremarkable. I could tell you how I came by my copy… but I’d rather see the speculation.

So, do I torture my words to extend the article, or leave you with a chibi review?

I could tell you how I came by my copy… but I’d rather see the speculation.

It came as the prize in a box of Cap’n Crunch? (They always have the best prizes!)

Also, to display my complete ignorance of anime, what, in this context, is a Titan?

        Thanks!

BTW “chibi” is Japanese slang for small. When used for things like this it generally means the proportions are distorted in a manner to make them small a cute.

      • Nephilium

Wasn’t it also based on a PNP DND campaign? Or am I thinking of a different one.

      • UnCivilServant

Wait – how bad is it in New Jersey if they leave for New York!?

      • Sensei

        My first thought too!

        Different than super deformed?

      • rhywun

lol But to be fair they’re leaving Newark.

      • rhywun

Wait – how bad is it in New Jersey if they leave for New York!?

PS I like that I can buy booze at the supermarket now in NJ but I haven’t found a bigger liquor store with a wider selection yet. And googling for such is a futile exercise.

Friend cleaning out his place gave me a big box of anime years ago.

Plenty of random crap in it and incomplete series. Thankfully he culled the henti. How much of that his brother found after he died was likely staggering. He’d been collecting since the 90s.

I’m assuming it came attached to other downloadable festivities he snagged from 4chan.

@UCS: Psst! I just emailed you about the you-know-what. *winks, bangs fist on table*

      • UnCivilServant

I don’t think I’ve evern been to 4chan. I most distinctly wouldn’t trust anything downloaded from there. Too much of a reputation for trolling.

Also unrelated. Crazy airplane dude was restrained by the owner and an employee of a local range where our own WTF qualified for his CCW.

Mr. O’Lenick said that neither he nor Mr. Mejia got complimentary drinks after they restrained Mr. Lundeen, but they did receive much appreciation from their fellow passengers and members of the crew.
      That, he said, was enough.

Nah, they should have gotten free drinks, too. 🍸🍹(Note to self: yet another reason to continue your 42+ year abstention from commercial air travel.)

Different article said the guy got fired too.

He obviously had a mental breakdown of some kind. I’m guessing his employer wanted to emphasize no relationship, but it makes the seem like uncaring jerks.

So women should be defending him the way they’re defending Lindsay Clancy?

Well, I ran to WalMart to pick up some fans. The window in that room is an odd size and shape rather than a normal double-hung window (reason it had a portable AC instead of a window unit.)

They didn’t have a fan of the right size, and the sill is small, with a raised track for the side to side window (which has some stupid auto stop at four inches that you have to remember to hold open to open the window fully – I hate what moron designed this thing) So I clamped a bar to my bookcase to hold a box fan into the recess with its edges against the frame of the window. Hopefully, this will get the concentration down.

Annoyingly, it’s my bedroom. I’m disinclined to sleep in there until I’m confident I’ve vented all the AC coolant from the space.

“ Another problem, is I’m not sure the humor works in my context. ”

I don’t think it works in any context. The whole show, chibified or regular just never worked for me.
I salute your attempt to slog through it.

      • R.J.

Ha! I didn’t even read your comment yet. Yes. When I sit down I don’t want anything that bleak.

How about we defend Poland from Germany, and liberate western Europe from the Islamists and the Fascists who’ve taken it over.

      • rhywun

I’d rather the US just exit the scene and let European countries liberate themselves.

      • rhywun

The so-called “conservatives” would rather ally with no-shit communists than admit that their subjects are finally rejecting the decades of cultural suicide that is a major plank of every “legitimate” Party.

        Fun times.

I’m with Rhy, close the bases and declare WWII over.

The Swiss and the Poles are the most sensible, I’d say. They should team up and be the Swiss-Poleaxe. Big handle, from which smaller blades can swing out.

Mom’s dad was the first born in America, Polish family. Much rumor of Jewish blood in the family, but Catholic as far as is ‘known.’ Also a possible reason Grandpa was fervent in getting false IDs for himself and family. *shrug*

Oh dear. Time for Scrabble with family. No survivors. No sympathy. (I’ll easily beat Dad. Not sure why this is being played. Well, no other games on tonight. And he’s been thinking of becoming 77 (in 2 weeks) and age. First time he’s been talking about it. Here we go.

      • Ted S.

One of the exit poll questions was “Which party would you like to see form the next government?” Obviously AfD supporters said the AfD, and most of the other parties overwhelmingly selected the CDU. Except the BSW, which split right down the middle with something like 40% of BSW voters undecided.

Whatever coalition they get, it’s going to be volatile.

And who knows what effect this is going to have in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which votes in two weeks’ time. Berlin also has an election on September 20, but that one’s a five-way race. CDU/SPD/Greens will probably be able to form a majority.

      • Brochettaward

Poland is one of the few countries I feel like we owe help to. They have backed all of our stupid wars and contributed to them in real ways. They are one of the few NATO nations that actually cares about defense for obvious reasons.

But I feel like as a country that America can’t be counted on. We’ve spent so much time dicking around doing things we shouldn’t have bothered with that there’s no real will to show up for any ‘ally’ who actually needs us. Like a war in Europe for Poland no matter how loyal they’ve quietly been of our stupid probably isn’t going to fly.

I don’t think we’ve risen to the level of really having to contemplate this, but the Ukraine shit always ran the risk of escalation. But the Eurotards and left in general REFUSE to admit the reality on the ground in Ukraine.

There’s absolutely no way Russia is giving up everything it has gained there. None. And I can’t think of a single peace treaty in history where the reality on the ground at the time of discussion where the parties were expected to just ignore the no-shit reality of how the war played out.

Like you can’t demand unconditional surrender from the side that has won most of the fighting. That’s toxic madness and stupidity, but it’s where our current set of elites are.

Interesting related point from Australia: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09-05/how-labor-lost-heartland-secret-harbour-seat-to-one-nation/107115062

Basically, the anti-unregulated immigration party in Australia won a single state seat in a one-off election (a by election). What makes this interesting is that the conventional wisdom was that One Nation was taking votes from the Liberal Party (ostensibly a conservative party). Here they won a seat with the Labour candidate losing about 20% of the their vote. It’s a little tricky to extrapolate since the seat was only created a year ago BUT, the area has voted Labour for about 20 years.

So, it tends to suggest One Nation is picking up votes from disaffected voters on both sides.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Nah Bro, another 500K dead Ukrainians should turn the tide. They’re talking about drafting women now so the manpower pool is going to be deep.

“Jesus… you’re living my life from three or four decades ago.”

Yep. They’re lovely, but it does mostly suck. Other than ~3mo in Kokomo while at the Tribune? I haven’t had my own place since June ’22. It almost feels foreign, or I don’t remember it. Soon, me hope-sies, I’ll be able to rectify this. It’ll take a bit for me to get used to ‘my place, my shit’ again. That’ll be an odd reboot of an adventure.

Well, I guess I can rub in a retort (painful for the two-s of us): I don’t pay any rent, sucka. *moons rhy*

      • Evan from Evansville

Mom chuckled and said she was sorry for being dirty, and then played “taint,” which.. kinda made it even more amusing. Ya can easily make that not dirty, Mom. I thought she was gonna play ‘cunt.’ Or whatever. But taint, eh? I thought ‘that’ meaning was a rather new invention.

Is she checking in on ‘what the kids are saying?’ What else is she hiding? *gaze dips into gumshoe territory, realizes what he’d be gazing at, steps back from abyss*

    • RAHeinlein

Bingo – close most of the bases, initiate a massive standing-force reduction across all branches, minimize the number of lifer-dogs, focus-on “no dependent” forces with relatively short service periods. At this point, every service member is a long-term cost liability.

      • Threedoor

        Yep.

      • Brochettaward

Like, the country is right in the middle of a war regardless of what anyone thinks of it. Neither party has any interest in really scaling back what they ask of the military. Why are we discussing some pie-in-the-sky dream for a smaller force?

      • RAHeinlein

Because only an extremely small fraction of the force is involved in any actual fighting or near-in support capacity. Heinlein talked about this in Starship Troopers and frankly we are worse than he even imagined – massive numbers of service-members who shouldn’t be active-duty (or even reserves). To make matters worse, the insane disability claims – we literally have another social security crisis from VA benefits alone.

      • Threedoor

The force is massivly oversized and has been for decades.

Having based to do rear D in overseas does not increase readiness. It just spreads your forces out and makes them more expensive.

      • Threedoor

        The VA claims are insane.

And yeah. At best the marine Corp was 1:6 combat arms to support, army was 1:27 when I was in.

My entire company of 175 could have been replaced by 25-30 or so civilians who would have gotten more done than we did.

      • Brochettaward

I don’t believe anything that Germany says. Some non-descript weapon’s cache and talk about assassinations in Germany carried out by Russia. Is there any actual evidence for that shit?

      • rhywun

And it disappeared from polite conversation the next day.

That tells me it’s complete bullshit.

All I know is the days when Russia was the only asshoe in European politics are long over. I hate everyone involved except the unfortunate citizens who have to live under all of the repressive regimes there.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Maybe true, maybe not but who the fuck knows. The only thing I know for sure is you can’t trust either side including the Western Europeans and us for shit.

      • rhywun

        Yup.

And I’m getting a sickening feeling from all of this. Shit is spiraling out of control.

      • SarumanTheWoefullyIgnorant

The drone ‘attack’ doesn’t pass my smell test (and I have a very faulty nose). It was a short-range model that had to be launched from close by (certainly not from Russia). Conveniently its payload wouldn’t have gone off because its detonator was supposedly faulty. The ‘target’ was of no military or political value. It’s about as believable as the customs border post attack that started WW II.

TOO LOCAL NEWS: Looks like NH Democrats are worried about the US Senate race

Two months before the midterms, Democrats are devoting vast financial resources to red states like Ohio, Iowa and Texas, daring to hope their party can reclaim the Senate with victories in a series of states President Trump won in 2024.
New Hampshire would like a word.
In recent weeks, a tide of anxiety has risen among Democrats in the Granite State who are concerned that a party with big dreams of expanding its map could let the seat left open by the pending retirement of Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat, slip from its grasp.
The matchup that is widely expected to emerge from the state’s primary on Tuesday would pit Representative Chris Pappas, 46, a four-term congressman from the swingy First District, against former Senator John E. Sununu, who is the brother and son of two former governors. A recent poll by the University of New Hampshire showed Mr. Pappas running narrowly behind in such a contest.
Mr. Pappas himself is raising the alarm and underscoring the national implications of the race. He put it bluntly in a fund-raising email on Friday morning: “We’re losing.”

    • rhywun

Dems hate the electoral college so why would they care what a tiny state like NH thinks. It’s not like they deserve any attention.

      • DEG

Their chances of taking the Senate are poor given the seats up for grabs. If they lose NH, there is no chance of them taking the Senate. So, yeah, they should care if they want to take the Senate.

    • Raven Nation

      Is Sununu an upgrade?

      • DEG

John Sununu probably will be. He was OK when he was in the House and the Senate.

His brother, Chris, the governor during the Rona Panic, would have been before his actions during the Rona Panic. Given his actions during the Rona Panic, no. Chris was rumored to be interested in the Senate seat, but has dropped out of sight after he left the governor’s office.

I saw. I figured it out.

To make it more confusing, their father is John Sununu. Different middle name from the son. The father was a former governor who went on to be George H. W. Bush’s chief of staff.

      • rhywun

All I know is I have heard that last name most of my life without having any clue there was more than one of that lot.

    • Chipping Pioneer

Well, JK Rowling is a fascist and doesn’t like the coloureds.

lol Saw that. The color went into Snape.

But yeah, it feels like dark and dingy has been a thing for several decades. It is like edgy or something.

      Ah, that makes sense.

I was losing track of the Sununus.

The movies started out bright and got more washed out with each film, but I sorta liked that artistic choice as the story got darker when it advanced.

Someone was joking that if the tv show follows the same pattern the last 2 seasons will be completely in the dark.

  7. Chipping Pioneer

    No posts from Bob/TOG today?

    Yeah, I thought so.

Can TPTB implement an account suspension?

    • Trigger Hippie

An account suspension based on little more than random, often vague rants that lead others to a theory of sock puppetry for financial gain by said account seems a little over punitive, yes?

      • Chipping Pioneer

        No.

      • Gender Traitor

If taken at face value, I’m more concerned about the apparent doxxing, including what seems to be a DOB. That puts the doxxee (?) at risk of ID theft.

      • Trigger Hippie

Agree to disagree. As of now, this is all pure speculation. If we’re going to start suspending accounts based on subjective levels of annoyance by any given commenter then oh boy howdy, this place could rip it itself apart pretty damn quick.

      • CPRM

Let’s put Matlock on the case ASAP.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Seems to be a convoluted scheme for relatively little gain. Why bother? The impression I got was some vague and awkward venting about whatever situation it is she finds herself in. Just breeze past the comments if you care to, that’s what I do, but no banning.

      • Trigger Hippie

To be clear; I frankly don’t care about this particular drama anymore. But I also have engaged in the past…So my general take is To TOG: Glibs help those who help themselves. Show the want to help yourself. If you’re looking for a shoulder to cry on, doing so among a group of weirdo libertarian males might not lead to fertile fruit.

To her critics: It’s real damn easy to just scroll past her comments. Not gonna lie, there’s a couple few people here that as soon as I see the handle, I keep scrolling down. Pretty simple. If some here do the same when they see mine, cool.

From here on out I’m going to follow my own advice and just scroll on by.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

        Weirdo?

      • Threedoor

        I’m with Trigger.

      • Jackdaw

The impression I’ve got is that someone really wants for the police to do a welfare check at that address, whether that’s Toxteth!Actual who really believes that’s her only hope, or someone else with motives we can only guess at. The intimations of abuse and threats suggest that the cops are intended to go be heroes, with all that would entail. I think we have no idea what is really going on; it stretches the imagination to think that TO’G feels she has no agency at all, pretends that she has no knowledge of previous offers of help, and would put her cries for assistance where her supposed abuser would see them in real time, but crazier things happen. Does Bob want to commit suicide by cop? It’s within the realm of possibility, but maybe he is just doxxing T!A to be an asshole.

      • Trigger Hippie

        “Weirdo?”

        I said what I said, motherfucker. 😉

      • (((Jarflax

The more I think about that, the more likely it seems to me that what is going on is drunken cries for attention, possibly coupled with actual abuse by Bob. I don’t think it is Bob pretending to be TOG. I think it is TOG, unhappy with her life, posting for attention, but not sufficiently unhappy to actually do the hard work of moving out and figuring out how to build herself a life.

  9. Brochettaward

Watched a video today based on a book. Basic question – “Why did white men conquer the world?”

    ]o-p\

The argument is that it was based on a geographical lottery. So whites inherited agricultural knowledge from Mesopotamia. All the tropes about agriculture and early civilization. That’s where the argument starts, at least.

I have some serious issues with academia on this. They go to every length to avoid admitting that intelligence or biology played any part. Maybe it didn’t, but you can’t even talk about culture.

The argument is that agriculture was harder to start in the Americas. That hunter-gathers didn’t build. Only these same academics will tell you that early monolithic structure in Mesopotamia and elsewhere was built by hunter gathers. They talk out of both sides of their mouths.

If the people who developed agriculture were already building and doing shit the rest of the world thought impossible before agriculture, I don’t think you can explain their success away merely based on a “geographical lottery.”

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Saw that title but didn’t watch. Did they mention the domestication of the horse? That’s a big one.

      • Brochettaward

Yes. It’s part of the agricultural argument. Animals in some areas were easier to domesticate and Europe/Mesopotamia had the most.

Still not really a satisfactory answer to me. Why could hunter gatherers in the Middle East build massive structures, but not the ones in Africa?

      • Brochettaward

Even when we talk about agriculture, it ignores that at this point it’s thousands of years old and that an agricultural society would naturally have different skills than others. Different things that would be selected for. Like any other animal.

But the argument is as if natural selection just doesn’t apply to modern humans in anyway.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Different demands from the gods; a more sparse population and the resulting lack of manpower; the lack of beasts of burden to handle the heavy loads: there are plenty of alternative explanations to IQ but that could certainly be a major factor. If that wasn’t mentioned it’s an indicator of an agenda more than a search for the truth for sure.

Then again, I scrolled past that on YouTube so good luck monetizing a video mentioning collective IQs there.

      • Evan from Evansville

The beasts of burden one makes sense, especially in the Americas. Only the llama is in the New World, and they come with a big Not Really* attached.

      • CPRM

Dogs, the Americas also had dogs used as pack animals. But if a real effort was given at domestication, deer and buffalo could have been done. The academics would argue otherwise, but then the soviets turned foxes into puppers in just a few generations. Any way, we all know the answer. It was the white women that built society, and Yass Queens like the real Cleopatra, Cleopatra Jones.

      • CPRM

Also, just watched ‘Jurthis actor from Reno 911 and Black Dynamiteor #2′ tonight, the last film Clint Eastwood has directed. Had this actor from Reno 911 and Black Dynamite in it. His character was hellbent against drug dealers in the movie, I laughed.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Most of the massive structures were aimed at gaining the gods’ favor to meet people’s basic needs, especially food. Why domesticate buffalo or deer when you can just kill them and eat them? They used to grow like weeds.

      • Evan from Evansville

*asks AI* I’d thought, assumed, dogs were fairly universal pre-civilization. Like Marty McFly, “[I] thought wrong, dude.” They weren’t in Africa or Australia+. Anatomically modern humans evolved in Africa and lived there for over 200,000 years without domestic dogs.” They were in the Americas, however.

Dogs are a pretty fantastic bio-social, symbiotic, evolutionary hack. A true Special Relationship, unlike ‘ours’ with Britain, which is teetering towards a land where dogs are all executed. I hadn’t known to think about their importance in helping hunter /gathers and more. (Nothin’ like a slothy, slobby Shih Tzu when the sheep are dry, eh? Yeah?)

      • Evan from Evansville

Skinky says what I meant to add: Especially North America, I think the land was far too fruitful for there to be the ‘need’ for much agriculture. Bison were fucking everywhere cuz they could be. Uh? Open fucking buffet, fairly non-stop for thousands of years? Why bother with pesky shit like ‘wheels’ and ‘writing’ when ya got all that?

      • CPRM

Central and South America is where agriculture came from. The North East ‘First Peoples’ eventually got a hold of corn and a few other things, but no first domestication events took place in what is now American America of the Americas.

      • CPRM

When my cousin is San Diego took me to Whole Foods for the first time circa 2001 we were walking through the produce department past the corn. I had to explain Teosinte to her. I was an 18 year old freshman film school kid, she was college educated and almost 30.

      • Brochettaward

The focus on agriculture here is part of the problem. It has long been assumed that civilization developed because of agriculture. But like I said, when you have giant monolithic structures being built by supposed hunter gatherers, and you start seeing signs that they had astronomy (though they are loath to admit this, it’s all just coincidence), then there’s something else going on to me.

The neat little theory that agriculture produced civilization doesn’t completely hold-up. Where was all the excess labor to build Gobekli Tepe and all the similar structures that dot Mesopotamia well before the advent of agriculture? That took planning and math. And also, being stationary for some period of time.

We continue to parrot the line about agriculture no matter what though because we don’t have real answers. You can’t just throw out contradictory data points that disprove the theory. That’s not The Science!

So my point isn’t it was IQ. But just that the tired old theory needs to be reevaluated in a serious manner.

Graham Hancock makes more sense at this point than this shit.

      • CPRM

        Gobekli Tepe bro.

    • Brochettaward

There’s other tropes. That knowledge of agriculture was slower to spread to Africa because of the Sahara, only it was actually not a desert at that time. White colonists had no problem going to Africa and starting up successful agricultural operations.

China/India had agriculture. So obviously something was different in the cultural development of the West.

But the real issue I take with the argument is the hunter gatherer shit. They’ll say Graham Hancock dismisses hunter gatherers as simple, not them. They use this to justify how they can claim hunter gatherers built monolithic structures. But then they turn around and use that explain why some other culture couldn’t withstand European colonization.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Overlap the maps of IQ and % Neanderthal DNA.

      • Brochettaward

Yea. I’m very tired of the attempt to discount all evidence that’s inconvenient to politically correct narratives.

The background screen is officially underway, and tomorrow I’m gonna go get my drug test….. no I’m not! Closed Labor Day. Oooh! That opens up a few possibilities. It’s funny how on said day, many/most ‘Unessential Workers’ will still be on the job. (Those Essential Workers and their luck!)

Gotta get a new passport this month. I’m rather proud of my last two. The new one is bulky. Ugh.

    • PieInTheSky

she is just generally right-wing republican, i would not say man-o-sphere specific

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Cute enough with views that slot right in with Fox News. She’ll get one of the chairs on a Gutfeld show in no time if she doesn’t have one already.

Sean’s late even for a ‘Holiday’

    • Sean

Yes, but I have good cause.

      Giggity.

    • Ted S.

Hey buddy, stop being late, even for a holiday.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, Ted’S., Teh Hype, Stinky, and U!

      • UnCivilServant

        Morning, GT.

        How goes?

      • Sean

        😉

      • Gender Traitor

It goes well, thanks! Another lovely morning out here at Tranq Base – even a bit cool. (Phone’s weather app says 63 degrees.)

How are you today? And are you going to tell us how/where you acquired this week’s featured DVD/Blu-ray?

      • UnCivilServant

I am out of kitchen trash bags, but that is easily rectified.

I have to figure out what to do with the dead AC, but at least the refrigerant has all been vented out of my bedroom.

I’m going to keep mum on the source of this piece.

      • Gender Traitor

        😞

      • UnCivilServant

Tell you what – I’ll tell you directly provided you not spill the beans to the rest of the Glibs.

      • Gender Traitor

        I promise! 😃

      • (((Jarflax

Your Mum bought it for you?

  12. UnCivilServant

    🤬

Is there any way to make wordpress not to a bot check on a “submit comment” click?

It does it far too often with far too little cause.

    • UnCivilServant

I seem to have driven you all off.

      🙁

      ::Sad Robot::

    • Sean

And logging me out every 3.5 minutes.

      🤬🤬

      • (((Jarflax

I mean, you are accessing the server from a vehicle that is outside of normal spacetime, of course you’d have connection issues.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Change your VPN server if you’re using one. For whatever reason some get flagged way more than others.

    • R C Dean

The bot checks have backed off some, but there are way too many still. And I don’t know why I need to get logged out so often.

I suspect WordPress just hates Safari’s privacy features.

      Fuck WordPress.

  13. DEG

    Mornin’

  14. Fourscore

Whew! Just made it though I’ve been up for an hour. Coffee first is my explanation.
